Apparently the previous review got taken down... so I'm going to summarize this as the WORST nail salon I have ever had the misfortune to walk into... DO NOT GO HERE Ambiance, a tiny box of a salon to the right of a large grocery store, with blinds that hang from the ceiling that you have to dodge as you enter. Bathroom is the coat closet with storage and a bucket to use for the low flow toilet, Flashbacks ... reminded me of 3rd rate places in the Philippines. No lie. Quotes on the phone for a dip manicure at $43 when the displayed price is $35. Oh then suddenly its "policy" for a $5 take off add-on and a sandwich baggie with a buffer and emery board ...that you have to buy... for this upcharge of $8.00 When I restate, there is no signage or discussion regarding this.. Tony yells at me that its their prerogative. I hadn't raised my voice this whole time... but you're too clueless to get it huh.. Arguments by "Tony" that metal files are fine to take off remnants of polish instead of scraping and buffing it off like normal salons (look at the damage) mofo. I'm tempted to file a health complaint, dead serious. Mothereffers. So this character continues to use the electric metal file head on my naturalb nails... so i decided I'm done with this garbage service... then the owner Jesse tries to reconcile and say I don't have to take that baggie... then starts trying to put powder on my nails with NO prep and NO basecoat. WTF. No way, shouldn't have even paid for a takeoff ($10) cuz I got damaged nails for this dumb stop in hell . Jessie is always so nice. I have gone here since the daughter was in first grade and she used to come to the shop afterschool to do her homework, she is now a sophomore in college. i was willing to give this place another chance after they completely messed up my first manicure because the pedicure wasn't bad but i had to stop going to this salon because they kept switching up who would do my pedicure. on my most recent visit they had an older woman do it and she kept digging into the sides of my toes to cut them even though i asked her not to cut them short. all of my toes were uneven right before a big vacation and im so upset i even tipped her after! not to mention she had a nasty attitude any time i communicated that i was in pain. i've been dealing with an ingrown toenail for the last 2 weeks because of this. i will NEVER go back here. if you're looking for a legitimate salon with real licensed professionals then go to the Tip Nails literally across the street (they're cheaper too and have better deals. ask for Andy!) read more

I grew up in the area and have been going to nail care since kindergarten. They are so kind, always remember my name, ask about my family, and do a great job. I have tried many nail places in AH and prospect heights and prices were double for the same or worse result. Full set is $30 and they last me (hate to admit it bc I'm bad at getting my nails re-done in a timely manner) up to 5 weeks without loosing a nail. I love coming here! I moved away, but my parents still live nearby, and I come by each time I'm home. Jessie is always welcoming and knows everyone by name. They have a good color selection. They also have a lot of workers who are attentive and you can have several people in the salon at one time. read more

I stopped by here on a whim two days ago after work when I was in the area, and figured I'd just go in and get a no chip done since mine had really grown out. If I could leave negative stars, I would. 1 star is too much for the work they did here. The woman who worked on my nails was really sweet and friendly, but that was the only good thing about this place. My nails were done really quickly, faster than I've ever had it take for a no chip manicure. I left the salon with nail polish on my skin and cuticles and no polish around the edges of some of my nails, they just looked poorly and sloppily done. Not even a full 48 hours later, two of my nails have already chipped which is absolutely ridiculous since it's a NO CHIP manicure and should last a minimum of 10 days. That's $35 completely wasted. I will definitely not be returning and highly suggest you skip this place when there are plenty of places that charge the same amount or less and do a far better job in a much nicer environment. read more

The short version: Don't go here, it's unsanitary and they will rip you off if they can. The long version: I went here to get a manicure and pedicure to prepare for a wedding I was in last weekend. The first thing I noticed upon sitting down in the chair and putting my feet in the foot spa was the empty bucket and sponge sitting on the floor next to me. Sort of gross, but whatever. I had a gift certificate given to me by a friend, so I figured it would be alright. After my pedicure, I sat down at the other nail station to have my hands done. The guy working on me then took said gross sponge and wiped down the basin without any cleaner and then filled it up for the next person. Officially gross. I needed fake nails because I had no nails to speak of, but I had never gotten fake nails in my life so I asked the difference between gel and acrylic. I got a vague answer which basically chalked up to "gel is shinier" so I went with gel because I wanted my nails to look nice, even though gel was more expensive and I'd have to pay about $30 over what my gift certificate was worth. My nails looked good and I tipped the guy $15 and went on my merry way. About 3 hours later, my nails started hurting. And over more time, they started hurting worse and worse. The next day it was unbearable to the point where I couldn't even type. The night before, I assumed it was just my hands adjusting since I had never had a manicure like this before, but the next day I realized that this wasn't normal. I did a little searching and pretty much every source I read stated that a gel (or acrylic) manicure should NOT hurt. And that they should not be using a drill to file down your nails (they did) and that they should not use an air compressor to dust off the shavings afterwards because it introduces bacteria back onto your nails (they did) and that if your nails hurt, the tips were likely too small and their methods were likely very outdated. Awesome. But the very best find? That was when I read about the real differences between gel and acrylic. It was then that I learned that acrylic was a two-part system, where they use a liquid and powder combination to create the nail. Gel is exactly how it sounds.. gel. But since the liquid + powder combination looked like gel to me, I didn't question it. And the technician knew I wouldn't, because he knew I didn't know the difference in the first place. He swindled me in apparently a classic fashion, according to the internet, by using acrylic to create the nail itself, then using the UV coating they use for gel as the finish. For me, it was a learning experience. I now know how nails are supposed to be done, and I'll know if someone tries to screw me again. And I also learned never to go to this place again. They are dishonest, their technique is out-dated and painful, and on top of it all, they only wash the foot bath with a dirty sponge. If I could give this place -5 stars, I would. read more

