I was a customer in the salon today and feel compelled to leave this review after witnessing an incredibly uncomfortable and unprofessional interaction between staff and another customer. After the customer had already paid and was on their way out, a staff member loudly shouted "NO TIP?" across the salon. It completely stopped the room. The customer explained they had no cash and there was no option to add a tip on the receipt, yet the staff member continued to show visible frustration. This exchange happened in front of multiple customers and was extremely awkward to witness. Regardless of anyone's feelings about tipping, publicly calling out a paying customer like that is unacceptable. Tips are not an entitlement, and confronting someone in that manner is disrespectful and unprofessional. What made it worse was seeing the staff's attitude immediately change once the customer handed over additional money -- suddenly everything was fine again. As someone sitting there watching this unfold, it left a very bad impression. A salon should be a relaxing environment, not one where customers are shamed or pressured. I won't be returning, and I'd encourage others to consider places that treat their customers with basic respect. read more

I'm astonished with the service I received today. I went in for a no chip mani and pedi. When I went to pay it was 100$ even. The lady took my card to the register and came back with the receipt with just a signature line. Since there was no spot for a tip on the receipt, and I had no cash on me, I thanked them for the service and began walking out the door. To my surprise, the lady (who appeared to be VERY frustrated when I was leaving) shouted "NO TIP?". I was already halfway out the door at this point. I said "excuse me?" which only caused more frustration on both of our ends. I explained to her that I had no cash, and there was no line for a tip. Regardless of all of this, there should be no reason to feel entitled to a tip, especially with the prices they are charging. To be clear, they never even asked for a tip when they charged my card. But to shout across the salon with other customers in there, and demand a tip, is beyond unprofessional. Safe to say I will not be returning. And yes, they got an extra pity 20$ out of me. Suddenly their attitude changed and they were back to being pleasant again. My mom and I came in for a regular pedicure and it was great! The staff ladies were friendly and efficient. The experience was relaxing and we enjoyed the different scrubs and lotions as well. We didn't feel rushed to leave and could enjoy the massage chairs while our toes dried. Will definitely be coming back! read more

I went to get Gel X and a no chip pedicure and they basically just cut down my nails and painted them and while getting my Gel X I placed my handbag on the table next to me and when another nail tech name sue came to the table to use it, she place my handbag on the floor next to me. read more

Eliie was absolutely amazing! I came to the shop in hopes that they would be able to take me in with no appointment to fix nails done by another shop that were horrendous. I do not recommend trying this as I am sure it's a case by case thing. She was appalled by the nails I had and felt up to the challenge of fixing them explaining everything she would have to do in order to make it right. I Came in as a walk in around 6:30pm on a Wednesday and the salon happily took me on for a no chip mani and pedi. That's where the positive review ends. For a $60 mani/pedi I expect at least a basic foot massage, which I did not get. I also expect nail professionals to "paint within the lines" and not be disgruntled when I asked them to "fix" my painted cuticles and painted sided of my toes. I also expect my nail technician not to take constant (at least 5) breaks to be on Facebook messenger WHILE doing my nails and not even attempt to hide it from me. I am paying you for a service, don't act like I am interrupting your Facebook time. Further, the tools uses looked badly past their usable time as some had visible rust on the handles, looked completely unsanitary and were not taken out of a sanitation fluid/bin. Update: The next morning I woke up with small bumps on one of my fingers and am now worried it may be some sort of an infection. Totally Gross!! Needless to say I will NEVER be back. read more

I see a lot of negative reviews calling the place grungy and dirty, and personally i did not have that experience. its a small place, and it looks like a classic family-owned nail salon. nothing special, but nothing stood out to me as being dirty or violating code. i came in for a last-minute no-chip manicure ($35) and they took me gladly. the lady was meticulous, and though the tools were probably not as sanitary as they shouldve been, they were not rusting or visibly old like another reviewer said. she did use antiseptic spray on my hands after cleaning my cuticles, and used alcohol to wipe my nail beds twice. she was friendly but focused on her work, which i appreciated. as you can see, she did a good job on my manicure even though it was a very basic task. I tend to judge places on their ability to do the basics well. she gave me a shoulder, neck, and forearm/hand massage, which were nice but honestly a little rough. the place is really nothing special, and i wouldnt go out of my way to go here. but they are friendly, clean enough, and do fine manicures. read more

