I came in with a friend to get my eyebrows waxed, as they have this service listed on the ipads when you sign in. When I was seated in the first chair, the lady said "oh no we dont wax threading is better" and proceeded to start threading me. She totally ruined my eyebrows! Now one is shorter than the other and one is rounded in the front and the other square. Im seriously pissed off and disappointed. My friends eyebrows were also uneven and she was in the third chair. So uneven her boyfriend noticed... thats when you know its bad. Never coming here again!!! Might as well spend the extra few $ to go somewhere clean and professional. read more

I'm a regular at Ziba in Santa Ana and decided to give this place a shot after I received a mailer with a $3 off eyebrow threading coupon. $6 for threading w/ coupon? That totally beats Ziba in the price department, PLUS the place is five minutes from my apartment (Bristol and Paularino on the left hand side if you're going north on Bristol). I figured OK why not; I'll branch out and give it a shot. When I arrived I was their only customer and three girls were sitting around just...waiting for...me? It's a hole in the wall kinda place and the decor isn't bright, loud, and clubby like Ziba, which is a nice change of pace. The name of my girl was Navi (not Na'vi, you geeks) and she was quick, considerate of my pain level (which was nil since I'm used to threading), and even offered me lotion to ease the redness and usual stinging (something Ziba doesn't offer aside from their usual toner). The good: I didn't break out & my brows looked great The bad: I got a cut right above my right eyelid from the thread; that's never happened before in the 8 years I've gone to Ziba. Would I go back? Mmm...well, the price says a lot about the service, which isn't bad, but moreso...mediocre. If I was flat broke then perhaps I'd consider it, but I'll go ahead and just pay the $11 price at Ziba. read more

My second visit to nanu and boy was it a better experience. My first had been at night when only one woman was working. I hadn't checked yelp for thread-er referrals so I just gambled my brows away. Terrible. I had to suffer through shapeless man-brows until they grew out again. Anyways on my recent visit and yelp homework complete, I put in my written request for Anj. Services provided: Brows and upper lip My instructions: Just a little shape and arch Total: $9 for brows and $5 for lip Tip: $3 (a little over 20%) As always there is that funny and painful tingling, watery eyes, and tension when undergoing the threading procedure but one must endure. She spent a great deal of time shaping (since I was the only client in store) and was gentle when she could be. I was perfectly satisfied. My brows look awesome. My 1 star deduction? She was about to start on my brows before inquiring about my wants/needs. Wasn't sure what would have happened otherwise? Still, very happy. read more

Have you ever watched those beauty gurus on YouTube and wished you had their beautifully drawn eyebrows? Luckily, I USED to have those eyebrows before I made the mistake to come here for a cleanup. My eyebrows are naturally thick and peak at the right spot. With a thread clean up here and there I rarely have to worry about them. Today, 2/11/16 was the day I needed to get them cleaned. I have my usual spot, but any place will really do. I've never had a bad eyebrow threading, up until today. I knew right away I had messed up as soon as she started. It didn't feel the same. Her "technique" wasn't the same as everyone. She kept going back and forth between the brows taking more and more off on the bottom and little to none at the top. The horror came when she handed me the mirror. They were shaped like a thick rainbow. I wanted to cry. I quickly handed her my card and ran to my car. So here I am, with awful eyebrows. Luckily they grow quick and I should have my beauties in a couple of weeks. I guess I'll have to learn how to draw them in for now. read more

