A bug on my Grilled Chicken Sandwich Meal

I went to take a bite of my chicken sandwich and there was a bag on my lettuce so I left the Sam's parking lot where I parked at and I went back in the line so I can get a refund nasty

The establishment was large and clean. The staff was very welcoming and extremely patient, especially staff member named Rachelly (I believe that was her name, she had a cow shirt on which was cute). She saw our daughter was frustrated and she took her time explaining the menu and what our vegan daughter can and cannot have (which is a rarity in customer service at fast food chains). Outstanding customer service. The food was good.

Very friendly staff , I am in town for work and had 3 different people tell me to go here for comfort food . Fried chicken on point Mash potato's were instant so that was my least favorite . Luckily I saw a packed place on Mr. Joe White Avenue called Simply Southern Smokehouse. Place looked legit and had a full parking lot so I pulled in. There is only one way in and once you get in, the cashier is on the right with the $15 all you can eat buffet right next to it. The $15 also included all you can drink soft drinks, water and sweet tea. I paid my money and grabbed a plate and ran right up to the buffet. They start out light with vegetables and sides, working up to the main courses of fried chicken, fried fish, pulled pork, smoked chicken and some hot wings. After that, they had some mac & cheese, and then the desserts which was blueberry cobbler, peach cobbler, homemade banana pudding...and a couple of other things. I started off with some broad beans, stewed okra and tomatoes, smoked chicken and hot wings. I brought my plate and my silverware to an empty table, which was getting hard to find as the place was so packed and then went up to fetch me a glass of water to wash it down with. They serve Pepsi products and of course sweet tea but I was going to save my calories for dessert. The place was clean, well lit and the seating was well designed with booths along the wall and tables in the center... and plenty of room between the tables. Once seated I dug right in. The broad beans were excellent. Done right and full of flavor. The stewed tomatoes and okra, although cook correctly was a bit bland for my liking. The smoked chicken was excellent and I used a bit of the golden SC BBQ sauce on it...great...and homemade. The hot wings were the real deal meaty and moist with a nice kick. I finished the plate in about five minutes. Time for round two. On my second trip up, I put some collard greens, lima beans, a piece of fried chicken and a piece of fried fish on the fresh plate. As I sat down to eat, I put a bit of hot vinegar sauce on the collard greens and dug in. The collards were excellent and the homemade vinegar hot sauce gave it a bit of a kick and bite. The Lima beans were soft and loaded with flavor. I then moved on to the fried chicken, which was cooked correctly with the skin crispy and well battered and the meat moist on the inside. That said, it was bland. Given how well the beans were seasoned I was surprised. Same thing with the fish, but they had a real good house sauce for it which gave it a nice flavor and saved it, but overall both the fried chicken and the fried fish were bland. I then went up for a plate number three and realized I was not gonna be able to eat anymore mains, which was a shame since the pulled pork looked great... It will have to wait for the next time I come. I did, however leave a bit of room for dessert and I'm glad I did . The banana pudding was delicious with a full banana taste and 'Nilla wafers on top and bottom adding a bit of crunch. I only had enough room for one of the cobbler so I chose peach and it did not disappoint. Nice and warm with a sweet peach flavor and tasty crumbles. I wanted more but controlled myself. As I got up to leave, I placed five dollars on the table for the cleanup guy who was hustling and keeping the place neat and tidy. I then looked around and noticed this was a real local spot full of people from Myrtle Beach. You have families, elderly people, young people, construction workers and people from local businesses. For $15 it cannot be beat. Not only will I be back again but I plan on bringing some of my friends from up north who are going to love this place...plus I gotta try that pulled pork and Mac and cheese...if the fried chicken and fish have more seasoning, I'll up them to 5 stars.

I tend to be more on a high protein - low carb plan these days. We were already at Broadway at the Beach and I thought BBQ might work well so we headed over toward Sweet Carolina's. I've been there once before and kinda remembered liking the place and thought they had some funny signage to boot. We got there, walked up the ramp and "waited to be seated". There was one person ahead of us and they had already been there for 5 minutes. The place had some customers but it was still early and far from packed. Well, we waited and waited for a good 10 minutes until we were seated by a friendly hostess who turned out to also be only 1 of 2 wait staff working. I now remembered my last experience here which included good food but a long wait to get seated. We got to a nice, clean booth with a good view of the place and and started to look at the menu as the waitress hustled up a red wine for my dad and a seltzer water for me. When she returned we gave her our order which included a spicy chicken gumbo app for me followed by a three meat plate of smoked turkey, smoked BBQ chicken and ribs for me and a two meat plate of pulled smoked chicken and pulled pork for my dad. I ordered green beans as my side and my dad ordered hand cut fries. After a few minutes the food surprisingly appeared rather quickly. I was expecting a longer wait time because of how long it took to get seated but the food came out fast. It was hot and smelled great. My father commented, saying "they give you a lot of food in this place"...and he sure was right. We dove right in. I started with the spicy chicken gumbo which was spicy, hearty and tasty with bits of smoked sausage and shredded chicken. It was a meal in itself. I then went after the main event and started with the smoked turkey. It had a nice hickory smoked taste but was a tad dry. The chicken was much better. It was moist, smoky and fell off the bone. The BBQ sauce was outstanding with a bit of a kick to it. The ribs were soft, moist and smokey. The green beans were also tasty with hints of pork and a nice smoked flavor. My dad loved his pulled smoked chicken and even liked the pork(he's not a big pork eater these days!). He said it "has a nice flavor" and that it was "great". It was soft, tender and juicy. He loved the fries(always his favorite part of the meal). This was most I've seen him eat in one sitting in quite a while so I know he enjoyed it. We declined dessert as we were both stuffed. By this time the restaurant has become crowded so I asked for the check to open up our booth for other customers The check came quickly and I paid. Overall, the food was very good, the place was clean and had a nice "country vibe" and after the initial long wait to be seated the wait staff was excellent, attentive and very friendly. Whenever, I'm in the mood for BBQ at Broadway on the Beach, I'll be heading here.

