I would give them 10 stars if I could. This was my brother and I's favorite mean while in Vermont. The only mistake we made was not planning ahead and making a reservation because they fill up quick. Upon arrival, the hostess said they did not have any tables or reservations. She was super accommodating and was able to move some things around. We had to wait about 30 minutes but we were patient since she was willing to work with us and we really wanted to eat here! The server was fantastic and provided water and bread. My brother had a lemonade. We started with an order of calamari. I then had the chicken parm while my brother had the ribs. He swears it was the best he ever had. I got a piece of carrot cake to go and ate it when I got back to our hotel. Everything was fresh and delicious. We even got a surprise as a train passed and shook the whole dining room. What a quaint place right by the train station. Inside decor is in line with the theme. Suitcases, ticket windows, even their business card is a shaped of a travel tag, very warm and welcoming. We came here on a Thursday night around 5:30 pm and the place was hopping. We didn't have a reservation and the wait was going to be 90 minutes long... Luckily we were able to find seats in the bar! Bartender Marty was great and got our orders in right away. We were happy to listened to him that the half portion is a good size for 1 person. Between the 4 of us, we ordered steamed mussels, half speghetti and meatballs, half chicken ala vodka, and grilled salmon. Before dinner, we were served with warm bread with maple butter - that was sooo good. All the dishes were solid, but our fav was the homemade strawberry apple crisp. Although the ambience is very nice and the food is acceptable, what was entirely unacceptable is a one hour waiting time to get some appetizers on takeout. In the meantime, all the other patrons at the bar had received and finished their food so it looks like they simply forgot about my order. When I asked the bartender to speak to a manager he indicated somehow there wasn't a manager and simply dropped the bill on the bar and walked away. So... Yet another disappointing restaurant in Windsor really the only place worth a damn around here is the pizza joint and it's average at best. We've been to this restaurant several times and it has never disappointed. The food is consistently excellent, the prices are very reasonable, and the atmosphere makes it easy to see why it's a favorite among locals. On our most recent visit, we started with the mussels and a fresh salad, both were flavorful and set the stage nicely for what was to come. For entrées, we ordered the specials: swordfish and pork tenderloin with a mustard demi-glaze. Both dishes were outstanding, cooked beautifully, and paired with a delicious vegetable medley of sweet carrots, crisp broccoli, and perfectly prepared potatoes. We couldn't resist dessert and shared the strawberry pistachio cheesecake, which was as decadent as it sounds. By the end, I was a little overfull, but only because everything was too good to leave behind! Our server, Reagan, was wonderful. She was friendly, attentive, and really added to the experience. In fact, every time we've dined here, the service has been just as impressive as the food. This place is a true gem, and we feel lucky to have it nearby whenever we are visiting the area. Great dinner last night at Windsor Station. Our first time and definitely won't be the last I enjoyed the chicken Parm with spaghetti. The spaghetti is made in the house and was perfect. The other members of my dining party enjoyed the Smashburger, the rigatoni and the special of the night a fish sandwich. Everybody agreed that Windsor station will become a regular spot for us. Shared maple frosted carrot cake and a bowl of ice cream. I suggested they should add a bowl of the maple frosting as a possible dessert item. The atmosphere is elegant, but relaxed; the staff is friendly and courteous; the food is amazing with large portions; the prices are very reasonable. This restaurant is for every occasion -- from birthday dinner to casual meal. The vibe is more so towards jeans and a button-up, but I felt comfortable in my usual t-shirt and shorts. I appreciated the complementary bread before any meals arrived -- a small but increasingly less common practice -- with maple butter! Fried Calamari: Absolutely delicious. We foolishly ordered the half-portion, which is more suited to one person. These were crisp, well-seasoned, and tender. Next time, I'll order the full portion. Basin Street Alfredo: A classically heavy dish, the Alfredo was rich and packed with chicken, shrimp, and sausage. This had been our favorite restaurant in the area. We've been many times and recommended it to friends. Tonight was a real disappointment. The host was rude about our reservation when I asked about the wait time, and then we finally got seated. We ordered and waited a very long time for our dinners. There was a couple that was seated 5 minutes before us who had paid their bill by the time our dinners arrived. My fish was extremely overcooked, but given how long we'd waited, I didn't want to send it back. I told the server that. She walked away and brought us our check as soon as we'd finished. She did not offer dessert. It was more like "get the hell out if you don't like our food". As I said, I really like this place and until tonight had a wonderful experience with the staff. I am not sure what happened. I'd recommend ordering the basics (burgers, pasta, steaks, etc.). I am not sure if we will give it another try in the near