Since moving to Indianapolis in 2015 I have gotten my nails done at Nail Bar. I absolutely love the owners & team. Their customer service is second to none. They're personable & kind & they treat their patrons with respect which forms genuine connections. The establishment is ALWAYS clean & presentable. I went for a pedicure at the nail bar. I was surprised at how busy it was. When I arrived and checked in, the owner this man pointed to me where to go vs walking me over. From there the bowl I was sat at did not look clean as well as he just walked away. I sat there waited 10mins before anyone came over and offered me anything or to even turn the water on. Unfortunately shortly after a women of another race came in and he attended to her and made sure she was comfortable.... The drinks that come were great. So I said, why not give them a try. From the time I/we stepped foot inside, we were treated like their only customers. The owner was very friendly and helpful. I shared a concern regarding my past experience with getting gel on my nails and he assured me that they would take good care of me. And that, they did! Kayla, we did my gel manicure was very attentive, gentle, thorough, patient and friendly. Throughout the process, she asked me was I okay and how my nails were feeling. She gets a star in my book. Out of all the staff I/we came in contact with, everyone, but one, was on their A game. One tech failed to thoroughly clean up under & around my boyfriend's nails during his manicure. Once brought to her attention, she cleaned under & around his nails. Both nail techs that provided my/our pedicures were very attentive and thorough; especially the tech who did my boyfriend's pedicure. She went above and beyond making sure his feet was ready for our vacation and thereafter. He even said himself that he had never had a pedicure like that before. Had a guy do my pedicure today - he clipped my cuticles back so far my toes were bleeding and instead of acknowledging it, he kept wiping blood away as if I wouldn't notice. I'm hurt badly. Went in, my toes are bleeding. My hands are throbbing. I was honestly disappointed by the quality of my nails when they were finished, but didn't say anything. They looked absolutely not how I wanted them, but on top of it all I am cut all over my toes and my finger fingers. When I called on the phone, the owner seemed very sorry. And told me to come in and fix them, but you can't come and work on nails that are openly cut and actively bleeding. I walked in and had my mom help me to advocate for myself for a refund and they were very against it. They proceeded to call my mom name such as Karen and Sheila. They however, did take responsibility for if I get an infection which if I do they told me to go to the hospital and get antibiotic. Which I don't think I should be receiving advice from someone who's not qualified to do so. I did end up getting my full refund, but after a long conversation of how it wasn't just how my nails looked not how I wanted, but how I was actively bleeding on both of my feet and both of my hands. I will include pictures of my nails to show you all the spots that they cut me as well as the horrible job that they did in general for my acrylics. The service in total was $183. And for almost $200 I absolutely should not have walked out looking like this. I'm appalled of how I was treated when I tried to speak up about it. But also the fact that names were being called TO US. Very unprofessional. As we were leaving, they told us not to come back and obviously I would never ever step foot into a place or recommend anyone to ever come to this place. And the owner was the one who disrespected a name called my mom calling her a Karen and Sheila. We have video of the interaction that follows with name-calling from the OWNER. Today we went on a coupled outing to the nail bar. It was my hubby's first time getting a pedi. He was over the moon with how good his feet looked and felt afterwards. Ambivalence! Make an appointment despite what the person on the phone says. Called ahead and was told I didn't need to make an appointment, come now. When I showed up I had an hour wait. Since I made the drive, I patiently waited in my car. When I returned 55 minutes later I was promptly seated but waited another 15 minutes. My two sisters took me out for pampering as I am nearing the end of my pregnancy for delivery. We had a ton of fun. My sisters and I received luxury pedis with gel added, and then dip manicures. I have been to the Nail Bar for gel manicures but this was my 1st deluxe pedicure which included exfoliating, mask, and leg & foot massage. They have several scent options-- I went with the lavender. I needed to relax. I loved the warm towels wrapped around my legs and feet. I had the massage chair going while I sipped on an adult beverages. I felt like I had new feet.....smooth. I was very happy with the customer service. The manager is very friendly. I called for an appointment but the Nail Bar welcomes walk ins. Both my sister and I came here to get our bridal nails done, so you know we trust them. We even brought our mom here for mother's say and they had lovely snacks set out as well as champagne. We had a great time. They are always quick to offer you a beverage which is a great touch. I will say the quality of pedicure can vary widely from employee to employee but I've had good luck with solid service. The Nail Bar is located on 96th just east of 69 on the Northeast side. Very large salon great for large parties. They have hundreds of colors to pick from, providing gel , dips and elaborate designs if that's your vib you can also pick from sevearal different pedicure treatments. The volcano is my favorite comes with a hot stone massage and paraffin wax treatment. Ok there's a lot to unpack here. The two stars on this review are only for the nail tech who did my pedicure and gel manicure (her name is Chi she does and amazing job). A week ago I went here for a gel manicure with chi, all was well until a few days later both of my thumbs were without the polish that supposedly lasts 2 weeks. When I went in two days ago I went to get those two nails fixed and a pedicure (by chi of course) and all was well yet again until I was done and it was time to pay. They said I owed them $62 for just a damn pedicure. When I asked the front desk guy to break it down for me he said "deluxe pedicure is $42, then plus $15 for gel, and $5 for French tip." I've been going to this nail salons for 5 years!! I've never paid such an amount for a pedicure. Gel was always $5 more and I never knew they charged extra for French tip until a month ago but I was fine with that. +$15 for gel on a pedicure is way more than the up charge on a gel manicure. Maybe they only charged me so much extra because I complained but either way, the service doesn't justify the prices. %85 of the staff are egregiously bad at doing nails while about 5 of the employees actually know what they're doing. If you want your nails done here, ask for Trish, Chi, or Bumblebee, these are the only 3 I've had that haven't disappointed. Though they're good, expect to pay more than what the prices are listed. One more thing I'd like to add, there's a little bit of racism in this nail salon. I've noticed slowly over the years they get less and less of black/poc customers. The reason being, they don't take their time with us anymore. They don't offer us wine or ask if we'd like something to drink, they don't try to have conversation with us and tend to serve the white customers first even though we may have arrived well before them. I'm only mentioning this because it may be a dealbreaker for some future or already loyal customers. read more
