The Harpoon Brewery in Windsor, Vermont is famous for its brews, but I really like their menu. Simply put, it is comfort food and it is good. Most of the menu items here are not like a gourmet Vermont experience. Instead, they are simply, darn flippin' good! Menu items here are simple and breezy. Get the baked potato with pulled pork, cheddar, bacon, chives and sour cream. If I made the same dish, as easy as it seems, it would definitely not turn out as delicious. With this glorious baked potato, there was a white, shredded cheese. I am not used to this at all because usually you usually get orange cheddar cheese on a potato, but this is Vermont. People new to the region - like me - notice simple touches like white cheddar cheese and it's little things like that that really make a difference in having an authentic New England experience. And now onto the Hebrew National Franks: they are on New England rolls. I didn't know what those were until I ordered them, but this makes a total difference. They are soft and heated and have a shiny, buttery finish. On their winter menu, I have also tried the Space Cake beer fried chicken sandwich. I thought it might be a sweet, fried, hot honey kind of chicken sammie, but I don't think that option is on their menu yet. The fried chicken coating was good. This Space Cake sandwich came with sweet potato waffle fries. Oh my goodness! Definitely get these. Get them as an appetizer. Take them home with you. Whatever. You need them. They're delicious. This was all on their winter menu. On their summer menu, I enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich with steakhouse fries. Thoroughly fabulous. We also enjoyed the butternut squash salad with fresh cranberries from their summer menu. The lettuce was so darn fresh. It really makes a difference in the flavors and the whole experience here. Now onto the beers: there are so many draughts to choose from! Aside from a suite of brewed-on-site Harpoon beers, you can also get at least 3 UFO hefeweizen brews and 3 Clown Shoes beers. The UFO wheat beers are a favorite here: I had White (orange and coriander), Maine Blueberry and Strawberry Lemonade Shandy The Clown Shoes beers seem popular here, but were too intense for me. The Vodka Whips - inspired by the beloved Maryland Orange Crush drinks - are good. I thought was ordering a Cardi B Whip Shot, so when I got it, I realized these two drinks are not the same. Vodka Whips vs. Whip Shots: who knew. Camp Wannamango by Harpoon is a not-to-miss. I also liked the Maple Bourbon Barrel-aged Mountain Ale. Not a fan of any of the IPA's anywhere, including here, unless they are doubles. The Harpoon Cider is tasty. The Dunkin' beers are fabulous branding and interesting. Some I like ... while others are - again - just not watered-down enough for me. I hope someone is laughing at what a lightweight I am when it comes to sturdy beers. A party of 6 of us came here mid afternoon for some lunch and drinks. They were VERY busy but after about 30-45 minutes, they were able to seat up outside (the temperature was tolerable). In the mean time, we had gotten some beer and played cornhole. After we were seated, we managed to order food. It did take a while to get to us but they all tasted fine. Nothing amazing but not bad. Harpoon's tap room ended up being my afternoon office. I arrived here at around 1:00 and stayed through my afternoon Zoom calls, departing at around 5:00. Finally made it here and so glad we did. Inside and outdoor dining. Great service. Lawn games and play set for kids. Allows dogs in the outside and provides water bowls for your canine companions. They offer beer flights. We had the fish and chips and they were amazing. I highly recommend them. Easily shared by 2. I had the burrito bowl w pork. I was disappointed in the pork. I was thinking it would be a marinated pork but it ended up being pulled BBQ pork. That flavor did not go w a traditional burrito bowl. I would recommend the chicken added. One of the perfect apres ski and apres snowmobile places in the middle Connecticut Valley of New Hampshire and Vermont is not in a ski area itself but just down the intersection of I-89 and I-91 in Windsor VT. An awesome spot to relax, chat with friends, drink excellent brews, and savor some excellent cuisine. That is at the Harpoon Brewery. Returning home after a great ski day, we stopped at Harpoon to savor its offerings. During Winter, the fire pit outside is definitely on. And nearby the pit, six heated Harpoon Huts that sit six people each, are available by reservation, as well as the large, twelve-person Catamount Cabin. All are heated, supplied with Bluetooth speakers, service call buttons and card games. Still, there is plenty of indoor seating and reservations are always accepted. We walked in and had no problem seating. Another reason to patronize Harpoon Brewery is that it is employee owned. Every full-time employee at Harpoon (which includes their Massachusetts headquarters and brewery site) is vested with an increasing number of shares as the company repays the loan they acquired in 2014 to allow this to happen. As a result, there is ample motivation for employees to be at their best, which shows in the service, brew quality and food preparation. Another salient reason: $1 per pint of Harpoon IPA is donated to the Vermont African American Heritage Trail. One awesome reason to go there. We came over and tried and shared glasses of Imperial IPA, Catamount IPA, Space Cake IPA, and a guava IPA. All were absolutely superb. For main courses, our party flavored their B-Y-O cheeseburger with Cabot Cheese AND Caramelized onions. Yummmmmm. We also tried their Smoke Pork Cuban, a Cuban-infused delicacy on stirato bread. This was absolutely delicious. And of course, their pulled pork on a Portuguese roll. And one more ordered the Vermont Salad. Just the Cabot Cheese and walnuts on it made it succulent. Maybe it was a bad day for the kitchen. 