I just went back through these reviews and saw so many similar stories to mine, I've had a few friends go here recently despite my very serious warnings, and all of them have come back with similar stories. Its to the point where I feel this place needs to be shut down...seriously. Side note, the medicine my sister was eventually put on to clear the infection cost over $200...by far the most expensive pedicure ... I totally loathe Digits. read more

I highly advise against giving your business to Digits Nail Spa. I made an appointment to come in at a specific time and when I arrived they refused to take me "because they also take walk in customers." I planned my evening around this appointment and the customer service was brusque, unapologetic and unacceptable for a neighborhood business. read more

love this place! can't beat the 32$ tuesday/wednesday special and the girls are very nice and professional. I am not a huge nail salon goer but I will definitely come back here. My toes and nails are perfect and the shoulder massage in the end is a really nice touch :-) read more

The WORST customer service EVER!!!! I have put up with ultra-rude Sophia, who runs this salon at 3704 N. Southport, to receive the manicures/pedicures by her nice sister, Crystal. Crystal is intermittently available and I chanced to catch her at the salon working this Sunday morning around 11 AM. No other customers were in the shop. I confirmed Crystal's availability with her. You might as well call Sophia the manicure Nazi. While I was choosing colors, another customer came into the shop. Sophia gave the customer to Crystal. I had already removed my shoes and socks!! Sophia then offered the other nail tech. Even the customer who came in after me spoke up and said I should have Crystal. But Sophia wouldn't relent. I put my shoes and socks back on and went across Southport to 2X10 Nails, where I was given immediate service and treated appropriately. Business must be better than it looked for Sophia to throw customers out the door by treating them so unapologetically badly. AVOID AVOID AVOID read more

I`m a usual customer of the Digits. They do a really nice job.It has comfortable environment, neat and the staffs are polite. The pedicure chairs are so great...so relaxing. Over all the Digits is a very warm and friendly place to treat yourself. read more

Solid 4 stars. The manicure lasted a good four days with out any chips and the experience was an enjoyable one. I'm kind of like a five year old child and have a tendency to sit down at the drying table and immediately smudge my nails. My nail girl was very nice and fixed both of the nails I smudged, then she gave me a great neck/back massage. Nice! The price is right also, 15 dollars, not too shabby. read more

A great cheap, quick nail salon. They've got massage chairs for while you get a pedicure. Clean, quick, and a massage while my nails are drying. The flat screen TVS are usually playing the local news or whatever old, random movie is on USA or TNT for the day. I did have a bizarre bikini wax here so I would avoid that-but highly recommended for manis and pedis. read more

digits is great, but this review is mostly for 1 certain technician- louain (my spelling is probably off). for about a year, i had artificial gel nails- and for some reason it's really hard to find a salon in lakeview that will do those. not only does digits have a technician who can apply/repair/refill them flawlessly, she is soooo gentle! instead of sliding an acrylic nail under the gel to rip it off like most would (which is incredibly painful) she takes the couple extra minutes to remove the nails with clippers. also, she has never once accidentally cut my cuticles. many times i would run into the salon about an hour before they would close, and never did i get the feeling that they were rushing through the services to get me out. if you're looking for pain-free artificial nail care, this is the place to go. side note- i've had a regular manicure and pedicure here as well, and both were great. read more

Never have I had a manicure last a full week! $35 for a mani pedi is a great deal - for it to last this long is a steal!

. They did ask me about the massaging chairs the last time that I was there....wonderful. The girl that did my nails this time really did a thorough job and took her time, but my manicure chipped the next day :( It's just really the most convenient place right now until I try Vie's nails on Lincoln.... read more

This place is DISGUSTING. I've been twice. Once I got an infection in a toenail. The other time the girl cut my cuticles after I very specifically asked her not to do so, and that got infected. Stay FAR away. Go to 2x10 kitty corner for a great mani/pedi! read more

