I love the décor throughout the restaurant, especially the colorful art on each of the table and chair. The menus cover a wide range of Mexican food and drinks. I went around lunch hour and got the lunch special Shrimp Fajita. The food came out piping hot and love the taste of some charred shrimp and the veggies. I also love their bean and rice.

Was traveling here to go to Cedar Point, I can say I definitely was not disappointed. The food was delicious. I got the Strawberry Lemonade, and it was much bigger than I thought and it came with a color changing spoon. I tried the Pollo Loco since I saw it recommended in other reviews, and I was not disappointed. The prices are also really decent as well. If you are looking for somewhere unique and delicious to go, El Grand Patron is an amazing choice.

I am sorry, but I think I have become a bit jaded due to living in SoCal for 2+ decades and being spoiled by the plethora of choices when it comes to good Mexican food establishments. This was my first visit to Patron and to me, the food was merely so-so. Nothing to write home about. My search for a truly good Mexican food experience in NW Ohio continues.

There was only one other group of diners when we arrived around 2p. This restaurant came highly recommended by my family who is from Sandusky, so we were excited to try it. After we sat down the host gave us the menus which smelled as if they were just cleaned with lemon Clorox wipes. Pee-u! Not my favorite smell. My sister and niece had margaritas on the rocks and when the drinks arrived the drinks, were brown in color. My sister tasted it and made a face and told me to try it... yuck! What was that taste? It tasted like a chemical like a cleaner. My sister and niece stated to the waitress that they were undrinkable and asked for beers instead. My sister, who is never mean, was very polite explaining to the waitress about the taste and that possibly the lime mixture had turned bad. The waitress looked pissed and said ok and failed to remove the undrinkable drinks that had been pushed to the edge of the table. She copped an attitude after that. Nastily describing the food when I asked a question. She took 20 minutes to return forgetting the beers and finally took our orders. And about 15 minutes later brought their beers. We should have left but we were hungry and still having hope at decent food. My food, the inside out burrito with steak, was good, but my sister's food was terrible. Again the cleaner smell and taste were in the beans. Strange flavor. My niece liked her tacos, but the beans spread on her plate also tasted like chemicals. (Had they just cleaned up after the lunch rush???) It was about 2. The decor inside the restaurant was fun and colorful. But a restaurant should be on the food not the decor. After getting our bill, the waitress left the margaritas on the bill, instead like most places, taking them off. When we got up to leave we noticed the other patrons that had come in since we arrived had ordered margaritas and they were NOT brown like ours that were still sitting in the table. (See photos). Very sad experience. We are visitors so I'm sure El Grand Patron won't care that we will never we return.

It was a smaller store front, cozy and a hidden gem! The restaurant has so much personality, with years of awards proudly displayed throughout the dining room. Before the food even arrived, we knew we had found somewhere special. We started with the Bistro Onion Soup and the Red Pepper Lobster Bisque. French onion soup and lobster bisque are two of my all-time favorites, so my expectations were high. The Bistro Onion Soup absolutely delivered--rich, flavorful broth, perfectly tender onions, and an incredible blanket of melted cheese. Easily one of the best onion soups I've ever had. The Red Pepper Lobster Bisque was equally memorable. The sweetness of the roasted red peppers paired beautifully with the lobster, creating a unique twist that really worked. My husband and older son both ordered the Momma Mia. A spaghetti sandwich? We were intrigued! My son gave it a 9/10 and said it tasted like a lasagna sandwich. He'd order it again without hesitation. My youngest chose Ziggy the Piggy and declared it "the best sandwich I've ever had." That's high praise from a 10-year-old! He gave it a perfect 10/10, and the sandwich was nearly as big as his head. Honestly, reading the menu made us want to come back just to try everything else. Every item sounded delicious. What made the experience even better was the staff. They were warm, welcoming, and genuinely seemed to love what they do. That kind of hospitality is hard to fake, and it made us feel right at home. If you're passing through--or even if you're not--Zuppaman is absolutely worth the stop. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town.

My Ziggy in the piggy was mac n cheese in a wrap and had no meat. The mac was also cold and not good. My 4 other friends also had terrible wraps and sandwiches. We all agreed that the best part of the meals were the drinks. I couldn't finish my wrap and we left hungry and disappointed.

( Now for the other side of the story). Going back to the time when I was born (in Ireland, but this story began in another part of Europe) In the 1950's outside of Athens, Greece when a family traveled from there to the United States in search of a better life. The mother found comfort in a foreign land while working as a baker, hand-making the recipes she brought with her. She passed these recipes on, with love. Another begins in the 1980's on the Italian island of Sardinia when a young man in the U.S. Navy, met a local girl & brought her back to the United States to raise their family. (See separate review for CLAG Brewing.) On arrival, it was mostly empty as it had just opened, but were told it would fill up. That was hard to believe as the place is huge, with multiple bar areas, tables of different sizes, and lots of standing. However, by the time we left it was filled! We sat at the main bar so we could talk to the owner. Our day had started with other breweries, so we were hungry and I'm glad we saved our tummies to dine here. I live in a city with tons of amazing Vietnamese restaurants, but this place blew them all away with maybe the most flavorful pho I've ever had. A huge bowl, not overly salty, with fresh produce and great flavor. Some of their beers are brewed perfectly to go with these zesty citrus flavors, so you really can't go wrong eating and drinking together. As I knew this was my only visit this trip, I also ordered a plate of fried rice which was also fantastic and I loved trying their sauces with it. Prices are so reasonable for the quality here. If you're a fan of Vietnamese food, great beer, and cool vibes, this is a must visit spot!

My husband, who is extremely picky about meat quality, declared it the best burger he's ever had. Stuffed burgers are notoriously tricky to cook to a preferred well-done without drying out, but the kitchen nailed it! My only minor critique--and this is just personal preference as a bit of a seasoning buff--is the perch. The fish itself was amazingly fresh, which is the most important detail, but the fried batter was a little plain for my taste. I would've loved a kick of Old Bay or extra seasoning in the batter, similar to how amazingly seasoned the fries were! All in all, this spot is a great hidden gem in Sandusky. Highly recommend stopping in!

We waited 45 minutes to get a salad, it was a Caesar salad salad and they were already out of Romain dressing at 7 PM on a Friday night. We had a Caesar salad salad with spring mix instead... No big deal. The portions were huge, but our dinner came in an hour and 15 minutes after we sat down. It was painfully slow, I will say our waitress was apologetic and helpful. And I know that it was busy, but it's really no excuse for it to look so dirty. It only takes a minute to sweep under a table after a party leaves. The bathroom was deplorable, there was water on the floor and muddy footprints everywhere. The napkins on the ground around the tables along with discarded french fries and shrimp tails were a bit gross. The food is five star, the rest... ehhhhh
