Let me just start by saying at the time of this review, Maniküre only has a 4.1 star rating on Yelp. I feel that's wrong-- they are DEFINITELY a solid five-star business. I had come in from out of town and desperately needed my nails done; I previously tried to do them myself and they came out terrible. Luckily I was able to get an appointment with Jill and I'm so glad I did. The customer service was top notch-- Jill was so friendly, patient, and sweet. She was very detailed and made sure my cuticles looked amazing (arguably the most important part of a manicure in my opinion). IMO, Jill's exactly the kind of person you want when you go for a manicure; my entire service I felt nothing but relaxed. At the end I was happy I had chosen to come here. Lastly, the salon is super cute, it's a huge space and looks very clean. The aesthetic is unmatched. However one suggestion I would have is that it would be nice to have a lotion with a pump at the checkout counter, that way people can moisturize their hands before they go out into the cold. This was my first time under new management and in the new location . I enjoyed the experience of being in so much more space. The staff was very friendly and I felt well treated. The experience level of nail technicians set the price in their seemly high range. This review is for the natural manicure and for me, the price of the service was inflated for the quality of service. I cannot recall if I've ever gotten a manicure that did not include a hand massage to work in hand lotion before. Cuticle oil was used. It seemed bare bones instead of standard. I really wanted to like this place... but I won't be back. Let me preface that I have been here twice. My nails always turn out looking good in the end but for what cost? There is no "luxury" or "natural" spa like experience. Techs are very quiet and environment feels tense. They do not give lotion or provide any hand massage. Techs are very rough with cuticles and e-filing.No cuticle softener is used. They push back your cuticles with a dry piece of metal equipment which hurts! I've never had anywhere do that and I get my nails done a lot since I move around for work.... also they cut back the cuticles to literally nothing which is SO unhealthy for nails and causes bacteria growth. The Salon could learn more about "healthy" nails since they advertise as being "natural"on Instagram. They e-file down your natural nail to nothing and then paint on structured gel to replicate what your nail should look like instead of actually fostering the natural nail they destroy it! read more

I have been going to Maniküre for a little over a year and I could not be happier with the service I receive!! Olivia is who I usually see but have been with others a few times. The atmosphere is so welcoming and fun. I always look forward to my appointments because they really are a relaxing experience. Look, I truly do not make a habit out of leaving reviews. Especially bad ones. I think all business and people have their days and it isn't my place to call that out the second something goes wrong. However, because this business does charge more than the average manicure, as well as being known for nail art, I think I have some info that would be useful for others. The first time I went to Manikure I was placed with an individual who was extremely sweet, albeit new. I only every get gel manicures, usually with minimal nail art. I'd say I am generally low maintenance when it comes to my nails. I told the person doing my nails that they could do whatever color/design they would like I was super open to any idea I just don't gravitate towards bright colors. I had gel on my nails so I did get a gel removal and then gel manicure with structure gel. I was in the salon from 6:00-7:45. This feels like a long time to get a structure gel, solid color, manicure. I wouldn't mind so much, as the quality of the manicure was not worth nearly 2 hours in the salon. You can see this in the first photo I've attached. There was a lot of polish left on my skin as well as significant pooling of the structured gel on the sides of my nails/cuticles. I received a text asking to rate the business, which I did, and was given a 25$ discount of my next visit. So I kept my next scheduled appointment and ensured it was with a different, more experienced nail artist. This most recent visit, unfortunately, was also very disappointing with similar results, as can be seen in the dark green manicure. When I left the salon I noticed the corner of my thumb nail had been glued down to my finger/cuticle skin by the structure gel and I had a difficult time trying to peel my nail up. TLDR: Pros: Everyone I've encountered here is very kind and sweet. I had no negative interactions with the individuals working here. Cons: Inexperienced (?) Techs. While their instagram boasts beautiful manicures, I'm wondering if there are only 2/3 individuals who actually produce that level of quality. The staff isn't understanding AT ALL, which is a shame because the nail technicians are really talented. The nail art done here is done very well and delicately, while other salons' nail art is often applied in globs that struggle to cure correctly under the UV light for gel polish. It's ridiculous that I got charged 100% of the service I scheduled, even though I didn't come in BECAUSE I WAS SICK. Service charges are annoying to begin with. 50% service charges are especially irritating, but understandable. 