This is one of those reviews where I think if they could get some help, they could quickly raise their rating. The food I had was quite tasty, but when the sushi chef is having to wait tables as well as make the food, it is too much to have high expectations. I decided to give this place (along the SR 267 corridor that crosses over I-70 as the first exit to Plainfield) a try. I pulled in for lunch in front of the restaurant and noticed a "help wanted" sign, which I've learned should immediately lower your expectations. Fortunately, most places seem to manage in the short run. When I entered the lobby, a sign directed me to the main dining area by the bar. I saw a couple of folks dining but they may have been employees since they ended up going back to the kitchen area and exiting a side door. Anyway, one of them let the waiter/chef know I was there. He was soft spoken and I wasn't sure if I heard much of what he said the entire meal. I grabbed a menu off a table since I had decided to sit at the sushi bar. He brought my water and I ordered a bowl of veggie Tom Yum soup to start. Later, I ordered a 2pc Nigiri Sake (salmon) and an Eel Avocado roll. The chef (before I knew he was the chef) began working on some "to go" order before bringing out my soup. When the soup, which was full of flavor, but not spicy hot like I've had elsewhere, arrived without a napkin for me. I mentioned it and I was given the chopsticks, napkin, and a dish for soy sauce. The soup was good and piping hot but the shape of the spoon made it hard to get the vegetables, especially the broccoli over the lip of the spoon. Before I finished the soup, the chef had finished the other order and brought out my entrees on a plate. Everything looked and tasted really good too! However, I had to ask for the soy sauce since he had forgotten to bring it as well. See the pattern? Again, I enjoyed the food and when I was finished, I was quickly able to check out. Note that I was the only dine in customer at the time. What must it be like if a large group or several tables of customers had arrived? I don't know that I can give this place any higher rating despite the good food until they get someone who can help fix the service issues so that the chef can simply cook. Review #3592

Very 2 1/2 stars. But closer to 2 than 3. The place was very dim lit. It was kinda dungeon or bar feel. It was certainly not a welcoming environment. You walk into and empty unmanned host podium. You have to figure out for yourself to walk into the back of the place. It seems to be built uninvitingly. It is backwards. You walk past the kitchen and bathrooms to the dining room. The atmosphere was so dreary that I didn't even feel like having an adult beverage with my meal. The food was adequite. Unimpressive. Not bad, not good really. It was just meh. The place was very slow. I can understand why. It was not a positive dining experience. I recommend avoiding the place unless you are in one of the immediately located hotels and have to have Japanese food.

To the left, as you enter, is the game area with 5 pool tables, a dart board, a video game, and a shuffle board area. To your right of the main bar is the dining and D. J. area. There are 8 6-top tall tables for larger groups. For those who need regular tables, there are many along the bar. You'll find a second smaller bar with 11 bar stools for super busy nights. Want to watch a game? Then you're in luck since you can see a flatscreen wherever you sit. Looking for a night of music, then you're in the right spot. Just check their website for the details. This bar offers something for every person who enjoys tasty food, music, a place to enjoy pool, darts, pull-tabs, and shuffleboard. The main u-shaped bar is large (30 stools), with many regulars who are recognized as soon they enter. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming to everyone. The menu has the typical pub food with daily specials. The appetizers are plentiful, and many are large enough for a main course such as the Heavy Slop Tots, Mile High Nachos, Loaded Potato Wedges, 5 Pepperoni Breadsticks or Wings. The Heavy Supreme Salad is different topped with sausage, pepperoni, and then regular salad ingredients. The chili, loaded or not, is good. Loaded is my personal preference, but hubby prefers just the small, diced onions. The past week, I ordered their excellent baked potato and topped it off with my loaded chili. So good! All kinds of sandwiches and wraps provide a nice selection to choose from, and each sandwich is served with one side (upgrades available). The Reuben served with onion rings was tasty. Both were a tad greasy, but the rings are deep-fried, of course. The 1/2 lb pork tenderloin is huge and can be prepared grilled or breaded. My husband has gotten it grilled, and he asked they add Cajun Seasoning, which they happily did. Another popular choice is the fish sandwich (cod or tilapia) and grilled or breaded. Reasonably priced dinner options include a Sirloin Steak, NY Strip, Grilled Chicken, Fish (cod or tilapia) prepared your way. Heavy's round's out the dinner menu with New Orleans Pasta or Cajun Chicken Alfredo Pasta and even Fajitas. We made a specific trip Friday evening so my husband could try the Slow Roasted Prime Rib. Your portion size option is 10 oz. ($15.49) or 16 oz. ($18.49). The server had raved on and on, so he was looking forward to a decent Prime Rib. It was anything but good!! As you can see from the attached picture, it was a lump of fat. Maybe it was just an off night, but neither of us will order again. The sides were great, and as I noted before, the baked potato is really good. Pizza, calzones, and Strombolis are perfect for large groups to share. Our servers were friendly, attentive, and hustled. Other than the extremely fatty Prime Rib, everything we've ordered has been good.

The 2 waitresses were really hustling and were very nice as they worked together on the busy valentine night. Ordered the spicy cheese balls that came with 2 ranches and they were delicious!! The chicken tenders with fries were hand battered, all white meat and so yummy. The tenderloin was also decent size and hand battered as well and the onion rings were flaky and crispy. The drinks were tasty, had a Long Island and a blue sweet tart drink that actually tasted like the candy. Played a few rounds of pool for $1 each and if u want to play darts they have them too. This is in no way a reflection of the business (the new doorman was black) but more so the area, I did not feel comfortable being 1 of 3 other black people at this establishment. Just something to point out as a black woman who looks for reviews like this when I'm going go somewhere new and want to check the temperature of the crowd. Aside from this all. I tried a green tea shot for the first time & loved it. I also got a lemon drop shot that was good but ice cold (is this typical?) I took it and got brain freeze. nevertheless, it was tasty as well

Our server Emily was cheerful and informative. A parking garage across the street served us well for dining at this restaurant and attending an event at Hendricks Live across the street. The shrimp cocktail appetizer featured fresh large shrimp with dollops of horseradish on the plate and a nice sauce. I enjoyed the steak frites entree, a generous portion of steak perfectly cooked, served with a delicious broccolini and tasty fries. My sister ordered the chicken marsala and noted that she would have liked more sauce, and the truffle potatoes were delicious. My brother said his huge pork chop was perfect, and my sister in-law recommended the sirloin steak. We had reservations and were seated at a high top table, which is not my preferred way to dine but the restaurant was full so we didn't ask to be moved. We had a bit of a wait for our entrees and chalked that up to it being Saturday night. There is a separate bar area and rooftop dining with igloos available.

I drove an hour to visit this place and saw lots of good reviews. I started off with a lemon drop and a snack short rib eggroll. The lemon drop was watery and just did not hit like I would have hoped (I'm a lemon drop girly). They do use Titos as their well so that was good. The egg roll was dry- you definitely need to dip in the wasabi aioli to make it palatable. Next up were the buffalo chicken hush puppies. I like the idea here. The inside was moist and flavorful and the outside was kind of dry and drizzled with what I think was ranch. They were ok. I have a Ceaser salad add chicken and "fried" Brussels sprouts. The salad was suppose to come the onions , there were none so the waitress brought me some. The salad was mid at best and the chicken was dry and unflavored. I asked for some spicy ranch and that saved the salad! The Brussels sprouts were pretty good. My friend had the potato soup and said it was very watery (not creamy at all). I enjoyed the live music and overall vibe but good was average. Parking is an issue as well. There is parking in the rear or a parking garage but not super convenient parking.
