I wish I read the most recent reviews before going in! It's been a minute since I've been here last-- I went in for a simple cleanup. I explained at the beginning to just make them even. She did not make them even. My technician completely botched my eyebrows. Two different shapes. Thin and patchy!! Plus she moved hella slow, it was horrible! The male owner who was there, tried to intervene/explain to my technician that they were uneven. Excuse after excuse. Both of them staring at my uneven eyebrows for at least 10mins before I just had to go. I am disappointed that this once local spot has gone downhill so quickly. 10/10 would avoid letting anyone other than Nanu touch my eyebrows. I came back since I was so happy my first time around.. Which was a BIG mistake. My eyebrows are naturally shaped and full + fluffy. I asked for a cleaning, instead I got 2 different sets of eyebrows. Different shapes & different thickness. I'm trying not to crash out :) I pointed it out to the artist. And she swears she couldn't see the difference. I then asked her coworker, who then confirmed and apologized. I used to love this place but the past couple of times have been okayish. However this last time I went I asked for my upper lip waxed (like I always do) when she removed the wax she was very aggressive. when finished the lady put aloe Vera immediately without asking which I found weird but anyways I paid and when I got to my car I noticed that she had had not only removed the wax but also parts of my skin. My theory is she put aloe quick thinking I wasn't going to notice. I called and she said that it's because I have pimples which I know was not the case. read more

I am super disappointed to have been given a run-around and tall-tales about Twinkle who used to work at this location. Twinkle is my go-to-queen who I see for my brows. The last time I saw her, it was in early December. When I came back in early January and walked in, I was told by the establishment that Twinkle was on vacation in India and would not be back for a month. The establishment did offer to have someone else help me with my services, to which I declined, given my previous experience with a different person who was not Twinkle. (I learned the hard-way and don't trust anyone else.) I called mid January to confirm when she would be back and was told she would return January 31. I called on January 31 to ask if Twinkle had returned, to which I was then told Twinkle went on vacation to Pakistan, was supposed to return, but has not. There are several issues that made me finally realize something was off: 1. Twinkle has shared in the past that she is Indian. So when I heard she went on vacation to Pakistan (and it isn't to say she can't visit any other country, but they had made it sound like she was going home to visit family) the second time asking, it didn't make sense. 2. For a professional like Twinkle, she doesn't strike me as an individual who would say she would do something and not--ie. return to work but didn't. 3. While I understand there are ethics to businesses, it would have suffice if the establishment simply told Twinkle's clients that she was no longer employed instead of blatantly lying. I do hope the business will take constructive feedback into consideration and approach the issue better in the future. read more

I've been here a couple times over the last few years for eyebrow and upper lip threading. They used to do appointments but now it seems like it's walk-ins only. I feel like Covid hit them pretty hard. Decent cleanup work, pretty affordable pricing for their services, and located in a small plaza. I usually go in the morning and have never really asked for someone in particular to do the threading. Usually turns out fine, and they ask if you want witch hazel applied after. To be fair I gave this place many chances here is why I don't recommend it at all. 1- Very extremely rude (the entire team) 2- If you do waxing prepare yourself to leave with patches of hair 3- The quality of wax is terrible. 4- Always adding $$ on the original price 5- their definition of full stomach is actually half stomach, Brazilian wax they will for sure add at least $15 on the original price 6- they don't even pull the skin in the right direction while waxing leaving tiny broken hairs all over. I come here for clean ups most of the time since I pluck my own eyebrows, but I'm always in and out in under 10 minutes. I think out of the ten times I have come I've only waited once and it was for a maximum of ten minutes. They also have rewards and always send coupons for $2 off! They're amazing! Get your eyebrows threaded here. And RUBY is the best I love her. She always makes sure my brows keep their shape and they're not too thin. ***UPDATE***: Still go for Ruby. AMBIANCE: Parking: The plaza has a lot of restaurants but few parking spots. It would be okay but these restaurants are pretty popular. Seating: They have about 10 chairs to serve people and another 4 to wait. I believe there were about 4 people working here. Feels: Once again the plaza can get pretty popping during conventional hours, especially during the evening. The space inside is a your simple haircut/salon shop. A spacious shop that's pretty spotless (aside from the hair). Threading: Low-key painful but pretty effective. I really wish I had a before and after picture to show you the significant difference. The service was pretty quick to (5-10 minute) CUSTOMER SERVICE: Pretty good. Simple greeting, straight business, and out in the nick of time. TL; DR OVERALL: 4 Stars. Never again! I used to see Twinkle and she's no longer there anymore. Really not worth going to. The other ladies just are not as good. They took way too much off, even when I asked them to clean up lightly and trim minimally. She started threading in areas I asked her not to (ie above the brow). I wish I could give negative stars. My girl Twinkle isn't here anymore and he moved to Baba threading off of e. 17th street. Didn't know this originally and was LIED to by the manager that she was on vacation. I reluctantly agreed to try a different person who sits in Twinkle's old station and was awful. She cut my lid TWICE and I got up and left. My husband called and complained. Walked around with uneven, overly threaded brows for weeks. I normally don't trust anyone with my eyebrows (besides one person) but decided to give Nanu Threading a try since I'm travelling. My eyebrows was grown out and needed to be cleaned up. The eyebrow threading costed $15 usd and then a 15% tip. I realised that she didn't clean up the left eyebrow properly, I was still left with a lot of hair at the bottom. The right eyebrow was cleaned up more but not as great. I also was left with small cuts around my eyebrows. I was left disappointed by the work done and my eyebrows looks completely different from each other. Now I have to let it grow out and get it fixed. I don't recommend this place! read more