100% service charges are ridiculous. I had scheduled a gel mani, but a few hours before, I got a migraine and had to lay down away from light and my phone. Apparently it didn't matter that I was a repeat customer that had already come in a few times before and tipped generously, I didn't show up because I was sick and they charged me the full price. I explained that I was sick, and there was absolutely no empathy or understanding for the situation, even though I only had the problem once. It wasn't like I was a repeat offender of not showing up. Bottom line, the reception is frustrating and not understanding. The nail technicians are talented though. I got a pedicure here yesterday, and I will start by saying that my feet look great!! The tech was thorough in removing dead skin and trimming my nails as short as possible. She was super nice too! The place felt clean and had a cute vibe. The color selection was very small, but I was able to find the color I had in mind so it wasn't much of an issue. My only real complaints are that my pedicure started 15 minutes late with no explanation or apology. Also, when I cashed out, I was charged a $5 "service fee due to COVID," which was not mentioned on the site anywhere. $50 is a little steep for a pedicure in Pittsburgh, in my opinion. Being new to Pittsburgh I was looking for a good nail salon since I have a wedding coming up. I found this gem on Instagram, being drawn in by the fabulous posts with creative nail art. I came to find out it is right down the street from where I work! I was able to easily find availability and book with one of the nail technicians online. I booked a gel manicure with Paidge and she was nice and welcoming when I arrived! I had requested a similar style she had previously posted a picture of and was quick to get to work. She did a fantastic job of cleaning up my cuticles and had a fine attention to detail when completing the nail art. I absolutely loved the way they looked after -- super clean -- and they stayed that way for 2+ weeks! When I soaked the gel off at home I also felt like my nails were not as damaged as they had been previously having gel at other places. I'm typically one to just paint my nails myself at home without the risk of being disappointed by a manicure that just doesn't hold up or subpar nail art and only get them done out once or twice a year. I was drawn in by the instagram photos and decided to get a manicure as a birthday treat. Except, when I called to book, the first available appt was nearly 3 weeks after my birthday. I booked anyway and decided to give them a chance - they must be THAT good with such a long wait. At my appt, my nail tech was friendly but I could tell pretty quickly she was new/a little nervous and after I explained what I wanted she admitted it would be her first time doing the style...she proceeded to ask a few other techs about how to approach it, practiced and worked slowly. While my nails ended up looking nice, I spent two hours there for a gel manicure with simple art. Way too long to be sitting in that chair. I completely understand being patient with new staff but at that price point I was expecting a higher quality of service and professionalism. I wouldn't have been so upset if I had known going in I'd be with someone new, but this was my big birthday treat and the bar was set high after a long wait to get in. There should be an introductory rate (and forewarning) booking with new staff for this reason. Perhaps adopting the Level 1,2,3... model that hair salons have for stylists would be helpful here to add transparency about tech experience and appropriate price setting. I also was disappointed that there was no spa quality to the service whatsoever. Ex: my cuticles were cut dry and there was no hand massage or lotion/oil treatment. It's very clear the business model centers around the aesthetic of the finished product, not the experience. OK for some people, just not my preference. The staff was super friendly and the precautions that they were all taking in regards to covid made me feel very comfortable--washing hands frequently, gloves, masks, sanitizing stations. Most of the time people go out of their way to complain and take little time to give praise. I ty to do the opposite, especially in this world today. I moved to PIT in April and was looking for a nail spa as good or better than my home salon in Chicago (a difficult task indeed). I tried many until I finally found Maniküre through a friend. Yes, there is a wait to get an appt but it is worth that wait!! Everyone here is not only professional, but some of the most talented true artists in the beauty industry today! And I just got a Jelly Pedi, and OMG, that was amazing! My feet never felt so good. I have been twice now to Shannon and she is an awesome artist and just a super fun person. Then again, I have not met anyone there who does not truly enjoy what they do, and more importantly, they not only enjoy the customers, but the customers truly do come first! At the store the other day, after some fabulous new art from Shannon, the sales person invited all the other ladies over to "check out her nails, they are fierce!" I am known for my nails, even working in IT, and yes, they are long, and the perfect coffin shape, but I have never had such attention while making my purchase. Thank you Shannon!! I have a bit of a mixed review for this location ! I was looking to try a new nail spot that was close to my house and reasonably priced so I snagged a last minute appointment here on a saturday! I had a newer nail tech but overall the atmosphere was super friendly and my nail tech was very personable and I thought this is my new nail home! I had a polygel fill with minimal nail art and it was around $30, a steal! Before my next appointment, I had 2-3 of my nails lift because the polygel was not filed thin enough near the cuticle but I thought maybe it was because my nail tech was new to the game. My next fill was with someone a bit more veteran and unfortunately, I had the same thing occur between fills but the nail design was great and I really wanted to give it another shot! My third fill was with my original nail tech, when she was starting my fill I noticed that I had yellowing on a few of my nails underneath the polygel from water getting underneath there. My polygel was not filed down properly, it was left thick and bumpy and also too thick near the cuticle which again resulted in nails lifting. I had 4 nails completely pop off within a week and a half!! i sent a message to them on IG which is a way that I have communicated with them in the past letting them know what happened and asking if this was usual for their clients, letting them know I was disappointed. Thanks to the IG messenger, I saw they read my message and decided not to respond. I think they have great potential but they need to maybe tighten up training. It would take them 2 hours or more to do my polygel fill and to have nails popping off after that doesn't seem right to me! read more

Love, love, love! I went to Manikure for the first time last weekend. I had been dying to try it as I follow them on Instagram and see all the amazing designs and colors they do. I take my nails very seriously and had not been able to find a salon I fully trusted since moving here a couple years ago. Unfortunately, I am so used to just walking in somewhere when I am in the mood for a manicure that I was never able to get into Manikure because I didn't think advance enough to make an appointment. That will be changing now because I had a really wonderful time and a great manicure. I had Victoria as my tech and she did an amazing job. She paid close attention to everything she was doing. I just got a gel mani but the amount of concentration she put into polishing my nails was the same as if she was creating some intricate design. It's now a week later and my nails still look great. I will definitely be back. I would caution people that they are super popular (which is awesome) so it can sometimes be hard to book an appointment (and you must have an appointment) but they do a really great job of posting last minute cancellations on Instagram which might get you in for a time that wasn't originally available. read more

You need Tamie in your life!! I knew Tamie because she did my wedding makeup (which was fantastic!) when I found out she worked at Manikure I was just looking for a reason for her to make me pretty again! I had been curious about eyelash extensions, but also nervous. I have pretty long eyelashes so I did not want to damage them, however I longed to not have to wear mascara all summer. I saw Manikures eyelash extensions were only $89, which is almost half of most salons, and decided to book an appointment. At my first appointment I asked Tamie 2937 questions but she made me feel so at ease. After an hour and a half of girl time, I got to see the final product. WOW! They looked amazing! I was not sure at first if I would continue to get fills, but I was obsessed. A fill is typically $50 but sometimes I wait over 3 weeks so it's $65. I have not had any issues with them at all. They are great! I also got a dermaplane with Tamie when she was running her $50 special. It made my skin a lot less dry and made my foundation go on flawlesssy. After many, many salons that were sloppy with painting it didn't clean up my nail beds well or both, Manikure lives up to their name by delivering both. My cuticles are clean, though the "dry" manicure was a first for me (no soaking), once it was explained to me, it made sense and looks great. Jax was friendly, knowledgeable and talented. If you complain, you get banned.... I've been going to Maniküre since it opened, and was initially quite impressed. Beautiful salon, the work they did was great and they were for the most part on time. I didn't mind paying the high prices. Over the past few months my polygel nails - began to lift, chip and all together completely come off. I would call and request a fix, which they accommodated. However, after several corrections, it was suggested that I try a different type of manicure - GelX. I'd do anything to keep my manicure in good condition, so I decided to give it a try. It took over 2hrs to do my nails and $82 later. I went home and within 4hrs, one of them began to lift so I called and asked to have it replaced. But, instead of accommodating as any good business should, I was told that my business was no longer welcome at their salon and I wasn't welcome to get my nails done there anymore. REALLY? Never in my professional or personal life have I ever been treated like this. I moved here from a city of 8.5 million people and behavior like this is unheard of... KATE - as a business owner have a backbone and call your customers yourself when you want to turn away business, and