Uhhh... authentic Indian food in Austin? Took me two years to find but we did it! If your version of Indian food in Austin is a place like Tarka, have no fear. This place has been apparently been around for 5 years and its BANGIN. Top recommendations have to be the millionaire's curry and the samosas. I was also very surprised at how tasty the tikka con queso was (obviously not an authentic Indian dish but still damn delicious). Hit their happy hour during the week - the options are amazing and you can sit down with one other person to have drinks and a full meal for under 20 bucks TOTAL. read more

Nasha - Curry and beer - Indian Near Me - Austin, Texas

Such a unique spot that blends Tex Mex with Indian cuisine. Sound interesting? Not only is it interesting, it's delicious. Every item we ordered on the menu was spectacular and my favorite dish of them all was actually the dip we ordered at the beginning of the meal Tikka Con Queso which we ended up ordering two of because of how delicious it was. The Masala Wings and Onion Pakoda were also very yummy along with the Tikka Masala Enchiladas. The atmosphere is very casual and it's right off of east sixth on seventh so you don't have to get caught up in the craziness of that main street. Would highly recommend checking this place out! read more

I highly recommend Nasha's for lunch, which is the only time I ever go because of their thali platter special. It's a LOT of food for under $15, depending on the type of protein you get for the curry of the day. It's a good day if the curry is their tikka masala or chana masala! This place is also a Tex Mex fusion Indian restaurant. If you're feeling more adventurous and are a fan of "fusion foods," I suggest that you give their tostadas or enchiladas a try. read more

Indian x Mexican food?? Yes please! Nasha gives you the best of both worlds. I got the: - Tikka con Queso & Masala Wings for appetizers - Chicken Tandoori Tacos & Millionaires Curry for entrees My overall impression was that it was unique to have both types of cultures combined into their own dishes. What I enjoyed most were the two items on the second picture. The tikka masala sauce with queso was pretty good, instead of chips and going with Naan is the move! The Indian seasoning that were on the wings was also really yummy and had me wanting more. Although I did like the curry and tacos in the first picture, they weren't anything in my opinion that I found to be unique. All in all, I recommend y'all to come try them out. I give them a 4/5 overall. Would love to come back and try some other dishes of theirs such as verde masala or paneer enchiladas. read more

I like the unique take on Indian and Tex-Mex. I went here for lunch with some co-workers and thought the food tasted really good, though there are certainly better Indian and better Tex-Mex places not far away. I also liked that there were plenty of places to park for a weekday lunch. On the other hand, I was not a fan of the ordering experience. The process involves scanning a QR code on the table then ordering and paying through the website. There's an automatic 18% "venue fee". Is that the tip? If not, is it something else? And why not just include that in the price if it is? Are you supposed to tip since no one takes your order? Very confusing. Also, some of us ordered quicker than others so our food came out at different times even though we were all at the same table. Overall the whole process took longer than if we'd had a waiter/ waitress take it, but maybe I'm just old fashioned. Bottom line, the food wasn't good enough to overcome the ordering process so I won't be back. read more

Why did I wait so long to come here?!?!?! The Tex-Mex-Indian combos are stunning. The tandoori chicken tacos really had a gentle flavor of tandoori chicken, with a distinctly authentic taco. My boyfriend had the Chicken Tikka Masala. One of the best I had ever had. A bit creamier than usual, but rich in flavor and delicious. Sides - the onion naan was perfect, the onions were just caramelized enough around the edges. Raita was pretty good, though a little light in flavor. The dal soup was out of this world and gently spiced. Great service from nice people in a lovely atmosphere. Good for family dinners or a casual date night. Nothing fancy. Oh, we did not drink but the menu looked interesting. We will be back again and again! read more

Great place with interesting Tex Mex Indian fusion. Had "chips" (papad) and salsa, mango lassi with Jack Daniels, chicken tandoori tacos. Also some decent Indian food like their kheema. Worth a visit! read more

This is what fusion should be. The tandoori chicken tacos are to die for. Nasha is on my regular rotation.

