This was our first trip to the Sandusky area and this place rated highly on here. We didn't realize until we arrived that this is essentially a glorified concession stand in a marina and not a "restaurant." Think snack bar at the roller rink or high school football game. Granted the menu is far from a snack bar and I do give them credit for aiming high with some pretty aspirational dishes. While other reviews suggest table service, that was not our experience. You ordered at the counter, given a pager, and fetched your food when the devices beeped incessantly. You buss your own table too. My wife ordered the lobster roll, which was rather competitively priced. Unfortunately, it was primarily filled with lettuce and tomatoes, with an OK amount lobster meat. She didn't care for the celery and green onion mixed in, not traditional lobster roll ingredients. I had the perch tacos, a first for me. Again, novel idea but lacking on execution. A few thin fish strips in each taco were more breading than fish. My wife couldn't have more than one sip of her cocktail and my IPA was warm. Anything waterside will have a natural appeal but the furniture and seating area is nothing more than a sidewalk. $61 for a serve yourself concession stand experience is more fitting for a stadium or sports arena. read more

Dockside Cafe is a small lake-side cafe that serves burgers, sandwiches, and tacos. They only have outdoor seating, so make sure to bring a jacket if it's windy outside. The staff are friendly and it seems family-run. There's a parking lot close by, but you do have to walk a little to get to the cafe. The first time we tried to go, they were closed due to weather. The food was okay--not bad, but nothing special. I heard that they host local bands/musicians on weekends. read more

This was a lovely, quiet place to get lunch with beautiful views and delicious food at a reasonable price. It's a counter service restaurant with (covered) outdoor seating. There were lots of Canada Geese around the dining area, but they weren't disruptive. There were a few "bees" (yellow jackets?) which were more troublesome -- one even climbed into my son's Sprite! The location has a very nice view of the lake. You can see plenty of water, as well as Cedar Point. There were also lots of docked boats and a few people fishing while we waited for our food, which didn't take long to prepare. We ended up eating in our vehicle, because my son became very aware of the bees. There were only a few of them, and it's an outdoor location, so it wasn't something the restaurant did wrong. But, after one of the flying barb-butted insects invaded his beverage, he'd had enough. We also could have tried a different table -- it wasn't busy when we visited during an odd time -- but our closed, comfortable, vehicle also wasn't parked far from the restaurant. And, since I was now allowing people to eat in it, we opted for the a/c, radio, and rolled-up windows. The food was absolutely delicious! I wasn't expecting anything great -- we just wanted a quick lunch. But, this food was excellent! Everything was cooked to perfection, and had plenty of flavor. We have stopped several other times, but it was always so busy that we left. I finally got to eat here today with a group of friends!! There are numerous outside tables with nice views. You order your food and then they either call your name or give you a buzzer. All run very efficiently. I had the chicken quesadillas, which had corn and beans inside, which is new for me, but I enjoyed it. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. The views are great and the setting is nice. We dropped in for a light lunch that came with a view of Lake Erie. Average water temp 73 f, deepest spot 200 feet. Considered shallow. So You stand in line, give the order and announce your name. Goes pretty fast. You pick up and clear your own table. I chose Seared Ahi Tuna Tacos. Very good with avocado , lettuce and tomato and a hot sauce. "But" they serve it on a cold flour tortilla. Common east coast error.! It should be warm or hot. We had the hand cut fries to go with. Pretty good. And the house salad. Ranch dressing only. With lemonades. Perfect for a table in the sun. Seating is under a canopy or along the dock. Lots of guests, lots of boats going out to the lake. Very pleasant. read more

This super casual, waterfront place was just perfect for lunch after a fun morning at Cedar Point, before heading on our road trip home back to Texas. My daughter got the burger and said it was one of the best she's ever had. I got fish tacos - the fish was fine but the sauce on the tacos is what made it so special. I loved this place, my husband would have rated it a couple stars less but hey who's writing the review, me or him? Maybe it was because it was a beautiful night with a perfect sunset or maybe it was the live music or the fact that I had been wanting a fish taco. Heck, maybe it was the rum punch, whatever the reason, I super enjoyed my time here and will put it on the rotation wherever we are in the area! Another Yelp mobile app winner! We were road tripping hard and decided a break was in order. The reviews were great so we headed to Dockside for lunch, only to find that downtown Sandusky was blown up with all kinds of construction and new build going on. That made actually getting to Dockside a little tricky because most of the through streets were either closed or tore up. With a little persistence though, you can still access the street that runs closest to the lake, it runs one way by the lake. That persistence paid off with a stellar view of the bay, lake Erie and Cedar Point. The weather was grand for dining outside next to the water. The service is DIY, so peruse the posted menu and place your order at the counter. All kinds of good beverages to choose from and the eats are kind of food trucky with a price to go with it, so more expensive than you would figure to look at it; but the grilled mahi mango jalapeno tacos I had were out of sight. Tacos for two, two beers and a small fry came out to just under $40. The folks working there were real nice, everyone was enjoying their food and the weather, along with classic rock tunes for background music. I would totally go back. read more

Dockside is a lively place to be with pretty views right on the lake! (seasonal place only if yoy aren't from around here) They have the best Bloody Marys. I could literally sit there all day and drink them. Busy on the weekends as expected. Dog friendly as long as they are leashed. The food is sooo good. The walleye tacos + fries are a favorite. The shrimp quesadilla is amazing. Live music on the weekends. Usually they'll close for the day for any bad weather. (understandably since they're located right on the lake) They keep their instagram and facebook updated regularly with specials and hours during their season as well. read more

Fun outdoor counter service restaurant with outdoor seating. Beautiful view of Sandusky Bay and Cedar Point. The perch tacos were good and staff was friendly. It can get busy quickly and it took some time for us to order and then get our food. Only open during the summer months. Attached to the Paper District Marina, it was a lot of fun to come by boat. Stopped here on the way back from a road trip. On the water, beautiful view of Lake Erie, the Sunset and Cedar Point out in the distance. The other determining factor here was that it was dog friendly as we had our dogs with us. Pretty big selection of food. They offered fish tacos and lobster rolls. The wife ordered the fish tacos. I chose their burger and fries and local IPA beer on draft. I thought the burger was okay. The wife said her tacos tasted fine. The reason I kept this at a 5 is because I sort of knew this before arriving. I wasn't going to be expecting top notch restaurant quality food with a place that had quesadillas, hot dogs and burgers and fries on their menu. They had quite the mix of alcohol. It also helped that it was next to a big patch of grass. It helped entertain peoples kids and also spread the amount of people out who wanted to see the sunset from different vantage points as there was a small hill. If you happen to be near Sandusky. Want to watch the sunset and enjoy some cheap food or have a drink this is your place. We'll be back. I have to say I'll recommend the dockside grill to anybody who want some good food good times drinks on the water, I also recommend getting the walleye tacos they're like crispy have a lemon aioli it's a light acidic taste but it's really really great I would recommend it to anybody I recommend sitting on the dock in just enjoying the view you get to see Cedar point. hi me it's only open seasonal but I recommend it to anybody I I to try it the first time it's a hole in the wall type of place you'll enjoy eating your tacos it's very lighting to your stomach it's not fishy it's it's the tortillas are flower just made right, I say the staff are very friendly helpful fast and just got my food and I ordered as I just wanted something quick and fast helpful and joyful it was in a great experience I will never forget. read more
