Pros: -Very solid classic donuts -Incredibly fresh even at 11AM on Sunday (they open at 5AM) -Inexpensive -Frostings/glazes don't leave a sugary aftertaste Cons: -Parking lot is confusing (it's a drive through and some people park on the side but there are no lines) -- $3.50 for 3 donuts Double Chocolate Chocolate cake donut with a slightly crisp exterior and a soft interior, covered with chocolate frosting. Very fresh. Boston Cream Standard yeast donut filled with vanilla custard and topped with chocolate frosting. Also super fresh. Honey Dip Super light and fluffy yeast donut with the perfect amount of glaze. Not too sweet. Overall, not mind-blowing, but a super solid donut stop--even better than Dunkin' because none of the frostings/glazes was cloyingly sweet. read more

This location in the chain of gourmet donuts sucks. I asked for a bagel toasted twice and it was not toasted at all. There was no line here but the line up the street at Dunkin spilled into the street. A girl on foot ran up to my car and asked my order. She wasn't friendly and definitely shouldn't be the face of the brand if you can't even be pleasant with the customers. As I asked for the bagel toasted twice I could tell I was not going to get it toasted twice which is funny because her running up to my car would've given them ample time to complete the order. No, there wasn't a huge line and it wasn't busy. I wasn't holding anyone or wanting my bagel actually toasted. It was wrapped in aluminum foil like that was supposed to impress me. No it was not hot despite the aluminum foil. I doubt they toasted it at all. Inside the bag no napkins just an untoasted bagel wrapped in aluminum foil with only one side having cream cheese which was presented in a chunk not even spread out across the bagel which in my world is standard practice. Upon first sip of my go to coffee order (which I usually order at other gourmet donut locations) there is some thing that was off. It taste like the syrup is not right or the flavor is past it's prime. I will definitely never return to the score my donuts again because not only was the coffee weird the food was not worth it. read more

Didn't try the donuts, but my friend and I stopped over for some coffee on our way to Trout Brook Park, and HOT DAMN - their iced coffees are Amazing *0* we ordered a hazelnut and a samoa iced coffee and they're so tasty and well balanced. Their coffee ideally is worth 5 stars, but because their food is 0 stars, it evens out to 3 stars. Something is VERY wrong with their bacon. I am not sure if it is old, or just such a low quality but it is dark brown and chewy. I have never been the one to pass up bacon, but this bacon makes me want to vomit. NOOOOO ABSOLUTELY NOOOOO 3 days.. 3 DAYS of straight food poisoning from either the food or the poor/nonexistant sanitary conditions. Bacon on my avocado BLT was so gross that my internal organs said STOP STOP STOP after 3 bites. The avocados were not even close to ripe and cut into big , oblong chunks for a croissant sandwich... yeah i guess slices wouldn't have made sense... and me and my bf both still got violently ill for DAYS. He had sausage and cheese - which looked green and white in color but both of us were starving so we choked down what we could only to IMMEDIATELY regret it not an hour later. We both had to stop on our way to Boston TWICE to use the bathroom. Made the rest of the weekend just awful, cutting our plans short super early just to come home and hug porcelain for 3 days. Don't be fooled by the huge coffee list either - the flavors all taste off and the cups always taste like they were used to store garlic bagels inside them first. I always get sucked into the gravitational pull of hype. When I visited CA, I visited that burger place. But more locally, there is a donut and coffee shop that has a few locations in the Northern Worcester County area, and they just expanded by opening a store in West Boylston, which is just minutes from the North side of Worcester on Route 12. First off, the coffee is good. Is it great? It's very good. Even a non-coffee friendly friend of mine once recommended it, years before this location opened. My sister-in-law talked about the French Toast flavoring, so I was intrigued to try it. Since then, I've visited a few times and even had a sandwich. The food is great! I had a butternut donut, which was big and beautiful, unlike the donuts of a major coffee chain in the area. The bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant was also quite tasty. Now a few negatives. The drive thru. Its a bit slow. I think they do a great job making your coffee and food, but there is no intercom, so the whole process takes place at one window. The parking lot is small. I came here on a Saturday and it was a zoo and a little bit dangerous. I don't fault the shop as much as I do the the town for approving this. However, the owners should try to come up with a way to make it a little less dangerous. Finally, the staff. On one visit, I mistakenly didn't read the sign that said "order sandwich first" and I felt I got a little attitude for that. I can understand it, as it is busy, but I'm not sure that was the best first impression to receive. But a few weeks later I returned, and they were talking about how that big national chain has a new flavor, and they went on to bash it. In addition, one worker said "I hate donuts. I love them, but hate them." In the mean time, for just 2 people ahead of me, it took about 7 minutes -- much longer than the national chain would. They have such a good and promising product, but to bash the food you serve and the competitor is not appealing, especially when that amount of time goes by to get "fast food." I think this is a 4 or 5 star place, for a fast food donut and coffee shop, but as it is now, I'd give it 3 1/2 for now but with a good recomendation. read more

