I got the crispy sticky rice chicken, while the S.O got the chicken egg noodle soup. The sticky rice was different but overall good. The chicken was tender and flavorful. Com Ga Nam An is a Vietnamese restaurant that speicalizes in Hainan chicken. They also offer other various rice and chicken dishes, noodle soups, salads, and various sides/a la cartes. The hubs and I stopped by while in the area, and we ordered the #1, the Com Ga Nam An. This came with your choice of white or dark meat (we opted for the white), whether you want chicken skin or not (we chose to have it), a mound of rice, and a couple of dipping sauces. The chicken seems to be steamed and then completely deboned; it's not served warm, but it's actually cold. I know many people talked about their delicious sauces, but I felt as if it would have been better with a simple sprinkle of salt and pepper. I wasn't a fan of any of the sauces, as the dark hoisin-type of sauce was a sour/sweet flavor, and the fish sauce/vinegar mixture was just not good. There was also a couple of chicken hair on the skin, so that was a little off-putting. The rice was actually tasty, as it was cooked perfectly and seemed to be lightly seasoned with rice vinegar. Service is very quiet and slightly on the slow end. The restaurant itself is bright and clead and very modern-looking. Honestly best hainan chicken place in California. The ginger sauce I swear is passed down from grandma, it is so delicious. Hainan chicken can get expensive because of the type of chicken you use. The chicken you need for hainan chicken is organic as well as high quality. You can taste it in the meat. It's not like the chicken you can get from Albertsons which is just fat and full of hormones. The increase of the price of chicken in general is why this restaurant had to raise their prices. But the quality is hands down the best way better than Savoy chicken in LA that uses American chicken. You can taste the difference if you're a true hainan chicken fanatic. read more

My sister and I had a craving for Hainan chicken rice one day and we were referred to this spot from a friend. It's located in the big Brookhurst plaza across from the dessert shop called Creamery Pop. We both ordered the #1, Hainan chicken with broken rice (dark meat & skin approx $13ea). The dish was super tasty and the chicken was so juicy! I really liked the sauces they offered with the chicken, so bomb! I would recommend if you're in the mood for chicken and rice, its great! Staff are very nice and wear masks at all times. The entrees are served on disposable trays and sauces are in small to-go containers for easy clean up. Excited to eat there again recommending this place, my husband orders the usual... rice & chicken and dry noodle for me. Our friend ordered hot tea, never got to her. Food was being cleaned up a table near us and splashed my husband's jacket. He let's the owner who was nearby know to remind their staff to be careful and she shrugged it off to say that she'll tell him. An apology would have been much better in my opinion. As business grows, it seems like majority of the owners tend to neglect customer service details. Sad to see that here as well as in other restaurants in Little Saigon/Westminster. This spot is awesome! Located in a plaza with plenty of parking. We ordered the chicken and chicken rice (#1), and we were so impressed! We discovered this during the pandemic so we haven't eaten in there yet. Only to go- Comes with oh soooo yummy chicken soup broth, cucumbers/tomatoes, onions, and the chicken is deboned which makes it very convenient for my toddler. We also tried the sticky rice one, but prefers the regular chicken rice. Typically there is only one person working in the front, but it's not bad service. Visited this place again after about ~5 years. The quality had really gone down significantly. I ordered their house chicken plate (first thing in the menu). The chicken in my meal was not only cold and lukewarm in some pieces but it also had the fat jelly still on them. As soon as you see the fat jelly, you just lost your appetite. They're rice was hot but dried as if reheated from yesterday. The best part of the meal was only the soup. When we received the food, we were so shocked seeing how little the chickens were. They charged us additional .75c for the chicken thigh, but there were like 5-6 pieces of chicken with the size of your pinky finger. I've been craving Hainanese chicken for weeks. Weeks, I tell you. There's something about that ginger-spicy dipping sauce that has been gnawing at me. So finally after denying myself, I dragged my parents here to have what else, their number one special. Of course everything on their menu is chicken. My mom ordered pho with chicken. This pho wasn't your typical chicken pho, it had stuff like livers, and well other chicken parts that you may not enjoy but it's a cafe in Westminster, you're going to get the weird stuff too. My dad and I both ordered the number one Hainan chicken with rice. My