Swordfish kebab

We've been to this restaurant several times and it has never disappointed. The food is consistently excellent, the prices are very reasonable, and the atmosphere makes it easy to see why it's a favorite among locals. On our most recent visit, we started with the mussels and a fresh salad, both were flavorful and set the stage nicely for what was to come. For entrées, we ordered the specials: swordfish and pork tenderloin with a mustard demi-glaze. Both dishes were outstanding, cooked beautifully, and paired with a delicious vegetable medley of sweet carrots, crisp broccoli, and perfectly prepared potatoes. We couldn't resist dessert and shared the strawberry pistachio cheesecake, which was as decadent as it sounds. By the end, I was a little overfull, but only because everything was too good to leave behind! Our server, Reagan, was wonderful. She was friendly, attentive, and really added to the experience. In fact, every time we've dined here, the service has been just as impressive as the food. This place is a true gem, and we feel lucky to have it nearby whenever we are visiting the area. Highly recommend!

Great dinner last night at Windsor Station. Our first time and definitely won't be the last I enjoyed the chicken Parm with spaghetti. The spaghetti is made in the house and was perfect. The other members of my dining party enjoyed the Smashburger, the rigatoni and the special of the night a fish sandwich. Everybody agreed that Windsor station will become a regular spot for us. Shared maple frosted carrot cake and a bowl of ice cream. I suggested they should add a bowl of the maple frosting as a possible dessert item. Definitely a great team working the dining room and the front door. Very friendly and very knowledgeable.

Great food in an old Train station! Perfect stop for delicious food. The bread basket w/maple butter was a great start. We then had crab cakes and 1/2 order of Calamari both came with equally good sauces. Dinner was 1/2 Chicken Parm and husband had burger special. Both again delicious, although he asked for medium and got well- done. Still amazing Dessert was carrot cake with the best Maple cream on top. Run don't walk.

Delicious food, great staff, and an amazing setting. I had the half order of Italian sausage and pasta and it was perfect. My husband had a half order of the chicken Parmesan and we had leftovers! We also had the butternut squash soup and chocolate and pumpkin swirl cake and both were excellent. Our waiter was lovely and very friendly.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Vermont. They truly do everything right here. The atmosphere is elegant, but relaxed; the staff is friendly and courteous; the food is amazing with large portions; the prices are very reasonable. This restaurant is for every occasion -- from birthday dinner to casual meal. The vibe is more so towards jeans and a button-up, but I felt comfortable in my usual t-shirt and shorts. I appreciated the complementary bread before any meals arrived -- a small but increasingly less common practice -- with maple butter! Fried Calamari: Absolutely delicious. We foolishly ordered the half-portion, which is more suited to one person. These were crisp, well-seasoned, and tender. Next time, I'll order the full portion. Basin Street Alfredo: A classically heavy dish, the Alfredo was rich and packed with chicken, shrimp, and sausage. I ordered the full portion, which is very large -- I ended up taking about a 1/3 of it home, which is great. I really enjoyed this entree. Skunk Hollow Tavern - Alaskan Salmon with broccoli & pilaf rice

Luckily, we didn't have reservations on a busy Friday night and scored a seat downstairs near the fireplace. Parking was a bit tight, but we managed to find a spot close by. The interior was beautifully decorated with string lights and barn wood beams, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. Our waitress was very kind and clearly tried her best to accommodate the entire front of the restaurant on her own - for her first evening on the job, she did a great job. We both enjoyed the specials - salmon with broccoli and rice pilaf, plus I had a delicious beet salad. I enjoyed a refreshing raspberry mocktail, while my friend had THE RUBY SLIPPER--Absolut Ruby Red, elderflower liqueur, grapefruit juice, raspberry puree, and a sugar rim. We waited a bit for our check since I was in a rush to leave to take antihistamines; unfortunately, I discovered there was mustard in the salmon sauce, which I'm allergic to. I should have asked before ordering, but I only realized after my symptoms started following my last bite. Overall, it's a cozy, quaint place with limited parking, and reservations are recommended for a smoother experience.

Live music on certain nights, but not the two times we went. We tend to have dinner early though. Starter salads and soups were delicious and homemade. I had a Spanish onion soup on one night and a caprese salad variation another night (fresh mozzarella and summer tomatoes with a basil aioli)! Mains were equally delicious - herb wrapped tenderloin cooked to rare perfection, Carlos Chicken (a brined half chicken then coated with Cajun seasoning and deep fried). We have also had the pork loin and another chicken dish that had a creamy, sublime sauce. Definitely indulge in the bread basket and desserts; all of which are made by Heidi, one of the several family members that have been running the Skunk since the mid-80s. From-scratch delicious food, really lovely garden seating, and great cocktails! And last but not least, really friendly, attentive and professional wait staff. All the reasons why locals come often and vacationers come back year after year!

Hubby reported his roast beef sandwich was great although the roast beef looked overcooked to me. What was dubious, however, were the French fries. They had a sort of mealy texture and a very odd taste--I thought they used coconut oil to fry but hubby thinks they coated them with baking soda, then fried. Either way I wasn't a fan.

The inside is charming and has that old wooden bar smell that I like. This would be a great place to grab a drink on a cold winter day. Very Scottish, lol. We were seated immediately for our 6:30 dinner reservation. We each ordered appetizers, which took nearly 45 minutes to arrive, even the cup of soup. Mozzarella sticks were nothing special, the cheddar tomato soup was really tasty. My mother in law loved the cock-a-leekie soup, and my father in law liked his scotch egg. It took another 20-25 minutes for our entrees to arrive. For a restaurant that closes at 8 pm, it was surprising at how long the food took to come out. They must have a very small kitchen. Everyone in our group liked their meal. My "loaded vegetarian baked potato" was just a full cup of sour cream and cheese on top of a potato with lukewarm broccoli on the side. A bit disappointing, with there were at least chives or seasoning. Basically nothing else vegetarian on the menu so this was what I was stuck with. Desserts were good, especially the sticky toffee pudding. I would call this place a step above average in the area, but service leaves a lot to be desired.
