For $16 a plate having it grilled when you order is basic (like "Maki Stand Roll and Bento" in Redmond!). This place mails it in big time. Also - $16-$18 a plate doesn't even include an actual plate or silverware. They serve everything in to go boxes even if you sit inside at a table. Their water to drink? Hot! The machine doesn't even dispense room temp water. Then of course their check out system asks for a tip. For what? A walk up order process? No thx. Why 2 stars? That food is actually ok and you can tell this was probably a once great teriyaki spot but the owner has really let go of any pride in his work. I wanted to support local on the Plateau and visited Nasai Teriyaki near Trader Joes and Safeway. Like everything, the cost of food and services has increased and the #1 Chicken Terriyaki is $14.99 + tip and tax so close to $20. Costs aside and the portions and wait time, I was disappointed. It took 20+ minutes to get my to-go order even though I was the only person in the restaurant. Someone placed an order of 3 chicken Teriyakis, 10 minutes after me and there food arrived before mine was available. I voiced my concern about the crazy long wait time when no body was in the restaurant and me arriving at 3:45pm... I was hoping that maybe it took so long as the food was being freshly cooked and would be piping hot... I took it home and ate it and the food wasn't warm so this wasn't the case. I think the long wait to get my food was due to either poor communication from the front of the house staff to the cooks or the cooks were on break when I ordered... I love teriyaki and I always drive past this location so one day after work I stopped by . Although I'm glad I tried it, I'll never be back . The customer service and friendliness just wasn't there , but it was better than the food was. The portion size was great but the chicken did NOT taste anything like teriyaki . It looked more like a thin thin layer of gravy or something . I didn't even finish it , I'll bring it home to my kids. The salad dressing was good , but that's about it . I was really hungry so I decided to grab some chicken teriyaki to-go. The food was prepared quickly and I was happy they remembered to put napkins and a fork in my bag (because some places forget). The salad that came with the teriyaki was alright. Standard teriyaki joint lettuce and dressing. The rice was also fine. The chicken... the chicken was tasty, but I got really unhappy when I realized that the entree box was overflowing (too much chicken and a bunch of sauce pooling in the bag). I was not interested in carrying around a leaky teriyaki box all day and not interested in eating more chicken in one meal than I probably eat in a week or maybe even a month, so most of it ended up in the garbage. This "serving" would have been great for a group, but for me it was annoying and led to a stomach ache (even though I ate maybe 1/3 or 1/4 of the food). The food was pretty tasty and a good value ($10 could have probably fed 3-5 people) so I'm going to have to go with 4 stars... but I don't want to get any entrees here in the future, and probably won't go back at all. read more

It always smells awesome when I walk by. I'm always after my husband to eat. Last night I bought three entrees: chicken teriyaki, spicy chicken garlic teriyaki, and pork teriyaki. It was about $40 including tax. No worries because the portions are a good size. The only one that was edible was the regular chicken teriyaki. The pork was really overcooked and tough. My friend and I have just ordered 4 entree's and within 10-15 minutes we had our food ready to go. My kids loved the chicken teriyaki and it was enough to feed both of them for two meals. There is also a brown rice option, which made the meal reasonably healthy. Side salad is just iceberg. Pretty much a throw away. My husband ordered veggie Pad Thai for us and this is less of a value. Still a huge portion but the addition of tofu made the whole order $11, which I would not consider cheap. Was enough for three meals total. Of course, if you want real Pad Thai go to a Thai restaurant. The noodles were surprisingly spicy and that's all the good I have to say about the dish. Definitely not authentic. No vegetables, not enough tofu (even after spending extra for it), not enough of anything except noodles, noodles, and more noodles. Plus, they threw white rice into the container. It's a clean place and the order was put together correctly, but there's no joy in this food. My order of chicken teriyaki (#1) barely showed evidence of being grilled, it certainly didn't taste that way. The sauce meets the definition of a teriyaki sauce, but it was uninspired enough to come out of a Kraft Foods bottle. Service was similarly hum-drum. Food is ok but customer service is awful. The husband is always frowning like he is not happy to see you buying their food. I thought I will support a local business buy buying my son's dinner even though we have food at home. So I ordered the regular chicken teriyaki with one of the owners (wife). The security screen caught my attention as I waited for my order. So I decided to put my glasses on and see how the food was being prepared on the screen. I thought I saw the cook touching the garbage as he was preparing an order but quickly realized there were two people in the kitchen, one was cooking while the other was cleaning. The next I heard was the owner (husband) yelling "what you watching", those were his exact words. He might have repeated himself twice because I was so focused on what I thought I saw was an unsanitary food handling. So I responded by saying, I was watching how my food was being prepared. I thought that was rude of the owner to yell at me but to top it off, as soon as I was done responding, they started talking in their native language. It was very obvious they were talking about me. I was not doing anything wrong. The security screen was located in an area where customers ordering or waiting for their food can see it. I suggest they place the security screen behind and under the counter so only them can see it . This whole occurrence just turned me off.