I see many others like this restaurant but it's just not to my tastes. I was so excited to find a restaurant that mixed my two favorite types of food. Well two out of my top three. (Let's not forget Mediterranean in addition to Indian and TexMex/Southwest). Anyways, I only really enjoyed the pomegranate Mojito, as my tacos are were like fajitas, and the tikka masala was more like a yellowish-green soup that I wasnt used to. read more

Stopped by this restaurant while visiting from Dallas since it was close to my hotel. Was really disappointed that we didn't get to eat here. The restaurant smelled divine and the menu looked so good, but unfortunately the service made it so we had to make other plans. We were coming with a group of 8 for a bachelorette party and we'd called a week ahead of time and were offered private dining space upstairs as long as we spent a minimum of $300 on food. We called the day before to confirm and told we were all set. Many of our party arrived straight from the airport and when we came in, we were told they had no record of us ever calling and that they didn't take reservations at all. One of the servers told us they were going upstairs to set our group table but there were other parties up there (despite saying we'd have the space to ourselves) and then disappeared for 20 minutes. When we inquired with her about an update she seemed very flustered and told us she couldn't make it happen and didn't have a solution. Someone else came up to tell us they never serve groups over 4 unless we wanted to split up into separate tables. We didn't so they kindly told us we were welcome to leave. All in all really disappointing of an experience and I'm really sad about it read more

All spice no flavor, I love spicy food but I ordered a Chicken Tikka Masala and it was basically coconut and spice, the Chicken was dry and wasn't seasoned.. The Biriyani was even worse, had a chicken base to it which dryier than the Tikka Masala.. Embarrasment read more

Overall, really grateful this place was open late night (period). It's really necessary to have more spots like this and I'm grateful for the option of something fun and different. After visiting last night for my first time with my partner, I may be hard pressed to want to come again. Why? Food was lack luster, music playing was relatively poor choice for a dinner spot, and I over heard a conversation the super kind waitress was having with another customer that didn't best portray the restaurant's training of their employees. Food wise: Got the lamb tacos, side of Dal Soup, and the stuffed veggie poblano + jalapeño naan. The lamb was edible but relatively tasteless. The Dal Soup tasted like a bucket of salt. The Dal soup on the taco though was the way to go! The veggie poblano was a great try, but the quality of the veggie concoction wasn't really that tasty sadly. The papadam was awesome! The naan... well... great try doing something different! I wasn't expecting less than 1 jalapeño on the naan to cost $1.50 more than regular... but I guess so. Music wise: Jay Z, Beyoncé, Justin, Britney and the like... don't make the best tunes for a peaceful dinner. Cozy ambiance otherwise. Training wise: I don't think the waiters here are trained on the ingredients used in the meals, which is usually a red flag somewhere, somehow for me. A customer was asking for the ingredients in his meal and was told "oh I don't know, I don't cook." Mmm... not the right answer. I'm maybe of a different feather, but I think the person serving food should at least be willing to go check in the kitchen for the gentleman asking. With all that said, if it was late night once again and needed some munchies, id consider it if no where else was open. Great concept, just could be improved a bit and id be willing to pay more for the food and service. read more

DELICIOUS AND AUTHENTIC. I can't believe I'm saying this but I've never tasted Indian food like this! I think they use a lot of coconut or pistachio flavor?? Idk, but whatever it was, it was fantastic. Bravo, guys, bravo!!! It had a playful and quaint ambience. And you walk in feeling like the whole family is working there. I loved it. Growing up eating Indian food I can say you guys made it feel like home! Yummmmm keep it up and congrats to being open for more than 5 years! Nasha's has been a longtime favorite of mine! They're known for adding a lil "Tex Mex" to their Indian food. They offer a lot of really delicious vegan and vegetarian options. Served with fresh jalapeños. read more

We recently returned to Nasha and are still singing their praises! We were impressed back in 2015 when we wrote our first review. Since then a couple of poor reviews showed up-- which is surprising since we've never had a bad experience. In fact we've been there several times and each time has been better than the other. A few nights ago we met friends there and were once again highly impressed. The food is high quality and full of exotic and wonderful flavors and this time the service was even better! As busy as they were, they kept up with our needs cheerfully and with grace. They seem to work like a well-oiled machine, which usually indicates good management. The owner shows up and works in person and seems to lavish care on this unique gastro-establishment. As previously noted, the food is topnotch. We love the tikka masala, the biryani is simply amazing and the list goes on and on. It's the perfect venue for bringing friends visiting the city too. One cannot overlook the creative craft drinks such as the cardamon and curry jalapeno margaritas which are not to be missed! Our only suggestion is that we miss the candles ;( This was an extra romantic touch we really loved. In any case, Austin is lucky to have Nasha as a quirky, wonderful venue for the weird life. As two old time Austinites who have seen it all-- way back to the indomitable Les Amis, we hereby dub Nasha a genuine Austin hangout! It is not to be missed! Cheers C&P read more