Chicken and fries were good / hot, the mac n cheese was just warm, however my kiddo would eat it cold anyway. The rest was not so good. Ordered the bbq platter with baked beans. The beans pretty much came right out of the can. The BBQ was cold and dry but there was a good portion, not that it made up for the disappointment. The place was clean and I liked the vibe but overall will not return there are too many other places that are way better around here.

We were promptly seated and drink orders were taken. The waiter reappeared about 15 mins later with drinks and cheese rolls and took the table's order. We settled on the Aspen family meal which consisted of 2 meats and 4 sides. We chose smothered pork tenderloin and fried chicken along with mac 'n cheese, collard greens, fried okra and candied yams. Fried chicken was awesome, crispy, with an assortment of dark and white meat pieces. We were looking for a knife because of the pork tenderloin and realized you don't need it. It was that tender. You could cut it with a fork and it too was awesome. Everyone raved about all the side items except the mac & cheese it was a bit on the bland side so it was not our favorite. There was no need for a refill of any of the food. The first round was very ample sized and everyone left very satisfied. And if I have a bit of feedback, our waiter was not attentive unlike the waitress serving the tables in our same area. He was didn't bother to come back and see if we needed a refill on any of the drinks or the food. The only disappointing thing was they no longer offer you a small sample size dessert to finish up your meal. It's been a while since I've dined here so I'm not sure how long that change has been in place. However, we understand the food industry continues to be impacted by the current economy. Overall, the restaurant was very clean, including the restrooms. It's a nice place to feed a large family who hates buffets.

Will say the area, the location, the draw and the atmosphere is fantastic, but not the food. Our family left disappointed by the overall quality of the meal, particularly given the establishment's reputation and the high price point. The cost for 4 people exceeded our expectations an amount that felt disproportionate to the overall experience provided. The service was adequate. Our waitress was courteous, but could have kept up on our drink refills. The food fell significantly short of our heightened anticipation. Dishes arrived at the table within minutes of ordering, far quicker than would be consistent with individual dish preparations. This is served family style with options of your main courses and sides. The okra was good, but had some very hard pieces. I bit down on one that was so hard it could have broken a tooth. Green beans were decent, but extremely salty. The creamed potatoes were the best thing in my opinion and we were able to be served both the white & brown gravy's. The fried chicken was so dry and uneatable, with extremely minimal flavor and texture that did not meet standard expectations for Southern-style preparation. We realized after the fact: you can request the chicken parts. The macaroni & cheese tasted mushy offering little depth of homemade character. The biscuits were also very dry. They looked great, but tasted bland. The fried fish & tartar sauce was probably the most memorable dish. However, not everyone in our party had it because they do not like it. There's other options for "main" choices, but you'll have to compromise as a group. You'll have to do the same as far as the sides too! I would not recommend Paula Deen's Family Restaurant based on this visit and would advise potential patrons to consider other options for Southern comfort food while in Myrtle Beach. There are many more options within this great broad-walk complex. That said, I would suggest shopping in the gift store located in the downstairs of the building, as there are lots of merchandise that represents Paula Deen far better than her eatery. * If you happen to be a Food Network FAN (like I am). Flavor Town is coming to the other side of town. Location will be at the Myrtle Beach Mall & will open in June 2026*

The first Cook Out restaurant opened in Greensboro, NC in 1989. They opened their first non-NC store in SC in 2010, and has continued to grow till now reaching over 360 locations around the South. All their ground beef is delivered fresh to each store, adhering to their motto of "Always Fresh, Never Frozen". We visited this location, in the heart of the tourist zone in Myrtle Beach. Only their drive-thru and walk-up are open, with their dining room continuing to be closed (though they have a few picnic tables in their parking lot). They are known for their burgers and milkshakes, a formula used by practically every successful burger shack. Their combo meals are called 'trays', so we got two regular trays. First ($7.99) consisted of a Big Dbl with grilled onions and cheese (+0.55), added tomato (+0.10). The sides were white cheddar bites (tasted similar to fried cheese curds) and fries (skin-on). I upgraded the beverage from a soda to a Oreo Mint Shake (+1.50). Added a side of hush puppies for $1.99. Second ($7.99) was 3 chicken strips, cole slaw, and onion rings with peanut butter fudge upgrade (+1.50). It didn't take too long for the order to completed, bringing it back to eat in our kitchenette back at the resort. It was plenty of food, with the burger being exactly how I like it. The shakes were very thick, and easily savable for later...we ate it like ice cream. All the rest were solid, with generous portions...it's what you would expect from any cafeteria that has a good deep fryer, very good for the price. The cole slaw was just finely diced cabbage which added some needed fiber to the meal. And the hush puppy pieces were very dense, two were plenty for me...it's the ultimate cheap filler food.
