Tasty bagels with a few interesting varieties, although I usually just get a breakfast sandwich on an everything. Everything bagels don't really have "everything" but they have a bunch of stuff on them like salt and poppy seeds. I recommend their scallion and bacon cream cheese as well. On the downside the bagels are a little small, and they microwave their eggs which is a little weird. I say just get a griddle and fry them, right? Anyways they have some nice baked goods too. Also they have day old bagels, and "doggie" bagels which are like older bagels that are really stale. I would say stick with the fresh ones though they are easier on your teeth! PS if you were wondering, its not in an actual mill, they just call it that because they make bagels there sort of like a mill makes stuff like cloth or paper. Rude. When a customer says they got the wrong order, listen. Don't look at them like they are evil.

Here's the issue. The young lady behind the counter is so focused on taking orders she is unable to stop and fulfill orders placed. This morning I ordered breakfast with a coffee. The coffee pots were empty. Instead of taking 30 seconds to grind the beans and start a pot she continued to take orders. I ate my breakfast then went back to the coffee dispenser. Coffee was brewed behind the counter but the young lady didn't bother to come fill the dispenser even though I was waiting in plain view. She then walked away and began to talk with another employee. I then asked for a refund. Another person, assuming it was the manager or owner, then said the coffee is right there we can fill your cup. I said I would prefer a refund as I had an appointment to go to and needed to leave. This is when this person told me in a sarcastic tone that it would take longer to do a refund. I told her I prefer a refund. Management is not easy but it's not rocket science. I would have offered constructive criticism here but after the rude tone I decided it was best to just leave. Employees taking orders should prioritize orders taken. If this means 30 seconds of time away from the register that's acceptable. This isn't the first time issues have occurred here. Every time I order the same young lady behind the counter never gives me a cup for the coffee. And when I say never it's never. I get my food and have to go ask for the cup. read more

It deeply saddens me to write this as it's been a town staple for years. Today I ordered an everything with veggies cream cheese. The bagels have been getting smaller for years now. This one was tiny and hard. Like day old hard. For a minute I thought they gave me regular cream cheese as I didn't see veggies at first. Upon inspection I found them. Barely there and no flavor. I paid $8.15 I think for a bagel and cream cheese, that's it. The original Bagel Mill was much higher quality for much lower price.You could see so many veggies in the cream cheese and the bagels were much larger. I don't think I'll be going back. read more

Lovely ambiance, nice sunny space with live music in the morning. Good bagels, extremely generous and delicious cream cheese schmear. Service, on the other hand, was slow and the gaggle of young kids who work here seemed confused about people's orders. The Bagel Mill has been our go to bagel place for years, like 20 years....so I was very disappointed last week when I picked up 2 dozen bagels to go. There was some sticker shock about the price which was $19 dollars + change per dozen. That would have been ok, with prices being what they are are these days. However the quality of the bagels seemed to be more of a "day old vibe" than fresh. Just saying that if you charge top dollar then people expect the best that you can offer, not something that even your dog can't chew. read more

Staff is basic and you'll have a normal experience. I got a tomato and cheese on an everything bagel, the bagel was great just wish the tomato I got was a thicker cut( definitely ask for thick cut tomato). The coffee and peach tea were solid. 32+ bucks for a medium coffee 2 scones and 2 bagel sandwhiches. the bagels were rather hard to bite into , i got an avacado BLT and which it tasted good it was small. his was a lox and cream cheese , there was only cream cheese on half of his sandwhich and he said the lox tasted better at the cheap local grocery store vs this sandwhich. the scones were alot drier than most n had almost no flavor as well. as for the size considering the price its a massive disapointment. the photo's on their website and facebook page show picture's twice the size as what we got when we ordered , to me thats false advertisement. i could have spent the same amount or less at a local subway and got a more filling lunch. read more

