I remembered Target Optical from another lifetime and the poor experience from this location 10 years ago that drove me to finding and staying with my now retired optometrist for all this time. With so much time passing, I gave it another chance. And I'm glad I did. My first visit back included me and my oldest child. The pros and cons - Pros: - Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Very efficient as well to make your visit flow smoothly and timely. - Generous business hours. This location (and probably all other Target Optical locations too) caters to families with children and working individuals who need more generous hours. My retired optometrist's office catered to elderly, retired folks (opened 4 days a week 8:30am-4pm). Obviously, I was able to make it work for all these years but not everyone can. - Very fast exams. They schedule exams in 20 minute increments and I wasn't sure how thorough these fast exams would go. It turned out fine. The exams hit on everything needed and there was time to ask questions, share concerns, socialize, etc. - Large selections of eyeglasses. This is a small but mighty office. I was impressed with the variety of eyeglass frames offered. And I especially appreciate that they have their own Target brands of eyeglass frames for those who want/need something as affordable as possible. Cons: - Small physical space. It can't be helped as this is inside a Target store and only so much space can be allotted. I know that small spaces can bother some folks so I wanted to point this out. - Very fast exams. This was a Pro for me personally but this can definitely be a Con for someone else. If you are someone who has a large number of concerns and do want the extra time - a smaller, independently owned office may be a better fit. - Mismatching business information between website and physical location. The hours of operations are WRONG on the Target website. The website showed that there were opened on Sundays only to find out they were not opened when we went in to pick up my child's new glasses. I will be submitting changes to Yelp to reflect the hours posted at the physical location. Also, the website had a wrong phone number to this location somehow. The phone number shown on Yelp is correct. I'm happy to return as a regular client and would recommend this to my other family members and friends.

I heard good things about Holt Eye Care from my neighborhood and the reviews were good, so I figured I'd give them a shot. Like others had mentioned, the office is very clean, organized and the frame selection is great. The front desk staff and everyone I've met with is very welcoming and helpful. I arrived early for my 4pm and Anastasia (very friendly and helpful) asked I fill out additional paperwork. I did this prior to my appointment through their online portal but there was an extra charge for contact fittings. Standard practice these days. When I "checked in" on Yelp, they offered a free Optomap eye exam (a $35 value) which was great! This is where the eye doctor evaluates the retinas and the light-sensitive tissue at the back of my eyes. They also check for glaucoma and other issues. Thankfully, my eyes are very healthy but at 44, I will likely be doing this each year. Within 10 minutes of my arrival, I was called back by Amy, their tech. She took great care doing my tests, took notes about my glasses and contacts etc. She was very soft spoken and professional. While I was busy with her, Dr. Bogart interrupted us by asking her a question and they went back and forth for a minute or two about the answer. I felt that was a bit unprofessional and could have waited. The testing and questions took 30 minutes (standard for a new patient) and then I met with Dr. Bogart. She is very kind and listened to my concerns and needs. They were clearly very busy because after she had me try the new contacts she recommended, she excused herself to "finish" up with a patient next door. I was left waiting for about 10 minutes but again, maybe this is normal. I am not used to a one-on-one experience at Target. It was confirmed I am still dealing with dry eye and Anastasia gave me additional drops to use at night as I was leaving. Nice of her to take the time to chat with me, otherwise I wouldn't have known this was an option since Dr. Bogard made no mention. I was also sent home with two different types of contacts to try for a few weeks before I chose what to order. After that was finished, I sat down with Robert to purchase new glasses. ***Two weeks later*** I met with Melissa to get my new glasses fitted and she was really great! Patient with my questions, wanted to ensure my glasses fit well and told me to call or text if there were ever any issues. While I was there, I mentioned the two-week trial contacts weren't working any better than the previous pair I had been wearing for years. After a short discussion, they offered a second pair to try, at no cost. This office really knows about customer service and takes care of their customers. Happy to have found them!