I came here yesterday to get henna tattoo with two of my interns and let's say my henna looks horrendous and was overpriced. I got both hands which in the design book was 25 bucks but I changed up the design a little and it was actually less extravagant than the book and was charged 35. Not to mention she did a really ugly design of her own On my one hand even and messed it up while it was drying. One of my interns and I got the girl in the thick glasses from Nepal (do not recommend her for henna at all). My other intern got one of the other girls and she was really good. This review is firmly for Twinkle. She has been threading my brows flawlessly for several years now. On three occasions I have gone to a different place and regretted it. Twinkle was kind enough to not laugh at me when I returned to her with tail tucked begging her to fix my eyebrows. I've learned my lesson and even though I have to drive 25 min since moving, I still wait until I can make it out to see her. She has a keen eye for shape and she is very gentle. First time here. The lady in the second chair made my brows look absolutely awful and uneven. They don't even look remotely close to each other. When I mentioned it to her she said my eyebrows grow bad??? I hadn't touched my brows in weeks so she had a full canvas to work. I don't tolerate ANY kind of pain at all very well which is sometimes problematic when it comes to beauty and my eyebrows. I'll first preface by saying I've been threading since I was 14 (waxed for a little bit before that) and have only trusted one place to do my eyebrows- Shear Artistry in Diamond Bar, CA by my home. I tell you- 7 years later, I still cringe at the thought of the hair getting pulled out. In any case, my eyebrows were looking terrible one day and I mean- genuinely terrible. I wasn't going home that weekend and finally gave in to try this place that so many fellow Yelpers had recommended. I was a little nervous at first and thought about backing out a few times but figured it was well worth it to save myself from becoming deemed a gorilla. I'm not sure who it was that did my eyebrows but they came out pretty good. She took longer than usual- about 10 minutes. She kept asking to make sure I was ok and she didn't yank the hair out of my skin. Overall, I would come back and would definitely recommend this place. I've gone here for about a year now. I've gotten my underarms waxed here for $15. They take you into one of their rooms in the back and you lay down as they wax you. It's no different from any other place. But sometimes they miss a few hairs and they just leave it there. Their room in the back looks kind of ghetto though. I stopped get my waxes done here. I also get my eyebrows threaded here. Most of the time they come out sharp and clean looking for $9. And once in a while they're not completely even but good thing my bangs cover up one of my eyebrows. And threading for the upper lip is $5. I come here on weekdays and it's pretty dead. Come here on weekends and its packed. But they get you in quickly if you don't request for a certain person. I've never waited for more than 5 minutes. I was recommended by a friend to go to the Nanu Threading in Cerritos. However, because I stopped working around the area, I needed a new spot. I love this place even more than the Cerritos' joint. The person who threaded my eyebrows used small, soft strokes compared to the other Nanu's location- so it didn't hurt as much. Overall, I will definitely come back here! read more

I come here when I don't feel like driving to Vinita's in Tustin, which for some reason is pretty often. It's never busy when I come on the weekdays in the early afternoon.. not sure if that's a good or bad thing? 97% of the time I am very happy with the results but one time I think I got a newbie and let's just say I was not very satisfied. Let me start first by saying that I am EXTREMELY picky about my eyebrows. I have never gotten them threaded before, and I just moved to the area so I lost my waxing lady. My roommates all have theres done and talked me into getting mine threaded as well. I yelped places for threading and Nanu came up. She even gave me a massage after the painful experience, something I don't get back home! She convinced me to do my lips and it hurt so much, I just know I'm not doing it again lol. The store was clean! and no one was there so I was seated immediately and my threading lady got to work. Twinkle just did my henna and always does my threading. She consistently does a great job and is meticulous in her work. I love the henna tattoo that she did on my back. For those that weren't happy with their henna tattoo I would advise to not wet your henna tattoo for a period of 24hours because when water is place on henna it stops the henna from darkening. There's never a wait in all the times that I've gone. I usually go around 6 p.m. on a work day. The place is not very big, but it's really clean. In comparing this threading salon to the "chain threading salons" (cough Ziba cough cough), the decor and overall aesthetics is somewhat lacking but don't let that fool you because the service is great and the prices are very reasonable. I ask for Madu every time I go in. She is very sweet and VERY thorough. I am not too picky when it comes to my eyebrow shape. (My brows are comparable to that of a banshee - if it had eyebrows.) So really, I'm not one to complain if one arch is "off" or whatever. As long as they are neat and and nicely trimmed, you will get no complaints from me, and as far as I can tell, my brows have been looking better than ever ever since I started coming here. Madu is really great and she seems very knowledgeable as to what kind of arch suits your face. Good service with good prices. Can't beat that. Also, they offer a stamp card. I used to a be a regular at Ziba, but they've since become super commercialized and pricey with long waits. No thanks. Saw positive reviews for Nanu's so I decided to check them out. Even better, Nanu's cost less than what I was used to shelling out for Ziba. I was literally in and out of Nanu's in less than 15 minutes. I walked in and they immediately sat me down. I told her just to "clean it up" but I was still scared she'd do too much. To be honest, it'd been a while since I had my brows done. I was fully prepared for my eyes to start tearing up and for me to apologize for having tears run down my face like the last time I got my brows threaded. But nope, not this time.
