Really wanted to like this place because my faddah in law wanted to come here but....the food aint the best and the prices werent either. Me and hubby got the hawaiian plates ($24.95) okay but the kalua pig was hella salty. Hubby ordered beef luau on the side and squid luau. Beef luau was $17 for a bowl of soup with 3 pieces of meat (not worth it) and the squid luau was trash tasted like straight coconut milk with a few pieces of squid and not to mention how underwhelming the size of the bowl was for $11!! Tasted like haupia luau....Staff was okay to us when we got there but when we seen the receipt i called up the restaurant because we were already home and asked about the pricing cuz we thought it was different and whoever answered was straight cocky. No aloha. Auē and on top of that the 20% gratuity was what topped it all off. My mother in law gave $10 tip on top of the gratuity because she never know that she got charged the gratuity and the lady never say NOTHING. Can tell they just want your money. Nancy's was always the spot to hang out on the weekend with my co-workers, we would go every now and then and it was convenient because most of us live central or on the west side. We usually would eat dinner or have pupu's, stay and drink and hang out. I haven't been here for at least 3 years and decided to get together with the old work crew here. As far as I can remember the food was okay, nothing spectacular but it was alright for "bar food". Oh how things have changed here... Since we all met for dinner, most of us ordered our own entrée's. I ordered the hamburger steak which to me is a easy staple for many local restaurants. My friend decided on the fried pork chop which is supposed to be one of their most popular dishes. The food came and we were completely disappointed. My hamburger steak although covered in gravy, I could see the sides of the patty were not the nicely grilled brown which you are used to seeing on most hamburger patties. This one was pale, almost grey brown. I ate some of it anyway and the taste was not very good at all. I'm not sure if this patty is homemade or store bought but it was totally unappetizing. My friend was not thrilled about her pork chop either and I tasted it and had to agree with her. We did order "nacho fries" and as "nacho" I was expecting salsa, sour cream, cheese, maybe some olives and green onions. It came to the table and it was basically just cheese fries, with chopped jalepeno. Really?? I could just be a snob but just nacho cheese doesn't make anything nachos to me. The only thing that looked decent to me was the chopped steak which my friend ordered. As far as service goes, our waiter was nice and really accommodating of our needs so that is a plus. Can I say old school place? Yeah it's been years I haven't been here. I expected to see the place still looks the same. Not too sure if they will ever renovate to make the place look better but oh well can't complain. Came here 5-20-2017 for a friends birthday celebration get together chill session. As soon as I walk in we were the biggest party there. The girl who served us was calm attentive and very friendly. I believe she's been working there awhile now judging by the way she remembers what we order in a timely matter without writing anything down. Awesome memorization on orders. 1 hour in having a few shots and beers and pupus she had to close our parties tab due to here getting off of work and another server was replacing her for the late night shift. Pupus was okay. Not the best a little on the expensive side for the "frozen" food but ayyy it's a place to drink and catch up on some friends. Ordered the combo steak plate with sautéed mushrooms and shrimp. It was okay. I guess late resort food id say. Anyways moving forward the second server kinda looked flustered for a bit since she had to handle a big party. She's friendly but took awhile to get our drinks flowing. Went in for lunch with my mom on a weekday. Was seated quickly with just a few tables being taken. Haven't been here in awhile and both my mom and I were craving some Oxtail Soup! This place is garbage. Since the county has allowed bars to reopen, they have done nothing but make it difficult for patrons and customers. I have always been a firm believer in supporting local businesses, but there is a guy there (with a mullet) who I think is the manager. We've been going for almost 2 months, every other Friday with a group of about 15-20: half adults and half kids. The adults would go in first (kids were at practice) and have some drinks and pupus while the kids were at practice. We would inform them in advance that the kids (approximately 5-10 of them) would be joining us in about an hour. We were told that they don't hold tables and can't promise us anything until they arrive. That's fine- until they held a table of 10 for a group of people who came AFTER us- who only had a party of 3. The guy (mullet man) was rude and had no regard for our polite requests. Tonight was the last time we will go back. We will take our party of 15-20 elsewhere until they get their BS antics straight. COVID had nothing to do with some of these businesses going under. Just left this place and let me tell you its not worth the money. Came in for lunch wanting to eat Hawaiian food and it was a big mistake. FOOD REVIEW* --The Hawaiian plate was not worth the cost. Waitress was nice but when ordered wonton and pupu steak, it took over 20 mins to get to me and was over-fried. After hours food is a little pricey and not worth it. As soon as 10 pm came around, the restaurant atmosphere changed from local restaurant/bar to club music. Not a relaxing way to enjoy my beer. It's more of a hangout spot for young bloods. Not my idea of a fun place. I actually wanted to leave and go to Big City diner. They had live performers there with more paina music. I ate here today and did not know that there was a "COVID FEE" to dine in or take out. It's .50 per person to dine in or .25 for take out. When asked what the "COVID FEE" was for the waitress stated it was to sanitize the table and booth for us to