I took them to another optical department for a repair, but they told me they didn't have the correct length of wire and had to rig the repair. Afterward, the frames never felt quite right. Today, I noticed the wire was actually hanging out from the top of my frame. I first stopped at another optical center in Surprise that I knew did repairs, but they told me they wouldn't repair frames that weren't purchased from their location. So I went to LensCrafters in Surprise -- and what a difference! From the moment I walked in, the team was friendly, welcoming, and completely confident that they could fix my glasses. Keep in mind, this was only about an hour and a half before closing. Ricardo told me, "I'll take care of your glasses. Just give me about an hour." I ran a few errands, and before long I received a call saying my glasses were ready. When I returned, Ricardo explained that he had straightened the frames and installed all-new wire. I put them on, and they felt fantastic -- comfortable, straight, and sitting perfectly on my face. I asked what I owed them, and they wouldn't accept payment. I was told it's LensCrafters' policy to provide these types of repairs at no charge. The confidence, friendliness, and willingness to help really impressed me. From day one, the service was great and still is. Dr Cline now works part time, but it is business as usual as service is still incredibly good. The Groupon I purchased was for an eye exam, single-vision polycarbonate lenses, and 50% off frames. But, basically the Groupon was worth $200. The exam was like $60, then for my prescription, it was recommended that I have anti-reflectant and some type of special lense, that was like $80 together, then the rest of the Groupon went towards the frame, then I paid about $85 out of pocket for the remainder of the frame (the cheapest frame was ~$150). Not too, too bad considering I got my glasses the same visit. I think that's the only thing that really made it worth it. I waited about 30 mins which was a nice surprise, as it usually takes a week or two to get them mailed or ready to pick up. If you're looking for a cheaper, cheaper option, I'd say just pay to get an eye exam and then buy your frames online from like Zenni or something. That way, you might even get 2 pairs of glasses for the $85 I paid today, instead of 1 pair. But, if you do that option you're going to have to YouTube how to find the Pupillary Distance (PD) that online frames retailer ask you for that's not on the exam ticket. I had to do that one year; it's easy, don't worry! You just need a ruler and an erasable marker. Overall, the visit was nice. Everything went smoothly. It was easy to make an appointment online via Groupon, and they called to leave appointment reminders (I need because my memory is bleh)! The woman who checked me in and did the machine testing for me was very welcoming and sweet. She helped me picked out frames that best fit my face! But the quality shows, and another customer told me she gets many years and lens changes from her frames before needing new ones. So in the long run the cost may be similar to cheaper ones. The person helping me, Courtney, was fantastic. Great attitude and super helpful. She was the only person there, yet juggled three customers very well and everyone got attention. She did a great job with selecting frames for my needs and then with fitting them perfectly. After a week of wearing them I noticed that I'd forgotten I was wearing them (partly because they are super light, partly because she fit them so perfectly for my head). They are a CareCredit provider so you can get a year no-interest financing on the glasses and services.
