I keep trying other nail salons and I always keep coming back to Digits, even though I've moved out of the neighborhood. It's the perfect combination of affordability, cleanliness, professionalism and a relaxing environment. Every aesthetician I've had there has been very professional and gentle with my pedicures. It also helps that they have the pedicure chairs with the massagers built into them, and there's a TV to watch while you're having the pedicure. The level of cleanliness is always top notch. I usually go during the day midweek and it is never busy -- I can always walk right in. The vibe is relaxed and relatively calming for a nail salon (though if you're looking for a spa experience, go to a spa.) I also like that they have dryers for pedicures, and your aesthetician gives you a short shoulder/neck massage while you're drying. Before you leave they will spray your toes and put plastic bags over your feet so that you don't ruin your pedicure. Just an overall, consistently good experience. read more

Absolutely loved this place. Luane was amazing. Does anyone know where she went? Her no chips would last me 4-6 weeks and she gave the best massages read more

Great place, great job and very clean. Been going there for years and never had a complaint. Highly recommended

I love this place-they are nice, accommodating, clean, lovely, everything. I am sorry to not have posted sooner, but I've been going here for at least 10 years and I've never been anything but happy with the service. I even moved out of the neighborhood and still Loanne and Sophia are my go-tos. The no-chips they do last at least 2 weeks if not longer. Over the years I've overlapped with many customers who are regulars and have also moved to different neighborhoods but still frequent Digits. I just really love this place and everyone there. read more

One of the rudest places I've been to. I came to ask a quick question, because I wanted to get my nails done. She wouldn't even open the door at first. She just stared at me and said no. I rang the doorbell and when I asked her a question, she shuck her head and slammed it in my face and laughed. I was shocked, because I can't imagine treating anyone like that. No wonder it was empty. read more

Great service and wonderful, friendly ,caring nail technicians. The nail polish selection is beautiful and the space is super clean and has tones of flowers and plants. Feels very welcoming! Highly recommend to give them a try! read more

I almost wish this place would stay my lil secret. LoAnn is my lady. I only go for no chip manicures and she's a pro. I admit I have special needs when it comes to manicures (I like my nails pointy, I don't like a thick coat at the cuticles, I want my polish to wrap the tips of my nails) and LoAnn doesn't even blink an eye. -I love her patience especially because I do not possess any -She's SO very detailed -She recommends great options when I'm indecisive -Her shoulder massages turn me into jello I didn't have a super experience on my first visit here but then again, it was a Saturday and it was busy. Needless to say, I'm so glad I gave them another shot and found LoAnn. It's hard to find a manicurist that is consistent so when you do... TIP THEM WELL! It's not worth trying out a new spa regularly and reporting a horror story because of some "special deal". Hell to the no. read more

See all

This nail salon is hands down the best in the city. I have gone here for years and cannot believe I've never left a review. Loann and Sophia are so wonderful! I always see Loann but both ladies do an excellent job! Their prices are incredibly reasonable. I always get a no chip mani and regular pedi. Even the pedi lasts almost 4 weeks! They do not use cheap watered down product like many salons. They use quality products that last and are good on your nails. They do not double book and keep clients waiting. They schedule appropriately so the appointment never feels rushed and is always a really calm peaceful relaxing experience! The place is so clean - it's always spotless! They know their colors so well and can help you pick matching no chip and regular color if you wish (I always do). They will always recommend colors that are good for the season against your skin tone if you ask, but never force their preference on you either. Do not be scared by any bad reviews. This salon is booked solid all week long with regulars who know what a hidden gem of a salon this is! Any bad reviews are very obviously one off customers who never gave the salon a real chance or full try. Do yourself a favor and try this place! If you like or don't like something, tell them - they are so respectful and will listen. They truly care about the satisfaction of their customers! But most important my nails and toes always look perfect when I walk out the door, and they look perfect 3-4 weeks later, which is never true if I go anywhere else. read more

