Completely frustrated. I purchased glasses for my son at this location. I added the protection plan, which is great for an active 8 year old to have for his glasses. Unfortunately within the first 2 months they were broken. I took them and gratefully paid only the $42 to replace them. When we received the "new" glasses, the side popped out of socket/hinge the first day. He wasn't even able to wear them. It looked as though they hadn't been glued and attached properly. My wife took them in and we were charged another $42 to replace them...AGAIN. I called the office trying to explain that they were faulty when we received them. I was put on hold, I could tell whoever I was talking to was trying to be patient, but she came off unconcerned and rude. She was also non-responsive while I was presenting my frustration that they were faulty. I was put on hold for a while and then she explained that we were charged to replace the glasses. She never addressed the root issue of them being faulty when received. I will look elsewhere moving forward for eye care. read more

I have had the worst customer service at the Glendale, Northern location ever. I had tried reaching them by phone, rings and rings, then hung up on me on 3 different occasions. Finally reached someone today to explain my problem. She was very distracted and not paying attention to my words. I had to repeat over and over. Let's back up to the day I went in to order glasses. (With my own prescription) Wait was long. Representative was rude (like I was interrupting her day). The day I ordered, a very long wait. Never recommend this place to anyone. I made an appointment for eyes check, I called in advance and ask if my exam was covered by my insurance, which they reassured me that I only have to pay 10 bucks as a co-pay and the exam will be covered. I go to my appointment, I walked in, I asked the optometrist to check my eyes because I'm short sided, he does all the exam, does not inform me of any extra charges at all, I walked out and I get charged $104 for an "contact lenses evaluation". At no point, I am informed that I'm paying anything extra for any "contact lens eval" which apperantly is not part of just a regular eye exam. On top of that, they refuse to give me the prescription for my contact lenses, or the results of my evaluation, because they stayed that "it's not ready" and I need to come for an appointment and have my contact lenses try out so "see if it is the right prescription" ...So $104 later AND no actual prescription for contacts. The old hag that works at front desk is the worst. Super rude and zero customer service experience. read more

I have been coming here for over 10 yrs. Only because they take my insurance. I have had 2 good eye exams in that time. Both were from Dr feeling in. I have been wearing contact lens for over 30 yrs. Yes I'm old. Last year the Dr wouldn't order lens until she saw them in my eyes. I know how contacts should feel in my eyes. I have been wearing them longer then she has been alive. I called to see if my lens are in. They said they called me 10 days ago. Left a message. No voicemail no missed calls from them. If self paying avoid Walmart at 59 and Bell is much better read more

I'm on the third week of waiting for my glasses and still no help from the staff in expediting. From the moment I walked in, the staff behind the desk did not welcome me or offer to help me pick frames. I found a pair and asked for them to be priced. I wanted to know if there were any insurance discounts available and after being coaxed to call the insurance company, the gentleman told me I was not eligible for insurance until October. I advised that I still wanted the glasses and needed a price. It seemed perhaps I was inconveniencing him by asking him to sell me the glasses. I phone on the 14th day and left a message to find out if they were in. A few hours later I just stopped by the store as I was running errands. Same gentleman told me he had left a message for the lab to get status and would get back to me. The following day I stopped by the store again where I was told that the lab did give them status (no phone call to me) and that they had made them but they broke the lenses. They would be remaking them and I might get them the follow day (Friday). Or perhaps Monday. But then it became Tuesday because that's the day the lab said they would have them done by. I turned to walk out but then walked back and asked the clerk if perhaps they could contact the lab and request that they expedite it since the error causing the delay had been theirs. I knew as soon as I asked that nothing would get done about it. No phone call Friday. No phone call Monday. I phoned today and was told the glasses are not in and although they did receive a delivery today they haven't checked it yet. I mean, perhaps they could quickly check it while I'm on the phone and let me know? A female associate let me know that they'll get back to me if the glasses came in. I'll be driving back to the store with my receipt and requesting a refund. Enough is enough. When customer service is such a low priority, I'll start over with a new timeline and take my business somewhere else. read more