50 minutes for two salads with grilled chicken seemed a bit too long of a wait for me. Our server told us we had to understand because we got a pretzel appetizer, which was made fresh that day, and salads. That's why it took so long. Got a strawberry salad. A few bites in and there were no strawberries left. Our sever told us they usually go too light on the strawberries when she asked how it was. In the end , she took our 2 drinks off our tab which was nice. And... the pretzel was delicious. But, we can't say we will be running back here for food any time in the near future! We decided to sit outside on the patio since it was a gorgeous day. I absolutely loved the weather and view! The patio was the perfect spot to enjoy a beer. I ordered the UFO Maine Blueberry, hubby ordered the UFO White - both were refreshing and favorites of ours. We shared an order of pretzel bites and the Buffalo sauced chicken tenders. The pretzel bites were deep fried and super delicious. Fantastic dipped in the beer cheese! You can't go wrong with Buffalo sauced chicken tenders. They had a nice Buffalo flavor and good spice level. The chicken tenders were juicy and crispy. I really enjoyed the Jonas sauce, sweet and spicy. The service was friendly and fast, too. We had visited a museum in nearby Windsor, VT and it was lunchtime. We had debated visiting Artisan Park anyway, so we drove up to begin the visit at this restaurant. The collection of shops and restaurants is just down a hill from the highway. The signage is a bit confusing and there seemed to be more than one brewery (?). We parked near what we thought was the restaurant, but found the place closed. Then we drove across a couple of small parking lots and found the right place. You walk around the patio to enter the building. Then you double back along a short glassed hallway to the large dining area / bar. The patrons when we ate here (on a weekday for lunch) seemed about equally divided between the 4-person tables and seats at the long bar. I'm not sure how many were here just for beers, but we just wanted food. I think we both got sandwiches - I don't recall specifically what I got but I think it was okay. Neither of us had a beer. There was nothing to dislike about the place, but I don't recall much about the meal even though it was 3 weeks ago. During our stay in Vermont in the summer, we visited Harpoon Brewery for some beer tasting. We had a reservation, which was required at that time, no matter if it was during peak or off-peak hours. We were greeted warmly, and taken to our seat right away. We could see the brewery behind the store, and it would have been really cool to get a tour of the place. But, due to the pandemic, they were not offering tour at that time. They offer flight of beer here, and you get to choose four different kinds of beer. They come in 6 oz glasses, plased on the tray in a shape of harpoon. Since it is not recommend to consume alcohol in empty stomach, and we were there for lunch anyways, we ordered some hearty dishes. I went with a BYO Burger that comes with chips, but substituted Fries for another $2. It was a good burger, not great, but good. My hubby went with Texas-Style Brisket Sandwich. He wasn't feeling the side of chips either, so, without really reading the menu, he substituted with coleslaw. But it already comes with a side of coleslaw, so he got double the coleslaw! LOL. The brisket was dry... Not a good sandwich... Stick with snacks and beer at a brewery... The beers, on the other hands, were GREAT! We enjoyed all the ones we tasted. And we even added two more tasting, since you can order 6 oz size individually. We decided to buy a pack of most unique one, Dragon Weisse home with us. The server told us that we can put in an order with him, so that we don't have to go to the store side and pay separately. We did just that, and he brought us the 4-pack to our table. Nice service! Back a little over a year later at Harpoon VT and things are a bit different. You definitely want to make a reservation if you want table service and to eat from the full menu. They do allow take away that you can bring to the many picnic tables on the property, but it's a very limited food menu. We got lucky as we asked for the patio (since we have our dog - and they're VERY dog friendly outdoors) and they had a large party that was a no-show. When you make a reservation you only have 15 minutes after your arrival before they give it away. So sorry to that group but a win for us! We were still impressed with their food this time around. We had to order the nachos again since they were incredible and also got some of their specials: fried green beans and pizza rolls! Next time we gotta order a burger or sandwich cause as we saw them come out to other groups, they looked so