While my sister and I were visiting my cousin in Chi-town this past weekend, the three of us went here for mani/pedi's. My cousin used to live in this neighborhood and she was a regular of Digits. Now that she lives further away, she still takes every chance to come back... and I can see why. Right away the boss lady welcomed her, asked about her daughter, asked when her next was due... it was very personable and you could tell she appreciates my cousins business. My cousin told us that a few times when she's come in on specials occasions (her birthday, wedding day) that they've giving her services on the house. The service we received that day was great. All three of us got to sit down right away, and we were all happy with our nails at the end. It's been 5 days and I only have one chip on my finger, and none on my toes. Something that really makes this salon stand out from the others I've been to (and I've been to a lot) is they give you a back/neck massage at the end while your nails are drying. If I lived in this area, I would for sure be a regular! read more

Clean place. The woman who did my nails was rather terse and rude to my friends and I, which wasn't appreciated. Got a no chip mani and regular pedi which was $61. Top coat of the no chip came off of 2 of my nails less than 3 hrs after getting them done. Shouldn't be the case if I'm paying that much. Won't be going back. read more

I don't know about the quality of this place b/c when I stopped in to get a pedicure on my lunch it didn't get done. I walked in and was told they could do it in 20 minutes. No problem, I'll go get lunch and come back. I come back 20 minutes later and they have me sit in one of the pedicure chairs. No one runs water in the foot bath, I'm just sitting in the chair. After another 20 minutes go by and I realize that I just don't have time any more. Of course when I start putting my sandals on they "are just about to get to me." If you can't take a customer that is fine, just tell me. I would have been more likely to try them again if I knew they weren't going to waste my time in the future. I'll take my $30/week elsewhere. read more

Went in for a no chip on Thursday, it was rather fast, no a huge compliment. As someone who has been getting no chips every 2 weeks for the last two years I want to say aside from the occasional bad filing job, the actual no chip has always been impressive. Not here.... When I got home I noticed that my thumb nail was bubbling. Now, 5 days later, it looks absolutely ridiculous. Literally like little air bubbles underneath my nail lifting the polish. I'm not sure what went wrong, perhaps the UV light wasn't strong enough (which I sensed because it didn't feel like usual) but I'm very sad. I only even went there because I recently moved and it's the closest to much new house. It's a shame it wasn't a success, I would've been a very loyal customer. No chip people, BEWARE. read more

Do not go here. They are rude and have the worst customer service. I went in at 6 and the business hours listed said they closed at 7:30. They said they were booked and couldn't see me even though two nail technicians were not doing anything and at least one more was almost done. There was nobody waiting. I only wanted to go here because it was closer to my house, but I already had an appointment at 2(x) 10 nails on N. Clark street. Much better customer service and better product! read more

I came in to get a pedicure to simply pass the time. The experience was mediocre to say the least. The customer service left something to be desired. My technician did a very nice job on my French paint job. Just wish there was more of a "hey, we're happy for your business and is there anything you need," atmosphere. Also, bad mouthing your customers in another language in front of other customers doesn't leave a great impression either. If you just want a good paint job and don't really want any frills, this place will work. read more

I recently went to digits for my second pedicure there. The first time, they did an EXCELLENT job on everything, from the scrub, leg massage, polishing, etc. My pedi also lasted a REALLY long time, even after wearing flip flops and doing a lot of loving around. I went in for my second pedicure yesterday, and although it was still good, I felt like I didn't get as great of a service as I did the first time, which could be because every manicurist is different in their style, but I was still slightly disappointed. However, I do plan on going back for my next pedi as their price is very reasonable-$28 pedi, but they knock off a dollar if you pay with cash, which is great! Definitely bring cash for a tip as they aren't able to include it on the card. read more

This place does a great manicure/pedicure, but is super pricey! They charge $10 to take your no chip mani off! Most places do it for free. I wish they told me ahead of time because I would have gone to 2x10 across the street. They also do a great mani/pedi & are much more affordable. Save yourself the $ and enjoy a mani/pedi at 2x10 when you are on southport. read more

Least friendly people there. They rush through both mani/padi and they are not nice. There's a salon down the street on southport with staff that is the next. We only came here today because the other place had a hour wait. Don't come here. You can pay half of the price for a mani that is 10x as good read more

This. Place. Sucks. The nail tech did not exhibit the mastery of the English language until it was time for me to pay.