I've been to this nail place about four times now. My friend lives and works in the area so this is always our main choice. There's a couple of good things about this place, such as the fact that they take walk ins, and are generally clean, however I'm always very torn about this place and the price. Today's experience basically made me write this review. Today my friend and I got walk-in pedicures, and we were seated fairly quickly. The lady who worked on me was someone I've never seen there before, but she was very friendly and made small talk (something the other girls I've had never do). When I gave her my color choice she asked if I wanted the same color for my hands, I said "No, only toes today, thank you". My whole experience was good with her, no complaints, it was only what came afterwards that really bothered me. She got finished with the pedicure and was about to send me off to dry before she stopped me again and said "So you want the same for your hands right?". I was like "Umm, no I'm fine". OK, I figured maybe she forgot so I let it go. About 10 minutes later, my friend and I are both chit chatting in the drying area when the girl who worked on me approached me and asked us "Do you both want a brow wax? Only five dollars.". OK, at this point it was close to closing time, and it was obvious we were both there for pedis only. I started getting annoyed because I felt like she kept selling and suggesting services, which is fine I guess, but it just seemed a little desperate. When I was done drying off, she put the oil + baggies on my feet and like a mother instructing her child told me "put your shoes on, and pay at the counter right now and then you can go chit chat with your friend". I felt weird having her stare at me while I put on my shoes and go through my bag for my wallet. I don't know if she was expecting me to run off and not pay, but whatever. I went to the counter and payed and even gave her a tip, even though I was already bothered by this lady. So whatever, I probably won't come back to this place and I already convinced my dear friend that we should go somewhere else. Like I said, they are good for walk ins and are clean as well, but I also hate being treated like a child, and like someone is trying to take advantage of me by suggesting or tricking me into more services. With these girls, you either get an entire silent treatment (like my friend did) or someone who is overly suggestive and controlling. read more

I was hoping that even though I had my nails done on a Thursday night, they would still look good on Saturday night. I knew I was taking a risk since the mani/pedi was such a bargain ($37!!!) Sadly, not 48 hours later, I found myself trying to color in the chip of Lincoln Park After Dark on my pointer finger with black sharpie 20 minutes before I was supposed to leave the house. read more

This is a review of the Montrose location. After trying to get into 2x10 with no luck, I decided to venture down to Digits. They have a $32 mani/pedi deal on Tuesday and Wednesday. Personally I don't like going on day when salons have these deals b/c I think they skimp on service but I needed a pedi so I gave in. No one was in here. Not a good sign for me considering 2x10 down the street was packed. Also, they recently changed the days they have their $32 special and I'm assuming b/c they don't have much business. However they don't have much business b/c they're just not that good. First, my friend and I enter. There is no greeting. Annoying. So of course I greet them and tell them the services we want. We get seated right away b/c no one was there. The water for pedi was cold. Not warm at all and there were no jets on. Boo! The pedicure itself wasn't terrible but she definitely could have done a better paint job. My friend had to say something about getting her feet and legs rubbed b/c her chick almost skipped it. The manicure was ok but again terrible paint job. Another weird interaction is that they charge less if you pay in cash. It's 2012, get it together and pay the credit card transaction fee. Personally it just seems a lil shady if you get different prices for paying in cash v credit card. It would be nice if they told you this before service too. My advice, skip this place and head a few blocks down to 2x10. read more

Never going back. I went to get my nails done after reading good reviews, and decided that the one review may have been an exception....No way. They cut my finger nails -- I asked them to be shaped and was completely ignored by the technician who was too busy talking to other employees across the room. To top it off my nails chipped that night -- I did nothing excessive to make this happen! They only put one coat of nail polish on and did not clean my nails after applying nail polish remover. I had a flight the next morning at 7 am, so I was unable to go in and show them their crappy job. At least I can write a review to warn people. read more

I used to be a long time customer on the Southport location. I will never return after how I was treated. I walked in without an appointment and asked for a manicure. They said yes. However, I began trying colors on only to be told they had someone was coming in at 6 for an appointment. The woman was incredibly rude to me, basically asking me to leave. I was willing to wait and was being shoved out the door. read more

This is not a spa! No one is going to take you to the relaxation room and bring you lemon water while a CD of a babbling brook plays in the background. This is a place to get your nails DID. This said, I had a no chip Mani Pedi @ a beautiful spa... $120 later all I had to show for it was meh No chip that lasted less than a week! At this place I pay $60 (go on a Mon/Tue) and it lasted FOREVER!! No exaggeration. I could probably go a month if it weren't for my outgrowth. They do a really quality job and the place is clean. I am in LOVE with my nails this time around I got a little glitter. ;) read more

