He is autistic and nonverbal, and sensory experiences can be very challenging for him. The technician was absolutely incredible. She was so gentle, patient, and intuitive. Before doing anything, she would show him first: she put lotion on her own arm and let him touch it, then slowly introduced it to him. She tested the temperature of the warm towel on his wrist so he could feel it safely before wrapping his legs with it. She narrated each step in such a calm and reassuring way. She never rushed him and followed his comfort level the entire time. Because of her approach, he was able to stay calm and relaxed throughout the experience, which is a huge milestone for us.
