Kalpana's work: polished, beautiful, and interview-ready.
    Évelyne R.

After a mid-to-bad experience at Cardamone Salon and Day Spa, my hunt for a new nail salon continued. PAINT caught my eye. I wasn't thrilled it's part of a national chain, but everything else I read gave me hope--it reminded me of my favorite place in Austin (LACQUER Luxury Nail Salon, a Certified Safe Salon that actually prioritizes nail health, safety, and ethics). PAINT's website made it seem like it might be in that same lane. First Visit I booked a Gel Mani & Pedi at $104 for 2 hrs 15 min to prepare for a second job interview I had coming up. Parking was an inconvenience--limited street parking on Liberty or one-way side streets. There was a back lot that I think you're allowed to park in but I couldn't find a space. Least favorite part of the whole visit. The salon itself is a little "IG basic," but clean, cute, comfy and mostly relaxing until someone burst on the scene and started exaggeratedly yelling and laughing with the receptionist. And I don't mean like, they shared a beautiful moment of joy that made me appreciate the place even more... I mean a solid 5 or 10 minutes of f#@k everyone else in the salon, it's all about us behavior. Still, Kalpana was the reason I enjoyed my first visit. She was kind, interesting, and welcoming, and she gave me a wonderful mani-pedi. My nails looked perfectly polished for my interview, and the price was in line with what I expected (actually a little less than what I paid in Austin). It feels so good to be home. But their claim about prioritizing nail health doesn't holdup. Kalpana used a coarse file to sand my natural nails before applying the gel polish. So I guess I'm at least partially to blame for what happened next ... Second Visit I had originally called to schedule a lacquer change for a fancy dinner I was to attend. If there was an option to do so online, I couldn't find it. The receptionist told me on the phone they scheduled it as a nail repair, but that we'd swap out the gel lacquer, just no nail shaping. My plans changed before my appointment and I asked at check in for a simple gel removal or, I suggested, upgrading to an Uptown Girl mani with gel removal, no new polish. Because I had already booked just that 3 weeks out to remove the new gel that I was no longer going to receive. They said no time, so I stuck with removal and asked her to cancel my upcoming Uptown Girl mani. The receptionist and I were clearly not on the same page though--they referred to it as a "nail repair" appointment, asking me which nail but I figured the stylist would understand, so I rolled with it. Ashley, my stylist this time, was... rough. It felt like they over-filed the top layer of gel, then failed to soak my nails long enough before beginning to poorly remove the lacquer with a coarse file on my natural nails. When they stopped mutilating my nails, they asked if I wanted them shaped. Sure. They filed the edges a bit, then declared we were done--residual dust all over my fingertips and patches of gel still visible. When I asked them to clean them up, I got a quick wipe down and the least amount of cuticle oil as humanly possible, applied to my nail beds. My nails feel as rough as a cat's tongue. The receptionist didn't ask how my service was, and by then I was out of f#@ks to give anyway. I checked out and left. When I got home, I went online to cancel the Uptown Girl pedi I originally meant to keep and discovered the receptionist had canceled it already instead of the Uptown Girl mani which was still on the books. And apparently you can't cancel online? So now I'll have to call. Had I known that, I would have done it in person. Final Thoughts If you're a basic bitch who's cool being gaslit about nail health (or anything else for that matter), then this place is for you. Otherwise? I'd steer clear. Kalpana gave me one great visit, but the overall vibe and inconsistency, not to mention the condition of my poor nails, means my search continues.

I had the best experience I have had in a nail salon in a while! I'm a mom who doesn't get out alone often, but I did today! Total relaxation! Such a friendly atmosphere! Drinks offered! Coffee, Tea, Mimosas! (The mimosas are so good!) The girl who did my manicure and pedicure was AMAZING! Truly! Her name was Kennesha, she was fabulous in all aspects. Her energy, her talent, everything. No matter who you are, you will be truly welcome and comfortable here! Not to mention they have the cutest stuff to shop from while you wait/ before you leave!

I love Paint! All of the staff is very friendly and the salon is so clean. They use clean-ingredient polishes so it doesn't smell like fumes or chemicals. I really like the Dazzle Dry polish that they use because it dries super fast and holds up like gel, but it's regular polish. I've had an amazing pedicure here! I've also taken my nieces and they do such a great job with wiggly girls that can't hold still haha. Their retail section is awesome and has lots of items from soaps and lotions to jewelry and clothing. PS there's a free parking lot behind the building!

Paint nail bar has been a great experience! I've had 3 different nail techs and each of my gel manicures have lasted 3+ weeks. The inside is light, bright, and clean. I appreciate that it doesn't smell like a traditional salon For anyone wondering, here's the general flow of manicures appointments. The checkin desk usually offers a drink, tells you to wash your hands, then guides you to the nail polish selections. There's a couch and plenty of merchandise you can stop around if you have to wait. Once your apt is over, you check out at the desk and can leave a tip there (cash or card!). If you're driving, there's a large parking lot out back that's free!

Really clean nail salon! I got a pedicure today and everything about it was perfect! I got a watermelon mimosa and it had glitter in it! How fancy. Sorry weirdos, no feet pics from me! Scheduled again for next month! Can't wait.

    Gel w/ simple nail art

Got a regular gel mani here a little while back when my usual place didn't have availability and I've been going here since! The results have been very consistent and the quality is great. Everyone is very kind and they provide you some nice little extras when you're there. Free repairs for 10 days was really helpful too, they fit me in when I had chipping on a couple nails. Cameron was the one who did the nail art and she did a fantastic job. It's a little expensive, but to me it's worth the price because you know it'll be good every time!