Nothing sadder than walking into a donut shop thats out of donuts. Its like going to a bank and theyre like "sorry bro, we'ze out of money." Shouldnt happen. I come here for one reason: they sell vanilla cream donuts. Dunkin Donuts USED to sell amazing ones but good luck finding them. Found them in one location in NYC and apparently some old school towns around Lowell still rock it like its 1978. Donuts are good but they always run out. Wonderful, hand cut, authentic doughnuts! My first job was actually at this same location when it was the Donut Chateau. The owner was a self-centered, bombastic, cheapskate of a jerk but he made great hand cut donuts. These donuts are just as good. In fact, they rival my previous, still-existing favorite, the Donut Café. They have a wide selection of donuts, the staff are very friendly and the prices are good. If you truly like doughnuts, and you want an authentic cake donut, skip the Dunkin kind-of-like-a-donut that aren't worth the calories, and treat yourself to the real deal. read more

Great Donuts! I was visiting family for the holidays and saw this donut shop. Almost didn't give it a try because of the negative reviews. I am glad I did. At 11am on a thursday they had a large selection of donuts. Even better, a dozen was only $8. The donuts were better and bigger than the donuts from the chain across the street. I was excited to go to the newest Gourmet Donuts location but I felt very let down by the service. The drive-thru had one car in front of us and they were clearly someone the 2 employees knew as they were chatting and giggling long after the coffee had been delivered. My friend and I almost gave up and left the line. Not the usual service I expect at a Gourmet drive-thru. We specifically asked for cookie crumbles in our coffee and despite saying they could definitely do that, they totally forgot them. We didn't want to go back as they were slow to begin with and the coffee was still tasty but not paying attention on your very first day isn't a good sign of things to come. Price was great as always but the wait and order mistake wasn't very good. read more

I'm an iced coffee fanatic and drink it year round. Due to the proclivity of coffee places to fill the cup with ice, I typically ask for 'not too much ice' (or 'less ice' as it's know in coffee circles). Anytime I ask for less ice at Gourmet, they regardless fill the cup up. It's completely stuffed with ice and I end up with a small coffee in a large cup. I asked the server 'I asked for less ice and this is full.' She replied 'yeah we have to fill it. We aren't allowed to put less ice in.' Ok. wow, went there at 1PM. One person in front of me took a five minutes to get her order. I ordered a breakfast sandwich on a croissant. I was told they were out of croissants because they had a rush due to the cooler weather. What kind of place - who has a limited breakfast menu to begin with - runs out half way through the business day. This goes into management issues. I recently went to Gourmet Donuts with my kids after a doctors appointment. Yes, I get the irony. This place seems slightly better than a typical doughnut shop. The variety of doughnuts were good, but I wouldn't say "Gourmet". Just your basic fare. But they did have a peanut butter cup doughnut which was delicious. They had an apricot doughnut too, which has been getting trendy lately. Pretty standard fare otherwise. But I was kind of hoping " Gourmet" meant that there might be a bacon flavor, or Oreo, or s'mores. The quality was good. Definitely fresh. My daughter got a coffee roll/cinnamon bun and it was good sized and fresh. I got a flavored iced coffee and it was good, but it came in a Styrofoam cup. I should have looked to see it it was that special Styrofoam that's more eco-friendly, but I didnt. Plastic cups are fine for iced coffee and we can recycle them too. Didn't take away from the tastiness though. I get sugar in it and although I didn't see them make it, it had no sugar crystals along the bottom of the cup. Always a plus with iced coffee. Service was good. I had a guy who was more than accommodating considering the kids (and myself) couldn't make up our minds. There was a lot of foot traffic in and out at the time (about 930am on a Monday) and the dive thru had a constant line. Makes me think neighbors really like it. As for the drive thru, which I never use anywhere, the parking lot is small and awkward, and there may be a slight jam at times, but oh well. As a local doughnut shop, I give it 4 doughnut holes out of 5, but no one's coming from miles away to go here. read more