The bagel mill has been a staple in my home since we moved to Peterborough in 2004. We get all our bagels for the week here, and don't get grocery store bagels as they pale in comparison. The bagels have always been top quality, which I guess is rare in New England. Do you like a lot of everything on your everything bagel? Definitely give this place a visit. The coffee isn't that great, but that's not the point of your visit to the bagel mill. It's a fresh baked bagel with delicious topping and cream cheese choices. During my trip to Peterborough last week this was my favorite place I ate at. The atmosphere is so cute and relaxing and they have a vegan cashew cream cheese option which was amazing. The first time I got the pumpernickel with cucumber and tomato and it was really good. The only thing is that the other reviewers are correct on that the staff is likely to mess up your order. A good selection of well made bagels, foundation for ample cream cheese or one of many considerable sandwiches, makes it a smart choice for lunch. It's got plenty of seating, friendly service, varied beverages, nice art, and a local feel, but it's slightly tricky to find for being a minute off the highway. We haven't sampled the soup, but the salads we've picked have been unimaginative-- discouraging for the gluten-free dietee. For $6.95, this was a rip off. I called them to alert them to this mistake, to which the employer said "we don't give you the hummus and cheese if you don't ask for it." What??? Try the Spinach Garlic Bagel w/ Bacon Scallion cream cheese, it's the best. I'm from Massachusetts but whenever I go to visit my friends in NH or when they come and visit me I gotta have the spinach garlic bagel from Bagel Mill. I would say it's better than Dunkin Donuts for bagels. Plenty of room to sit and eat, hang out with friends or just grab a quick bite and be on your way. Since I haven't physically been there in awhile I can't remember what the prices/service is like but I believe it's decently priced and that the service is pretty friendly and efficient. read more

I have tried to get an everything bagel on six occasions in the last two weeks and every time they are out! Wit the amount of chatter you hear of these bagels, you'd think they're something special. Sure, they're better than Leder's any day, but is that really saying a lot? I will say that while their seating is something to be desired, and the atmosphere is a bit self-indulgent, I can't name a better place in the area to get a bagel-sandwich that compares to what the Mill offers. Well, I am in the area for a week of relaxing visiting a friend. Decided to go here for some coffee and use my laptop. As I do many times in NYC and other places around the country. This place is the first coffee house that told me that my stay of 1:30 was to long due to reserve tables for regular customers. "Regular Customers" what!! At a coffee house offering free Wi-Fi.. Did not know that I had to make reservations, and what constitute a regular customer since I just spent $10.00. I was outrage with the owner coming over to my table and mentioning this to me, and how I did not read the folded piece of paper on the table. Which was on the floor when I got there. One of a kind place. Grew up locally but have since lived in Virginia, Washington, DC, and currently Boston and still have not found a bagel that compares to the Bagel Mill. Growing up, going to the Bagel Mill was our reward for behaving well in church or doing our chores. As a freshman in college in Virginia, my parents brought down two dozen bagels with a couple different containers of cream cheese for my dorm floor and everyone was hooked. I started getting requests to bring back a dozen bagels with cream cheese every time I went home. My go-to bagel/sandwich has changed over the years due to them having so many quality options but my current choice is the "Out of the Box" on a toasted Everything bagel. Loaded up with all the veggies on a solid humus base topped with cheddar cheese and honey dijon mustard. The atmosphere is a great spot for everyone. In a single visit you'll see a family with young children, a group of college kids home for break taking over the couch and wicker chairs, an elderly couple sitting at the fireplace, and a businessman on his laptop in the corner using the free wifi. The Bagel Mill really is a Peterborough staple and the first place I tell people to visit when they're in town. My mother doesn't even care that I stop by the Bagel Mill before coming to the house to see her when I visit. Her only request is that I pick up bagels for the entire family as well. read more

My only complaint would be the wait, 6-7 people in line in front of me or standing around in front of the counter are always a deterrent that send me walking the other way. The wifi is great, I don't have a complaint and the seating area is plenty for the customers here. On one occasion i have observed someone waiting for a sandwich that was never made after 15-20 minutes. A list of apologies and reasons were provide but for me that would tell me if there is more than 3 people in front of me in line that i wouldn't even bother placing an order at the chance that what i ordered wasn't made. Still I personally have never had a bad experience and have always enjoyed what i have got, how quickly my order came up and how friendly the staff is. The reality isn't really another place like this in town so one might say the wait is worth it. A better variety and better quality bagel than anyone else in the area and then some. read more

First time stopping at this nice little spot. I ordered a toasted plain bagel with cream cheese, smoked salmon, tomato, capers, and red onion. They were fast making it and the sandwich had a large amount of salmon, tomato, and cream cheese. The bagel itself was really delicious in of itself. Overall one of the best smoked salmon bagel sandwiches I've had. I also ordered two different iced expresso drinks, a latte and a mocha, both were very nice coffee drinks. It came cold...on white bread...with provolone (not Swiss)...and no mustard. And this is one of their SPECIALITY Sandwiches. Sent it back twice. The first time, they just toasted the bread and slapped on one piece of cold, thick pastrami. I sent back. They popped it in the microwave. I opened it up. The provolone cheese was kind of melted.
