Ordering online was really easy. Pickup was a little longer than I expected, but I wasn't too bothered hoping the food would be fresh. Restaurant was empty on a Saturday evening, so that had me concerned. Lady brought out my food and it smelled great. I had the Spicy Seafood. The sauce was good. The seafood was a little overcooked and to seafood tasting. Edible, but nothing special. My boyfriend had the beef and vegetables. He ate it, but said he wouldn't get it again. Even the plantains were just not that great. I have made better myself. We may try the chicken one day since that is Peruvian specialty, but probably won't be back. read more

My husband and I visited this restaurant a couple of times for dining in, but unfortunately, the Latin music is always played at full volume, making it unpleasant to eat there. It's a shame because their food is very good. Interestingly, each time we were there, the place was empty. We've also gone two or three more times to pick up our food, and it was always empty. This makes us think it might be the same reason we haven't returned to dine in. My suggestion for the owners would be to play softer music that creates a relaxed atmosphere for the customers while they enjoy their meals. While they don't make any changes to the place or the music, I recommend this place for takeout only. read more

Stopped in to check out Nankar Peru for lunch. Ordered a Half Charcoal Chicken with two sides: Beans and Plantains - to go. Food came up in about 10 minutes. There is a good amount of seating to eat in. The chicken was tender, moist, and succulent. Two dipping sauces were provided - one has some very nice heat to it. This is 4min from my house, Just ordered from them and found out the place has been here 2 years! I didn't know that! Empanadas with the little sauces were excellent. I also ordered the beef and the chicken Chaufi, basically Peruvian fried rice and they were big portions. And the seafood cream was good but I needed it to be hotter and more seafood. So if you order it I would heat it up more. The staff was friendly and the only thing I didn't like was the black out glass windows make it look closed. I would maybe open the door to show they are open. I highly recommend the food, very tasty with just the right spice. Glad I found it. read more

We decided to try the new Peruvian place in town. It was okay. Here's why: First off, it looks like the online menu doesn't have everything they serve at the restaurant, which is a bummer. Online is basically chicken and a lot of fried foods. Second: Salchipapa? Your restaurant is in Gainesville and they are promoting Salchipapa. Shows they don't really know their market. Nobody really wants this. Should showcase and promote more interesting dishes from Peru. Third: The rotisserie chicken is okay. It has this interesting caramel glaze on the outside. I didn't really care for it. It was also rather dry and not juicy. If you're going to do the chicken thing, go big or go home. If you're trying to promote other dishes of Peru that are more interesting, do that and drop the chicken. Fourth: The best thing we ate was probably the rice. It tasted very fresh and was well seasoned. Give the guy in the back who prepared the rice a raise! We probably will not return until they figure things out. The food was prepared fresh, and the food was flavorful and delicious. The one thing I can criticize is some of the mussels weren't popped open and not quite ready. The soup was full of shrimp, mussels, and fish. The broth was wonderful. I do think a smaller version should be offered, but easily can be shared. The wings don't need any sauce but we got some bbq sauce on the side. I thought the wings were well worth the price point. I'm definitely going back to try the 1/2 chicken and chaufas. I just didn't like it, flavor was not there. Was it made to order yes, but something was lacking. The lomo saltado is not hard to make as a Peruvian myself. I compare this to Raices and hands down, no comparison. I don't recommend this place. I personally don't think they marinate the meat long enough. I was just passing through and wanted to give my support, but I wouldn't come again, I should have read all the reviews, and drove a little further away for something good. read more

I ordered several dishes to try this new Peruvian restaurant in Gainesville, all of it was take out. The person at the reception that took my order was pleasant and accurately estimated how long my order will take to be prepared. First all, I'm very excited that we finally got a Peruvian restaurant around this area. The Peruvian chicken was amazing !!!! One of the best one's I had , very well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The chupe de camarones was salty , however eating it with their white rice made an amazing pairing. The 'arroz chaufa' was not that great the rice was too mushy ; however it did have a lot of meat The lomo saltado was very bland and didn't have the flavor that I have been accustomed. Lastly the seco con frijoles was OK , I was surprised that I did not get 'salsa criolla' with it , again this is what I have gotten used to getting in other Peruvian restaurants when I have ordered this dish. I am already planning to go back to Nankar to order their amazing Peruvian chicken and I hope they get better at their other dishes read more

I live in Bristow and was happy to see a Peruvian restaurant in our area. My wife and I tried this restaurant 3 times. We ordered something different each time. We couldn't eat any of the food all 3 times. The taste was just off or wasn't cooked all the way. Compared to Tatys chicken in Manassas the food is night and day. read more

I ordered it to go and I love how they packaged with the Lomo separate from the rice and French fries. Love how there was lots of "juice" with the lomo and the flavor was great. Didn't even know this place existed and glad I found it on Yelp. Not sure how the rest of the food is but I will definitely be using this place as my go-to for Lomo Saltado. We usually order Peruvian from a spot in Manassas off of Sudley Rd., so imagine my surprise when I found this Peruvian restaurant super close to home. The menu looked good, normal Peruvian fare. So, I ordered chicken meals (with sides) and extra sauce. The yucca was amazing! Really fresh, not greasy and perfect amount of salt. The rice and beans were good and portions were good. The chicken was also good - hot, moist, and spice level was great! The sauce needs lots of help! Literally came in packets, like condiments from a convenience store. It was super watery and thin, both the yellow (aji amarillo) and the green (aji verde). To be fair, I ordered food to go, but still. The sauce ruined the meal for me. My family said the same thing. They've got take out to go and door dash, but this time my friend and I dined in, and I have to express how good the food was!
