Absolutely mind blown. I have made numerous ski trips this way and always seen this place tucked away in the corner of my eye when approaching the intersection. No cell service so couldn't look up anything prior to entering. Lovely little diner, please remember to shut the door as you enter as it doesn't close. I made my way to the counter and started really looking at everything around the place. Personally could have kept all the political stuff out but I was here for food. Liked all the books off the side as well as the dinosaur toys. The message that is placed in front of you tell a good story, and they're not wrong one bit. Enjoy the company around you. I was blown away with the size of the blueberry pancake, and I was warned. Never have I taken a pancake to go because I didn't finish it. I had some corn beef hash too so that filled me up a bit, but this thing is massive! Definitely could've taken it down in my college days. I will have to come back to try and defeat it again. Anyways, I did enjoy my corn beef hash too, very potato driven. All and all, happy I finally popped in. Food was great, but very expensive. We spent more on a regular (but very tasty) breakfast than we do on a hearty steak dinner many other places. We thought about a piece of pie, but at $10.00 a slice we decided not to splurge. The decor was very quirky, but fun, and the cook was singing steadily in the kitchen, so I guess the entertainment was part of the bill, lol. Came here after reading the positive reviews from others listed on Yelp. Tried my hardest to like this place but it just wasn't for me. The diner is very small inside and decorated with political extremism. I thought the set up was funny, unique, and provided great conversation topics. However, the food is what made me dislike the diner. First off, the waitress dipped her hand in the coffee and didn't replace it with a new one. Was given attitude after asking for a new coffee. Then after that, the coffee ended up being the worst tasting diner coffee I've ever had (it was $6 as well!!!). I ordered the world domination breakfast and was disappointed. Our drive from CT to Quebec had us traveling through Vermont during lunch and on the lookout for a spot that offers vegan food. We found the Hartland diner which satisfied both my vegan and my husband's non vegan palette. The diner is tiny and unique. The booths were packed a little before noon already so we sat at the stools at the counter. The decor is eclectic with a strong liberal edge. For example I sat next to a cardboard cut out of Bernie Sanders with a VOTE necklace adorning the neck of the cutout. The menu is thick with the first have offering meat and dairy options and the later half providing the same options just in vegan form. There are A LOT of options! And the portions are GENEROUS! I had the cornbread which I would have again and again. It was so satisfying and filled with real corn kernels to provide a real corn taste. I then had a breakfast burrito with tofu scramble, avocado and hash browns. The burrito was heavy handed with hash browns but it was a simple fix as I just removed what I didn't want. The burrito was filling and delicious. I also liked the coffee ( they only have whole or oat milk). My husband had one pancake which was gigantic! It was hanging off the plate! The maple syrup was light and not too sweet. He also had a breakfast taco with bacon, eggs and hash (which was again loaded with extra hash he had to remove). This was another filling dish. Disappointed. We stopped in with our 10-year-old while traveling and he ordered for himself to be independent and grown up chocolate chip pancakes. We were shocked by the bill and place that is suppose to be friendly and welcoming would take advantage of a child to make some extra money . We ordered what we thought was a normal pancake order, only to be charged $40 for giant pancakes. Had our server mentioned the size and price we never would have ordered three. It felt like we were set up to spend far more than expected. The pancakes themselves were ok, but the lack of communication left a bad taste in our mouths. A haven in eastern Vermont! My wife and I were driving south from Burlington, passing thru the mountains, and decided we needed some food. We stopped here at this town just as it was the exit we were at. We found this place and had amazing meal! The eggs were incredibly fresh and the bacon incredibly crispy! We also had delicious, fluffy pancakes with the protein. Shameful to admit, we finished with 2 slices of their homemade pie - peach and peach blueberry. Both were fantastic and so good. Used to come here years ago and it was a cute diner with a lot of character. It's definitely done a 180. Used to be a wait to get in, no wait this time, almost empty on a Sunday morning and it's obvious why. Not kid friendly at all. No kids menu, couldn't get something simple like an egg and cheese wrap. Had to order a $20+ wrap and ask for 2/3 of the ingredients be left out. Also couldn't change the cheese from cheddar to american, even though american is on the menu for other meals. Smart on their part, still have to pay $20+ for a $5 meal. On top of that, signs that say "Fuck" on the walls. Kids should not ask why is the F word is on the walls and why everyone is so angry. Obnoxiously over the top political. Waitresses seemed put out by having customers. Didn't come back to the table once except to toss the bill on the table and walk away. No how was everything? Do you need anything? Do you need any boxes? Was hoping the food would make up for the rest but it was mediocre at best with NYC prices. $6.50 for a coffee?! Corned beef and hash was 99% potatoes. If you order sourdough toast you get both toast an as bread, the bottom half was toasted, the top wasn't. Must have been too tall for the toaster. Very overpriced, food is underwhelming, staff is miserable and politics shoved down your throat... Pass on this one for sure. read more

I made the mistake of stopping here while traveling to visit my family in Randolph. I ordered the "diner classic", which was laughably expensive. The "jumbo" eggs were as yellow yolked as can be, which tells me they're not fresh, they're eggs sourced from aging hens. The patties were like cardboard and the links tasted like day old jimmie deans. Cozy dinner near the Killington ski resort. It's tucked away in a town, and seemed filled mostly with locals. It's well-decorated and feels home-y. Slider ($11) - a bit smaller than I expected since their other pancakes are ginormous. But a filling breakfast nonetheless. Came with an egg and sausage sandwiched between two pancakes. My original post got deleted for some unknown reason. I went to this diner on Saturday for breakfast because they opened early for the Vermont 100 racers. I had a spinach, sausage, and cheddar omelet which was good, but a bit greasy on the outside. My brother-in-law had the French Toast which he said was good, it certainly looked good. My sister was happy that they had gluten free bread, and she enjoyed it with her hashbrowns, sausage and eggs. I found the coffee a bit strong and needed to use extra cream and sugar. I was disappointed that we were not offered more coffee, especially given the price. The waitress was nice and helpful. Were it just the food I would have given 4 stars, but the atmosphere to me was off putting. When I go to a restaurant I am looking for good food and service, not the owner's political opinions, hence 2 stars. read more

This place is my all time favorite of ANY restaurant anywhere! As a tree hugging, science based, democratic/socialist liberal, female bi-sexual vegan - this place hits every possible thing I could ever dream of to make my visit great! The food is locally sourced and the chef is an artist, the choices are varied, with new items added regularly. And best of all for me, there is an entire vegan menu with EVERYTHING you could ever imagine, and then some! And no cross contamination. Best for my omnivore friends - the regular menu is just as good and varied and they rave about the food! I loved walking in to see a bunch of wonderful political and theatre and down-home ... STUFF. I loved being greeted by a couple of seriously normal-looking but clearly loving-every-minute people running the counter. I loved the other customers, some of whom were clearly also from other places, some local, and one even great friends with the women behind the counter. There was discussion. There was jocularity. There was joy. Oh, and my omelette was great. They only serve breakfast, but they do a very nice job of it. You won't miss dinner. Not a cheap place, but a very good value, imho. There is a decent amount of parking as well and some chairs outside if you wanted to eat outside once you get your order. I tried the flight for $30. The most expensive terrible breakfast I've ever had. The steak was inedible, one sausage link on the sausage - strange taste. The Irish was meh.