I went for a mani pedi over the weekend. The wait was short and the salon seemed very clean. My pedi was great and I liked the way it looked. My mani was fine for most of the day but by the next day I had several chips and the next day, everysingle finger had a chip. I know that happens sometimes with manicures but not 1 to 2 days afterward. I don't think I would go back here for a manicure. read more

I love this place! I went here a year and a half ago for pre-bachelorette party festivities and they did a great job. Recently went back...the space is great with the massage chairs and the attention to detail on your nails is great. Cheaper than other places too! read more

Was quite pleased with my experience at Digits. Everyone was nice, if quiet, and none of it hurt. So far no fungus or anything, and despite much wandering and typing no chips on fingers or toes :D Monday and Tuesday you can get a mani/pedi for $32--let's just hope it lasts until Saturday! read more

I love Digits! I go there on average 2-3 times per month for a manicure and once a month for a pedicure. The girls are so friendly and really do a great job. I think its clean, reasonably priced and a great Southport nail salon! read more

I've been coming to this place for a few years now, and in my opinion it's slowly declining. I'm not sure if it's because I go later in the day, but the work is sloppy and rushed. LoAnn is great, but it's hard to get her and the rest of the girls are just okay. read more

LOVE this place! I always request Jen. She is so sweet and always does an amazing job. I get the gel manicure for $35 and it always lasts me a while. They also have a nice big TV and always have something interesting on to entertain you while youre getting pampered. very clean and great service. read more

I've been her twice, to the location on Montrose. First time, regular mani and pedi. Loved it, its clean, up to date, no long waits and services is great. Second time, I got a pedi and a No-chip mani, on a Saturday afternoon. $68 bucks. My No-chip, chipped by Tuesday. (3 nails) I called and told them, they had me come in to fix it. By Thursday, another nail chipped. So disappointing. I will go back for pedis but no more manis. I came all the way from Evanston, because I can't find a good no-chip mani in my area. I guess my search is back on, but highly recommended for pedis. read more

I'm surprised by the mixed reviews! Maybe I just had a really awesome tech! She wasn't on the phone nor preoccupied with other employees. They also really know how to cater to their audience. They had on some Sandra Bullock chick-flick (not my thing, but I swear every woman in the salon was glued to that flat screen). My manicure must have lasted two weeks! And my pedicure is still looking great! Pedicures typically last me a while, but manicures last me maybe a week, if I'm lucky. Not with Digits! They're also very affordable, especially for the area. $32 for a mani/pedi? Yes please! The part that was a little annoying, but hardly a deal breaker was when I was checking out. The weather had changed and I wanted to just wear the slippers out to my car. I offered to pay for the ones I was wearing (a tad sturdier than the typical pedi shoes), they said no, but would sell me a typical, flimsy pair. However, since I didn't have any cash and the slippers were just $2, I had to come up to something like $15 to put it on my card. So I walked out with a base coat, Lincoln Park After Dark, and the slippers. Something else that was just a touch annoying was not being able to tip on card. I would definitely recommend Digits to people! Your manicure will last you! read more

This is one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a nail salon!!! First off the pedicure took about 15 minutes and it was 15 minutes of pain!!!! She cut me 3x enough said! I wont even get into the rest of the pedicure or should I say slaughter job! Im very disappointed. Take my advice on this place and stay far away. I don't know the woman's name but I do not she had a blue shirt on and was working on a sunday. read more

I normally go to D. Lee's on Halsted but needed to get a last minute mani-pedi closer to my house. I called prior to going over to Digits for the first time to see if they had availability for an eyebrow wax and a man-pedi. The woman asked me how long it would take me to get there and then told me to come in.. When I got there, the place was absolutely packed. There had to be 20 occupied chairs and not one available nail tech. I was barely greeted and told to sit down and wait because it would be a few mins. After 5 mins, I asked how long the wait was going to be and the same woman who had answered the phone told me 'a few minutes.' i told her I needed to know how long I would have to wait and she said 5 mins. I waited 20 more mins. The tech who did my nails did a fine job, but she didn't speak a single word of English. And the price was right at $38 for a mani-pedi on a Friday - but those are the only points Digits gets from me. The fact that I had called about a wax didn't seem to matter - no one even seemed to know who was going to do it. Needless to say, I didn't get the wax because I was not about to allow anyone in this unorganized place near my eye brows.. I found the general atmosphere to be very unfriendly. There are so many nails salon's in the city, I definitely won't be going back to this one. Side note, they don't allow you to add gratuity on your credit card - just another inconvenience. read more

