Luau review Unfortunately, had a horrific experience at this Luau. Purchased the VIP package for my family of 5, which was shy of just $2,000. Attempted to check in at 5:15 which is the VIP standard and was told by the hostess to go to the back of the line. While trying to explain I had purchased the VIP package, the original hostess would not acknowledge until another manager was involved. The group had a low customer service standard clearly. Felt racially motivated, so beware people of color! The host tried to make up for it but he was a sassy guy too. The team is clearly tight knit and went out of their way to give our group a poor experience. Would not return to Luau or the Hyatt Regency because of this poor experience. Hard to enjoy a 4 hour Luau when you are treated so terribly from the start. Cheap, low cost production. I do not recommend this Luau. The dancers, music were fine.

Nestled right in the heart of Waikiki, you can escape the hustle and bustle of city life to enjoy an evening of hula without having to take a journey to get to it like other hula shows on the island. Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort & Spa started a new show called Na Lei Aloha. You may be familiar with the Na Lea Terrace as a wedding venue, but they transform the area for this spectacular show. You can come just for the show, but I highly recommend adding on the dinner as well. There is a buffet in the hotel called The Buffet, which is right next to Na Lea Terrace. If you pay for the dinner and show package, you arrive at 5:30 and get to eat at the buffet until 7 pm. Just note that at 5:30 it can be pretty sunny, so you'll need to battle with that for about a half hour. Even before the show begins, a guitarist and hula dancer visit each of the tables to provide entertainment for the guests. Then a small band performs for everyone until the show starts at 7 pm. I was amazed by what this cast of 12 accomplished in an hour. They went through so many costume changes! The show starts with Uncle and his nephew greeting everyone to welcome us on a journey through the islands with lots of stories to share. My favorite quote of the evening was when Uncle said "A lei is a hug that never ends." So beautifully put to encompass the love that we give to one another when giving and receiving leis. Na Lei Aloha happens Sunday - Thursday on days when there are no other events happening on the Na Lea Terrace. You get 4 hours self parking with validation. There is even a 20% discount for kamaaina and active military and dependents. This production is put on by the Council of Native Hawaiian Advancement who advocates sustaining and advancing Native Hawaiian heritage and prosperity. I was most impressed with the way the cast interacts with the audience. They come out into the crowd at various times throughout the show to offer high fives, thanks for coming and just make the audience feel like they're a part of the show, too. The cast really makes it look like they enjoy one another's company and have lots of fun putting on the show. Their silliness and joyful banter really adds to the entertainment. They even have an opportunity after the show for the audience to take pictures and interact with the cast. You don't even have to pay extra for this! They really want the audience to feel loved and appreciated for coming. Now that's aloha!

This was an amazing experience and would highly recommend!! I loved how they emphasized the Hawaiian culture and the story of Waikiki. The dancers were incredible and they put on a great show!! Everyone was so friendly and the service was quick and efficient.

A new luau is in town located at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort & Spa! As many of us know, Hyatt is known for their amazing food. Now, imagine being on their terrace overlooking Waikiki beach, sipping on a Mai tai, indulging in their amazing seafood buffet AND enjoying a beautiful Hula show under the stars. It's a win win! The beautiful show is produced by the Kilohana group. You'll learn a little about the islands history while a live band plays beautiful arrangements for the dances. Currently, shows are Sundays through Thursdays 5pm til 8pm. You can buy tickets for just the show or with Hyatts delicious seafood & Korean buffet. HIGHLY recommend adding the dinner experience. All tickets include a welcome drink of either a Mai tai, blue Hawaii, beer, wine or POG juice. It's then a cash bar for any other drinks. Great experience for locals and visitors! Make sure to put on sunscreen and bring a sun hat if you come early for the dinner. Enjoy!

Late post --on Sept 23rd--Monday. I took my Ohana to the Luau & Dinner. It's a beautiful show again which is such a memorable evening again. My Aunty & Richmond Ohana --(Branscombe RichMond son Maru & Heimana). We had the best time & the foods is phenomenal again -- Seafood section is my favorite. They have the best Prime Ribs & Crab legs , Yummy but everything is so onolicious. We all tried the Soft serve ice-cream, the mango flavor is out of the world . The Service from the staff was also phenomenal. And the staff of NA Lei Aloha always greeting us with so much Aloha. The hostess ladies are soo nice & remembered me coming again bringing families to the show. And I love Mahiai & ofcourse all the beautiful dancers & the Musicians especially my gorgeous Niece ALAANA Seno. I'm coming again to bring my friends that are visiting from Canada to celebrate her birthday & what a way to celebrate your birthday with the best Luau & Buffet in Oahu --Waikiki--Hyatt Regency Waikiki. Much Mahalo to all the Casts & Crews for amazing memories & services. See you all on October 14th -- Monday.

