I went today with my daughter and aunt for no-chip pedis. My aunt was not treated well, and did not receive the same level of service as we did. Her technician was rude and did not give her the full pedicure that she paid for. She almost acted as if she was being put out by doing the pedicure. My daughter and I had the same technician, she was sweet and definitely tried to give us good pedis, but honestly we have both had better. Definitely not worth the price they charge. 3 no-chip pedicures cost $195. We expected to pay a little more because the shop is in Wicker Park, but we also expected good service and great pedicures to come with that price!!! Alright, I use to like this place and it was my go to spot in Wicker. I could always walk in, and only once was basically told they were too busy and to come back in like thirty min. So in terms of normal manicure/pedicures, they do a good job. However, why I am given 3 stars. I have had two no chip manicures, about a month apart when traveling for weddings. I get the no chip the night before I leave town, by day 2 Its already chipped, both times! It's super frustrating you when pay $35 for something called "no chip" for it to chip just as fast as a normal manicure. And on top of it since I'm out of town it's not like I can go back in that 2 day period and get it fixed (to which I don't know if they would do, if someone knows please let me know). I got this current no chip on Thursday night, by Saturday morning my thumb had chipped and by this morning an entire nail has completely peeled off, it's been 4 days. Mojo spa on Milwaukee, more expensive bc they use organic products (besides the nail polish) and always need an appointment does have a two week guarantee on their no chip. Which they gladly have fixed for me, after a week when I chipped. read more

This is my second time going to Nails by Joy. Zaza Zoo was my go to nail salon for years but after discovering this place that has changed. I've been beyond happy with my no chip manicures & regular pedicures. They must have over 100 no chip color options to choose from including OPI & Essie. The whole ambiance of the place is very serene & quiet, you never hear anyone talking on the phone, FaceTiming etc. Can't say enough good things about this Nail Salon, it's a hidden gem & I'm very surprised it does not have a lot of reviews, do not let that make you think twice about this place. read more

Very happy with my first visit here. They did a wonderful job on my nails, but more so I was moved by the graciousness of the staff. I came to the neighborhood to visit my friend, and as a mom of two (new baby) I was happy to receive some pampering...but on this particular day I had no choice but to bring both kids along. The staff were very understanding and accommodating, even when I had to interrupt both the mani and pedi once each, to take my son to the bathroom. They didn't bat an eye at his (albeit well behaved) 5 year old ways. It was clean and inviting. The pedicure was AMAZING, they really had me at warm stone leg massage. It's really too bad I lost a paraffin wax heel treatment on the way back from the potty; my left heel is ever so slightly softer than my right. Will return for my next no chip mani. :) read more

Came here as I walking by to see if I could get a no chip manicure. Worst quality looking nails ever. They are so bumpy and the paint color has ripples and bubbles. The technician left so much clear coat on my skin around my nails. 4 nails I had to pry the gel off my skin around the nails. So sloppy she had no care in the world how they turned out. My usual nail place was completely booked up for this week and I desperately needed a pedicure before going out of town for a wedding this weekend. I got to Nails by Joy at 7:20 as a walk in and was so thankful they could squeeze me in. They close at 8 so I was in a hurry, so I picked a color and sat down in the chair without even looking at prices or anything like that. The pedicure itself was pretty good. The guy who was doing my nails was so kind and friendly and did a great job overall. At the very end, I think the owner was trying her best to make sure they all got out of there by 8, so she took over and started painting my nails. She first applied a paraffin treatment, which I definitely appreciated since I walk a lot and my feet are very rough and dry. She then started painting and was trying to go as fast as possible. She finished and then quickly sat me under the fan and handed me the bill. $38 for a pedicure! This has got to be one of the most expensive places in the city for a pedicure. My usual place I go to is $30 and it's two blocks down the road and as far as service and quality goes, they are about the same. I thought the pedicure was good, but at this price, I'll stick to my usual place and save some money, so probably won't be coming back here. Definitely over priced for Wicker Park. read more

I went to Nails by Joy in Wicker Park last week and got my nails done before going on vacation. After a few hours leaving the salon I noticed there were bubbles on my nails. When I return from my trip I called the owner and mentioned it to her that it was either the nail polish wasn't good or the drying topcoat. So I went back to have my nails repainted and the second time was even worst. The polish was not evenly distributed somewhere lighter and darker on the same nail. And there was the bubbles again. When I mention it and showed it to the owner she said there was nothing wrong and that I was the problem. They were very cold and unwilling and unpleasant. You would think that when a customer is not happy you would take more attention to fix the problem to make them feel more happy. This is my first and my last time coming to Nails by Joy. read more

I highly recommend this spot. I was visiting Chicago from SF and was very impressed by the quality of the mani pedi I received and the time and care that the aesthetician put into the treatment. The price, $40 for mani/pedi, was also much better than I am used to in SF, but it might be standard for Chicago. In addition to foot/leg and hand massage, she also gave me a shoulder massage. The TV show, Friends, was playing, which was fun to watch. Overall a very relaxing, enjoyable experience. I'm very glad that I stumbled upon this salon. read more

