We moved from a large house that was packed full of furniture and household items, including a shed full of stuff on July 5th, 2024 when the temperature was in the high 90's. Chris and his crew (4 people altogether) showed up when they told us they would be there, between 8-9am, showing up at 8:15. Right away, they were wrapping furniture and delicate items and being very careful with everything. They took apart items that could be taken apart, and moved a bunch of really heavy items without complaint. The last time we moved, another company tried to talk us into getting rid of our treadmill and other heavy items, but Chris and the crew just rolled right along with it. The move went great, we tried to keep the guys hydrated and they kept working all day until after 5 pm and still, not so much as a single complaint from one of them. Overall, all our furniture arrived undamaged and put in the right place and guys even had to move some furniture from one room to another (my mistake, miscommunication between me and my wife, who was at our old house) and still they just kept working. Chris is a real pro, a hard worker, very personable, great communication skills and he kept the move on track. When we were accepting bids I was almost passed on theirs because they were cheaper than all the other companies, but we took the chance and we're glad we did because Nation Capital did an outstanding job and we would use them in a heartbeat. read more

I HIGHLY recommend booking with them! I just used them for my move from DC to IL and honestly ended up going with them because even though they were initially more expensive than some other offers I received, they had stellar reviews and for an out-of-state move I wanted to make sure it was going with a good company. Justin was great in working with me to schedule things and get everything ready -- I ended up having to change my date because of winter weather back in IL and it wasn't an issue at all. The crew that came to pick up my stuff in DC was incredibly kind and fast -- Miguel was the head guy for their team and was very cordial. They came, wrapped things up, and packed it into the truck in just about 2 hours. Due to COVID-19 and them being super busy, my stuff was delayed in being delivered to IL but because of that I was discounted $200 which I was more than happy to comply with. Because it was delayed, I was unable to accept the move and they were okay with having my mom be there to accept it and gave me a secure link to pay for it online which was awesome. The only thing I'd note was that I missed the part that I had to pay half of the move in-person when my stuff was picked up via cash/money order so I ended up paying with card and that was an added 5% to the total of the half. Do not do business with them! read our experience and judge for yourself. In February 2022, my family hired Nation Capital Moving company to move their household goods and belonging from MD to CA. we paid the $4900 for the move. At the time, the business had good reviews on google and we felt comfortable going with them. This was probably the worse decision we could have made. After we received our shipment in CA, the designated destination, we noticed that we were missing up to 7 boxes. They were not there, no where to be found. We asked the driver and she had no idea. The boxes included thousands of dollars worth of designer bags and a very expensive keyboard (musical instrument) Couple of the boxes also included ALL our family pictures including my parent's wedding photos, me and my siblings childhood photos which are irreplaceable. The missing photos make my 70 year old mother cry every day, She will never get those memories back. We contacted the contact person at the company, he never gives us a straight answer or a solution to resolve this issue. he only asks tell us what is missing and when we do there is never a follow up or a call back. we suggested that we can help them track the deliveries for that day when our deliver was made, and see if our boxes were mistakenly dropped off at the wrong house. He never helped us track or audit the deliveries on the day of the drop off. No solutions were provided by him. This is absolutely unprofessional. we get it, A box might have been dropped off at the wrong location, but 7 boxes is a lot, and not having anyone in the company willing to track them down, or provide any type of solution or attempt to investigate it is absolutely unacceptable. I would like the company to track all the delivers on the day and week of our shipment, contact the households and try to track down our boxes. If they do not have the man power to do , they need to provide us with the list so we can do the investigative works. How can one company be so irresponsible and careless. read more

Exceeded my expectations! I moved from NC to NH 11/1/2019. I worked with Nick Davis throughout the process and he was so kind, professional and knowledgeable. This Moving Company is top notch. Absolutely no complaints. When I moved from NH to NC I literally had hired the "movers from hell" In Northern New Hampshire. A nightmare. I was terrified to choose a long distance moving company. I did my research and read reviews for at least 20+ movers. They are deceptive and tell you all good things that you want to hear. Do not fall for it. Trust your instincts. Legit movers who work to make you happy. I had a cross country move and would definitely use them again. They didn't charge me anything more/less than was promised. Just make sure you are accurate on your estimate! Few things others should know - At pickup it was all Nation capital employees & Penske branded truck - They consolidated the loads in MD before shipping cross country - At dropoff they hired a local mover to help - A few damaged items, but they were able to address my issues / concerns - Worked with Nick Davis for all the scheduling and then the Ops manager from that point on. It was a little strange that you switch contact points after the move, but the ops manager & Nick were very responsive I called 10 movers, and these guys were one of the lower bids. The one thing you need to realize is they don't guarantee the drop-off date (just a delivery window) for a cross country move. If you have the flexibility, these guys are great! read more