absolutely horrible customer service no hello just negative vibe . our appointment was 11:20 we showed up at 11:20 rold we had be there 11:05 gentlemen with bald head gave his 2 cents and i couldn't believe how horribly rude and how we were treated when we actually showed up on time . we've been there before and have never experienced a pleasant staff . My wife went there today to purchase 2 pair of glasses, one regular, and one tinted. We arrived there today, November 17th 1:30 pm. There was a woman sitting behind the counter just watching us. She never acknowledged us or asked if she could help. My wife tried on about 10 pairs of glasses, still without the young woman asking if she could help us. After about 25 minutes we left, and she still did not acknowledge us. The ironic part is my wife had her eyes examined at the same Nationwide approximately two weeks ago, and was using her new prescription for the glasses. The people at the front desk were friendly, the doctor performing the exam was not friendly was very abrupt and did not help when asked about information only referred me back to the sales desk I also had issues with their prices even with two insurance companies that pay very well they were still asking me to pay upwards close to $400 for a pair of glasses and would not even consider helping bring the price down to accommodate me better and when I told them I would just wait they seem to not care gave me my prescription charged me for my eye exam with no help to try to keep me as a customer will not ever return to nationwide vision. read more

Upon arrival for my appointment, I informed the manager that I was given the wrong prescription contacts. Someone (the doctor, receptionist, I don't know who) had entered the power for one eye as -5.50 when it should have been entered as -2.50 (same as my previous year's visit). I put the contact in and obviously could not see anything. When I pointed this out to the manger on site, Deborah Bloss, she informed me that since I had waited longer than 30 days to bring this error to their attention, there was nothing that could be done and I was just stuck with a years worth of bad contacts. No refund. No exchanges. Nothing. She also seemed incredulous that I would suggest someone on their end had made a mistake that needed to be remedied. I asked for a number of someone above her, she provided me with a fax machine number. The very next day I was able to get in down the road and had to do a completely new exam. This exam came back with a -2.50 power in my eye (Surprise! My eye did not get tremendously worse and then miraculously heal itself over the span of a year, Nationwide had obviously made a recording error) and I was able to order a new supply of contact lenses from this new supplier. Bottom line: if you want to be treated like a human being, there is a long list of vision centers nearby. Throwing a dart at the list and going to any of them would be a better choice than this Nationwide location. Update 7/28/20: You can see the response I received to my review below (posted within 24 hours of my review going live). I did exactly as requested (emailed my contact info) as well as messaged Tracy directly. I have not received a response to anything, nearly a month later. They want to appear friendly and responsive, but do not actually follow through on anything. What a terrible business model. read more