So, this morning before work my girlfriend and I decided to get coffees here, as we do sometimes. We took separate vehicles and when ordering I told the woman at the window that I'd be buying the coffee for the person behind me in line (my girlfriend). I gave her cash for the two coffees and a breakfast sandwich and drove off. This evening I asked my girlfriend how her free coffee was this morning. Well, it wasn't free at all. When she drove of to the window the two women inside were snickering to each other. After they took her order, she paid in full. No mention was made that I had paid for the coffee. So, after the snotty service and the eye rolling, the lady pocketed money that she probably thought was meant for a good deed to a stranger behind me. It was only a few dollars, but if they're stealing good deed money, I can only imagine what else they're skimming. Needless to say, after two years of tolerating the crappy service because of the tasty coffee, we will no longer be patrons at this place. read more

This Gourmet Donuts location is consistently not good. I absolutely love the Worcester location, where my cup of coffee is always amazing. At this location in West Boylston, I get a terrible cup of coffee, every single time. I decided today that I will not be wasting any more money here to take 1 sip of a gross coffee and pour the rest down the drain. My coffee literally tasted like vomit. I don't know what it is, but the two locations are seriously night and day! The menu's are the same but the coffee tastes NOTHING alike. Save your money and don't try a coffee from here! Although the drive-thru can be slow, I appreciate the fact that there is one. If you're in a rush and there's already a car waiting, I would just go inside. Coffee is great! I tried this place for the first time today and the food and coffee were excellent. When I first pulled up I went through the the drive thru and it took forever. I was beginning to wonder if it was even worth it, but I heard great reviews about the coffee and sandwiches here so I waited for about 5 minutes. When I got to the window I ordered a flavored coffee (cookies and creme, I'm a huge Oreo enthusiast) and a breakfast sandwhich. The coffee was so tasty and well mixed (no sugar on the bottom) and the breakfast sandwhich was hot, fresh, and incredibly good. My only complaints are the long drive though wait and it's kind of pricey, but I would gladly go back here. read more

I NEVER yelp, but I needed to today. I used to bring my own cup to Gourmet, as I think styrofoam is a horrible product and I figure if I drink 1 or 2 coffees a day, this is my way of doing my part for the environment when I buy my daily coffee. I was told today I couldn't use my own cup (I assume due to size variations), the woman serving me was very sweet about it but said they're enforcing this policy. I love seeing the gals at gourmet they are all lovely, and I enjoy the coffee, but they have lost a customer in me and my husband (and we are regulars, 2-3 times a day regulars). I don't support companies that don't at least make an attempt at caring about the environment. If you don't care, at least let your customers care. Way to be stuck in the 80s Gourmet Donuts, styrofoam is TERRIBLE for the environment. Owning a business of my own I was willing to swallow the price boost of $.10 to get recyclable or biodegradable products. This is was a CHEAP decision on their part. Cya Gourmet. read more

On Tuesday Oct. 6 1pm i went into Gourmet Donuts and ordered a large hot coffee, but instead got a lukewarm 3/4 cup of coffee, and verbally abused when i asked if i could get it filled to where any coffee place would, i thought doing this would warm my lukewarm coffee, and figured they'd have another pot brewing, i was wrong. the owners are always so nice, i wonder though, if he would allow her to speak to me the way she did. i was told "if you want your coffee hot, go across the street to Dunkin Donuts" and thats exactly what i'll do. The thing is, in my head, it gives every Gourmet Donuts a bad name, and now on my way home though i drive by a different Gourmet D, ill keep on driving. I wonder though, if it was too much just to ask for my coffee hot? i was very kind about it not making a big deal, but thats what she wanted, i didnt know serving hot coffee wasnt part of her job. if not, what is it exactly? read more