We requested and paid for a full service move July 2021. The moving crew led by Miguel did not seem to have a concept of care for the property (specifically floors) or the items that they were packing and moving. After unpacking the boxes, we realized that they had no idea how to safely pack items. They dropped a dresser and broke the corners of it and the legs on one side. They did not tell me that they had dropped it until I pointed it out at the new place. "oh yea, we dropped it" The other dresser was damaged on top. It appears as though something was set on top of it in the truck and was damaged during transport. I pointed the damaged out to Miguel, he said "just send pictures we'll take care of it." I sent an email about the damage to our move coordinator Justin the week after the move. No response. Having received no info on how to file a claim, I sent another email to Justin with several pictures of the damaged items. No response. It's been exactly 1 month since the move without a word from the company. Before the move I dealt with Chris, the owner. He was pleasant and accommodating over the phone. He had reached out to me a couple days before the move to ask us to reschedule the move due to an equipment breakdown. We rescheduled the move and got a $200 discount. He assured me that he would send his best crew and get the stuff moved on the new date. I let Chris know that we had an inventory update and he said that he would have Justin call me. No call and no response to the updates I sent via email either. Justin became non responsive after they got the deposit for the move. I have to say that if this was his best crew, I feel sorry for his other customers. The team did not seem to care about anything. They were uncommunicative, unhelpful, and just not very pleasant to be around. When they were trying to cram the treadmill through the door (yes cracking and gouging the plastic) I tried to give advice for how to take it apart. They basically just scoffed at me. However when I left the room, 5 min later they carried it past me having made the exact adjustments I had suggested. I'd give Justin zero stars for communication, Chris, 4 stars for his phone manner, The moving team, 2 stars for their just all around crappy job. 8 to 10 of our boxes are missing.( This is not including the $3,000- $4,000 dollars music keyboard which was lost) Anything from medical records to family and baby pictures to boxes of clothes, shoes, jewelries, handbags, cosmetics, dresser, shredder, frames and jackets were missing. They were either stolen by the company's employees or dropped off at the wrong house. We have contacted the company confronting our frustration on sadness on all the missing items but most importantly the baby, wedding and family album and pictures but they ignored us completely and not attempting to help out. We ask them to provide us the list of clients whom were also scheduled on the same drop off as ours to see whether they got our belongings by accident but we nothing. This company is handling our matter very unprofessionally and is not being responsive at all. We will never get our picture/albums replaced. I would never recommend this company. We recently moved from Connecticut to North Carolina. This was my first experience with a moving company. I got several estimates and Nation Capital was competitively priced, professional and easy to deal with. They arrived on time to pick up my items from my storage bin and packed and wrapped items that needed it and had loaded quickly. They stored everything and were able to deliver the day after my closing and no extra cost above the estimate. Only one item with damage and it was something I packed. Buyer beware of the old "bait and switch". This was my first and last time using the Home Advisor App. I was attempting to move myself between states and got quotes from several companies, including Nation Capital Moving, on Home Advisor. I had been living away from home for two months working during the covid pandemic and sleeping on an air mattress in my new home as I had no time to orchestrate a move. To obtain a quote, I was asked to recite a list of items in my home and was quickly given a quote of $2300 for my move. I thought of a couple more items after the fact that I texted to the agent. It seemed odd that nobody came to my home or even asked to do a facetime assessment of the move (as the other companies had). In hindsight, I should have known better. I made the mistake of going with the lowest quoted price (you always get what you pay for in life). When the day of the move finally arrived, I drove the 4.5 hours back home to meet the movers. Unfortunately, I discovered that the company got the date wrong. They were initially great about the mixup and came the following day instead (though not ideal for me because I had to go back to work). A friend of mine locked up the house and the movers loaded the truck without me there and told me they would deliver my items the following day. I was beyond shocked to receive a text message that, once the truck was fully loaded and I was powerless to do anything at all, the move was now costing me THREE times that of the original quote and that they didn't pack all of my belongings because the truck wasn't big enough. Surprise! I now also had to pay for a second move on some other date. The owner of the company got extremely ugly, yelled at me that I was the dishonest one and a "liar" and that this was my fault. I payed three times the estimated price for a partial move and somehow I was the dishonest one in this scenario. He refused to take my credit card (because he claimed I'm so dishonest...deflecting much?) and made me go to the bank to get cash to pay the grossly inflated bill while they held my furniture hostage (a true illustration of this particular dirt bags character). Way to put the squeeze on a single woman in a town where she doesn't know a soul. Masterfully screwed over an easy target. They gave me a low-ball quote to get my business and then smacked me with a much more inflated bill for only a partial move. I could never recommend a company such as this to anyone. The movers themselves were super nice guys and hard workers. It's unfortunate that they have to work for such an unprofessional and dishonest employer. Just beware. There are better companies out there. You have been warned. read more
