Super tasty, simple comfort food. The style is authentic, and the music is Irie. I highly recommend the chicken curry.

Had a fantastic experience eating in this historic Worcester Lunch Car No. 835 - one of the last…read moreones to be made!! The diner is clean, food is delicious, and staff warm up quick and are fun to chat to!! But the homemade pie - omg the pie!! I had a huge piece of their cherry pie and it was TO. DIE. FOR!!! Passed by on my way to another town but the sign outside is what caught my eye saying "SUPPORT LOCAL" so you know I had to turn around!! And it was time to eat anyway. I went the whole nine yards for my experience and sat at the counter, bantering with the staff while watching them prepare food - was such a fun lunch!! I ordered their Fish Sandwich lunch special and a cup of chowda- all excellent! The bread on the sandwich was soft and so flavorful with a decent piece of fried fish - perfect ratio of breading to fish. That cherry pie was incredible - homemade with a soft, flaky crust - and the cherry filling was silky and had a perfect tart sweetness!! Topped with some whip cream - it was heaven! Took me 2 days to eat it all lol! The dining car is very cozy and retro fun! There is counter seating as well as booths. And the counter seating overlooks the grill and kitchen so you have built in entertainment! Parking is street parking in a charming little town - great for walking off your food. Will definitely be back next time I'm out that way! Thanks for an awesome lunch!

Everything was perfect. A blast from the past, with everything expected in an old dining car.read more

You would never expect such a amazing restaurant to be located inside a hotel... But it is!…read more We stayed at the Holiday Inn Club Vacation Mt. Ascutney for a week and decided to have a low-key night and have dinner at the onsite restaurant, The Maple Kitchen. It was a slow Sunday night and no reservations needed. The restaurant only had the bar tender manning the bar and the tables. He was very nice but the wait was long... luckily we were in vacation mode so we didn't mind the wait. While we were waiting for the food, we were enjoying the Moscow Mule made by the bartender. He poured all his drinks to the rim, it was great! They only had 2 things on tap: Switchback ale and Harpoon hard cider, but they were solid brews. It took about 45 minutes before our entrees were served and we started to think this may be a mistake. Boy were we wrong in the best way. The lobster bisque dip came with 2 rolls of warm bread already buttered on the outside...soft center with the creamy dip spread over it was so scrumptious. The lamb chop was cooked to perfection and had a orzo chickpea side that can be a main dish in itself. The duck was cooked with crispy skin on, very tender and also came with a delicious rice pilaf. We also had the half chicken breast dish which was perfectly seasoned, juicy! Came with a mushroom and spinach stir fry and mashed potatoes was more like creamy scalloped potato. We were completely stuffed but wanted to try a dessert because the food was just amazing. We shared a raspberry white chocolate cheesecake that did not make it in my photo because we finished it so quickly. Definitely come here, you will not be disappointed.

First of all the bar was not stocked, the dirty martini was so dirty it needed a shower. Basic items like ice tea and lemonade were unavailable. Bud Light was not in stock either. It was a quiet Friday night, about at 20% capacity, service was slow. The meal took about 45 minutes to service. Although flavorful the lamb chops were anorexic. The short ribs, were a little on tough side, and lacked flavor, the portion size more consistent with a small plate menu than entree. Good restaurants are in demand in this area; however, this was another missed opportunity.

The Harpoon Brewery in Windsor, Vermont is famous for its brews, but I really like their menu…read more Simply put, it is comfort food and it is good. Most of the menu items here are not like a gourmet Vermont experience. Instead, they are simply, darn flippin' good! Menu items here are simple and breezy. Get the baked potato with pulled pork, cheddar, bacon, chives and sour cream. If I made the same dish, as easy as it seems, it would definitely not turn out as delicious. With this glorious baked potato, there was a white, shredded cheese. I am not used to this at all because usually you usually get orange cheddar cheese on a potato, but this is Vermont. People new to the region - like me - notice simple touches like white cheddar cheese and it's little things like that that really make a difference in having an authentic New England experience. And now onto the Hebrew National Franks: they are on New England rolls. I didn't know what those were until I ordered them, but this makes a total difference. They are soft and heated and have a shiny, buttery finish. On their winter menu, I have also tried the Space Cake beer fried chicken sandwich. I thought it might be a sweet, fried, hot honey kind of chicken sammie, but I don't think that option is on their menu yet. The fried chicken coating was good. This Space Cake sandwich came with sweet potato waffle fries. Oh my goodness! Definitely get these. Get them as an appetizer. Take them home with you. Whatever. You need them. They're delicious. This was all on their winter menu. On their summer menu, I enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich with steakhouse fries. Thoroughly fabulous. We also enjoyed the butternut squash salad with fresh cranberries from their summer menu. The lettuce was so darn fresh. It really makes a difference in the flavors and the whole experience here. Now onto the beers: there are so many draughts to choose from! Aside from a suite of brewed-on-site Harpoon beers, you can also get at least 3 UFO hefeweizen brews and 3 Clown Shoes beers. The UFO wheat beers are a favorite here: I had White (orange and coriander), Maine Blueberry and Strawberry Lemonade Shandy The Clown Shoes beers seem popular here, but were too intense for me. The Vodka Whips - inspired by the beloved Maryland Orange Crush drinks - are good. I thought was ordering a Cardi B Whip Shot, so when I got it, I realized these two drinks are not the same. Vodka Whips vs. Whip Shots: who knew. Camp Wannamango by Harpoon is a not-to-miss. I also liked the Maple Bourbon Barrel-aged Mountain Ale. Not a fan of any of the IPA's anywhere, including here, unless they are doubles. The Harpoon Cider is tasty. The Dunkin' beers are fabulous branding and interesting. Some I like ... while others are - again - just not watered-down enough for me. I hope someone is laughing at what a lightweight I am when it comes to sturdy beers.