Digits Nail Spa - No chip w/ a little glitter. So HAPPY! Love love love. - Nail Salons Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Attention all women (and men) who are fans of GOOD, QUALITY manis, pedis, and the like. Digits is where it's at! Believe me, I've tried them all, and Digits by far surpasses. They spend an extreme amount of time on little details that many places skim over (perfect cuticles, precise painting, scraping, digging...uh well you get the pic, and you know it's not always pretty. The women are all really good at what they do. And, they are friendly. Sure, they are talking shite behind our backs, but who isn't! It's worth it to me. Also, the price is right! I think it's only 37 for a mani pedi, and a damn good one at that. Just don't come here if you're in a super rush because they really do take their time. Hell, they even give you a back massage while your nails are drying. Beat that 2x10, Nail Bar, etc. read more

Came here after 2x10s was closed for the day. Got an angry look when we first walked in followed by them saying they only had 2 people working and were asked to come back. There was only 3 of us. We easily could have waited but instead was told to find somewhere else. read more

They do the best no chip polish nails at an affordable price! They seriously last weeks and everyone there is super friendly and nice. My only complaint is that one woman always tries to talk me out of the color I say I want, which after a few visits can get irritating. Aside from that, this is my favorite nail salon hands down! read more

After being a Pinky's devotee for about 2 years, I thought I would give Digits a chance. I was enticed by their $32 mani/pedi Mondays-Wednesdays and now I can't imagine going anywhere else! Unlike some other salons, the same girls are working on the discounted price days and I always get top notch service. The salon is clean and the technicians are friendly and as chatty as you want them to be. My manicures routinely last over a week, just with regular polish and topcoat. I'm looking forward to trying the no-chip manicure next! Thanks Digits! read more

I've been going to Digits the last few times for my mani-pedis and eyebrow waxes after a few disappointing trips to 2x10 down the street. Digits is a great alternative. They have newer nail polishes and cheaper prices. I always feel pampered and well taken care of at Digits and haven't had to wait for a mani-pedi yet! One thing I wish they'd do is use gloves when they give you a pedicure, but everything in the salon is clean so I've never been all that grossed out. They take a dollar off your tab if you pay with cash, btw! read more

Best French manicure I have gotten in a small storefront salon ever. The pedicure was okay, nothing spectacular. But definitely worth the price. I'll definitely be going back. Update: My manicure lasted a full week. I've NEVER had a mani last that long. Even more impressed with the place now. read more

I've been to Digits a half an hour before closing on more than one occasion. They are always willing to squeeze me (and usually my friends in tow!) in. I was there once when the owner was on vacation and noticed that the staff wasn't quite as willing to squeeze us in, but they did. We've even brought champagne in and they've provided cups, etc. I've never gotten a pedi here, but the manis are always professional and last almost a week. read more

I've tried. I really have. I'm not basing this off 1 experience either, it's off multiple. It is the closest nail salon to home, but only by 1/2 a block. Within 1-2 more blocks there are 5 more nail salons, so the location is not worth it by any means. And with that much competition near, I'm blown away they are still in business. I am always completely rushed to pick a nail color. Honestly, the owner acts like you should know the moment you walk in. And literally every second that goes by, she's getting pushier and pushier. To the point where she's pulling nail colors down acting like she's "helping" you but really it's just to get you in and out. Even when nobody else is in there!! So the time that finally made me write this, after a few cold treatments in the past, is based off the pricing and rudeness. This place, like many others, is very strict about the cash tip. Having been there a few times, I was sure to come prepared. I have never received a polish change there before, though, so haven't had an issue with only spending $10. As I had asked for a 2nd layer of sparkles for a Xmas party, I was told it was an extra $3. Ok, no big deal, I understand. So then she asks me to pay before we get going, yes, normal, but then says there is a whole $2 fee to put on a card. I asked if I could just put the tip on the card too then there would be a $15 minimum, and she said no. I mean soup nazi/nail nazi "NO". Please keep in mind a regular manicure here is $15, and they are wanting to charge me the same for a polish change because of sparkles and using my card. I have been to a LOT of nail salons, and there has never been a minimum for a CC machine, let alone $15. Come on. So, I went back to the bank AGAIN for more cash. Came back and paid the $13. Well, after she looked at the colors I wanted, and the design, she said it wouldn't look good. Therefore, she dabbed the tip of 2 nails with sparkles, as we decided it would look best. Beforehand, I asked if she was still going to charge me an extra $3 for those 2 mini dabs, and she said yes. The owner's rules. I'd like to point out the woman doing my nails was trying to be nice but you could tell she's going by the owner's strict rules. Because of course they're talking away in a different language, gesturing and what not towards me, their only customer. Also keep in mind, I am not cheap!! I will pay for what I want/get. That's how life is! I live in Chicago on Southport, I'm not wheeling and dealing, but the principle of the matter is this was an absurd up charge. Then they have the audacity to say "well 2x10 across the street charge $5 for sparkles." Well I've been there, where they are all VERY nice, and I know they wouldn't charge me extra for these 2 dabs. I've attached a picture so you can see how little sparkle was used for a nice $3 extra. The 2nd coat of color is put on sloppily as well, not even to the edge of the nails so it's almost like 2 colors of blue (used Russian Navy) due to the polish job. I've really tried to make this place work. They always have the least business in their place which is nice for a quiet main/pedi and they WERE priced well, but now I know why they must have the least business. I've always tried to be extra nice so I can't give them a reason to be rude, but to no avail. Business owners like this need to remember we're here for a service, paying customers. It is wrong to be treated like they are going out of their way to serve us, when we are what is keeping them in business. They should want our business, it is very confusing to me. Needless to say, I have given them too many chances and this last one left me furious and finally to my breaking point. Will not return. Pinky Nails, 2x10 Nails, Nas, etc...go there. read more

