This place is one of the best I've had for authentic Mexican food. The wet burrito was on special tonight and did not disappoint. It was half as big as the plate, the other half was covered in awesome tasting rice. We also had steak nachos that had some of the best steak nachos could ever have. Guacamole: it's like they use Walmart's version of it and then just add tomatoes. Ordered a large horchata: it's really flat if that makes sense? If not point Blake, I've had way better. If you are in Sundusky, GO HERE! I am a lover, I mean extreme lover of all Mexican food. So of course I had to stop and get Mexican while in Sandusky for the weekend. I am so glad we chose to eat here! The restaurant looks super quirky on the outside, and the inside is not different. The staff was so friendly and attentive. The hostess sat us and asked if we wanted mild or hot salsa. We went with the mild to start and later on got the hot. Be warned that there is no middle ground between them! The mild is not spicy at all, and the hot was too much! We ended up mixing them together and made the perfect amount of heat. We also ordered the queso which was delicious. I had the flautas. Very flavorful, crispy, and yummy. It came with rice, pico, and the typical side goodies you get at a Mexican resturant. Huge portions as well! Everything came out very fast and I was super happy we found this place. Satuisfied my Mexican food craving very well!! Solid spot with great prices near Cedar Point. Looks a bit shady from the outside, but the traditional Mexican fare on the inside is solid. The chicken nachos on the appetizer menu were a great bargain and tasted great. Taquitos, chimichangas, and tacos were all solid as well. This place was recommended by our hotel and we were very pleasantly surprised. Coming from Chicago, we expected bland Mexican American food. It wasn't. The menu is extensive and the prices are very reasonable. Salsa was brought to the table with fresh chips. The salsa was good but the chips needed salt. We ordered. guacamole and it was smooth and full of flavor with chunks of tomatoes. Two of our party has the steak burrito. They weren't "as big as your head" like in our hometown, but the meat was seasoned nicely and it included rice and beans inside with cheese melted across the top. Guacamole, lettuce and sour cream were on the side. A third person had the nachos supreme. It was served with a white cheese sauce and white melted cheese too. Also had beef, refried beans and sour cream . Chips were freshly made and thin. And a big serving too. I had chicken and steak fajitas because I couldn't decide between the two. Both meats were seasoned well and served with just the right mix of onions and peppers. Of course they came on a piping hot skillet. Refried beans, served on the side, were smooth and flavorful. Rice was okay. The service was attentive. I wish they would've given everyone plates at the beginning, because I like to put my chips aside and add salt on my own. And the non used spaces needed to be dusted. But the food was really great, so I could overlook those things. read more

Decided to come here with the family on our trip to Cedar Point and I think I have found my all time favorite Mexican Restaurant. Aside from being an authentic mexican food experience, the staff is the most friendly I think I have ever had. Extremely nice, gracious, and willing to help with the many choices they have on the menu. The reason why I feel like I am so ecstatic about this restaurant was multiple reasons, but the most being they have one of my favorite mexican soups, Menudo. If you know what Menudo is, then you should no it is very authentic and the tripe in the soup literally melted in my mouth. We will be back without A DOUBT! read more

This place is straight out of the book, "How to Run an Authentic Mexican Hole-in-the-Wall Restaurant". I can't wait to come again. Portion sizes are quite large, the drinks are amazing, and celebrating our fifth anniversary was an amazing and worthwhile endeavor. We were looking for a hole-in-the-wall Mexican place. We were hoping to see the water, but didn't realize how inland the road was. But we were starving, and even though the parking lot looked a bit disheveled - we decided to see if it was open. My first impression of the exterior was laughter. I feel that I know good branding. And this is not it -- different mismatched logos, tons of fonts, no clear style, random colors that a rainbow puked up. But bad branding is almost synonymous with hole-in-the-wall Mexican joints, so me and my wife were stoked. The layout was also bizarre. You're first greeted by the bar and a cardboard cutout of a Corona lady. The ceiling is gross and the menus and table menu looked awful. Again, this excited me. I ended up picking both a quesadilla and enchiladas (for just myself), and I should have known better, but I was super hungry. Ended up eating most but not enough for that. The waitress spoke very little English. This is another good sign. The Mexican cuisine is hard to mess up, but it's even harder to perfect. With the exception of the guacamole (it just wasn't amazing unless we added some salt - didn't feel like homemade stuff), we loved every bite and were treated to some fun extras because of our fifth anniversary. We spoke to the owner/manager and he was so kind and courteous. If I drive even close this place, I'n going back because the experience was that good. read more

