Had wine and charcuterie board before the concert here. House wine was nice and light. Charcuterie board was delicious. Everything on our board was perfect. I dont remember which cheese we had but all tasted great. Dessert were to die for. When in Troy, this is the place to be.

Lucas Confectionery, quite simply, is our favorite local wine bar. Period. As soon as you walk through the doors, you melt into the cozy, warm lighting and decor of bygones times. You are provided with a choice list of delightful wines, beer (cans and tap), and more with information and careful attention provided by the knowledgeable staff. They are there to provide insightful info on your choices and allow you to have a taste for your final decision. If you've just stopped in for a glass or two, once you've decided on what's in your glass, you can choose to sit in the quaint bar room which is truly a page out of the victorian era (which is the building's roots). You may also saunter to the back room. This back room is a treasure. In the cold weather, it's cozy and you can take a seat and gaze into the fireplace. In the summer, the roof retracts... yes, retracts(!) to make it an open-air space. This place has the whole vibe - quiet place to ponder over a glass of wine or have a romantic night out over candle lit wine. There are delicious small plates and cheese boards to pair with your sip. One of the Capital District's best.

Lucas Confectionary- Boujee trendy spot in Troy with delicious finger food. Overall a nice pricey spot for an intimate romantic date or group hang out. Ambiance- indoors is dimly lit and romantic which makes it a great atmosphere for an intimate date. The back is a converted outdoor setup which is perfect during the winter because it is well insulated yet feels outdoors. Meatballs and garlic bread: delicious and strong flavors. Small portion though. 3 Cheeses and 3 Meats: I enjoyed the ingredients. This went very well with the wines we ordered. White Bean Hummus: fresh ingredients and nice finger food Prosciutto and Provolone Stuffed Peppers: We really disliked this dish. It was a bit odd. The dish could have been improved if the peppers were roasted. The raw peppers were a surprisingly odd flavor and texture that didn't compliment the prosciutto and cheese well.

Love love love this spot. It's a wonderful intimate place to gather with. Friends or go on a date. The ambiance is very chill and trendy. I love the fact that they restore and reuse historical pieces in the design. We popped in on a sweltering summer night recently to indulge in their Tuesday special. I had a delicious Riesling to sip alongside my incredible build your own smashburger, the toppi g choices were amazing. I settled on pickled onions, bacon, cheddar, and a regular bun. My husband chose a gluten-free bun, and the American, which is made with American cheese, tomato, ketchup, and he added carmelized onions. We shared an order of their loaded tots, which were to die for. The owner, Vic, was there to greet people and help out , he is always very friendly and warm. His Sommelier/Bar Tender is very knowledgeable and helpful when deciding what type of wine or cocktail you should choose. They have a fantastic craft cocktail menu and even mocktails for non drinkers. Even the complimentary house water is refreshing. This will be a lifesaver this summer no doubt. Always innovative! GREAT JOB VIC AND STAFF!!

Just Wow!! Went in for Burgers and Tots.. simply delicious. Patty was prepared perfectly and topped with gorgeous heirloom tomato and fresh crisp lettuce. Margarita was superb and fresh. As soon as you get there you are transported into bliss and hospitality. The garden is a great spot to take in nature and a bit of Troy history.

This place rocks. All the wines tasted great. It's somewhat small plate with a limited menu but it is great tasting food. The inside atmosphere us awesome with various seating styles along with an outside area.

Lucas Confectionery is absolutely adorable. I was introduced to Lucas while attending a wine tasting that was hosted within the bar. From the moment we approached the bar, I knew I would love everything about the space. I couldn't get over the exposed brick and the wood paneling throughout the bar. Lucas doesn't have a lot of sitting inside but it's very spacious. The bar can easily hold a large number of people that opt to stand. Lucas is not a place that would visit for a sit down meal because the sitting isn't conducive to a sit down dinner. Lucas does have outdoor sitting on the back patio that has ample tables. Since it was just starting to warm up when I visited Lucas, the outdoor patio didn't have too many people outside but I could easily see the place getting very busy on a warm summer night. After visiting Lucas, I see this place a great place to host an larger social event such as a networking event or company holiday party.