I'm not sure if the technician I had was part of my awful experience here but this place is absolutely awful. I wanted to save myself time by going to a nail salon closer to my house as I usually go to Lee's nail salon 2 in Des Plaines. I made a huge mistake coming here. This was the worst pedicure I've ever gotten. She barely cleaned my nails and filed them. Ambiance in the salon is not relaxing at all. It's super dirty and just grungy looking. I came for my sister's wedding and because so many people have raved about this place. I'm hoping this was just a one-time experience, but the woman didn't do ANYTHING with my cuticles. Not even push them back! Of course I wasn't really paying attention because I was chatting with my sister, but I shouldn't have to watch to make sure my cuticles are cleaned up. That's the main reason I get manicures; I mean, I can polish my nails on my own. Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed. The nice polish job was overshadowed by how horrible my cuticles looked. I had been going to Choice Nails for the past 2 years. There was one manicurist(sp) in particular that I really liked, so she always did my nails. She was wonderful! Very quick and precise. My mani would last a week. All of a sudden they had a huge change of staff and my favorite was gone. I have had a few bad experiences since. A very young girl did my pedi and she had to go back over my toes with remover because she had polish all over my skin. I'm very sad to say that I have to find a new place. read more

I was in Choice Nails 2 weeks ago. I noticed changes again around the shop and with the staff. I asked one of the nail techs if the shop was under new management since 1 month ago. She responded, "yes." The pedicure I received 2 weeks ago is the best I've received in a long time. The nail technician told me they changed the overhead lighting. They took out the chandelier inside the front door, and they plan to bring in all new pedicure chairs. The new chairs will have a hygienic backing on them. I think that's a great idea, especially for the summer time when flesh tends to stick to vinyl material. If you had a bad experience in the last few months, I encourage you to go back again under the new owners. read more

I have been going here for over 10 years. Ownership changed at some point in the last year and I have tried the new people twice and after last night I am done. New ownership tech cut my skin twice and now last night my no chip mani and regular pedi cost $60. Mon-Thurs used to be regular mani + pedi for $27 and then they would charge you extra for a no chip. $60? No thanks it isn't that nice of a place. btw.. the following review is by a male...I had a manicure/pedicure here at the request of my fiancee. We are doing an engagement photo shoot and the photographer also requested my nails look nice. This was my first time doing this ever....and unfortunately it will be my last. I have been cutting my own nails for years and filing at home and I think I have been doing a good job. I didn't really see the difference from what I do at home. And I also thought that I wasted an hour of my day. Also the skin below my nail has been peeling since I have been there. Personally I'll just stick to my regimen at home. Also, I was looking to see how clean the instruments are, I didn't feel that it was the cleanest place when I looked over at the instruments they were using. I'm a physician and I'm a little OCD about hygiene I guess. They are cheap and have plenty of parking. You need an appointment but they take walk-ins. If can spend a little more money somewhere else I would try that out. Also I think I got overcharged, the prices aren't listed anywhere, I think they just made up the price. The staff usually talks in another language. Anyway this is my opinion. I didn't have a good experience and I won't be back. My fiancee however likes the work they do there. I came here for my first manicure ever since my mother literally dropped me off and forced me to get one since I had just gotten engaged. Apparently people look at your hands when that happens...? I also came back for my wedding and my mom is a regular here. So, there are all these lovely, sweet Asian women working there. They did a fantastic job! The woman who did mine for my wedding really took her time in making sure it was perfect since she knew how important an event this was for me. I love how they don't skimp on the massaging and my skin felt soft/luxurious/pampered afterwards. I got bright red on my toes and a French manicure on my hands. I like that they didn't put on a ton of polish but enough to coat the nails. This also helped with the drying process. You can tell they really care about what doing a good job. I ended up overtipping the woman who did mine because of all the painstaking care she took. It was very reasonably priced too. Highly recommend! read more

I waited almost 40 minutes in between my pedi and mani. My girls did an entire pedicure in between. They will always say they have appointments to get you in the door -- but then they move people ahead once you're in the chair. Don't even try to get an appointment with your girlfriends -- more than 1 and they won't make any effort to do you at the same time. Sloppy all around. Not a place to spend your hard earned money. Manicure was poor (barely any trimming of cuticles, filing left nails jagged and uneven). Application of polish was worse. Had to ask a couple times to paint the entire nail (all the way to the outsides). Then there was polish all on my skin around nails. It was bad. I asked a few times to clean up the polish off my skin and she didn't seem to understand it know how to remove it. Eventually I asked for all polish to be removed and I left without a mani.
