This is my first time there and the pedicure was a little different in that she removed my calluses before and after soaking my feet. I've been coming to AEY for over a year now. Heather was my original go-to (she's not longer here), and now I faithfully go to Yana. Both excellent at their work and pleasant in every way! I started coming to AEY just after I got married with short brittle nails. They helped me nurse my nails back to health starting with rubber gel and then graduated me to rubber gel. They really care about the health of your nails, not just how they look. I'm excited to continue going to AEY Nail Bar in 2023. First, love the atmosphere and location of this salon. It was easy to get to by bus (75) and by car, but you'll need to find street parking nearby. Second, I love my nails. I got a French gel manicure, and it's my second time getting my nails done. There's a few spots where they aren't absolutely perfect, but I'm nitpicky and notice slight things like that. My boyfriend could not see what I was talking about, so not a huge deal! My gripe is that it was kinda painful, and my nail beds are angry today. I'm hoping it heals quickly, and doesn't make the manicure look bad once it does. I'd recommend the place, but maybe not Elle if you have sensitive skin. She did a beautiful job with the nails, but just a bit too rough for me personally. I will be back trying another artist when it's time to refresh my nails. read more

I get the rubber gel--it's awesome if your nails suck or you pick at them too much (like I do). I've gone to Anastasiya a few times now--sweet, serious attention to detail, and long lasting manicure. Seemed like it was my nail technicians first time painting nails, it was actually painful watching how slow she was to paint and she had to keep wiping them off and starting over and they don't even look good leaving. There are bumps all over them, fuzz stuck in the nails, nail polish on my skin, and they are uneven. I would have had them redo them, but I stopped on the way to the airport, had more than enough time, and am now running late. The cup holders in the pedicure chairs were also disgustingly filthy. Since moving to Pittsburgh, I've been on a search for a go-to nail salon. This one has checked all the boxes. - the technicians that I've had, Julia and May were both wonderful. The care they gave to my rugged hands is unmatched. I know they do so many nails each day but they truly treated my hands like their own. They cared for my skin and shaped my nails to the little details. They (and all of the staff there) are very sweet and kind. - I love that I can schedule an appointment with a specific person for an exact time via their online system. - the selection of nail colors is extensive. I get gel but I know they offer dip and regular as well. My gel nails don't start to chip until 4-5 weeks (though I'll have a decent part of my natural nail showing by this point - don't judge me). - there is nearby non metered street parking if you're willing to walk a block or two. There are easy instructions at the door of how to ring in - walk up to the 2nd floor and the salon is the door wide open. Thank you always for my wonderful nails! read more

My second time, (I forget the ladies name) also did an AMAZING job! Went above and beyond with both my gel mani & pedi! I also have felt super safe while there! They require masks for guests & staff (at the time of writing this), they have barriers for pedi and mani, and all around safe practices with their tools and cleaning. The experience was nice overall. Our nail techs Thomasine and Addy were friendly. The music was unique and fun. The atmosphere is bright and fresh. I discovered this spot on Walnut St through an online search. This spot is located on the 2nd floor, up one flight of stairs. My sister and I enjoyed the atmosphere of this space. We were offered beverages when we sat down and I had a delightful herbal tea with honey. The oversized chairs were comfortable with a moveable pedicure tub for our feet. My pedicure was average. I would have liked more attention to be made at scrubbing the callouses on my feet. A mud mask was applied on my feet and legs which had a cooling effect. It felt nice for a few minutes but then I began to feel cold. A warm towel wrap over it might have been a good addition. I also suggested a warm neck wrap would be another step above average for future customers. My biggest disappointment is that the nail polish didn't cover my nails all the way. Also after wearing flip flops on for 4 hours to allow the polish to cure/dry, the polish still smudged by the end of the evening. This was my first time at the salon and I arrived early to pick a color. I was not able to buzz in or call to be let in and waited downstairs for over 15 minutes. When I was about to leave someone finally came down to let me in but no one ever apologized that I was waiting so long. I was then rushed to the chair because they thought I was late when I wasn't. I booked the signature pedicure which was said to be about 45 minutes on the website but ended up taking over 1.5 hours for just a pedicure. They had to redo my one toe three different times & my cuticles literally felt sore. My pedicure has small air bubbles and the edges of my toes were not painted. Both of these making my toes look bad and the paint ended up lasting less then a week before chipping. It was absolutely not worth the $55 & tip that I paid. Will not be returning. read more