This will definitely be the new "hot spot" in Troy. We arrived shortly after they opened on a Thursday evening and by the time we left, around 7 pm, the place was just about full. During the recent Victorian Stroll event there was a line of people waiting to get in. The restoration of the interior speaks welcoming to you as you enter. The staff are warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. The carafe of water brought to our table was infused with the flavor of cucumber and some other flavors that I don't recall. It was very refreshing. The wine bar is the first in the area with wine on draft. Being a wine bar the only beer is in bottles, but there are at least some good craft beers available. We started with a couple of glasses of wine, a Pier 41 Red Blend from Red Hook Winery in New York ($12) and a Vinha do Mouro from Quinta do Mouro in Portugal ($11). Both were nice, but the one from Portugal was really nice. From the Small Plates section of the menu we ordered the Kalamata Olive Tapenade ($4.50). I'm not a tapenade fan but my wife is. She said it was delicious. I tried it and found that I agreed with her. It was certainly the best tasting tapenade I'd ever had. The Cheese & Charcuterie menu offers four choices - a selection of 1 item for $5; 3 items for $12; 5 items for $20; and our choice of the Monger's Choice ($23) - a selection of cheeses & charcuterie of the kitchen's choice along with suggested appropriate pairings. Our Monger's Choice ended up including 4 cheeses, 4 meats, a mix of olives, Marcona almonds, little pickles, whole grain mustard, honey, and at least three other items that I don't recall. The recommended pairings with each cheese were wonderful. The flavors just burst in your mouth. The cheeses on our slate were Shushan Snow, Red Hawk, Pleasant Ridge Reserve, and Shaker Blue. The charcuteries were Spicy Capicola, Applewood Smoked Magret Duck Breast, Bresaola, and Duck Salami. Service was excellent. Several servers and the owner stopped by occasionally to check on us and to answer any questions. They were all very knowledgeable. We are looking forward to our return and possibly try some of the sweets also the next time. Your receipt can either be printed or emailed to you.

    Time for another adventure!!

Lucas Confectionary is located in downtown Troy. It's a very spacious venue, with a semi outdoor seating area. The vibe is casual, and the hostess tells me I may seat myself, I choose to eat in the garden. It's a lovely day outside. I place my order, the house bread as an appetizer, with a cheese pizza as my entree. Seems like a lot of bread, but the menu isn't very extensive. I don't count that against them as the main focus of this restaurant is the wine selection. My house bread arrives, and it is amazing! Perfectly crusty outside, warm and soft inside, served with a creamed butter, with braised garlic and crispy rosemary. It's fantastic. I move on to the pizza which has now arrived. It looks like it will be just as good as the bread, sadly it's not. The pizza tastes really cheap and basic. The cheese is rubbery. I was expecting the pizza to be way more flavourful. I'm disappointed. This restaurant gives me the communal feeling of a tapas place, and the portions are very generous. It's a great place to go for drinks with friends, or happy hour with coworkers. I'm not a fan of the dog friendly policy here, however if that's your thing you'll likely enjoy. Overall, I would visit again, I will just stick to the bread and wine next time. I would recommend.

    Lovely bar area. Good playlist.

What a beautiful restaurant!…read more Did you ever have a long day and want to drink a big glass of red wine with dinner? The Scarlet Knife put a check in all the boxes. I walked in with no reservations. I noticed the space is very large with multiple dining rooms. I'm tired, I asked for a table close to the open kitchen. Once seated, I'm given a large, leather menu. There are lots of great entree choices but after I review all the selections, I'm going with the SK Bistro Burger. The entree also has a wine pairing suggestion, a Cabernet Sauvignon. It's like they read my mind, I'm sold! I'm starting to read about the restaurant, they have a large wine cellar and was recognized by Wine Spectator with an award for excellence. My bistro burger arrives, I can see this is a well crafted burger. From the pretzel bun to the thick burger patty, Scarlet Knife served me a great meal that I would typically order at The Capital Grill. My only issue, the onion straws were cold. I scraped them off and continued with my meal. I'm just passing thru town, Scarlet Knife was a fantastic spot to dine and have a generous pour of award winning Cabernet Sauvignon.