sit. Food was really good! But for the service, I don't know why it took forever?! I have 3 boys who were super hungry! Let me start by saying i will never visit this establishment again. I guess because they are the only bar/hangout within a 10 mile radius of mililani/waipio they automatically get the crowd that doesnt wanna head to town. Came in on Tuesday night to listen to friends DJ and drink! Support your local DJ!! *_* It was crowded. Lots of workers from the surrounding businesses. And it seemed like the rest of the crowd was 21-25 years old. Yah i felt old. LOL. I told my bf, aren't they supposed to have good food here? He's like yah I think so let's order some. So the FOOD. We ordered the french fries, onion rings, and a steak combo. French fries were blah. Nothing special. Onion rings were big and crispy. The steak combo consisted of steak, calamari rings, and shrimp with onions and mushrooms. The steak was cold and cut in skinny strips with a string of fat holding them together. Great food and a nice place to get together with friends, especially those who like to sing karaoke, listen to other sing, play darts or just hang out in a local watering hole, filled with local people :) Nothing fancy, but it's clean and the workers are friendly and really try to please their customers. Gets pretty crowded after 9, but hey, the more the merrier, right? Pupus are affordable and drink prices are about the same as any drinking spot. I agree with Kama. I will never go here again. 1) the food was cold, bland, just not good. The mini corn dogs are like the ones from Costco. The garlic soy beans were mushy and had a bad taste. The nachos is just cheese and jalapenos. Lame. 2) they automatically tacked on a 20% tip and didn't even tell us. Their checks "old school" where they hand write everything. They put the tip on the "tax" line and the actual tax on a different line. I had to ask them what the charge was for. Most establishments (in my opinion) will have an automatic 18% for 6+ people, this was the first time I saw 20% - and they had the worst service. 3) We were there for about 2-3 hours and they cut us off from getting any more alcohol. What made it worse was that they never told us, they just stopped coming by our table. Our waitress did a last call on drinks and closed our tabs because her "shift was ending". She lied, she kept serving other tables. Our whole group (15 people) had on average 3 drinks each and no one was being obnoxious and no one complained. He asks them what kind of Japanese beers they have, and the waitress tells him, "Kirin and Sapporo". So he orders the Sapporo. Two minutes after our order goes out, a young waiter comes back. I've frequented this establishment many a time with family and friends, and I feel like this restaurant really is the epitome of hole-in-the-wall local style food. I've never been disappointed as far as service or flavor of food goes, but I couldn't resist writing about my last experience. I ordered a small won ton noodle soup with vegetables, and usually save the vegetables for last. As I bit into my won bok cabbage, I noticed it was tough as sandpaper. Upon closer inspection, it was a wadded up paper towel! I immediately alerted the waitress where she promptly apologized and took the item off our check. While I agree that this is a locals only type place its not worth the drive out to Gentry if you're in town or a tourist. The food is good, but there are better places for Hawaiian food in town - like Ono One Hawaiian Food. That said, I would caution that apparently the portion sizes have shrunk a bit of late so while its reasonably priced if you're a big eater you may want to order an extra entree. That said, the place is quite homey, the prices are reasonable, and the have a large menu with a wide range of items available so there's totally something for everyone here. read more

Came here for lunch because the the place we were going to in the shopping center wasn't open at all on Mondays. It was warm outside because of the vog so I didn't bring a jacket and since it was sort of cold and empty because it was a bit after lunch anyway. I even heard the lady tell this couple by names, saying for the guy to take care of his cold and that they'll see them next time. Anyway, my friend had her sights set on a shrimp omulette and I was about to get a sandwich but adobo omurice sounded soooo good since I haven't really been eating rice a lot lately. Well, it seems that the shrimp omulette is no longer served and just hasn't been taken off the menu. So she had to change her order which was probably no big deal. When we got our food, hers was covered in gravy~! She kinda slophed some of it off and it was good for her. My adobo omu-rice was absolutely great~! warm, and savory and sour... I topped it with so much pepper though, haha. Come time to order desserts, and another thing thats no longer on the menu, yet a tempting picture shown right at our table... watermelon ice cream cake. Oh well, We got some irish ice cream cake with pistachio and two other flavors instead. It was heavy drizzled with hersheys syrup so it kinda masked the ice creams flavor a bit. How does this place stay in business? Let me first start by saying...when we entered the restaurant we were already starving thinking that we would have faster service than the 45 minute wait to get in that we left at Outback. We figured bar food, yes, they should be fast. This is just a little after 9pm now. Let me tell you...it took the waitress a while just to come for our order. After taking our order of pupus and some of the menu plates she finally came back with our waters. So we waited for our food, after about another 10 to 15 minutes she comes back and tells us that they don't have the spicy ahi, so I asked for the calamari in place off only that pupu. Ok..so more minutes pass, not once did the waitress refill our water. So starvation is almost past being starvation so my friends husband goes outside to see what our other options our, this is nearly close to 10 pm. The waitress come and tells us that she's sorry but they are "waiting for the cook". I asked her what does that mean? Since the bar service just started and they were something about switching over. What?! Ok so an hour passes and all we have is soda and water. We had enough and are ready to walk out, but first my friend goes upon to pay for the drinks...with $5 my husband left. Oh geez..it was more than that and instead of comp-ing us for the wait and no food, my friend is still asked to pay the extra $1 something more for the drinks!! We walked out of there after an hour hungry and very upset and disappointed at this place. Thank goodness for Big City Diner next door for their consistency, great tasting food and awesome service. Instead of NFL Football on Sunday, they have Fox News on the TVs with full, loud, disturbing audio. I don't appreciate hearing the analysis of Obama's apology for the Obamacare website woes during a date. Would you? I ordered the fried rice omelet. It was pretty much just white rice thrown in a pan with ham, Portuguese sausage, and kamaboko. Not seasoned at all. I couldn't stand it until I added shoyu and pepper myself. And even then, it still wasn't good. The egg wasn't even fully cooked, I peeled it off and didn't eat it at all. My husband had the hungry man breakfast which tasted like it was cooked on a dirty pan, which is weird because we were the first on only customer during this time. While we ate our crappy food, our server and another woman was sitting in a booth watching their Fox News and chit chatting in their foreign language... C'mon people! Sunday morning... FOX SPORTS!!!! And it's rude to speak in another tongue in front of your customers. Near the end of this meal, where we are now disgusted by the food, environment, and service and think it can't get any worse, they start vacuuming!! Yes, vacuuming! WTF?! Hello! You have diners in your restaurant! Would you start vacuuming your home when you have visitors for a meal? Nothing about this place was good. There's a reason why there was no wait for Sunday breakfast and why no one entered the restaurant the entire time we were there... This place sucks!! My one star rating was not earned; Yelp doesn't allow me to rate any lower than that. I would never recommend this place to anyone; and I will never return. I don't frequent the area so this is and will be my last time coming. Walking in it's what you would expect from a restaurant/bar. Luckily I went during lunch time so it wasn't busy just three other tables or customers. The staff are friendly and came around to fill our water cups in the beginning but once we got our food they were attending the other customers. The restaurants food isn't anything special and I can find other restaurants that serve better food quality food for the same price. I order a cheeseburger because most of the reviews on the food is spot on. Not only did the food lack taste but it also didn't look appetizing. In addition a lot of the items on the menu are over priced. You can go to the grocery store and save money instead of spending an arm and a leg. The reason why I came here was for family. The Hawaiian plate is a effing joke!! Not hot, served boarding cold so you know it's been sitting out for a while. The people here are really open and welcoming and just there to have a good time. I came here at night with some local friends and everyone was all smiles and having a good time. We've been going to Nancy's for over 20 years, and last night we received the worst service we've ever gotten there. We went to the bar after a show, and sat at an open table right next to the bar. I sat there for 10 minutes, noticing the servers standing around the bar noticing me, we finally went up to the bar to order drinks. We had to go back up to the bar to get a menu, then again to order food, and again each time we needed to order. In the nearly 3 hours we were there, not once did we get anyone come to our table to check on us, take orders, nothing. And we're supposed to tip these people?!? The food quality is not nearly what it used to be, either. Our order of lechon was pan fried with the tomatoes and onions, which were soggy, and over 75% fat, basically inedible. I've lived in Waipio all my life and I've been to Nancy's about four times. That's not a bad thing, but I guess I'm a faux townie. Nancy's Kitchen is located in the Gentry Waipio Shopping Center. A lot of townies know where Costco is. Nancy's is not located in the same place! It's at the older shopping center, where Foodland is, closer to the Central Oahu Regional Park. My friends and I came on a Friday night this most recent time for dinner and drinks. The have a variety of local food choices, and my friend said that this place reminds him of a Denny's with local food. I ordered the fried chicken, and it was just alright. Overall my friends said the food was just alright, but hey, we were primarily there to drink. Prices aren't bad either. They had pitchers of Blue Moon on special for $15. They also had $5 shot specials. A lot of people who live on that side of the island typically come here. Nancy's (after hours) which starts at 9:00 pm to 2:00 am, is one of the best bar hangout spots on the Leeward side. There is ample amount of parking. Atmosphere is very laid back. Karaoke, music player, and darts are available. This place has its days - it can be really packed and busy or slow as hell. Lots of tables and booths available for seating, but can fill up quick especially when there are large parties. Staff and waitresses are really friendly here and are willing and able to deal with drunk people really well LOL! As far as food and drink, the Gnarly Bob Marley is a must try, just so you know what it's all about. They also have their daily specialty drinks. Food menu is pretty good too. Used to come here quite often. But slowly the taste of the food has gone down. Down to where the food taste bland, the steak was a little tougher than previous times. My daughter ordered the Hawaiian plate & side squid luau. Though visually portions were generous, taste was bland that even the chili pepper water could not disguise the taste.
