Stopped into this casual restaurant for dinner before going home. Nice sized dining room and was greeted immediately. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas and got chips and salsa while I waited. I didn't wait long for my dish to be brought to me. Unfortunately, my enchiladas came without shrimp. The server shows two bring me some grilled shrimp to eat with my meal - lol! Consequently, I sat there quite some time and my food got cold. Since I was hungry, I ate it the way it came and I was not happy. I expressed my concerns to the Manager and he DEFINITELY made it right. The new meal I was served was tasty and what I would've expected for the dish. On our visit we arrived in time for happy hour which is a favorite if you can make it between 3pm-6pm! But they have many specials though even if you miss happy hour. Taco Tuesday night is a thrill and the Monday fajita special is a sure winner! We had their carne asada tacos on a lovely taco Tuesday plus a delicious happy hour margarita! The meat was a perfect tender texture with fresh cilantro and onions with their house-made green hot salsa. Just the perfect dab of spice to brighten up the authentic flavors. Decided to stop in here one afternoon for linner, on our way home from Baltimore. It is a nice location, but the food is just average. It did not seem like any of the tortilla chips were made in house. We ordered some queso and it was ok but not much flavor to it. I ordered the nachos with chicken and a chile relleno and my wife ordered the El Paso tacos. The nachos and tacos were pretty good, but the chile relleno should be renamed breaded sadness. The restaurant was empty when I walked in - which made me wonder what was going on - but within 10 minutes, six other parties arrived - and the restaurant was hopping. Sazon Latina bills itself as "Central American" cuisine - which I have very little experience with. But being a foodie - I will try anything. So I opted to order something off the menu that I have never experienced before: Polla Guisado. It's a stewed chicken dish, with a rich, delicious, savory sauce with carrots and potatoes. The flavor was luxurious - and the chicken has to be amongst the most ridiculously tender and succulent - I've ever encountered! Service was good, staff was great! My husband and I just visited for the first time. It was so good! The service was very attentive. The food came out fast and fresh. Very hot. I had fajitas w chicken and steak. It even came with a dollop of butter which is always a wonder addition to keeping meat moist and flavorful. My husband had the grilled chicken chimichanga. He said was outstanding. I was excited to try this place out with all the 5 star reviews. Now, I'm wondering what turn in the road could have led my 2 star review. Was it a honeymoon period that finally wore off? Could be, I guess. Upon entering, you see the dining and bar area is a big open room. Very clean. I appreciate that. I, of course, order cheese nachos and a coke. While I did eat all of my nachos, they really weren't the kind I would be interested in ordering again. Extreme cheese. I think the refried beans were under the cheese. Made them look a bit like ravioli. I forked the toppings onto each and folded like mini tacos to eat them. I say again, it was too much cheese. Also the jalapeños had a texture of mushrooms and were not spicy or hot, nor did they even smell like jalapeños. How does that happen? And in a Latino restaurant? I also asked for coffee to replace my coke. It was flat. Like the taste was odd. Waiter seemed not to want to confirm coffee though it was on the menu, instead he suggested coke from a can. I agreed. I asked for 2 arrow con Pollo dishes to go. They were each very large portions! Huge chicken on a deep bed of rice with orange queso. My son liked it. For me? I added some sautéed cauliflower and broccoli to mine and cut it all up. It was delicious. Oh! Let me not forget to cheer their salsa! Their salsa was the best by a long shot of any other location I've been too. Delicious! I give 2 stars because I can tell it's on or off. Health/sanitation rating is low. Coke machine needs to be serviced. Nachos, not my style. And finally, again, what's up with the mushy non-spicy jalapeños??? I don't want to know, actually. I need to preface this by saying the food has great taste. If you eat here, get the steak. It's well marinated and cooked to your preference. That being said, I'm writing a review based on the price to size ratio; it's below average. The photo attached is an order of nachos. 8 round tortilla chips with two to three tiny cubes of steak. We also got a small chips and salsa, which amounted to roughly 15 chips and no salsa (they forgot it). So for steak fajitas, 8 nachos, 15 chips/ no salsa, and 2 small margaritas. You can expect to pay over $70. So if you're good with the price, this place is for you. I wish this place had larger food portions or cheaper prices. Again, the taste is there and I can't fault them on that. The price for the amount of food, always has me second guessing myself. When I eat here again, it'll be just for steak fajitas and it'll be when I'm willing to spend. If you want good Mexican food for a very reasonable price, I highly recommend Hectors of Nokesville. They remain my go to spot for both price and quality. read more

My first visit to Sazon Latina I sat at the bar and had the opportunity to visit with the owner while I enjoyed the Lomo Saltado. He is the consummate small business owner who has a wonderful demeanor and genuinely cares about working hard to produce a great product. Now I enjoy making the journey to Gainesville from Chantilly (~20 miles and 20 minutes) whenever I can to enjoy their excellent food. Sazon Latina has a great ambience and the food is varied, excellent and very fairly priced. So is the drinks menu and there are many choices of premium margaritas to slake your thirst. You will be served by an extremely friendly wait and bar staff. If you haven't tried the Lomo Saltado, though, with tender, grilled NY strip it's possible you haven't lived.
