Chimere is a superstar by handling so many things at once! I would freak out as she does the phone order taking the info at the same time she is preparing the plate lunches for the customer in front of her! It is just a one-person operation! Thursdays and Fridays she gets smashed with business. Thursdays due to the roast turkey that runs out FAST! Stuffing available for $1 more... she does not provide any cranberry sauce (since my friend asked me if that was included with the stuffing). Prices do increase $1 on all the plates effective this coming Monday, October 6th while drinks all increase 50 cents to $1.50. Though I was there at 8:37am (she officially opens at 9am), i really took the last parking stall available (how thankful is that and right in front of the window). I just waited until Chimere was available to service the customers waiting for the 9 am opening. She is always showing a cheerful attitude and so very, very GREAT customer service!

The food was plentiful, hot, tasty, & had great value...$14 for a mixed plate of beef stew & baked chicken with a brownie dessert piece and a drink! The customer service is welcoming and so very pleasant Check out their menu as it changes daily. I'm gonna have to arrange it so I can get over to Waipahu before 930am...everything sells out early!

Sorry to the 1st bite already!

I want to give them 6 ! Always delicious. Massive plates feed 2! And it's Friday, so shoyu chicken + beef stew combo mix plate it is! Includes a canned juice or soda. And they have Diamond Head Strawberry & Grape . Always a winnah!

Wait where are you? Luckily, GPS had me in the right spot. You can tell this places caters to the blue collar workers because of their location and hours. First location is an industrial area in Waipahu with limited hours. If you don't have GPS, look for the yellow sign in the curve. Then after, go buy a phone with GPS. Second they are on a dead end street which is good because you may have to double park but it's not a long wait once you order your food. Menu is limited to local grindz. And once they sell out of an item, don't expect them to make more in the back. Pick the left overs. Everything's to go since there is no seating. Unless you plan to double park and they there. Don't be that guy :) Over three stars. Location is tough unless you work in the area. Food is decent. You end up getting free dessert. And service is friendly. M

Opens Monday to Friday from 9am - 1 pm or while food lasts. Suggest you arrive before it opens or as soon as it opens. You could also call your order in. Love that there are 4 options of plate lunch to choose from...Mix Plate (2 choices of entree, 2 scoops rice and 1 side); Regular Plate (1 choice of entree, 2 scoops rice and 1 side); Mini Plate (1 choice of entree, 1 scoop rice and 1 side) and Micro Mini Plate (1 choice of entree, 1 scoops rice). No matter which plate lunch size you order, the portion is huge. We ordered a regular roast turkey, micro mini sweet sour spareribs, micro mini Teri beef and micro mini mushroom chicken. The regular roast turkey included 2 scoops rice, 1 scoop stuffing and 1 side which I choose Mac salad. I wasn't able to finish and the leftovers will probably be 2 or 3 more meals. It delicious and the Mac Salad was tasty despite it being plain. The micro mini sweet sour spareribs were so delicious and was my favorite. It was sweet but not overly sweet and the spareribs were soft. Next time I'm ordering the regular plate :) The micro mini Teri beef was also delicious and was my next favorite. The beef was soft and lean. The micro mini mushroom chicken was delicious but should have asked extra gravy. There was 2 pieces of thigh. It was moist and not dry.

This is a walk-up window located in the industrial area of Waipahu. The food is delicious! Many love their roast pork, pork adobo, and shoyu chicken. My favorite is their shoyu chicken! Very flavorful and cooked to perfection. Not dry at all. Their prices are also very reasonable for the portions that you get. Each day, they have about 5-6 different specials. It is recommended to go when they open or to call in your order before 9am because they tend to get very busy and also run out of food quickly. They can run out of food as early as 11am. Their hours are from 9am-1pm Monday-Friday, but they tend to close once they run out of food. The service is phenomenal! The Auntie who owns the restaurant is super friendly and has great customer service. If you are Waipahu and looking for a good plate lunch, you should check this spot out.

Last year my friend raved about this place. He was going to bring me a plate but it was closed that day. Sadly, my friend passed away, so I made it a priority to honor his memory by eating at one of his favorite places! Scoopers makes a good plate lunch at a good price. You have a choice of a mix plate (2 choices, $13), regular ($11), mini ($9), or micro ($7). The plates come with a yummy brownie, and the mix plate also comes with a can drink. There's an extra charge for paying with a credit card, but no tax if you pay with cash. This is a good value. We are townies, so going out to Waipahu to get there early (open from 9am until they run out, usually before 1pm) was an event. Today, we tried the homemade hamburger steak, beef stew, shoyu chicken, and baked chicken. Everything was very good. I'm happy we made the drive. I can't say we'd go again (because of the distance from home), but we definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a solid local-style plate lunch.

Generous portion sizes - even the Mini and Micro sized servings are beyond adequate! The owner allowed me to sample a few options before I settled on the mildly seasoned Beef Curry, served with Rice + Mac Salad. Service was exceptional and ambiance was decidedly and unexpectedly industrial. So many regular customers coming in for their favorite specials!! As everything is already prepared, customers are in and out very quickly. INCREDIBLE VALUE AND QUALITY.