Loved Paint Nail Bar! I took my sister and 5 year old daughter last weekend. We booked our appointments about a month ahead of time. Both my sister and I received pedicures while my daughter had the mini Paint manicure. I love that they accommodate the littles. While we waited I enjoyed an apple cider mimosa. Delicious! I also love how its a little boutique in there with items to purchase. We did end up with a bracelet and bath bomb. I already made our appointments for December. I cannot wait to go back! Everyone was so professional and its so relaxing in there! Also note there is a free parking lot behind the building.

My sister booked us pedicure appointments at Paint Nail Bar. The space was super cute and clean. We loved browsing the items for sale. The pedicure chairs were some of the most comfortable that I ever sat in. It was also great that we could enjoy a drink while we relaxed getting our pedicures. My technician was awesome. Super sweet and my toenails look great! We already booked our next appointments.

    Complimentary mimosa
    Samantha R.

This salon is so pretty and bright and going to a fume-free nail salon is such a nice change of pace. From the minute you walk in you're not choking on the air and you don't leave with a headache. The complimentary beverage (mimosa, coffee, tea or water) is such a nice touch and adds to the luxurious feel of the place. I was also super impressed by the cleanliness and loved that they ask everyone to wash their hands before picking out a nail color. The woman who did my pedicure was awesome and really sweet. My nails look amazing and I will definitely be back. This was such a great experience!!

    Emily V.

Overall I was very disappointed, especially since they market themselves as a luxury service. Quite expensive for the service that I received. It was $47 for a gel manicure and my service barely took half an hour start to finish. The waiting area for the salon is very cute and the salon facilities are quite clean but showing lots of signs of wear and tear. My technician seemed to be in a rush and spent very little time on shaping my nails and cuticle care even after I mentioned my concerns. There was a lot of polish left on the skin around my nails, which I only noticed after leaving. I've gotten much better results for less, or even doing my nails myself. Unfortunately complimentary mimosas don't make for a luxury experience on their own.

Still one of my favorite places to get a pedi! They truly take their time with every service and you can add extras like a 10-minute massage or paraffin wax!! They offer online scheduling for convenience and allow you the option to set up a passport which works like a subscription for services. They also have little items at the front desk like lotions, oils, and accessories. The best part....they offer Mimosas to sip during your service!

    Alicia B.

Upon my arrival I was greeted by the front desk staff, invited to sanitize my hand and phone. I was offered a drink to which I opted to have a cup of tea. I went during the week and it was pretty busy. The space itself was clean, the decor was lovely and they also had different items on sale as well, I saw jewelry, clothing , slippers even cups. I had a gel manicure and pedicure done and was thoroughly satisfied. I will definitely be back, my go to spot for getting pampered.

My "gel" manicure 27 hours after getting it. Junk. It's literally peeling off.
    Lauren C.

It's been about 27 hours since my "gel" manicure yesterday. It's literally peeling off. And on the nails where the peeling hasn't happened yet, it's got chips around the edge (might be hard to see in the photo bc of lighting, but there's chipping all along my right thumbnail). I'm guessing the rest will begin peeling soon. $40 for junk. Don't go here. They don't know what they're doing and are charging a premium for crap. I called and told them, wanting to confirm the right method of removing this junky polish. They say they "guarantee" the manicure for a certain amount of time. I cut the woman off before she told me how long it's "guaranteed" (longer than 27 hours, I hope) because: 1) I have no time for them to fix their crappy work, 2) even if I had the time, there's no way I'd go to them -- they couldn't do it right there first time. ********EDIT: Since Yelp won't let me respond to the owner's message below -- No, you can't make it right. I got them done for an event and there's literally no time to fix them. But, as I said, even if I had the time, I wouldn't go to your place. Also, a 10 day guarantee for gel says it all. A good gel manicure will last for weeks.******** More detail, the manicure itself was... Underwhelming. No lotion after, no hand massage, and the nail tech apologized about how dull her tools were, which made my cuticles ragged. I brushed the cuticle issue off at the time, but was annoyed about paying $40 for this place when they hold themselves out as more of a high end spot. Now with everything peeling off, I'll be warning everyone I know to stay away. Hilarious update: to get the polish off, all it took was putting my fingers in a little lukewarm water for about two minutes per hand. Not even acetone/remover. Everything slipped right off.

At the beginning of my appointment, I showed Nivy a picture of multicolor nails with a French tip -- very basic. Instead of multicolor, I asked for green and blue and specified that I wanted one finger green, then one finger blue. That was not what I got. Let me walk you through the appointment. After Nivy put down a coat of green on all my nails (which I was happy with), she said, "You want me to do something, or you want what's in the picture?" I said, "As long as they look good, you can do what you'd like with the blue." I didn't like what she did with the blue, so she removed it and started over to do what I had originally asked for. At this point, I asked her again -- one nail green, then the next blue -- which she did as a base, and it looked great. Then she used the opposite color for my French tips, mixing blue and green on the same nail. At this point, I just sat there in silence, trying to process the confusion I was feeling. At no point during my appointment did I ever ask for blue and green to be on the same nail. Not once. To make things worse, my cuticles bled because she cut them too short. Throughout the appointment, Nivy made multiple unprofessional comments, including crude remarks about a president (whom I also dislike, but it was just vulgar and unnecessary). There were also several open bottles of alcohol around the salon. While there was a beverage cart with hard liquor -- which I didn't mind -- there were also opened bottles on the floor in a bag, an open container behind the sink, and used shot glasses sitting out on a shelf in plain sight. At that point, I just asked to pay and leave. I'm writing this review sitting on my couch crying.