I always leave happy from Nanu Threading every time and I go with whoever is available. Nanu is a little out of the way and definitely more expensive than other threading places, but the Costa Mesa location is worth the drive and the money. My brows are what make this face so if anyone messes up these brows it will ruin my makeup routine time and just overall correcting with brow pomade, etc. Nanu Costa Mesa always gives me clean and even lines that I either don't need to touch up with brow pomade or if I do use brow pomade it looks just that much more immaculate. read more

Today, for the first time I feel the need to write a negative review. I walked in and asked for a cleanup around my original brows. I told the girl to not touch my eyebrows or shape whatsoever. Just clean up the hairs around them. I noticed she was taking a little bit longer than most girls usually do. When we were done she handed me the mirror and I realized my right eyebrow had completely lost all the hair I had been growing out for the last eight months. My left eyebrow however was slightly salvaged but of course thinned out. She also took the medial part of my grown out brows and thinned them, and did the opposite of what I asked. They were both very skinny almost like when I was in high school and the girls used to draw eyebrows with sharpie pens. They looked completely different due to her overcompensating on the right one. I am mortified as I have a national sales meeting next week. I have never had anything this embarrassing happen to me, nor somebody not listen to me to such the extent that she did. Based on her English I can tell now that she did not understand a word I said. I will never be back. I'm so embarrassed and this will take seven months to recover from. Please... If you don't understand, get someone who speaks English and does understand. Goodbye thick brows Thank you, glad you got a tip out of it. Twinkle did not live up to the hype. I came here based on the reviews and requested Twinkle per the reviews. First off, the customer service was lacking. She was not friendly, but I suppose the main goal is to get people in and out as quickly as possible. In addition, I saw some reviews saying your first time is $7, but when I mentioned it was my first time she just nodded and asked 'just a cleanup?' and I said yes, but I was charged $9. Not the biggest deal, it's still pretty cheap. Also, I have a lot of fine hairs, and people tend to miss a few here and there, but I usually catch them when I look in the mirror. However, it's hard to see the multitude of small hairs that were left behind in the dim lighting inside the salon, as soon as I got in my car and looked in the mirror in natural light I saw them all. I had half a mind to go back inside and ask for them to touch them up, but I didn't. Another thing I noticed was they don't rub aloe vera into your eyebrows when you're done. My favorite part of getting my eyebrows threaded is when they massage the gel into your eyebrows, after basically ripping your skin off I think it's necessary. All I got was two little swipes of an alcohol pad and was rushed out the door. Will not be returning. read more

Came here a few days ago in the morning since I was in the neighborhood. They're supposed to open at 10am but I guess they were running late and a few of the workers were standing outside waiting for the boss to arrive. I suggest you don't go at 10am, but rather, around 10.30am when they've gotten everything set up and ready to roll. I only had my eyebrows done this time because the upper lip hurts like a mutha and I really wasn't in the food to have much pain so early in the morning. My threader was Navi and she did a good job. So I live in the Inland Empire and am completely aware that there are plenty of places around my area to get my eyebrows threaded; however, I always find myself driving 45 minutes to Costa Mesa just to get my eyebrows threaded (jk I lied, I also stop by South Coast hehe). Honestly, I find it difficult to find "the one" so when I do, I will always come back no matter where I am... unless I'm like halfway across the world then it doesn't count. THE DETAILS: Located in the same little plaza with Anjin and Tapioca Express, it's pretty easy to find and has plenty of parking. The shop is modern, bright, and clean. You come in, write your name on a clipboard, what you want done, who you want, and then you wait. The girls that work here are very friendly and they are very experienced in what they do. The prices here are a little bit more expensive; I'm used to pay $6 and tipping a couple of dollars, but here they charge $8 for brows which isn't that bad but you get what you pay for. They also have a stamp card but I always forget to bring mine, so remember to keep yours on deck! THE PROCESS: I usually wait about 5 to 10 minutes, it's not too bad. I always, always ask for Twinkle. Yeah, I thought the same... her name sounds like a stripper... she may not be able to work the pole but man she knows how to work my eyebrows! I barely have any eyebrow hairs to begin with but she cleans my eyebrows and trims them to suit my face shape. She's quick and also gentle. The end result is always fabulous and I've never been disappointed! Twinkle is such a sweetheart, I love her! THE END? I'm actually making a stop by tomorrow to get my brows back on point. read more