We arrived early and were seated promptly; water was poured before we even had napkins on laps. This surprised me, as reviews indicated that service could be slow and this was a holiday. But this started a constant service of someone checking in on us every 2-3 minutes (I am prone to exaggeration for a good story, but I assure you this was true. I kept checking my watch to confirm). We put in an appetizer order (deviled eggs) that was served within a minute or two. These were well seasoned and tasty, ice cold from the refrigerator. It's not that they didn't taste fresh, but they were served to us so quickly that I know that they were prepared well in advance and only the warm pork belly was recently prepped. Our meals were served as the appetizer was finished (I was still chewing). At this point, we were 10 minutes into our seating. Our meals included steak and eggs, which I incorrectly assumed would require a little bit more time. Not true! Our plates arrived, piping hot and tasty enough...but boy did we feel rushed. Our server, the manager, bussers, and other attendants stopped by our table every few minutes. I recognize this was a holiday, but there was not a steady stream of people coming through the doors and plenty of open tables were available. Our conversation was repeatedly interrupted with these check-ins and we all took great care to eat the meal as slowly as possibly to stretch things out. At this point we were on track to be out the door in 30 minutes. As a table we made a decision to order dessert and we were able to savor and dawdle long enough to get us to one hour. $180 later, we finished our Easter visit out in the parking lot where no one was pushing us out. (I will note that several families arrived after us and completed their meals in 30ish minutes. What's special about brunch when it's that rushed?) I wish I could review the food better, but my taste buds hardly had time to register the experience. Entrees were hot but clearly prepared well in advance and kept at the ready under heat lamps or in warming ovens. The dessert was cold and sweet as appropriate, but had that prepped yesterday feel to it. This is not what I expect from a restaurant that markets itself as a fresh farm to table establishment. I don't quite regret going to Scarlet Knife, but there are enough quality restaurants in the greater area that I probably won't return.

I've been to Innovo Kitchen in Latham several times over the years and I've enjoyed it every time. They have a unique menu that changes periodically, but I always find something that catches my eye. The interior has an industrial feel which I like, with a lot of exposed brick. The tables are made from old bowling lane wood, which is a really cool touch. When you walk in there is also a bowling pin displayed in a glass case. I remember there being a bowling alley somewhere in that plaza when I was a kid, so it seems likely the building has some history tied to that. The tables are also nice and large, which makes the dining experience more comfortable. Tonight I ordered the Monte Cristo burger which is described as battered Buckley's Bread sourdough, a 6 oz special grind burger, Taylor pork roll, Swiss, and Twin Leaf Farms maple aioli. It was quite tasty and I really enjoyed the hint of maple syrup flavor on the burger. The crinkle cut fries that came with it were also very good. Another person in our party ordered the White Chicken Parmesan, described as a crisp chicken cutlet topped with ricotta and garlic spinach and fresh mozzarella, with garlic parmesan cream and lumache pasta. They said it was delicious. Someone else had the Crispy Skin Salmon and enjoyed that as well. A child at our table ordered macaroni with red sauce. The portion was surprisingly large and they liked it, which is impressive because they are particularly finicky. For dessert we ordered something we've had here several times before, the peanut butter mud pie. It's basically ice cream in pie form with an Oreo cookie crust and chocolate fudge. It's very tasty and also a generous portion. At the end of your meal they also offer everyone at the table a tasty piece of gourmet chocolate. One thing that really stood out tonight was the attentiveness of the management. Two different managers stopped by our table at different times to check and make sure everything was good. I recognized one of them because I've seen him there before and he always seems to make a point of checking in with guests. The other person had seated us so I initially thought she was the hostess, but after she stopped by during the meal I asked if she was a manager and she confirmed that she was. I mentioned that I was impressed that two different managers had checked on us, and that every time I've dined there a manager has stopped by to make sure everything was good. I thanked her and told her it was appreciated. During the summer and fall they also have a very nice patio area for outdoor dining. On cooler nights they have heaters and a fireplace which makes it a great place to sit outside. I will definitely return here again in the future. 5 stars

The benches up against the wall opposite counter are beautiful and force good posture. There were also some window spots I'd definitely aim for next time. The counter person was delightful no complaints. Explained the drinks and didn't rush us. We came later morning on Saturday, most of the bakery items were sold out. But what we got was amazing, a nice mixture of scones, perfection. I appreciated the mixture of small morsels, it included flavors that I would not have tried otherwise. I got a cream brûlée latte as suggested classic with a hint of sweetness, standard with double shot of espresso. My wife got a mocha variety definitely much richer. The art on top was also a nice highlight. As other reviews mentioned prices were not listed but this is definitely a specialty place so expect a higher price than a pump your own coffee express station. But also I rather give my money to a local place than a huge mass marketed place thats serving half the quality.