Beef Stew with Once Scoop of Rice & Macaroni & Green Salad
    S M.

I arrived at 11 am and they were already sold out on all their food except for the beef stew, so I bought the beef stew with once scoop of rice and macaroni salad and green salad, which came to $11. The server was very nice in explaining about what she got left and she gave so much that I was barely able to finish and the food was very good. This is a definitely a hidden cheap eats gem in Waipahu.

Mixed plate - Kalua pig and laulau

This place is sooo worth it! Such a good price for massive and delicious plate lunches! The mixed plate is worth it. Comes with a brownie and a drink. Such a deal for $13! They give so much food! Their laulau was sooo delicious and their kalua pig is homemade and had a great smoke flavor. Their mac salad is also homemade and tasted good. Their brownie and haupia were good to end the meal with. I couldn't finish the entire thing, so I had 2 meals from this plate lunch! Definitely give it a try because it's so worth it for the price!

Food: You want a home cooked meal feeling? This is it!!! Food was good! My daughter really like the mac salad and normally she doesn't eat that. Even better, it will also be good for one more meal! A fruitful portion indeed!! Service: A local lady helped us and she was very polite and friendly. She greeted my daughter! Not many places do that now days! She was nice and efficient! Hopefully you get there when they are not too busy or you will catch a line and parking can be weird. BUT the great thing is, for the most part, you are in and out!!!!

Teri hamburger plate (comes with four burgers, rice, mac or salad, and a fudge brownie) - $10
    Rod U.

Ready fo grind? Follow k. Hamburger steak: --Micro mini (one scoop rice, one burger) $6 - L&L mini. --Mini (one giant pile rice, one salad, two burgers) $8 - can handle. --Regular (one scoop rice, one giant pile of rice, one salad, four burgers, and a fudge brownie) $10 - kanak attack. Size doesn't matter if it can't satisfy. If you like the old school Island flavors (Ige's, the former Tsukenjo's or Masu's), this is the same. Hamburgers mixed with diced onion and bready filler, teri burgers with the sweet, sticky teri sauce mixed in, baked / boiled shoyu chicken, slow cooked beef stew with loads of melting veg. The roast pork, roast turkey, and roast beef, all properly cooked then shredded to soak up loads of house made gravy (brah, better than gravy over all). Short menu changes daily and repeats weekly. Check out pics on yelp. Favorites sell out fast (before lunch). Go early. Go to the end of the driveway between the industrial storefronts . Plenty of parking. No like do nuttin fo the rest of the day? Chance um.

Regular size Roast Turkey Plate with (2) scoops stuffing, toss salad, & brownie bite. ($10.00). DEALAGES Yo!

This plate lunch joint is LEGIT Yo!!! Thanks to my Yelp buddy - Nat N. fo' giving a Bruddah da scoops on where da good kine GRINDZ is! "Scoopers Kitchen" is a plate lunch joint you must check out should you be cruisin' in da Waipahu neighborhood, and let a Bruddah tell you why........ 1. Da GRINDZ here was supah ono! It was broke da moufth ono!!! 2. Da GRINDZ stay supah cheap! 3. Whoa! Da food portions here was super generous! 4. AWESOME "local style" cooking! 5. Supah FRIENDLY service, as I met da lady owner who was so nice & friendly. 6. If you cannot make it down to Waipahu, I was told by the friendly owner that they also have a food truck located in the Mililani Tech Park area. She told me that the food truck had the same menu, with approximately the same hours. If I heard correctly, she said something like 9:30 am to 1:00 pm? 7. If you don't believe Bruddah Fran about da GRINDZ, den' you gotta check out this Bruddah on YouTube! I dig da way this Bruddah - (Authentically Charles) chows down!!! He has no shame in his game! https://youtu.be/3SkglJtrIeQ So after getting da scoops from Nat N., I made my way down to Scoopers Kitchen in Waipahu. This little eatery maybe a wee bit hard to find, as the business is located in an industrial area, but let Bruddah Fran help out da Bruddah's, & Sista's on how to find this awesome eatery. If your in Waipahu, the street you wanna head down on is - Leokane Street. The easiest marker to find Leokane Street - is just look for the "Cutter Mazda", & "Bayview Auto Sales", as Leokane Street is the street that splits these two automobile businesses. As you drive down Leokane Street, just look for the Redondo's sign on the right, as Scoopers Kitchen is directly across the street from Redondos. I originally came here for da Shoyu Chicken, but unfortunately for me, the Shoyu Chicken is not on the menu as an everyday item. No big deal, as I had a plan "B" after looking at their menu, as they served a Roast Turkey plate on Thursday. So Bruddah Fran ended up getting a "regular" Roast Turkey plate for $10 smackaz, and for $10 smackaz he sure got a lot!!! When I say a lot, I'm talkin' about enough food to feed two people, or possibly three people if the three folks are light eaters! Lol! The Roast Turkey plate came with a heaping mound of streaded Turkey in gravy, two scoops of stuffing, toss salad, and a Brownie bite for dessert. Yum, yum!!!! Bruddah Fran enjoyed, but only managed to down half of da plate before tappin' out! I guess you know what Bruddah Fran will be eating tomorrow morning! Lol! What a GEM of a plate lunch joint! If you dig local kine grindz, may I suggest you check out Scoopers Kitchen in Waipahu!