Been going here for years now and honestly haven't found a better nail spot that is as good of quality, affordable, and clean! Gel mani usually last ~3 weeks (and I'm a surgeon who washes my hands a lot!). Pedi in winter usually included hot stone and paraffin treatment that's very quality and worth it. The worst. Call to make my family an appointment to celebrate a birthday. Spoke to the representative over the phone for five minutes and repeatedly confirmed that the appointment was for three people. My family shows up on a Saturday, and they claim we made the appointment for one person. I always go to joy nails because of the great service. I never had a bad experience except for today. The ladies in the shop today I guess they are new. I made a appointment for no chip. I got there on time and had no chip on so of course the lady puts the acetone and the aluminum paper on my nails. A customer walks in with no appointment and wanted a no chip gel and a pedi so the lady who was doing mY nails told her to wait 15 min. But 5 min later she got up and was starting her pedicure. I waited for 10 min thinking that she was just setting her up. I asked the other lady who works there what's going on? I made a appointment I shouldn't be waiting. I got a manicure and gel polish out in a few days ago. I went with a few friends and we all agreed it was a positive experience! I usually go to a different place downtown but they were unavailable. I didn't give Joy five stars because they didn't meet my expectations when it comes to cleaning up my cuticles. But they did give a very short shoulder massage after the manicure with I loved. My nail tech was very quiet and kinda awkward but nice. So far the nails look great with no lifting. I would recommend trying this place out! read more

I used to go to Fushia Nails all the time when I lived in wicker and was pretty excited about the remodeling of Joy but have only been disappointed with the new management. I went twice for a no chip mani and both times my nails chipped very quick so I decided to find a new salon closer to where I live ( I used to live down the block but moved to Logan square - so I would make a point to go to this location ) but I ended up giving Nails by Joy another shot the Wednesday before nye and was very disappointed. I got a no chip manicure and no less than 2 days later, half of my nails were popping off - almost like the polish wasn't actually connected to my nail. I went back Friday to get them fixed and all the nail tech did was put clear coat on the tips of each nail. Well, of course when I woke up on Saturday all of the nails were coming off again - I normally would just go somewhere else but I was in a wedding on nye and needed my nails fixed and didn't want to pay for a whole new no chip when I just got them done. So again, I went back and told the manager I needed them removed and redone because it was obviously the polish wasn't sticking to my nail. He said fine and had the same nail tech re do my nails. During the entire process she was notably sighing and acting like she was upset. I was just annoyed and thought it was rude, but whatever. The kicker is that another woman came in as I was there complaining of the exact same situation. Within 3 days, my nails started to chip again. I don't know if they're using old products or just not paying attention, but it's clearly impacting the quality. I will not be returning anymore. read more

I have been to this place about 5 separate times. Each time I try to give the benefit of the doubt and think next time will be better. I have had a different person each time. Each time my nails have been messed up. The last and final time I got my nails done i had to ask to look at the colors for the no chip, I had to speak up multiple times to let the manicurist know that my nails weren't even, I wasn't asked what shape I wanted them or if I wanted them just to be filed. Towards the end she forgot to put the top coat on my nails, I had to let her know, she was not even paying attention to what she was doing. My nails are still uneven it looks like I did my nails and didn't go get them done. It was done very poorly. Very poor customer service as well, not welcoming or inviting. I would really recommend to go somewhere else for your nails. Never again will I go there. read more

I went back in and they re-did both nails but within 2 days more nails were already peeling. Very disappointing since I would expect a no-chip to decently last at least 2 weeks. If you want a simple no frills manicure this the place. They have tons of shellac colors. The staff is nice and doesn't talk your ear off which I enjoy. I have done walk ins and have called ahead as well. I would suggest calling on a weekend, they tend to get busy. Walked in on a Saturday afternoon and the place looked nice. Clean and bright. The girls not so much. They just go through the motions of a pedicure and don't actually do anything but rub your feet for five minutes and then put polish on and hurry you out the door. It's not even busy here. My girl is pretending not to know English so she doesn't have to talk to me when I heard her perfectly fine when we walked in. My friend and I are both never coming back here. I walked in on a Friday for a no chip and they were able to take me right away. The salon is clean and bright. Pricing was standard for the area. I guess I have become accustomed to a little more pampering for that price point. Other salons give little shoulder rubs, offer something to drink, provide gentle scrubs, or hand massages with the lotion. This is pretty much cuticles, go wash your hands in a sink, nail polish, and slap on some lotion. No extras. I can live without all that if the manicure is on point. Unfortunately I got my no chip done on Friday afternoon and by Monday morning, two nails (one on each hand) were peeling off. I just started going here after following my technician, Annie. Nails by Joy is a clean and comfortable place to get your nails done. All of the staff is friendly and welcoming. They even give paraffin treatment on your heals included with a pedicure. The products they use are top quality and my regular manicure has already lasted six days without chipping. Yay! Glad this place finally started their own yelp page. I didn't want to leave a review for fuchsia nails because ..it's not fuchsia nails anymore. I live only two blocks away and always come to this location. I LOVE IT! I love how modern it looks and the service there is great! It's standard Chicago prices and B.Y.O.B. I get a regular manicure every 1.5-2 weeks and always request Sarah. She is the cutest person ever and always does a tremendous job. I am very indecisive when it comes to picking out colors and Sarah is always patient with me because sometimes i'll pick one color and half way through i'll pick another 2 or 3 colors.. They always have Sex in the City playing and it seems like it's always the same two or three episodes. It's a great show to put on at a nails salon, but I would like to watch some different episodes. haha Overall, I love this place and I'll be back next week to get my next mani :D read more

They only have one person who can wax apparently, so they told me to wait 30 minutes while 3 of them sat around and painted their own nails and the only lady who could wax painted somebody else's nails....
