My boyfriend and I were visiting from Greensboro and wanted to find a different taco joint. We came here and it was Awesome food and awesome service. They were super fast seating us and the food came out quick as well. Everyone was hustling to make sure the customers were taken care of. I also like the diversity from young to older waiters and waitresses and different races as well. Super cool place. Bro ham taco was alright, the kahuna taco was pretty great, the pollo loco was awesome and I can't remember the other one but it had fried chicken and mango was awesome too!! My husband and I was just there and I ordered a Taco salad with just ground meat, tomatoes and chopped lettuce and black olives, it came with very little pieces of tomato, great big pieces of lettuce that was not even cut up and they threw corn in there which I did not request. I paid $18.00 dollars for it and could not even eat it it was so bad. I have never had a taco salad that bad. The waitress was new and could not even answer our questions. Not sure what's happened to this place but not what it once was. Slow service and took an hour and a half to get tacos for 3 adults and one child. Quality has gone down as well as service. Tip for the hippo- put the shrimp and fish back in the tacos your skimping where you shouldn't- used to love the food here last visit meh at best. Always wanted to try it here! It's a fun environment and the food looks good and who can resist a margarita? We got nachos and the mushroom quesadillas with chicken. Food was great! Came out hot and pretty flavorful for an Americanized Mexican joint. The problem was the margarita. It came out more clear in color which I was actually excited about because no real margarita is lime green in color but when I tasted it, it literally had no flavor. There was barely any tequila, and faint lime flavor, and lots and lots of ice. Two swigs out of a tiny straw and it was gone. Gone for $7. I was gonna say something to the server but it was already drank and that's not cool to mention it after the fact but it really didn't start bothering me till I thought about it more. Any place where the menu revolves around Nachos is great in my book. The atmosphere here is cool. Seems like a good place to have drinks with friends. Even if you don't drink, like myself its very enjoyable. The nachos are really big even if you split them and reasonably priced. You can also make any combination you can think of if the ones on the menu aren't your type. Big variety of tacos also. Service is friendly. read more

We shared some the sampler and ordered seafood nachos. The nachos were more than enough to share. The Korean taco sounded better than it tasted but I can't pin-point why. This is a decent restaurant with a cool atmosphere and variety of southwest style nachos and tacos. Probably best known for their nachos which are very filling and good. Many styles and toppings with to choose. I have also tried the tacos with were ok but not as good as the nachos. Two of us went here on a rainy day in Myrtle Beach. We each got three tacos, not realizing that they were pretty large tacos. Tacos came out piled on a small side dish, we had to ask for a real plate to eat off of. I ordered the Baha Fish tacos with fried fish, the Bangin Shrimp, and the Rock Lobsta. All three were good although the Rock Lobsta could have been cut up a little so it was a little easier to eat. It was one piece of breaded lobster in the taco. Boyfriend had the Ka-Ka-Ka-Kia, Rikki Tikki Tavi, and the Gringo. He was not thrilled with his. His friend plantains were terrible. Service was good. Table was a little dirty. Set up of restaurant was pretty cool with large opened garage door sides overlooking the park with pond. read more

This place was an absolute disappointment. We didn't have really high standards considering if was a franchise but it was disgusting. The fried chicken was rubbery and undercooked. We ordered the mahi tuna tacos they had one slice of tuna. I mean for a $6 taco I would like to taste the tuna. We asked for a salad without the tortilla bowl and of course it came out in the bowl that truly wasn't to worst part. The quality of the food was horrible. Nacho Hippo is a fun environment for both families, and young adults. The setting has fun hippie vibe with hippos and tie dye everywhere! The staff are very friendly, and the service was quick. Stopped by for lunch today and the restaurant was not busy at all. And it really should be. I've had a "nacho itch" that's needed scratching for some time, and this place definitely took care of that. We started with the grilled corn on the cob, which was grilled to perfection and slathered in a delicious crema sauce. Four bucks for an ear of corn might seem steep, but I'll tell you what - it's totally worth it. We followed it up with the (bleep) hole nachos, which had jerk chicken and mango salsa. I don't know if it's because I was hungry, but this might have been my favorite dish of my trip to Myrtle Beach this year. The jerk chicken was flavorful and juicy, and the mango salsa had the sweet/spicy balance perfect. Huge portion, perfect for sharing. I didn't really need to order another dish, but I can't resist ordering fish tacos when I see them on the menu, if only to compare them to legit fish tacos from back home in California. I ordered one, grilled (they're offered grilled, blackened, or fried), with a soft corn tortilla (instead of flour). In other words, basically how it'd be served in California. And surprisingly, this one held its own. The grilled fish tasted delicately fresh, the corn tortilla was decent, and the lettuce/spicy citrus mayo added a nice cool crunch. (Note to Nacho Hippo: step up the corn tortilla and this would be pretty close to perfect.) In short, this place has earned a spot in our regular rotation of places to eat in Myrtle Beach. It's off the main drag, but there's lots of parking (adjacent free parking garage for Market Common). Definite recommend. read more

Loved this place. We're moving to the area in June, and will definitely be regulars. I love all the different varieties of tacos they have. They really have something for everyone. The only downside was that their $3 margarita was pretty watered down. The food though, it's amazing! Their atmosphere is also pretty cool. Had an excellent time at Nacho Hippo! The portions are generous and packed with flavor. If you like fried pickles you must try the fried banana peppers as an app! Friendly, accommodating staff make you feel welcome. Recently expanded square footage was much needed as restaurant is always somewhat full. Can now handle large parties, birthdays, teams etc in separate room. Full menu here unlike airport location is good and they've re priced so dainty diners can order a 'single' portion of nachos. The 'shareable' size is the original and the way my family likes nachos a must. $3 margaritas all day unless you opt for premium. Fun kids menu and choices.