future or not. Our daughter is moving into this area of Vermont and suggested we try Windsor Station. Cute sleepy Vermont town, on the still used Amtrak station in Windsor. Very charming, calming atmosphere, great service all around. We had the daily soup special, a rich + satisfying veggie lentil. Quite filling glad I just went for the cup! We shared the Cesar salad which was nice definitely house made dressing, parmesan + nice crotons. We splurged when we saw the pastas are homemade. Having a 2nd generation Italian momma, I think my pasta + sauce standards are pretty high. We shared a large 1/2 order of Pasta Norma (Sicilian style dish w/eggplant + ricotta) it was Really Really good!!!! Like Really!!! Our 3 mains - Filet Mignon, the salmon w/bacon scallion crumbles, w/lime crème fraiche over a polenta w veggies + my Fish + Chips w homemade tartar sauce. A good tartar sauce can make or break Fish + Chips! All dishes were right on point. To be fair I didn't try my hubby's beef but he loved it! Daughter's salmon was cooked perfectly. Nice balance of flavors + a little crispy texture too! Service warm + friendly + efficient. Sitting in the 100+ year old station was really fun, although wonderfully overpowered by the great food! The atmosphere is nice but the real attraction is the food. My wife and I started out with the Maine Dutch Mussels and they were delicious. It was so good we even used the fresh bread that we started with to soak up the mussel sauce that was left over. I then went with the Chicken and Vodka Sauce and found that it was even better than the Mussels. My wife went with the Fish and Chips and said they were great. My wife was born and raised in Scotland and she qualifies as a Fish & Chip expert. Since we were on vacation we splurged and split a slice of Maple Frosted Carrot Cake, let me just say it was the perfect end to a perfect meal. To top everything off we enjoyed some of the craft brews that they had on tap. Suffice it to say that the next time we're in the area, we will be back. The Station is great. read more

We just had a wonderful dinner experience with Windsor Station Restaurant. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was fresh and hot and delicious! The ambiance was unique and comforting and I highly recommend! When we were seated, the waitstaff brought over fresh hot bread and butter which is always a nice touch while you view the menu and you're starving. I ordered the veggie burger with side salad instead of fries and hubby ordered the full size alfredo with a half caesar to start. My burger was quite possibly the best veggie burger I've ever had. It was stacked with fresh lettuce and tomatoes and carmelized onions and sautéed mushrooms with melted cheddar on the veggie patty- which was hot and perfectly formed- not too dry like it has been from where i've ordered from other places in the past. My side salad was cool and refreshing with fresh veggies and the maple peppercorn dressing was amazing!! Hubby's half caesar was basic but just the right size for having veggies with his dinner . His alfredo however, was AMAZING. It wasn't a regular alfredo sauce, since there was chicken, shrimp and sausage so that added a delicious savory taste. He brought about 1/3 of the leftovers of the FULL size home so he wouldn't overdo it. All and all, was a wonderful meal. Great food. Great service. Great setting. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars was because we were charged for my side salad that should've come with my burger. Anyways, I'm writing this review bc molly and the person who gave me the food failed to give me ketchup and extra utensils, after I politely asked for it. Was up in Vermont for a quick trip away and the hotel that we were staying at suggested that we give Windsor Station a try for dinner. It was a good suggestion. Windsor station is a restaurant that is located in a old train station, hence the name. They did a nice job of converting it into a restaurant, it still keeps all of the original charm of a train station. They still have the original ticket booth, and there is luggage all about. It looks like they could use it as a train station tomorrow if they had to, but in a good way. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and even a takeout window if you choose to use it. The waitress was one of the better ones I have had, she was nice and friendly, she was talkative with out being overly so. She made good suggestions. The food we had was delicious. The bread with maple butter was a great way to start our dinner. The fried mozzarella was just what I was looking for, I love that it's one giant piece of cheese, not sticks. The fried Haddock was amazing, it was so good and so massive, the malt vinegar pushed it to a whole new level. The burger was very good. Overall if you find yourself in the area I highly recommend that you give Windsor Station try. It has great food, great service and a great ambiance to eat in. read more

We had a fabulous dinner here last night for the first time. Our waitress, Kristin, was warm, friendly and delightful. Started off with the Merry Mai Tai (Yum). My sister and I are visiting from CA and the Windsor Station came highly recommended by our Airbnb host...and it did not disappoint! I started with a smooth, local blonde ale that was delicious. I had a small baby kale salad with a light citrus vinaigrette and then had a 1/2 portion of a chicken and rigatoni with a creamy vodka sauce. The station is a go to place in Windsor for a fine meal and we are happy that is it here as options are very limited - especially after 8:00pm.