There's something about Nasha that's super endearing, perhaps the colors or the decor? When I lived in a different city, every morning I would order a hot drink from a local Indian deli. nasha's chai masala made me reminisce on those times. It came out scolding hot and I could taste the hint of ginger and spice. It was also served in a silver tin cup covered with the cutest cloth. My partner and I tried two different curries: chicken vindaloo and millionaire. While the curries were spicy (we ordered hot), I didn't think the vindaloo was all the flavorful - it seemed a little flat (or one note) to me. That being said - the garlic naan was drool inducing and despite the curries falling short - it's the best Indian restaurant I've had so far in atx. read more

Came in here on a chilly night and got an incredible meal that hit the spot! Casual ambiance with counter service. To start we got an order of the Masala Wings, which were so juicy, meaty and flavorful - probably some of the best wings in Austin surprisingly. For the mains we got the Kheema Masala with ground lamb and the Tikka Masala, and (2) orders of the garlic naan (which we could've done with one order but it was delicious so we weren't complaining). Everything was absolutely delicious, great flavors, spicy but not overbearing, and quick, friendly service. Also a surprising wine list, paired well with the menu. This neighborhood gem will definitely be our go-to for any future Indian food cravings. read more

Curry jalapeño margarita?! Curry Queso!? YESSSSS PLEASE!!! This is definitely NOT your "average" Indian food! If you're like me and have a deep love for both Indian food and Tex Mex (I mean really, who doesn't!?), then imagine that love for both cuisines having a baby, and you're now talking about the amazingness of Nasha. All the chili peppers, onion, cilantro, and flat breads of both cultures, mixed with incredible sauces to compliment each meal. Tikka Masala, Saag, Vindaloo and Korma that your body has been craving, mixed with tacos, quesadillas, and enchiladas?! Seriously, nothing helps "Keep Austin Weird" more than this! ... I'm literally drooling just thinking about it. Top all this off with a kind and caring staff (quite the rare find) which keeps me coming back here each week! Thanks Nasha! read more

I'd give Nasha 2.5-3 stars. The service was 4 stars, but I think the food was a little underwhelming. We got the saag paneer, chicken tikka masala, panner naan and cardamom lassi. We were chatted with our sweet server, and she convinced me that getting "medium" spice would be sufficient when I asked for high. Needless to say, the saag and tikka masala did not have enough spices but the food is fine if you're hungry. Lassi was good, would recommend that. read more

We had lunch here on New Year Eve, a Friday. Seems like more of a evening bar kind of place. There were some people at lunch, but it wasn't bustling. Food was great. I had Chicken Shahi Korma, and my wife had a Chicken Biryani. Both were delicious. Nice place, will come back. read more

Until fusion Indian-Mexican is a regular institution across the country, I refuse to give a place that does it less than 4 stars. Both types of cuisine are amazing, both have their own set of smack-in-the-mouth spice and both tend not to be shy about grease, a temperament I'm wholly on board for. It's decorated in a kind of fun psychedelic motif and has a nice casual air that I could totally see sitting around reading a book in. The service is...I mean, it's service. It serves. The fusion margarita was a bit disappointing, I tasted neither curry nor jalapeno, but it was still tasty and refreshing. The lamb tacos were really excellent. They had a good balance of crunch, grease and zest and were an interesting, different type of taco. Surprisingly, the jalapeno naan and sauces stole the show. The naan itself is beautiful, like a greasy, fluffy carpet over which, at oddly regular intervals, are placed big slices of jalapeno. And yes, I could taste the jalapeno there. It was a great combination I haven't had before and I recommend. I liked the place. The food was interesting and different and the place itself had a nice feel. Definitely worth a try. read more

Pros: Food was super tasty and it came out quickly! Cons: The ordering set up was a little confusing but no biggie. The food here is good. Some of the items were a hit and some were a miss. We went with three dishes, the chicken tikka masala, lamb coconut curry, and the chicken slumdog. In our opinion, the chicken slumdog was our favorite of the three. It had great flavor and had some great spicy kick to it. Our second favorite was the tikka masala which tasted very traditional and was exactly what we were expecting. The lamb coconut curry was a bit off what we were hoping for, and we were not a huge fan of it. We also loved the appetizer (crackers and sauce) they provide were excellent. The garlic naan was a little thick for our liking. We are used to a little thinner naan and this felt a little pizza'esk and very filling. All in all, the service was very good, the actual dining area is not bad, and the food was worth the go. We will most likely be back again read more