I have had a lot of trouble finding a nail salon I like in Pittsburgh. This place was amazing! It's on the second floor and you need to be buzzed in, it's a little hard to find from the street but you can do it. I got a manicure and a pedicure and both were super well done and it only took about an hour and 15 minutes for both. The salon was clean and they very clearly followed all normal sanitizing protocol of the instruments they use. Would 100% return. You can book your appointment online (very important to me) and they are very clear about how much things will cost. You can also charge the tip! read more

Came here for a gel manicure and was extremely disappointed in the quality. The gel "manicure" is $39 (or $45 with tip). First issue: there was never any manicure experience - it was basically just filing and a polish change. There wasn't even a water dish to soak my hands in or any lotion applied afterwards. I would be okay with this if I only had to pay $20 or so, but I paid more than double that. Second issue: I made an appointment for 2 pm and checked in 15 minutes early, but my manicure didn't begin until 2:20 (20 minutes late). There is no waiting room. Third issue: the manicure itself is the worst gel manicure I've ever had. There are bubbles everywhere, sloppy polish application that got stuck to my skin, cotton ball particles stuck in the polish, and a very poor filing job that has left each of my nails a different, asymmetrical shape. Hopefully this review helps someone to save time and money by looking for a gel manicure elsewhere. read more

Came to AEY with a friend for Simple and Sweet Express Pedicures. The salon has a great vibe, play fun music and overall felt and looked very clean!! Their color selection has great variation and appeared to be high-quality. The owner and the nail techs doing our services did a great job, they were friendly and talkative with us. My only complaint is that $35 seems a bit high for an express pedicure, in my opinion. But I had a great experience otherwise and can't wait to be back! UPDATE: I have been back 3 times since my first visit. The second time was fine, nothing extraordinary. The third time, I got a pedicure and my nail tech disappeared; I sat there "drying" for 2 hours before I had to ask another nail tech if I was good to go. This annoyed me, but I figured it was a fluke and didn't mind booking an appointment for manicures and pedicures for myself and 2 friends. As of today, I will officially never be back. I came in for my appointment, which was a simple and sweet pedicure and dip powder manicure. My pedicure was great! No complaints whatsoever. My manicure, however, is a different story. While the technician was working on my cuticles, I noticed it hurt, really badly. I figured it was fine, I haven't had a manicure in a while so whatever. She keeps going and it keeps hurting, she puts a clear coat on and began to sting. As my manicure comes to a finish, I notice that five of my fingers are bleeding, and blood has gotten onto one of my nails. The nail tech either didn't notice or didn't care, and I had to ask her to wipe the blood off. She seemed really annoyed about that, but already had to fix 2 of my nails that she had smudged. She didn't apologize at all for cutting me or smudging my nails. She also got the glue and powder onto the skin on the other sides of my fingertips. She scratched it off on a few fingers, which also hurt, but my middle and ring fingers still have pink smudges. It came time to pay, and she told me it would be $90. I said no, the price for my services online was listed at $80. She told me that she gave me the signature pedicure, not the simple and sweet, and she "performed the services, so it's $90" and didn't "know what else to say." I tried to explain that I had planned on spending $80, that I asked for a particular pedicure for the price point specifically, but she kept repeating herself. "I performed the service, I don't know what else to say." I paid the $90, but wish I hadn't, because I am not happy with the results. AEY was starting to become my go-to nail spot, but now I can say with confidence that I will never be back. I'm giving 2 stars because my pedicure looks great, but even then, it certainly wasn't worth the money. I will take my business elsewhere from now on. read more

My experience here was okay. The staff are all really nice and friendly! I got a dip french manicure and a pedicure. The pedicure was fine, they didn't really work on getting my calluses smooth like I've had in other pedicures, but that's find. My manicure was a little underwhelming as well. I wanted a french dip with a solid pale pink as the base color, and I ended up with a translucent rosey pink color with shimmer. It actually doesn't look bad, but the thing that does bother me is one of my nails is actually messed up- it looks like the final polish wasn't sanded correctly before applying the topcoat, so there's a weird sheen to it. I had a flight to catch the next day so I wasn't able to go back in to ask that it be fixed, so maybe they would've fixed it if I was able to do that. Overall, based on the reviews I expected better, this place was just fine. read more