good! Love when breweries have good food! While on vacation in Vermont we dined at the the Harpoon Brewery. It was during Covid so we made reservations which was a great idea. Upon entering you go through the lobby where there are many beers displayed then you enter an area where you can purchase cases of beer. The dining area is over to the left and a bar as long as the dining area. There is also outside dining. We were seated upon entering and ordered a beer each. I had the UFO Pumpkin, my wife, the UFO Light Force, my daughters, the UFO Raspberry and UFO Marie Blueberry. All were good, mine was awesome. We had two orders of Fish & Chips, Black Bean Burger and a Cheese Wood Fire Pizza. All our food was great and the beers washed it down very nicely. The staff was very efficient and polite even though we were from out of town they still treated us like regulars. We have been up here twice in the last 2 years and have been here 4 times. It's Awesome food, beer and service we really enjoy so we make it a point to come here. Upon leaving we purchased several cases of beer and they gave us a discount for dining in. Awesome experience yesterday at Harpoon. I had seen that this location existed when I went tubing next door in the summer of 2019 and would have loved to stay and listen to the live music and have some beers, but my friends needed to get back to Burlington. Their winter warmer is one of my favorite seasonal beers and I wanted to try some of their other specialty beers, plus grab a meal. I followed their COVID guidelines and made an easy reservation via OpenTable. We each tried 4 beers (the Dunkin Donut Boston Creme Stout was my favorite, although the Haze Double IPA was also quite good) and I ordered the southern fried buttermilk brined chicken sandwich with seasoned waffle fries while my friend ordered the turkey sandwich special (that also donated $2 to the local food bank, well done, Harpoon) and the poutine waffle fries. The food was delicious; my fried chicken was very good and I can see why they offer fried chicken dinners. I was very tempted to order one for taking home. My friend loved his lunch as well; the potion gravy-I dipped one of my fries into it and I must not have gotten sufficient of an amount, because I didn't taste it. He loved it though. I bought a 6-pack of winter warmer to go plus a couple individual cans of their Pecan Porter, a Guava/Mango/Pineapple IPA, and a chocolate porter. Our service was fantastic and we loved our server. She was very helpful and attentive, checking on us a few times. I got confused when she was still taking our order and a beer flight came out; I hadn't observed that she was using an electronic pad and the other server who brought it, joked with me that they are all robots and speedy as a result. The staff behind the bar was just as friendly and nice. I'll come back the next time we go tubing next door and hopefully by then, which should be next summer, we can enjoy just listening to the live music and eating well. The beer is stellar with so many varieties that there is something for everyone. The bartenders are very helpful with making choices for a selection and will give you a taste to make up your mind. I have enjoyed the food there. And, events are so much fun, particularly Oktoberfest. I always look forward to visiting when in the area. read more

The Brewery, just about a mile off I-91, is still a fun place for eating and drinking and just enjoying life. The beers are wonderful -- we prefer the Classic IPA -- and there are lots of choices. The burgers are very tasty but not exceptional, and so are the wings; it seems all good pub-style food. The servers are a friendly group, too. And we really love the outdoor patio and tent seating though the inside is attractive and clean if just a bit on the noisy side. Every time we visit Vermont we make a point of stopping by here. The harpoon brewery is a really fun and welcoming experience. They have indoor seating, outdoor seating and little huts available to reserve. If you're going on a weekend, I highly recommend reservations. They've got a good menu with a lot of options. It is mostly typical bar food, but all of it is good and many of the items are made with the different beers that are available that month. The giant pretzel, monster chicken wings, and poutine are must haves from the appetizer menu. The Ruben sandwich is a winner and the fries, with that little dusting of corn starch, are excellent. I am a big fan of the beet salad, and all the burgers and sandwiches we have tried are really delicious too. If you can get a reservation for outside during the spring and summer months, I highly recommend it. It's a beautiful location and the outdoor seating is really nice. read more

What an adorable brewery with amazing Boston beers, and so much different from the one in Boston (yet the same, great, soft pretzel ). I'm so glad we had the chance to stop here in the summer, there's really cute outdoor seating complete with a fire pit and cornhole (of course)! It's also in a courtyard area complete with a small, local cheese shop, a distillery and a little outdoor shop. The brewery has a super cute gift shop, (I had to buy one of their adorable sweatshirts), and the place itself is painted in beautiful blues, yellows, and oranges, I felt like I was in a 1st grade classroom, super cute and friendly.
