A hidden gem. I have been to dozens of microbreweries. This is one of the best. Mark is an artist!

It had been several years since our prior trip, and it looks like the time has served them well! The venue is now much bigger (the building was expanded), with a good amount of indoor seating at both the bar and some separate tables. Parking seemed plentiful as well. The beer was solid, as I had remembered. We were short on time and my liver was short on remaining capacity, but it was great to be back and see the growth. The venue has such a great small, friendly feel to it, the staff were very friendly both visits, and this time they had live music as well. Came here for the first time for a special event and we were impressed with the place, which recently underwent an extensive addition that increased the floor space, providing for a large tasting area and plenty of seating. River Roost is just a brewing facility with a tasting room, so there is no food provided or for sale. However, the place is across the parking lot from Big Fatty's Barbecue for some amazing, out of this world barbecue, Mac & Cheese, and the like. And you can bring it here to munch out while savoring the many beers on draft. And since it's not a restaurants, Fido is welcome. The owner was the attendant on that day and he was quite affable and also knew his beers like the back of his hand. I tried a "Mas Verde" IPA and it was absolutely delicious. Overall a superb time with wonderful people and great beer and superb food from across the street.... The only warning about the area is the parking situation. As the area (which used to be a blighted warehouse and industrial area) has become gentrified and dotted with apartments, the nearby Northern Stage Theatre, and numerous restaurants, parking has become an issue and customers should either arrive early or realize they may have to park several blocks away. But that only shows just how popular this area has become and part of it is River Roost's doing. Great place!!!!! read more

My girlfriend and I loved this brewery. My girlfriend had been here before when the seating area was somewhat limited to one room. Not withstanding that, it was popular because people loved the beer. Now they have expanded the seating area markedly. It's at least six times larger! It includes tables and booths and a bar. The beer was great, it's right across the parking lot from a barbecue spot with great smoked barbecue and we will definitely return.! read more

We visited on a weekday. Beer was solid. We tried several. Industrial setting as far as breweries go. Was disappointed they did not have any stickers available. Bartender said she would try and find some, but never came out with any. As a traveler who collects stickers from. Breweries I visit, it was let down, especially since they had other merchandise for sale. Reached out via e-mail to see if they would sell me a sticker once they receive more, and have not heard back. read more

Such a unique brewery tasting room experience! It was just that. A room! Such great beer. My first experience with real New England style IPAs. When you walk in the doors do not let the small size and lack of tables deter you from trying what they have. You will not regret it. There's a Vermont Brewers Association poster in here that lets you get stamps and local breweries! A must try. We stood here for 30 minutes just watching operations in the back, loved being able to see the beer I'm drinking being made. You need to check this place out if you like local N.E IPAs. I stopped by here a couple of Sundays ago with my wife. We weren't originally intending to go to River Roost Brewing but it was right across the parking lot from where we ate lunch and so why not. Whenever I entered the brewery there wasn't too much to notice other than a small bar at the front with lots of merchandise on and around it. Once we got to the bar I could see a brewing area off to the right along with a few barrels. There was a chalkboard menu behind the bar which only had two beers on it. During the 10 minutes or so that my wife and I were there a bunch of people popped in and out and my wife and I were both surprised at how much merchandise they sold. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I decided to have some samples here. Since there were only two beers on draft, I decided to try them both at $2 each. As a matter of a fact, I am not sure that you could order a glass as the chalkboard menu only showed 4 oz samples and then 32 and 64 oz growler fills. The first beer that I tried was the Stripes on plaid which was a smoked brown ale. I really got the brown flavors from start to finish where the smokiness finally showed itself a little bit. Then once that was done I tried the Illusionati which was a coffee milk stout. I could really smell the coffee on the nose and it came in from start to finish. To be honest I would not have been able to tell you it was a milk stout other than it's dark color. My wife really enjoyed this one and had a couple of sips from my sample. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. While I wish that they had some more beers, the two beers that I did try were both enjoyable. read more

Stopped in this brewery on our way to Stowe to purchase cans and stayed for a taste. I do not recall much if any seating inside but it was a nice day and there is seating outside with both shade and sun. The beer is unbelievably good and if you're a beer lover and traveling through VT, pop off the highway for a visit! read more