The Nail Tech's do such a good job @ Digits. The no-chip really lasts 2 weeks, I keep coming back. read more

I got a very basic manicure--I had my nails evened up and a couple of coats of clear polish-- plus a neck and shoulder massage while my nails were drying. Including a tip, I got out of there for just over $20. That was a couple of weeks ago and they still look great. This is not something I do regularly, but if I decide to do it again, they're my first choice. read more

The BEST no chip I have ever had in my life. I'm getting them redone 4 weeks after. You heard me right! They haven't chipped at all! I'm simply changing colors because my nails grew out. This is my new spot! Reasonably priced and they go the extra mile with massages and scrubs! read more

I have been to Digits a number of times. The last time I went I took my Mom while she was visiting. I thought it would be quick since it was a weekday afternoon. There were only a few other people in there and it still took them over 2 hours to complete our manicures and pedicures. We were in a bit of a hurry but there was nothing we could do. To top it all off after we got our pedicures we both ended up with fungus in our big toes. My Mom is a nail technician herself and said the only reason that happens is that they don't clean the pedicure stations after each person. Needless to say I won't be returning to Digits when there are other places that are cleaner, faster, and more affordable. read more

I used to go to the place across the street until one night I went in at 7:30 PM (they closed at 8 PM) and they said it was too late. I am so glad they turned me down because I crossed the street to Digits and never walked back. Digits has unbelievable service at a great price. The women are always nice and they do a great job. They take their time which means the manicure is always perfect and long lasting. I am horrible with my nails and Digits is the only place that has gotten me a whole week with my nails. Other places last a few days at most. read more

I live right next door to Digits so was hoping that it would be a decent place since the location is so convenient for me. I was not let down!! My manicures last for close to two weeks - no chips! Another great perk is their amazing color selection, one whole wall of Essie, one whole wall of OPI, sometimes there's too many options for me to pick from! And can't beat the price, $32 for mani/pedi Mon-Weds and $38 the rest of the week. Great value! read more

I have only gone to the Digits Nail Salon at their Montrose location. Their Montrose location is brand new and right off of the Montrose brown line stop. I am incredibly finicky about my manicures (I go about once a week) and this is the best place I have ever gone to. They take their time and ask you questions throughout the manicure to make sure you like the shape, color, etc. They also do extra work on your nails, such as cutting the cuticle again if they didn't get it all the first time, and going back and filing again. Probably the cleanest nail salon I have been to. All the equipment is state of the art and comfortable. They have great flatscreen TVs and a great color selection. I will never go anywhere else! read more

With so many nail salons in such a close radius, I'd suggest you find one that's worth it. I asked the nail tech to make changes during the manicure (ie; clean my cuticles, get the polish of my finger) she continued to nod but didn't make adjustments. Then while taking off my own pedi separators, because no one was around to help, I ding my nail. Instead of taking off the polish, I was scolded for helping myself and the tech simply painted over the obvious error blooming on the end of my nail. By this point I didn't even stay seated long enough for her to use the topcoat. Cherry on top. The woman checking us out had told another customer that a men and women's mani/pedi was $56 and yet my fiancee signed receipt for $76. If you have time and money to waste, I'd certainly encourage you to check this place out! read more

The manicures and pedicures are fine, although my technician was rather rough. However, I don't plan to return to this salon due to the poor overall experience. The two flat screens mounted on the wall across from the pedicure stations were tuned to Comedy Central the day I was there. Neither was muted, so patrons were assaulted with commercial breaks every ten minutes. Repeatedly, everyone had to listen to a network promo for a show where the host made jokes about her vagina, doing anal, and other things I'd prefer not to hear about while getting my nails done. I would never bring my daughters to this salon based on that experience alone. I recommend that they start playing DVD's of popular PG-13 rom-coms or playing music as is typical in many other nail salons. Getting your nails done should be a relaxing experience. i don't want to be forced to watch bad movies that failed at the box office interspersed with awful commercials blaring at full volume. read more