mom noted that the chicken is brought out cold, but deboned. How nice of them to debone it for us! The skin is left on but the fat has melted away in the cooking process. If you don't like chicken skin then this place is probably not for you. The whole point of this dish is for you to eat the chicken with the skin, and I suppose you could eat just the meat. But what would be the point? It's really up to you. My mom was surprised that my dad and I cleared our plates. It was that good. The sauce is set out for you as well and it's up to you to put the ginger in the sauce or set up a dipping station for yourself. I prefer to add the ginger to the spicy sauce. I didn't go with the soy sauce but they give that to you also. The rice is piping hot infused with chicken broth and fat. It's so freaking delicious. Wanted to check out this place since I see it every time my friends and I stop by at Tebo next door. Was going to go to Tebo this evening but after my less-than-stellar experience the last time, opted at the last minute to check this chicken place out since they were open (all the other times we've gone to this plaza, Tebo was the only place opened). Walking up to the restaurant you notice how clean it is from the outside - and how empty it was on the inside. I brushed it off to the fact that we were eating at what is likely early dinner time for a Sunday night (the restaurant was a bit more full when we left) and headed in anyway. We were seated right away. As you can imagine, from a place that specializes in Hainan style chicken, all their food options were chicken-oriented. There was everything from Chicken with rice, fried rice, sticky rice to chicken pho, chicken noodles, chicken salad. I ordered the #1 Hainan Chicken Rice and my friend ordered the #4 Chicken with Xoi (sticky rice). I like that they give you the option of white, dark or mixed meat along with whether you want the skin on or off. While we were waiting for the food, the server brought out four dipping sauces - a thicker soy-based sauce with a hint of sweetness, minced ginger, a lighter soy sauce and a sweet/sour/spicy dipping sauce. We were also served a bowl of chicken broth. When my plate arrived - the first thing I noticed was the presentation. It's very simple, clean and to the point. Salad, chicken and rice. The rice was perfectly steamed, fluffy and had a hint of chicken broth in it (I prefer this to just plain steamed white rice). One thing I noticed tho was the portion size - I had probably four or five slices of chicken meat. The meat however, was perfectly cooked and tender, and I enjoyed dipping it in each of the sauces to see which I liked the most. My friend seemed to enjoy his entree as well - sticky rice with grilled chicken. Other than the small chicken portions, the place is pretty decent. I liked how clean and bright it was - the ambiance is noticeably better than other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. The tables are well spaced between each other so you have a bit of space. Parking can be a hit or miss - we went on a Sunday evening so it helped that half the other businesses were closed. Not the best Hainanese Chicken place I've been to. I ordered #1. It is the Hainan Chicken (I ordered dark meat with skin) and Hainanese rice. It comes with a bowl of broth, veggies, and sauces. The portion of chicken, that is mainly boneless, is very small. It is less than most Hainan Chicken dishes I've ordered. The chicken is okay. The rice is not as flavorful or fragrant as other Hainan Rice I've had, and the dipping sauce isn't as flavorful, either. The broth was decent. My husband ordered the #3 which is Grilled Chicken with the usual Hainan chicken accompaniments. He also complained that the portion was small, and it was pretty pricey in terms of Vietnamese chicken dishes. Overall, the restaurant has a clean, bright atmosphere, and the food seems relatively clean and healthier. (It isn't very oily, or sweet like some food at some restaurants.) It also isn't overly crowded, and the A/C was working which was a plus considering it was a hot day. The service is mediocre. It's a great place for lunch, but I'm not sure if I would be happy having this for dinner. The portions are just right for lunch but a little on the small side if I were really hungry. I had their signature chicken and rice, the chicken was nice and moist. The rice had just the right amount of flavor, maybe could have had ginger. I ordered a Bun Rieu today. Worst bun rieu I've ever eaten in my life. There is no "rieu" (crab paste), no meat or bloodcake. They gave me a bowl of vermicelli soup with 2 tofu pieces, 3 pieces of thin sliced fish cake and like a spoon of crab meat. I thought they brought the wrong order LOL. Charge $16 not including tax. I'm not a picky eater. I really don't mind if the food is not good. But this is lying to your customers lol. I'm still laughing writing this review. Maybe if they only specialized chicken dishes then they shouldn't put other dishes on the menu.
