I like to come here every week. Their sushi never disappoints nor does their miso soup or edamame. They have a large choice of sushi and with 50% off dine in sushi Tuesday/Wednesday it is a VERY hot spot! My only 2 gripes are as follows: 1.) the wait times can be extended and often times when they say "10 minutes" it turns into a 25 minute wait for a table. (Make a reservation) and 2.) the servers are not always super friendly or adamant about refilling beverages. It is not unusual to only have your drink full twice throughout the meal. Had a need for sushi so decided to go on half price night. All tasted fine and the three of us ended with a clean plate on five shared rolls. The side salad was good too. Love that dressing. With the decision to put a roundabout to get to Costco they lost their driveway and easy entrance to their restaurant. I took my little sister and her girlfriend for their 1st time to experience the Hibachi grill. We arrived around 5pm on a Friday, and we're sat right away. You join a table that seats 8 around the grill. We were greeted at the table, and they took our drink order right away. I ordered the grill with the filet mignon. My little sister ordered the shrimp grill and her girlfriend ordered the chicken option. The grill includes soup, salad and steamed rice. If you want fried rice or noodles, it is an additional $2.50, which I was surprised, because previously when attending hibachi grills, the fried rice was included. This was not our first visit but it has been many years since we have been to Hirosaki. We were craving hibachi and were in the Avon area so decided to try them again. We were seated right away. There were about 4 other people at the dining/grill before we got there and another couple was seated right after we were. Our drink orders were taken right away and then our orders were taken shortly after. The restaurant is spacious and there are tables to sit at and dine if you do not want to do hibachi style as well as a bar area. The miso soup and salads with ginger dressing were brought out in good time and our appetizers were brought out shortly afterwards. The miso soup was good and the salad had fresh, crisp lettuce with plenty of dressing. We ordered the "monkey brain" roll which has avocado and spicy crab meat with a spicy sauce. It was really tasty! The chef then came out to prepare our entrees. He was interactive and funny and did a good job with the food. I went to Hirosaki for a nice hibachi lunch. We went with two friends and my wife and daughter. My son stayed home so I placed a to go order. The lunch prices are still available on Saturday which is nice. One common thing I have noticed is that it is a place where dinner will be a bit more expensive vs lunch so I am glad the lunch menu was available. The service was great very attentive both from our waitress and the cook. They do have a good sushi, shashimi menu on top of the hibachi menu. My friend did order the lunch sushi combo which is nice as you can pick the rolls you want from a lot of choices. The hibachi menu has the standard array of choices and includes soup but to add the salad is just a few dollars. The cook was entertaining and did a good job making all the meals and I ordered the scallops. I thought they tasted great. The vegetables here thought are better in quantity than I have gotten at other places. The fried rice was great and tasted less oily. Overall a good lunch experience. Upon entering, there is a koi pond in the lobby that used to be a cool aesthetic. Sadly, the water was murky and no fish could be seen, so there was some issue going on there. My husband had the spicy chicken dinner that came with rice, miso soup, and salad. He liked everything he got, but was a little annoyed that the spicy chicken entree was mostly onions. The women's bathroom was pretty nasty - 3 toilets and none of them flushed properly. Sushi Rolls are 50% off on Tuesday's and Wednesday's (dine-in only) so I decided to stop in today since I was in the neighborhood. I was seated immediately in a booth and my server arrived quickly. A bright bar area with table seating is available just behind the hostess stand if you prefer. The dining area is split in half with booths and 4-top tables on the left side and hibachi tables to the right. The dining area can become quite loud since a wall doesn't separate the hibachi tables from the dining area. The atmosphere is relaxed with low lighting and several tables that can be pushed together for larger groups. The hibachi lunch can be ordered from the dining area (booths/tables) or you can sit at the hibachi tables for the show. I started with the Spicy Crab Roll (8 pieces, $3.75) and the Spicy Crab Cry Roll (8 slices,$6.48). The Spicy Cry Roll is Wasabi, Ginger, Spicy Crab inside, topped with Spicy Crab, Spicy Mayo and Sriracha. It is spicy but not crazy hot and probably most can handle if you can take a light spice. The Spicy Crab Roll is the cucumber filled with the Spicy Crab. For lunch, I ordered the Hibachi Scallops which are my favorite and very affordable at lunch for $13.95. Hibachi lunches come with soup or salad, fried rice (sub noodles $2.95), veggies and choice of protein. My lunch came with 5 large, very tender and lightly grilled scallops, a crispy salad with a yummy ginger dressing, a generous portion of fried rice and grilled mixed veggies of onions, broccoli, mushrooms and carrots. Everything was prepared perfectly and the scallops were extra delicious today. Or I just was hungry for scallops. Joyce, was an excellent server, who was prompt, professional and courtesy and who was working with a large lunch crowd rush. She handled the rush like a pro. Hirosaki has been one of our favorite places for sushi since our son moved to Avon. Located on Rockville Road just east of the new Costco, it's a relatively easy trip. (We come from Shelby County). On 01/04/2025 at 11:37 am my husband and I entered the restaurant to celebrate my birthday. There were several employees present. There was a mop bucket in the middle of the floor, one person sweeping a floor in the room past the entry area and at least three other employees near the hostess- type stand area. NONE OF THEM EVEN ACKNOWLEDGED us. We waited several minutes and when one of the employees walked by us we asked him if we could be seated. He replied "no". The person sweeping the floors looked up at us and turned his back. We left and went to Texas Roadhouse and spent our $150 there. I would not recommend anyone eat at this establishment. The website said the restaurant opened at 11:00 AM as did the sign on the door. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON THIS ESTABLISHMENT. I would give it a NO STAR rating. There was two of us and we were seated within 20 minutes. We got 4 rolls - the Dynamite Roll, Hero Roll, Lion King Roll, and Lobster Roll and that was the perfect amount for the two of us.
