It's such a quirky cute little restaurant. It reminded me of much smaller version of Bollywood Theater in Portland, Or, and I loved it. I enjoyed the low key vibe of Nasha and could see this as being a local hangout. My only con for this place was the only have thali available for lunch believe me I survived and had a fabulous dinner. I ordered the masala wings and the Tandoori chicken tacos. I loved and dreamed about those wings. They had some crisp to the skins and the flavor was impeccable. If I were home...totally would have licked my plate. The wings came with quite a bit of fresh veggies, so ended up taking the tacos home and eating for lunch the next day (I heated them in the toaster oven) and they were delicious. I ordered the Chile Relleno with Chicken Tikka for takeout because I was very intrigued by the Indian Tex Mex items. Overall, I enjoyed my food quite a bit, but a few things made my meal less than perfect. The actual Chile Relleno was delicious and had generous amounts of chicken, but it was quite dry as if they skimped out on the Tikka sauce. I ordered a garlic naan on the side, and although I ate it right away, it was very hard and chewy, so I almost couldn't eat it. Holy Cow. As an Indian American, I'm rarely impressed by Indian restaurants and that is especially true for Austin. It's hard to find authentic Indian food like my mom would make but this place made me feel like I was back at home. I knew we were in for a treat when we talked to who seemed to be the owner (seems like a small family owned business). She reminded me of my mom which immediatly put me at ease. She gave us water in metal glasses which is what most Punjabi households use for every day use. The food was an interesting fusion of Mexican and Indian while still holding on to authentic Indian taste. We had the tikka con queso (with naan of course), the vegetarian chile rellano w/ verde sauce, and the paneer enchilladas w/ tikka masala sauce. From the first bite, I was sold and decided this was going to be my go to place for Indian food. Everything was so yummy! Note that the verde sauce is a green Indian sauce, not a traditional Mexican verde sauce. Highly recommend if you're looking for authentic North Indian flavors but with a twist. I was so excited to try Nasha because I haven't gotten a chance to try any Indian food in Austin. I was even more excited when I found out it was happy hour! I immediately put in for the vegetable samosas, the lamb samosas, and the "tikka con queso". There was the option to add lamb, so I made that happen as well. When those arrived, I couldn't wait to try everything. The tikka con queso was fantastic. I loved how cheesy it was with Indian spices. The lamb made it even better! I couldn't stop eating it. Until I ran out of course. Now, my favorite thing to eat at Indian restaurants are samosas. So these were the thing I was most excited to try. I will say, these were a bit of a let down. They were good, but I felt like some of the spices were overwhelming (like not blended well into the mix) I kept catching seeds on my tongue. I'm also used to the outside being a little less heavy. I'm not sure if this is the way to describe it, but the outside wasn't as thin and easy to bite into as I've had other places. For my entree, I had chicken saag. I also love saag and I was excited to dig in. I loved that it wasn't overly spicy and that you can choose your level of spice. What I didn't like was that it lacked the depth of spice. Normally, saag is such an explosion of flavor. This one seemed separated... like it needed more time to sit and soak up all the flavors. Many of the low rated reviews and commentary that this restaurant is expensive with small portions are quite puzzling to me. Our group did not have that experience. I had a quick dinner here with two of my kids and we also took a carry out meal home to my husband. We didn't order appetizers and all three of us had lots of leftovers. We had the Kale and Chana Dal Special ($10), Saag Curry ($11.00), Vindaloo Curry ($11.00) and an onion naan ($3.50). We carried out the Chili Rellenos with Lamb and Tikka Masala ($14). I am not sure where the other reviewers are eating dinner in central/east Austin that are paying less than $14 for an entree but they are not eating where I am. I found the restaurant to be a fresh take on a Mexican and Indian fusion. Each of the people in our party of four really liked the flavor and preparation of their dish. Three had medium spicy and I had Hot. The level of space was pleasing to each of us. The Naan was good. The in-restaurant service was prompt and polite. They timed the carry out dish perfectly for the completion of the rest of us finishing our meals. This restaurant