don't have your receptionist do it. Pathetic. You made me feel guilty and embarrassed because I had an issue and wasn't satisfied with my nails coming off, and no one deserves to feel that way, especially a loyal paying customer. You should be ashamed of yourself and your business. I will not apologize for my nail lifting, nor be made to feel repeatedly bad & guilty that it's my fault my nails lift due to the mediocre and rushed work of your staff, it's laughable and disgraceful, especially for the prices that you charge. I feel discriminated against because the nails weren't done properly and all I request was repair. STAND behind your product - plain & simple. Clearly you don't. My advice to anyone looking to go to this salon - yes it's cute, and they do cute designs, but customer service is a joke, who bans someone who has been a loyal customer for over a year because their nails break? I had truly the most bizarre and negative (in person) experience with the owner of this salon. When I called in to make my first appointment there, I was told the wait was 6 weeks as they are quite busy. I was advised on that call that when I came in for my service, I should book my follow up (fill) appointment that day. All good. Go to my appointment, and about 3/4 of the way, I mention to my tech how I need to make a follow up. Immediately I can tell something is wrong. She quietly tells me they are booked solid for 6 weeks. Just to clarify, I was getting a full set of poly hard gels put on. I try to question a little more, but she wont say anything. Directs me to the woman at the counter who is the owner. I just want to be clear that I entered into this conversation not at all upset, because I was certain that we'd be able to figure something out. My experience is generally that most people are reasonable, and solutions are rarely found by being rude. I explain what I was told in my initial call, and that it's my first time here, and that I'm happy to book whatever follow ups are necessary today. Her response: "I'm booked for 6 weeks. You should have called 3 weeks after booking your first appointment to book another one." (???) What? How would I know that. I reiterate that I was told I could book my follow up today, and it sounds like business it doing really well so that will probably be hard, but I'd really appreciate it. "I'm booked for 6 weeks." Totally flat, non apologetic tone, rolling her eyes. It was so uncomfortable! She also informs me I can't make more than one appointment today, I should "make a calendar reminder to call me in three weeks if you want a follow up to your appointment in 6 weeks from now." What kind of system is that?? They clearly way overbooked, but were happy to take my money for the first appointment. You should have stopped taking new business if you can't maintain your client base. It's pretty clear from this interaction that I'm not the first person she's had this conversation with. As a last plea for some common sense, I mention that, you know, my nails will probably start to look pretty grown out in a few weeks and being that this is hard gel, I can't exactly take them off myself. Her response, "I'll put you on the cancellation list, or you can come back in 4 weeks and I'll take them off. " Wow. Honestly, if at any point she had just said to me "Hey, I'm really sorry, we're just overbooked right now but I'm going to do my best to get you in" I wouldn't even have bothered writing this. The whole tone from her was that I had done something wrong. Clearly business is just SO good that dealing with new clients is just not worth her time. I actually DID wait to see if they would call. The whole situation was just so bizarre I wondered if maybe in hindsight the owner might think, "You know, I was having a super bad day and was pretty rude to that woman." LOL. I came here on a recommendation from a friend whose nails are always on point. I made sure to ask who she sees because that always helps to know too! I've been to a couple spots around town and Manikure is officially one of my favorites in Pittsburgh! I scheduled an appointment 2 weeks in advance with with the recommended tech Victoria - I def recommend booking in advance esp if you aren't flexible with your time and if you want to see someone specific. I've called a couple times in the past for same day appointments and usually they are booked. Once I arrived for my appointment Victoria took me back and got started on me right away. One thing I really appreciate in really anything is learning about the process and Victoria took the time to explain some things to be about my nails - ie nails are SUPPOSED to have some bend to them and that cuticles are sticky - random but cool facts. The shape of my nails and my nail beds look amazing and a week later and not a chip to be seen in my gel nails. I am notorious for messing up dip/gel/tips+gel within a week so to go a week with perfect nails is huge for me. Also the person sitting next to my station had some really pretty details done to her nails by another nail tech so if you don't get Victoria there are other talented nail artists there for sure! I have been going to Manikure since October. The girls work really hard and do amazing work. I recently had a manicure that started lifting almost immediately. I went in to get them fixed, but after looking closely at my nails, the owner insisted on redoing the whole thing without letting me pay for it.