We are from Phoenix Arizona and we have great Mexican food there , the service was good . The food was ok at best , I guess if you live 2500 miles from Mexico you can loose some of the authentic flavors of Mexico . My family spent a couple days at the Kalahari resort and decided to have lunch here on the way home. We were hoping it was as good as we remembered it from the last time we were here. It was even better. My husband loved the hot salsa as well as his meal and the kids enjoyed the Queso dip and Mexican soda. My chile relleno was absolutely delicious. My family and I had just spent Mother's Day at Cedar Point and had a long two hour drive back to Michigan so we decided to stop for a bite. I checked Yelp and saw this Mexican restaurant just outside the park with great reviews. I have to say, the reviews are certainly well deserved! Let me start by saying it looks like your standard mom and pop type Mexican restaurant. Not flashy, not upscale, just what you would expect. But that's not where they deliver. Let's start with the food: they make a lot from scratch. The salsa and the chips are both made in-house and you'll realize it on the first bite. Honestly, it's the best salsa I've had. I don't cave to hyperbole much, but we ordered a quart to take home if that helps you believe me. The portions are filling and the price is right. I had the chimichangas (one beef, one chicken) and they serve Mexican food like you're in Mexico. It's seasoned appropriately, and again, a lot is homemade. The guacamole is unreal as well. This place offers great food at great value. The service is spot on, professional, and courteous. The drinks were refilled in a timely fashion (poor lady, we were parched from the day at the park) and the orders came out hot and correct. I wish we lived closer to Sandusky, but not for Cedar Point. This place is a diamond in the rough and not to be missed. read more

Came at the end of a Sunday night. 3 servers waited on us and gave us exactly what we asked for. The menu is printed way too small and the restaurant is humble. However, do not be fooled! This place has legit great food and portion sizes for every meal. Highly recommend the anything with the mole sauce. We ordered the pork carnitas. Pork was phenomenal and great chunks perfectly seasoned and cooked ! Poblano rellenos did not disappoint and the shrimp burritos with side of rice was tender and fresh. Friendly staff. We were staying the night in Sandusky and decided we wanted some Mexican food and this place had pretty good reviews except for Nicole who didn't like it because of the decorations and the guacamole. I think to get a one star rating EVERYTHING has to suck!! The best thing about this restaurant is the staff. ALL were very friendly and attentive. Our server, Omar, was so sweet and very knowledgeable about the whole menu. However, on the food I have to totally agree with Nicole in her assessment of the people that gave 5 stars and claimed it was the best Mexican food they had ever had.......they don't know what great Mexican food is. This food was so bland you could feed it to a baby. Absolutely zero spice in anything we had. The restaurant itself could use some sprucing up. Make the bathrooms look nicer, remove the paper decorations, etc. I'm from Texas and we have GREAT Mexican food so maybe this is the best you have in Ohio. I don't know. read more

We have been going to Juan and Estela's restaurant since it was where the Harley Davidson is located now--THAT long! This family-run business changed name and address three times but we kept following them! Their food is always delicious and plenty, and the service is very fast. My wife and I had just enjoyed a day at Cedar Point amusement park and were craving Mexican food. It's close to the park and with decent reviews, we decided to check it out. It's not hard to find, ample parking, and then we got inside. The first thing we're greeted with is one of the waitresses screaming into a phone at the person on the other end. She slammed down the phone, turned around and saw me and my wife there along with another couple who were waiting to pay. She apologized and asked if anyone was ready to "check out". An older gentleman came out of the kitchen and sat us. It then took a good 5-10 minutes for us to get our drink and food order in. Our waitress, who was different than the screaming one at least acknowledged that the service was less than stellar and repeatedly apologized. At one point, the "screamer" waitress yelled from the bar to someone, "You're not my boss!" She then proceeded back into the kitchen. Now, the food wasn't bad. I had the Guadalajara and my wife ordered the Fish Tacos special (though she mentioned it could've been seasoned) The restroom had wet floors and an overflowing trash can. The price is right. Very affordable but if we had wanted dinner AND a show, we would've gone elsewhere. Overall, needs improvement in the service department and maybe some salt in the cuisine. read more