Been twice, and now it's my spot. Great pedicures where they rub your shoulders as your tootsies dry. I got my eyebrows waxed for the first time there today and they look great! Good color selection, walk-in friendly, massage chairs... what more do ya want? read more

I went here because I just wanted to check out what was in my neighborhood as far as salons. I got the mani-pedi. Honestly. It's a bit over-priced for what it is. At least in my experience. (Granted, it's also the area -- 2x10 is also over-priced in my mind too.) It was just a basic mani-pedi. I got a short shoulder massage afterward while my nails dried. The chair was nice, but there weren't any controls -- so once it was done it was done. It just wasn't anything special in my experience. Had it been $10 cheaper, I'd be uber satisfied. But nope. Still searching for a good and reasonably priced place near my apartment. read more

I figured while I am finishing my own no-chip at home I will write this review. Some manicurists are speedy because they are proficient, and some are speedy because they seem to resent their profession and/or just want to get you out of the door. I do hope that my experience represents just one employee (I do not have her name) instead of the whole store, but my manicurist was certainly the latter. She butchered my cuticles (I don't say that lightly -- two were bleeding) and covered it up with the gel polish. They didn't give me welcoming, cuddly feels as a customer but frankly that doesn't affect my rating because I don't expect that at any nail salon. To her credit, she was very thorough about applying coats and giving them curing time. There are two other nail salons within a VERY short distance from here, and I've had positive experiences with them both. Please choose one of those, *especially* if you are one of those people a little uncomfortable with self-care and/or unfamiliar with what a professional manicure should be like. read more

I've gotten two No-Chip manicures here and both times the paint has peeled off after 2 weeks. If you have gotten no-chips or shellacs before you KNOW that it's mind-boggling that the polish can peel off! Any other time I have gotten a no-chip manicure I've had to soak my nails in acetone to remove it and this was after a month of wear. Heads up: they also don't use a popular brand name polish (like OPI or Essie) for their no-chips it's a brand I have never heard of. I won't get a no-chip manicure here again. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE! I've only been in once, but I will never come in again! From start to finish my experience was less than fantastic. She also cut into my cuticles and they started to bleed! Not going back... read more

I love Digits! As a runner, my pedicures usually don't last very long but Digits has found a way to curb that from happening....they usually last about a month! In addition to the long lasting pedis, I've found the techs don't make me feel self-conscious for not having the most beautiful feet.....I mean, I don't have fungus growing out of my feet or anything like that, but running (marathon training) 4-5 days a week has taken its toll. The ladies at Digits make my feet look their best and I walk out of the salon feeling confident about showing them off in a cute pair of sandals. The salon is very clean and last time I was there, they even had "Sex and the City" on tv! It doesn't get much better than that. read more

Update 4/1/17: I had my last ever visit to Digits today after being a five-year patron. I went here for a mani/pedi, because it was pretty quiet. In my initial review, I made a comment about how I go to this salon for the eye brow wax, but encouraged skipping other services, (because the nail services are pretty hit or miss). The owner has always been very nice to me, but I guess she read my review. True to the salon, when I walked in the door, I told her I was there for a mani-pedi; without missing a beat, the owner said in a sarcastic tone, "Oh, you don't want an eye brow wax?!" (The other employees chuckled). I hope the owner enjoyed that moment; I will not be returning to this establishment. It's one thing to be salty about a customer not being satisfied with their experience, but I will not tolerate being spoken to in a passive aggressive tone, let alone by a business owner. I do not recommend this salon. read more

