This review is for my wife, who doesn't go on Yelp. . . . But I do. This is her review. Service, Service, Service! I tried them twice, bad both times. Day One, I went in and ordered a bacon egg & cheese sandwich. I asked if I could substitute avocado for the cheese. They said no as the avocado is more expensive. I get it, no big deal. I ask for a bacon egg sandwich (no cheese). They take my order along with my coffee and such and I go about my business. I go back to my Air bnb and lo and behold it's an egg only sandwich. I chalk it up to talking about avocados more than I do their listening skills and I move on. Day Two, I go in to give them a second chance. I order a Harvest Bowl & 2 coffees. I pay in cash. I get my cups, fill up my coffees and wait. After a few minutes, I realize that several people have come in, ordered, served and left in front of me. I go up to the counter and ask about my order and find out it was never put in. Because I paid in cash there was no trail. It's now well over 20 minutes and the person who took my order would not even lift her head to acknowledge that she served me. I call someone else over and ask about what to do and they treat me like I'm looking for a free meal. (FYI, visually I am a successful older female). Once they retook my order I quickly went next door to the jewelry shop as I had some time sensitive business there. When I returned, bowl still not ready, but was on the stove. While I was waiting I asked to speak with the manager. Suddenly nobody wanted to be the manager. Once someone came forward, I asked if this type of service was normal. I also asked if they compensate customers who have been ignored. He THEN HAD THE NERVE TO SAY, 'WELL, YOU'RE GETTING THE BOWL FOR FREE'! There were places I wanted him to put said compensation. Never, Never, NEVER say words like that to any customer. The sad part, the food is good. The place is cute. The customer service takes all that away and more. Caitlin, you have a good thing. Don't let your employees ruin it. When I mentioned your business in the jewelry store, they avoid your place too for the same reason. read more

I desperately was in need of coffee on our way out of town after staying locally and saw this cute little coffee shop and decided to stop. My husband and I both ordered something, I did a coldbrew (you have to add your own cream and sugar) and he got a hot coffee. The staff was incredibly unfriendly. We both did not care for our coffee, not sure if it was an off day or what. The café reminded me of old school panera. Can't say I'd go back if I was in the area though. read more

We've never eaten here, but the bagels and loaves of multigrain bread are outstanding, and reasonably priced. We always get them when we are at Stone Pond in the summer, and bring some home to DC. read more

The bagel is always good, they know what they are doing. The service is friendly and fast, even when they are busy. The set up of the cafe is so cute, they have good bits of art and little bit of information around how they source their food locally. We love that! I always get the Lox Sandwich, the smoked salmon is fresh and cream cheese is smooth. I used to love treating myself to an 'egg & chedddar on a lightly toasted Works bagel' from here on my way in to work once in awhile. It was always great. I don't know what happened, but the last 2 times were really disappointing. Today on my regular order there was NO cheese and the bagel edges were burned enough that I had to tear them off. So a dry egg on a dry bagel with no ch see to help it. I also think The Works may have changed their everything bagel edges it's boring now- not enough garlic onion or salt. All sesame & poppy seeds. For $6 I can get 2 breakfast sandwiches of better quality from any drive through. I'm so disappointed. Sorry, but I won't be back. read more

I always enjoy the food here, though this is the first time I've reviewed. Today I got an egg and spinach breakfast sandwhich on a bagel and it was delicious. I'm a long time enjoyer of the berry-licious. I love that they have outdoor seating now. I don't think they did pre-pandemic. It's pleasant to sit both indoors or outdoors. I love that you can skip the line, order ahead on the app, and magically the order is there on the To-Go shelf. This time we were in Keene for the day and my boss preordered from The Works. I went to the take out area where it was busy and asked to pick up the order. They were a little confused I think mostly because the order was placed the day before and how busy they were but with a little help, they found the order. The place was nice and looked well kept. They have a wide variety of food and it all looked fresh and delicious. I'm sure most people can find something on interest there. I ended up with the turkey avocado sandwich. It was very good. The sourdough bread was great and the sandwich itself very flavorful. It was also a huge portion. When I saw how big it was, I knew I was only going to be able to eat half of it at a time. I enjoyed every bite, wrapped up the other half and had it for lunch the next day, again, much to my enjoyment. Smells lovely in here! We tried the coffee muffin which was tasty, and I had a half sandwich of the tuna melt. It's with Vermont cheddar on sourdough, and has some celery, apple, cranberries and celery in it. We ordered half a dozen bagels to take home and try. I'll bet they're great- they're the traditional boil and baked bagels. They also make their hot chocolate with any milk of your choice- 1% cows milk, half and half, almond and oat milk. The works is all you could ask for in a breakfast/lunch cafe. Keene lacks good breakfast places and I believe this is the best place to have breakfast or take it to go in Keene. The other options are basic diner style breakfast places. Everything at works is fresh and has a bit of flair. I recommend the jalapeño cheddar bagel. read more

Now that I'm actively looking for healthier meal options, I'm always pleased when somewhere I've never really thought about has great items on their menu and the Works definitely has a great variety of good options. They have a huge selection of salads, sandwiches made on good breads and my favorite - quinoa bowls. My dining partner and I ordered a quinoa bowl to split. We got the smoked salmon bowl and it was awesome. Shout out to the employee who arranged the items in the form of a smiley face - too cute. This bowl came with a good amount of smoked salmon, two hard boiled eggs with pesto on top, avocado and a lot of diced tomatoes on top of a really nice quinoa base. It was huge and very filling. We split it and were super full for the rest of the day. It does take awhile to make compared to other items obviously so next time I would likely order ahead just to save time. As a transplant from sour dough bread county, I was in a panic to find a good loaf and The Works is the bomb! Excellent sour dough! Very polite staff. Took over 15 minutes to get a salad and they really weren't busy. Got the mango pineapple chicken salad. Ingredients were fresh and delicious but was like a teaspoon of mango salsa which was mostly tomatoes . Seasoned Chicken was really good, thinly sliced. Small size for the $10 price tag. Great spot for either breakfast or lunch. Just moved to the area and like it so much we have had breakfast here every time that we've eaten breakfast out. Their bagels are so good. I usually have the Lox bagel sandwich on a toasted everything bagel or a chocolate croissant and coffee. The smoothies and salads are also good. Oh and the special Mac and cheese are so fantastic!
