No hipster jive here; just old time donuts with simple toppings and fillings. -- Honeydipped Donut: Similar to Dunkin but softer and fresher. Good fluffiness. Light in the glaze, but full coverage and tasty. Only negative was that it was just a bit chilled from the AC (no refrigerator condensation). Overall, a solid donut. -- Chocolate Jelly: Imagine a Boston Cream, hold the cream, add raspberry jelly. Good combo, good execution, good donut. -- Coffee: It's New England Coffee Company. I went to N and J's at the end of May to gather information regarding the cost of donuts, muffins and coffee for a Camper Club event on the 4th of July. I received the quote and brought it to a Camper's meeting for approval. It was overwhelming approved. We wanted to support a local business. The quote was higher than the local donut/coffee chains but everyone agreed that we would support a local business. I went and placed the order on Monday, June 29th. I ordered and paid in full for 10 dozen donuts, 3 dozen muffins, 5 boxes of coffee, in spite of a price increase on June 15th that I was originally unaware of and not informed of. At 4:30 on Monday, after placing and paying for the order I received a call telling me that they needed to charge me a $50 service fee because their bakers charge them an additional fee for large orders. I said that I'd be happy to get a refund and pay less at one of the local chains. Does that even make sense? I explained that I had gone in and asked for a quote on the prices and I had approval of the club to purchase from the even though the prices were higher. Eventually I was told they'd waive the fee. I picked up the order on Saturday. My ordered was stacked up on the front counter, all the boxes, coffee, etc. I took everything that was ready, on the counter and asked three times if I had everything. I was told I did. While there I purchased four holiday decorated donuts and asked for an additional American flag because I have four grandchildren and they would all want a flag. The counter help gave me an attitude and went in the back and asked for a flag. The person who gave it to her made a few comments and gave me a dirty look. I paid the $14.00 for my four donuts and left a generous tip. I got half way back and received a text message and a phone call that part of my order was left behind. I didn't leave it behind, it was not given to me and the person had an attitude when I went in to get the box that was left behind. I asked how did it get left behind, she smirked and said, it was on the back counter. Someone obviously put it there. I was also informed that all the boxes need to be returned. This means I need to drive back, yet again to drop off the boxes. Supporting a local business should be an enjoyable experience. This was not the least bit enjoyable. The donuts, muffins and coffee were good, but the attitude(s) and treatment leave a lot to be desired. As far as I'm concerned we won't be supporting this local business in the future. read more

I guess my family and me are in the minority here but we have tried their donuts twice and did not like them. The first time they were pretty dry and the most recent time they tasted like fry oil. They have a gazillion coffee flavors. Sometimes I feel the coffee flavors don't shine through enough, but I've found some coffee flavors that I like (cookie crunch & banana foster), sometimes the banana foster is a little bland though, it depends on the day. They have a cool giant donut for cheap. I've had it once for fun, & shared it with a friend. I really like their pizza bagels & sandwiches. I get sausages put in my pizza bagel, yum yum. Always wanted to give this place a shot, so my siblings & I went for a visit. The normal size donut overall was very good, but we went during the afternoon around 3pm so there wasn't much donut options left, so I recommend going early. On a road trip from Ma to Ny my boyfriend and I stopped at N&J Donuts for some snackage. I got a strawberry frosted donut and he got a blueberry muffin. My donut was lovely it was soft and fresh and the frosting was beyond delicious, clearly made with real strawberries and not imitation flavor. My boyfriends blueberry muffin was offered toasted with butter, it looked and smelled amazing. He said it was one of the best he's ever had! I love everything about this place; A wide selection of amazing fresh doughnuts (lemon doughnut holes are to die for), awesome delicious breakfast sandwiches (the croissants are so buttery and soft), lots and lots of coffee flavors (try the banana foster), personable and fast service, and a homey little hole-in-the-wall atmosphere, complete with old timer regulars having long discussions over coffee and papers at the diner style breakfast counter.