I almost never leave reviews, let alone negative reviews, but this is the worst experience I've ever had in my 15 years of wearing glasses. This is a long one so buckle up. The day of my exam, I arrived fifteen minutes early to my appointment and still waited an hour to be seen, but the real trouble came when when I arrived a week later to pick up the glasses I ordered with my new prescription. I could tell right away when I put the frames on that something was wrong. It felt like wearing someone else's glasses. My eyes couldn't focus and it felt like seeing two of everything, which I told the workers. I was so disoriented when I put the glasses on that it felt like i was going to fall and I immediately started getting a headache. I was basically told that I needed time to adjust and that this was due to the change in my prescription. I replied saying that my prescription has changed by the same increment before and that I really felt like something was wrong and eventually the eye doctor agreed to see me. She only took me back for about a minute and after I struggled to read the largest line of text I was told that this was normal and to try them out for a week. I was doubtful but I gave it time and saw no improvement so I came in again. This time they checked the lenses and saw they were made with prism lenses by mistake, which would explain the extreme double vision that I had mentioned. I don't know why this wasn't checked when I complained of double vision in the first place. I also asked why the lenses were so thick because I had specifically ordered the thinnest available and was told that these were the regular thickness lenses not the high index I had requested. I was told that they would reorder them with the correct materials and I left to expect a call in the next week or so for pickup. Sometime after my first failed pickup, I went to Warby Parker with my same prescription to get a second pair of glasses just for fun and those were delivered perfectly in both fit and vision. I had absolutely no problems with these glasses or the prescription. I was hoping that when the Nationwide reorder came in I would have two pairs of cute, functional glasses. Today I went in to pickup my new glasses and after getting the fit adjusted I could tell that the lenses still didn't look right. They were still very thick (almost a 1/4 inch thick on the side) even though the size and shape of the frames is comparable to both my old glasses and my new Warby Parker glasses and my concerns that these might not be high index lenses were dismissed. I was still experiencing double vision. I have bad eyes (-6.75 in my left and -3.5 in my right) and wearing these glasses was almost worse than my uncorrected vision. They are unusable. Once again I was told to give my eyes time to adjust to the prescription, which didn't make sense as I came in wearing my other new glasses with the same prescription. All my concerns were dismissed and belittled and blamed on a number of things all leading back to it being my fault. It was my poor choice in frames, my bad eyesight, my problem. At one point it felt like they were about to accuse me of lying, although what I would have to gain from lying I don't know. I don't know the names of the workers I spoke to and I wouldn't feel comfortable naming them on here anyway but one worker in particular was patronizing and rude and showed no willingness to help solve any problems, instead shifting all the blame to me. I asked for a refund for the glasses and I was told to expect a call in a couple days to set that up once they contact the higher ups about the situation. It's been almost a month since my eye exam and I didn't feel like I was going to get anywhere at Nationwide anytime soon so I gave up. I'm not writing this review because I want money or attention or anything. I genuinely would just like to save other people the trouble that I went through. It takes a lot for me to complain but almost every aspect of care including the service, wait time, glasses, eye doctor reexamination, and troubleshooting was frankly unacceptable. On the plus side it only took about a week for the glasses to be ready but on the minus side I couldn't see out of the glasses so I would consider that a moot point. tl;dr: After going in a total of four times and leaving one of those visits crying in frustration, my advice to people considering Nationwide for glasses is to just go anywhere else. I've had good experiences at Costco and Warby Parker. read more

Fast friendly service. Very knowledgeable team. Great doctor as well. I hadn't ordered glasses in years. The exam was considerate thorough and professional. I am very picky about glasses. Too tight, too loose, too big, small dark, light. All of the above. The staff was patient and helpful in assisting me in my selection. Glasses and sunglasses. I picked my frames, they sized me and sent in my order. It sure did t hurt that the entire visit and two pair cost less than my last optometrist visit at another place where I bought just one pair. By the way why do they call glasses a pair? Huh. Anyway, the glasses came in on time, they fit great and lenses were perfect. However, I had the sunglasses a week and the lenses started falling out. When wearing the, when they were in the hard case, pretty much whenever. So I went back. Two times. The first time they said the lenses were not made right and sent them back. The second time they asked me if I wanted to restyle, which given the popping lenses I said yes. Yes there were challenges with the hardware but the staff took care to ensure that I was happy with the results. Thank you Nationwide. read more