Digits did a great job on both fingers and toes. This place is incredibly clean, and they do an amazing french manicure here. A little time consuming, but worth it (it lasted for 12 days). I enjoyed my pedicure very much and she was very gentle to this pedi-virgin. They have a great deal on mani-pedi's on Mon-Tues ($32), and the staff is really nice. read more

I had artificial nails and had a hard time finding a salon to fill them. After reading the reviews I was happy to go and check it out. The staff was friendly enough, and the place was clean. However, the technician made my nails bleed twice and she never apologized, just asked if it hurt.....of course it hurt! I left happy that my nails looked nice, but sad that I was in pain. About 2 weeks later I became irritated with the fake nails so I decided to go back to have them removed, and also get a mani-pedi. The pedi was fine, but I have had much better. Then, unlike Sarah M's experience with removal, she slide an acrylic nail under the tip and ripped them off. I was basically in tears and she didn't stop for anything! I knew it wasn't going to be the best feeling, but it was terrible! I wish that she would have removed the nails with clippers to make it less painful. Then for the mani..... I was bleeding on 4 different fingers. You would think that I have thin skin but I have never had that happen before and pretty much left the salon in tears. I gave it the second chance and I will not be going back. Nail.com on Clark is the place to go! read more

I received a gift card for a manicure here and love trying new salons so my friend and I walked in around 2PM on a Saturday. When we entered, the woman running the salon basically yelled at us, and said there was a 40 minute wait. The neighborhood is great so my friend and I walked around the cute shops until we could be seen. Even though my gift card had "xx" written in the dollar amount with "manicure" written next to it she still up-charged me, forcing me to pay an additional $3 for the manicure. I'm obviously not complaining about the cost but if you have a gift card for a MANICURE you shouldn't have to pay extra for a MANICURE. The mani was nothing special and the customer service is poor. I won't be returning. read more

Nice and clean, good service, but... It was my first time and I really enjoyed the service. No rush, felt welcomed and got perfect mani/pedi. One thing though, I was 8 months pregnant and I received Zero help afterwords. I am not expecting anyone dressing me up, however, the guy behind the desk just looked and almost smiled as I was struggling to reach my feet to remove slippers and put my socks on. Believe me, I am (usually) very easy going, but if you see a woman who cannot reach her feet, please help. Thanks read more

I live a block down from Digits Nail Spa, so I thought I would give it a try. The first time I went on a Wednesday for the mani-pedi special. It seems like a great deal, but you don't even get what you pay for. I have danced ballet for 15 years and am still dancing, so I don't expect my feet to be perfect, but they barely scrubbed my feet at all and they were just as rough as when I went it. My nails looked great at first! But two days later, every single nail was chipped. I decided to give them a second try, thinking maybe my poor manicure was just a fluke. I was going to the Marine Corps Ball on Friday so went in Wednesday for a no-chip mani and regular pedi. By Thursday, the polish on my right thumb had completely fallen off--as if it didn't even adhere to my nail. By the Ball on Friday, all my nails were either chipped or had fallen off. When I went in on Monday to complain, all 10 nails were bare. The happily redid my nails, claiming this was just a fluke. But by Thursday, all my nails were bare again. I have NEVER had this problem anywhere else; my no-chip manicure always easily stay on for the full two weeks. Unless you want to throw away $70(!!!!) on a no chip mani and regular pedi that will fall off two days later, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. I will continue to tell everyone I know to never go there. Really, go to 2x10 jut two blocks east on Montrose. Again, I will never return. The worst manicure I have ever had. read more

I live in the southport corridor so I gave Digits a try. The first 2 times it was a good experience and I think it was less expensive than the other places in the area. The 3rd and last time I went in for a pedicure and the woman was so horrible!! I picked out a very deep red for my toes. She applied the polish every which way.....mostly horizontally! I was deep into my US magazine when I realized she was cleaning the skin ALOT. I looked up and there was red all over my skin on every toe. For the next 15-20 minutes I watched as she tried to get the color off my skin. When she was finished I still had to ask her to clean the red off. I haven't been back since and don't plan on ever going back. read more

Digits is a great, clean, comfortable nail salon in the heart of the Southport Corridor. They have a good number of spa pedicure stations, so your wait for a mani/pedi is never too long. The massage chairs at the pedi stations are fantastic. The pedicures are far better here then any other chop shops in the neighborhood. They tend to last about 35-40 minutes with the majority of that time spent on foot rubbing. The staff is friendly and courteous. A definite gem. read more