is small and there is even a small parking lot in the back if you drive there. It is conveniently located at 7th just east of Comal. I have wanted to try this establishment for a long time and am glad I finally got there. Came here for dinner on a Sunday evening, the location is pretty small but wasn't too busy. They have some happy hour specials including half off apps on weekdays and some interesting drinks like curry margaritas (not sure how to feel on that one) We started out with some garlic naan and the lamb samosas. The lamb samosas were really well seasoned and super flavorful, make sure to cut them open before digging in because they are piping hot. Compared to most of my naan experiences this one was pretty subpar, the bread was dry and I wouldn't have been able to tell it was garlic naan from the taste of it. Even when dipping it in our sauces the naan still tasted old. For my entree I had the tikka masala enchiladas. The masala tasted great, it was such rich and reminded me almost more of a butter chicken than the usual tikka masala flavor. The enchiladas themselves were okay, the ground lamb wasn't quite as flavorful out of the samosas and they were much greasier than I was expecting. The guac portion was super small and having it scooped on top of lettuce didn't go too well with the rest of the dish. Overall, their traditional Indian items seem to be their strength (the bite I tried of my friend's vindaloo was the best tasting part of the experience), but even there there's some misses such as the naan. The Mexican side of the fusion doesn't bring anything too spectacular and it was an overall solid meal, but in a city filled with fusion options I think you can certainly find better. read more

I really like the vibe of this restaurant. It just makes your mind turn off and just be with the crowd. We came for dinner and all the lights were pretty mesmerizing. We both kind of sat there in silence just enjoying the little scenery and zoning out. I ordered mild chicken curry and she ordered the lamb dish. My chicken was a little dry but the yogurt made it work. I really enjoyed the scenery more than the portion size of the food. My bf and I were craving for Indian curry so we decided to go to Nasha one evening. We got the millionaire curry with chicken/lamb , garlic naan, and rice. The place and ambience is extremely cozy inside, their outdoor seating is filled with lights and also very nice. We waited not too long, and our curry came out. The size portion was a bit smaller than we anticipated for the price we paid for. The curry had a very strong spice spell, and overpowering to the taste. We personally thought it was so bitter and sadly he actually bit into a chunk of the spice seeds. The meat though was quite tender- lamb and chicken but overall, it didn't really meet our expectations. Wonderful discovery! Excellent food and service. My husband and I came here for the first time yesterday to eat a little cheaper before going to an Alamo Drafthouse movie. (Their food has gotten boring and expensive). We arrived during happy hour with discounts on appetizers and drinks. Finally tried this place after years of passing it, and of course now I regret not trying it sooner. My friend and I got the veggie samosas, chicken biryani, and the tostadas(can't remember the right names of everything). First of all the samosas were good but the sauces that came included were so flavorful and fresh tasting, like those alone made the dish for me. I loved my tostadas, they had chicken and chickpeas on them and they were delicious. I was hesitant about how the flavors would combine together but it worked. My friends biryani was great too, I'm going to get it next time. I also had a cardamom margarita and omfgggg this alone man, wow. Been meaning to try this place out for some time and it did not disappoint! as an indian it's hard to get Indian food from Public because you're never sure how it's gonna be but don't think twice about it Nasha has to be run by Indians. The millionaires curry was incredibly powerful and i got the desi hot and they took it to heart, it hurt so good. Shrimp biryani is certainly rare and i hadn't had it before but it again was stellar. The paneer enchiladas were an unsure mix but they have clearly mastered the tikka masala and it went together perfectly with the corn tortillas. Nasha is one of my favorite spots on the east side. I am obsessed with the chicken tikka masala enchiladas! So yummy. Also the naan is great. Love the ambiance inside and outside as well. Parking lot is pretty small but there's lots of street parking. The service was really great the last time I was there, which was good to see because I felt like it was hit or miss before that.