Walked in to the office this morning havig appointment at 9:00am . I greeted the lady behind the desk by saying good morning and the response was how can i help you!!! I told her I have appointment for my grand daughter eye exam for 9:00am mind you I was there at 8:55 am. The lady looked at me and left to the back office bringing a lady who was cleaning here mouth from food . First thing she sayes you were suppose to be here at 8:30 I said my appointment is for 9:00 she said yep but you need it to be here at 8:30 to fill out paper work . Office opens at 9:00am on the web.... No appologie no attempt to help . She said you can wait i don't know how long but will try to squeez you in between appointments..no idea how long. My grand daughter goes to school as is and I had to go to work late so I can take my grand daughter to this appointment.. I will never recomend this place to anyone sorry to see an eye glass place that have no interest to help their clients... Why are you in Bussines ???? As an older adult with some eye problems I couldn't ask for a better experience getting my eyes tested for updating my lenses. Dr. Nell was thorough and patient with me. I had several questions and she answered them all. She explained in great detail and was very pleasant. She didn't rush me out nor did she treat me as a nuisance as other doctors have been known to do in other vision centers. Misty who assisted me with ordering my lenses was also very pleasant. I received a call to come in at any time to pick up glasses and that also was done within the time that I had expected. My whole experience with the Nationwide vision on 67th Ave in Glendale was excellent. I would highly recommend them. read more

Horrible experience.... I had a pre-scheduled appointment on 1/4/2023 210PM. I arrived at the DR office ready for my appointment 30 minutes early. I arrived and was told that my insurance could not be verified. Seems as though when I booked my appointment the front desk did not input my insurance information correctly. If you could not verify insurance pre appointment don't you think it is a good idea to call your customer before the day of to let them know? Fast forward 2 hours later I'm still sitting in the LOBBY waiting for their so called " billing department" to call the front desk back. If you will have patient waiting for hours at least be honest... The real reason they could not verify my insurance as I found out ( hrs later) their server as been down for " 2 days" Per female receptionist at the front desk ( tammy perhaps is her name?) . If your server has been down for 2 days... why tell me you're waiting to hear back from Billing? Clear BS on reception part. Then she proceeded to ask me If I still want to get seen as private pay. I couldn't wait any longer as my eye needed to be exam for painful infection. So now here I'm battling it out with my insurance to get my money back that I shouldn't had to pay in the first place! Very disappointed in my time here.. as a customer who has been coming to this location for years... I do not see myself coming back!! The only friendly concierge at the desk was the man who I believe is recently hired and is getting trained by the other 2 ( older female- wish I got their name's) receptionist. Highly recommended. My family had been loyal customers of a local private practice for 6 years- however my husband recently got new insurance from his job. The other place was awful- asking me to figure out the insurance or cancel my appointment because they didn't know how to verify it. I was so frustrated I looked for a new doctor. We found Nationwide - I called and the staff was friendly, competent and professional. They quickly verified my insurance and offered the customer service I expect. They are very careful- following all CDC guidelines to keep patients safe during COVID. Both my kids, my husband and myself have all had appointments and we are so pleased. The doctor was kind and communicated our options well. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Even though this is a "chain" this felt like a family practice. Our kids got great glasses at a surprisingly low cost, after being with a private practice we were accustomed to extraordinary costs- this was a pleasant surprise. Had a very good experience here. They were quick to answer the phone and appointments are available quickly. When arriving, they got me right back. I needed glasses for near and far vision and the optometrist suggested progressives. When I voiced concern, the optometrist answered my questions. I am so happy I got the progressives. The staff helped me pick out a cute pair. They worked with me and my insurance. The glasses arrived within a week before I left for vacation. I love my glasses, and I wear them all the time. I can see so much better. I scheduled a visit for my daughter and the experience was the same. They do a great job at the Nationwide on 67th and the 101 in Glendale. read more

My wife had an 11:00 appt. she didn't see the doctor until after 12:00 finally got out the door at 12:40. If you have an appointment please make every effort to keep it on that time. The staff is UNFRIENDLY. They don't take time to explain the insurance benefits. Just tell you to select a frame and keep adding options for lenses to the bill. Finally, they make a hefty bill and expect you to pay for it. Why not tell the customer about the insurance benefits and let them decide if they want to be in their budget. I have been a customer for 3 years and everytime I go, they make me feel as if a new customer has just entered their store. Why not take time and help customers to understand their insurance benefits and limits so that they feel comfortable. Now, I am looking for some friendly vision Centers in the neighborhood. read more