Roast pork with gravy and missing fresh green salad - it was a huge serving! Had the salad for my lunch too! Lol

We can deal with it being kinda in the ghetto of Waipahu but it was the very unhappy (clearly annoyed) counterperson who was taking our order - who SNAPPED AT MY MOM because she was confused with what comes with their plate lunch AND then the cook (assumedly - a different person than who took our order) annoyingly brought our items out to the table. She ordered the chop steak - I thought tasted ok, but it was seasoned heavier than my mom would like. Portion was right for the price. I got their signature Loco Moco burrito - SAD. It was $20, majority rice and mac salad, no meat. I needed a knife to cut the burrito in half, there was no counterperson or anyone available to ask for a knife, so I kind of looked around their register area and found a random one on the side, cut the burrito in half, DEFINITELY NOT how they showed it on TV, if the counterperson came back, I probably would have asked for them to swap it out. We were sitting for about 25 mins - nobody came back to the counter? If it wasn't for the counterpersons unfriendly attitude I was planning to buy their signature dessert to go, but I was turned off by the whole experience AND he didn't come back out anyways until literally I was throwing our containers away. He didn't greet us. Thank us. Ask how everything was. Or say anything when we were leaving. We saw the owners on TV and are happy and glad to support a local business BUT NOT when your employees are rude and unfriendly. $45 - 1 mini plate + 1 signature item and 2 cans of soda, I would SKIP this place

Fast Forward to this past weekend, the Husband and I wanted a simple breakfast after the gym and Rocky's had popped into my head. Definitely a staple in the Waipahu community, this cozy coffee shop sits on Waipahu Depot Street right outside of the Waipahu Festival Market. The area can get ridiculously busy so if you can, park on the street instead of in the Lot. You will have a hard time getting in and out once the surrounding Businesses open. I'm assuming where you're sitting will determine the type of Service you get. We sat at the Counter, and while we were very entertained with watching them cook orders, we were a bit neglected by the Staff, while the parties at the regular tables were presented with friendlier and more patient Servers. We waited over 15mins to get our order taken and since I guess they thought we were regulars they kept rushing to take our orders while we weren't given Menu's. We pulled the Menu up on Yelp lol. Food was standard. I really loved the fried rice! but the Hash was passable, it was too mushy for my liking. You walk in and there's a quaint dining room that probably seats 25 or so. The main centerpiece of the interior, set off to stage left of the shot is the 10 foot hot, flat grill! The smells that are coming from there can't be summed up in words. Sure, I can tell you what the meats they were but it's more about the feelings they conjured up. Rows of bacon, squished under a cast iron press. Hash browns sizzling to the perfect crisp. Fluffy eggs forming their shape. All the auntys there are so nice. You can tell they've been working there for years. They know the menu by heart. Service the way it used to be done! All the people eating there have the same spots that they always assume when they come. And if you stay long enough, or come at the right time, you watch the crowds change. The early crowd features the kupunas. They read their papers. Listen to the radio. Talk about bus schedules. The later crowd has the younger generations. Adults with baby faces and babies. The generation that had grown up eating here. Prices aren't the best, but it takes a lot to keep a place like this open. So PLEASE... come and eat. Enjoy the flavors that can only be made made from a grill that's cooked meats for decades, the same way. And always remember, though the flavor is unforgettable, it's more about the moments that you're sure to have that you'll never forget at a place like this! A must visit. MUST KEEP ALIVE!

From start to finish, the experience was amazing. Everything tasted great, and the student who served us made us feel very comfortable. They checked in often to see how the food was and whether we needed drink refills. The service was truly five-star. We loved every dish, especially because the flavors were well balanced and never overpowering. The blueberry scones were not too sweet and paired perfectly with the cream cheese. The salad starter was fresh, and the phyllo was crunchy and flavorful on its own. The crab was delicious and well prepared. For the main course, I had the pork loin with apricot and prune. The sweet and savory flavors worked beautifully together, and the meat was perfectly cooked and not dry at all. For dessert, I ordered the Pots de Crème au Chocolate. It was rich and indulgent without being overly sweet -- the perfect ending to the meal. Overall, this was a five-star experience, and I will definitely be booking another reservation again.

I could choose what I want to eat and I could go back for seconds if I want lol. Our waiter was great, he changed our silverware and topped off our drinks without us asking. The ambiance is great - it's clean and stylish. The standout dishes for me were the bbq pork with cornbread, the lilikoi tart and the Japanese potato salad. Hope to come again next semester.