Got a no chip. Was a little concerned when I walked in and there is a sign on the wall that says if you aren't happy with their work they will fix nails but not give refunds. Never seen this before in a salon. The salon is very dated and small, but she at least was using clean tools. The lady did not completely remove all the prior color off of my nails prior to painting the new color, didn't prep my nails with the alcohol or whatever they use that literally everyone else has done in every no chip I've ever had before and painted a thick sloppy layer on. I was left with huge chunks of top coat under my nails, on my skin and in my cuticles I had to try to peel off later. Overall my nails don't look awful which is why I didn't rank them lower but I anticipate they will chip sooner than usual because it didn't seem like she cared to do it properly. I was not impressed. I frequent this place every 3 weeks and I honestly look forward to the whole experience. Tony and Jesse (owners) always are friendly and chatty. They are the hardest working people and never complain! They put their heart into what they do and make sure you are satisfied. It's clean and priced competitively. I was charged 10 dollars extra. The nail they replaced is throbbing and looks worse than the others (which I did not get done at that place). The experience was unwelcoming. They made me pay for a file which no place has ever made me do (even during covid). I am worried that they beat up my nail so bad it may fall off or crack. Do not go to this place. read more

Had my nails polished with the dipping method. I paid $40 plus tip. Within 2 days the shine was coming off my nails and within 4 days the top layer was peeling off. I am not sure if they use an inferior product or if the girl did not know what she was doing. When I have this done at my usual nail place they look good for 3 weeks. The facade of the salon has a shut down vibe. The blinds were covered over every window. My friend and I arrived at 7:15pm (45 minutes until they close) so they may have started closing down for the night. When we got inside, the entire place was covered in dust. The place looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. While my nails were getting done every other 2 minutes he (my manicurist) would scroll on a shopping site like eBay. When it was time to have the clear nail polish dry he put my hand under a broken down, miniature, travel, fan. After my nails were painted he told me to put it under a machine to dry them. One side was broken and the other had little air. The hand rest was broken so my friend and I both accidentally smudged our fingers. But the polish was good for the price ($13 without tip or tax). Overall, I think the place could become a bigger success if they did a remodel on the design and technology. read more

I was so excited to come in and get my nails done. The lady who did my pedicure was great (thus the two stars) I think she said her name was Annie? She was very nice and did a great job. The terrible experience was the man who did my hands. I really dislike the electrical file, but he insisted on using because I wanted gels. He said that if I didn't use the electrical one, then they would all fall off in a couple of days and chip and it would be my fault. So I relented. It hurt and was annoying and he used multiple times. Then he didn't clean my nails at all. There was black under them (Playing with toddler outside) and there were some bumps and imperfections that didn't bother me too much. I paid the $58 and tipped both nail technicians (him begrudgingly) $5 each. The next day one of my nails already chipped. The day after that, several nails chipped. Several days later and all nails (on my hand) are chipped and 3 have completely come off. This is a disaster. I have a toddler and activities, I have no time or babysitter to watch her while I go get my nails done. This is a monthly treat for me and very expensive, I would have hoped it would have lasted at least two weeks. I am very disappointed. I am a nail shop hopper, I like to try a different nail salon every month, it's my one treat and this has been a very sad experience for me. Be weary. read more

I have been going to Nail Care for close to fifteen years! Never had a bad experience. Even when they are busy, Jessie manages to squeeze me in! The owners Jessie and Tony have always done my nails, and my daughters. Mai gives the best pedicure around! I've always worn gel or acrylic nails, but for the last few months have done the "no chip" and I am so glad I did. I can go three weeks between manicures. Everyone there is a "regular" , I always run into someone I know there. While the owners Jessie and Tony are always in demand, everyone else is just as good! Easy to get to, and LOTS of parking, they are in the strip mall across from Hersey high school, just south of Ultra Foods. While they do take walk ins, I recommend an appointment, as it can get really busy and you may have to wait. Especially now, since it is wedding and Prom season. read more

I went to get my nails done a week ago today and was very unsatisfied with both my nails and the service. The guy who did my nails was rude and barely spent time or energy on my nails. By Sunday about half of my nails had either broken or chipped...after I had just gotten a no chip manicure. So I went back on Tuesday and told them how unhappy I was with my nails. They said only one of my nails chipped and the rest weren't their fault because it was my actual nail that broke, not the paint on the nail. Dumb. If they would have spent more time filing my nails, my nails would not have broken in the first place!! Their fault. I went in there wanting my money back, but then read a sign that there are absolutely no refunds. Dumb. So they fixed my one nail and by that I mean they filed down my nail and put the wrong shade of nail polish on it. Awesome. Then they put an extra top coat on the rest of my nails which peeled off two days later. By Friday my nails looked so bad I had to get them redone. Don't go there and waste your money or time!