-I have been slightly hesitant to write this review... This place is special. And I don't want it to blow up out of control from the beer nerd community. But, it's so flippin' good I have to tell all the people. Discovery: Had dinner at Blackback Pub. Perused bang up draft list... I'll give it a try. I had the Glimpse at Blackback, and remarked to myself how good it was... Next, went to the brewery. Sampled a couple and was like Wow... So picked up a few growlers. -Feet First: El Dorado (single IPA) -Martian Moon DIPA -Unfallen (Mexican Hot Chocolate Stout) I enjoyed these beers recently in the privacy of my place of residence. After drinking the beers, first few gulps or so into it I have exclaimed the following: "Oh my god" "Wow" "Phenomenal" For a good 5-10 seconds after gulps, the flavors reverberate in your mouth... Like nothing else you've experienced. Remember that first time you cracked open a Heady and pulled it down and said to yourself "Wow" or how Julius punched you in the face?!?... The beers out of River Roost will do this to you. YOU'RE WELCOME. The production here is on par with Hill Farmstead, Heady, Tree House level. Maybe better.. Super high quality, world class beers. Easy curbside pickup experience, and I love that they're across the street from a great BBQ place also offering curbside pickup. I was impressed by their tasty beers, especially given that I'd never heard of them before until I started browsing breweries near where we were staying. Project Object is incredibly easy to drink, and As Fate Would Have It (Port Barrels) had some great complexity. We'll definitely be back next time we plan a post-pandemic trip to tour the Vermont breweries. read more

This brewery is seriously one of THE best in the state. Yes it's small, yes they don't offer full pours. Who cares? If you want full pours, walk one block to Trail Break & get a full pour there! River Roost has great beer & offer cans that go quick. They have a small area to stand. People behind the bar are always very friendly. I laughed at the review that said " I hope they succeed". Came here on a pass through up to Lake Champlain and unfortunately the taproom was closed but they were open For to-go only! We tried some of their beer next door at the smokehouse bbq restaurant and got a few packs of their stout to go per request of a friend. It was good, but pretty expensive for a 4 pack, so I would be sure of exactly what you like before you buy. Fun experience though. read more

Thanks Yelp for being spot on with the five star reviews. Untapped backs up the excellent beer ratings. This place is easy to find at the 89 and 91 junction. Not a ton of parking. Tiny tasting bar, but so worth the stop. Solids IPAs, brown ales and stouts. read more

They offer very good beer. Wish they had more options for tasting but i bought 16 cans after tasting...great stuff!

This is a pretty tiny brewery in White River Junction, mostly known for their hazy DIPAs. The tasting room is quite small, and they really only offer a 2x4oz taster of whatever they have for growler fill. I would not suggest coming here to get a drink, as they do not seem to offer full pours. They typically have a few cans to go, and infrequently some bottled beers. They also offer 1L and 2L growler fills to go, so bring some glassware if you can. This place has lots of potential, so let's hope they succeed. read more

I'm been meaning to write this review for awhile now. Come on by and support this small brewery, just off the beaten path in White River Junction, VT. It's only 2 minutes detour off of the Rt 89/Rt 91 junction. The owner brews and pours this craft beer - a labor of love. It's a no frills place...no cornhole, no munchies, no nonsense kinda' place. The beer was good, but there were only two offerings on tap (both IPAs) the day we went so we didn't get to try as much as we'd have liked. They did have a bunch of cans but didn't want to buy cans of something we didn't try. You can do up to 2 small pours. I think they also have full pours. read more

Vermont has an obvious reputation for great beer but more often than not it's certain brews that get more attention than others. Unwarranted. River Roost is crafting some of the best IPAs in Vermont right now. Actually, consistently THE best IPAs that I have tasted in my state. Hoping the brewery gets a more robust taproom soon and maybe a food option on site. The current taproom is a little small and makes you feel like you need to fill and go. Though that may be by design, I'd like to be able to hang out for a bit, enjoy a brew and not just a sample...and maybe some table top shuffle board? Hands down A+++ for the most consistently delicious, juicy NE style IPAs being offered today. Haven't tasted one yet that I haven't fallen in love with. read more

AMAZING BEER! I tried the stout and bf tried the Glimpse and ended up getting a growler full. This was a quick stop along our travels to Burlington, but it was definitely worth it. It was dead and we got to chat with the brewers which was really cool. There are lots of food options in the area and we chose to check out Trail Break which was delicious. They clearly discourage hanging out lol even though they allow pours and growlers. Seriously awesome bees but come on, at least offer a few bar stools or tasting room seats. This a gem on the beer trail. Have been traveling to VT for years and am so angry I never knew this was 5 minutes from the house. The IPA's are on par with Treehouse and trillium and reasonably priced. Was lucky enough to score the first run of cans. Staff was helpful and generous to offer samples and advice.