They charge extra fees for services they don't even properly provide and will nickel-and-dime you. I went in for a contact lens exam and was charged a contact lens evaluation fee, which felt completely unjustified because Holt didn't actually evaluate anything. After paying the exam copay, evaluation fee, and refraction fee, I noticed the prescription they gave me was only changed by 0.5 from my previous prescription. What bothered me most was that Holt never mentioned the prescription change, never explained why it was changed, and never offered trial lenses or asked me to test the new power to see if it worked better. None of that happened. When I got home and noticed the change, I called the office. They told me that if Holt didn't discuss it during the appointment, I would need to schedule another appointment just to ask about it. That's completely unacceptable. We were charged extra for services they claimed to provide but clearly did not. I would not recommend going there. If you do decide to make an appointment, call ahead and ask for a full breakdown of every possible charge, otherwise they'll hit you with unexpected fees.

The way the front desk was set up, the staff clearly were irritated at the slightest question coming their way which made me feel horrible for the elderly patients they heavily rely on. When I questioned why I needed a certain procedure done, I was greeted with a curt response from the assistant which proceeded throughout the appointment. My visit with the doctor was subpar, as she mentioned there was "nothing there" when I had a bump the size of the moon in the middle of my eye. Cool.. I was sent home with drops and the same antibiotics I received from urgent care. Let's just say, she was gravely wrong and my condition was not taken seriously in my opinion. They failed to give me results of a full eye exam, never mentioned any changes in my prescription, and when I had to retrieve records that were supposed to be uploaded in the portal to see a different doctors office, they were no where to be found. When I contacted the office manager about this, and informed her I shouldn't have been charged for a full exam without a physician follow up, she proceeded to read off my prescription with no medical background to do so, then proceeded to tell me "you're not paying for it" insurance is. Hummm.. I'm sure the insurance companies would be happy to learn about that. Avoid this location at all costs! My experience was horrible and people deserve better treatment.

I called in to ask them what insurances they accepted, how much their eye exams were, and if they were able to squeeze me in that same day (they did!). Out of all the optometry offices I've been to, this was the only office that has ample parking! Searching for parking at a doctor's appointment is just something I don't want to deal with! Scott greeted me with the most friendliest smile! He introduced himself, checked me in, and gave me a new patient form to fill out. As I was completing my form, Scott was extremely personable and made me feel very welcomed. Scott's laugh is contagious!! At the end of my appointment, I felt like this place was my home! Kathleen got me started on pre-testing and was super sweet and gentle! She always has a huge smile and that made me feel very comfortable there. Dr. Sarah Paikowsky is literally a hidden gem. I've never had such an amazing connection with a doctor before. Nowadays you see many doctors going in and out of patients' exam rooms every few minutes. This was not the case here. Although my appointment was roughly 30 minutes, Dr. Sarah stayed with me and was extremely thorough. She made sure I knew what she was talking about before I even left her office. She did an amazing job explaining what was going on with my eyes, gave me great suggestions on how to properly care for my eyes, and advice on what I should do to prevent my vision from getting worse. Dr. Sarah did something that nobody else does, and that was to show me my old prescription versus the new prescription. This clearly shows that it is a huge upgrade (bad thing for me because my vision got worse!), I can see 1000x better now! While waiting for my appointment to see Dr. Sarah, I was able to experience how Scott and Kathleen mingled with their patients. The whole staff has been here for many many years. I've been a patient at Active Eye Care for my glasses and contact lens prescriptions for a few…read moreyears. Last year, I learned that Dr. Fechtel was selling the business and that there would likely be a new doctor for my next visit. During my latest appointment on February 21, 2025, I noticed many of the same friendly staff members, along with some new faces. One of the new team members was the technician who conducted my preliminary eye tests. She was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient--so much so that I initially thought she was the doctor! For a small additional fee, Active Eye Care used new scanning technology that eliminated the need for uncomfortable and cumbersome eye dilation, which can linger for hours. I was very happy about that! Shortly after my initial tests, I was seen by Dr. Inga Fors, O.D. She was personable, knowledgeable, courteous, and had a great sense of humor. I felt very relaxed during her examination, and she achieved something I had never experienced before: correcting my vision to 20/15 with contact lenses! I was extremely pleased with the results and her thorough discussion about my overall eye health. When I checked out at the end of my visit, one of her staff members asked me what I thought about the new doctor. My response was glowing, and his reply was equally positive. This made me feel even better about the new Active Eye Care, knowing that the staff is very happy too.