What a stunning show! The performances are just incredible. I can't recommend this show enough for a taste of the gorgeous flower leis of Hawaii!

They present the King and Queen of the island during the show along with the hula dancers performing for them.

This new luau show is just fantastic. You can do dinner which is a buffet which is part of the Hyatt restaurant or you can just do the show after the dinner setting.

Cast with my very happy son!

I have been to many Hawaiian resort luaus and this one is top notch! The performances were enchanting. I especially liked the royal procession - it felt like we had been invited to witness a momentous gathering. The food was truly excellent. A mix of Korean, Hawaiian, and just good food. The meat was perfectly cooked and lean - good cuts. Everything was well seasoned. I would definitely attend again if I have the chance!

I did finally find one dish I genuinely enjoy: the Chicken Caesar Salad. The dressing has real anchovy flavor that gives it a nice umami, and the cheese is good quality. It's simple, but it's the only dish so far that's been reliably good. My favorite drink here is still the Grand Central Cadillac. It's margarita‑style -- strong, clean, and never cheap‑tasting. Their Mai Tai is nice too, just lighter and sweeter. I hope the kitchen continues improving so more dishes reach this level. And I'd love to see them bring in more seasoned jazz musicians, similar to the lineups at Blue Note's NYC and LA locations.

Wind and sheets of rain outside in Waikiki you'd never know that was happening inside the cozy interiors of the Blue Note. We arrived an hour earlier than 5:00 pm door opening but the line was already 25+. Construction is going on so you might need to climb the stairs one level to get here. Thank my lucky stars the elevator worked for me to get to the lobby. Have your tickets ready. I was hoping for a booth and we did get one off to the side. Placed our dinner order with Hannah. I told Doc if we spent $250 more it would be a 1K evening. We are eating prime rib and lamb shank plus pupu of poke nachos. I liked the taro chips since sadly I don't eat raw fish. Show is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. this gives us time to leisurely enjoy our dinner. Although the prime rib was tough, the veggies were overcooked the tastiest item on the plate was the mashed potatoes. Our server was attentive and refilled our water. She was excellent cuz she took my credit card and processed the tab right then. The furniture in our booth shows wear and tear on the seats and backs. Nevertheless the ambiance is good.

The venue immediately reminded me a little of the Hollywood Bowl, but on a much smaller and somehow even more charming scale. With Diamond Head rising in the background, the views are absolutely spectacular and give the whole experience a distinctly Hawaiian sense of place. I was also impressed by how good the acoustics were, especially in an outdoor venue. It's very easy to access from the main Waikiki hotel area, which makes getting there surprisingly convenient. Parking is always an issue but luckily we got there early...early enough to find one right away as it fills up quickly which you'll have to park at the next lot which can be a distance that we didn't want. What I wasn't prepared for was the wait as the time to enter was delayed by 30 minutes I did wished that I knew you could bring your own water just as long it's in a plastic bottle though there was lots of food options there it was spread out so far I wished there was just a single place to order but I was already exhausted from waiting that all I wanted to do was find our seats. Nadine selected great seats right in the center and close enough that we're able to see the concert well, bathrooms are at the front gate and I noticed there was another one on the opposite side as well, it's nice to have an open air atmosphere gave it a nice relaxing vibe. Thank you!

Along the way, the walls were filled with portraits of previous performers such as Jim Brickman and Na Leo Pilimehana. Impressive! After walking around to what seemed to be the back of the building, we entered a large living room full of sofas, ottomans, barstools and tables. We were warmly greeted and invited to partake in refreshments of shrimp platter, croissant sandwiches, fresh fruit, pasta salad and bottled water. The Emcee, Kevin Jones of Star 101.9, kept things lively by introducing the band members, asking engaging questions , and adding interesting trivia. He really helped make this event a more comfortable and intimate one. My friends and I sat in the first row where we could check out the jewelry and shoes (and bare feet) of the band. We enjoyed watching them communicate through gestures and eye contact and how they pressed the buttons of the amplifiers with their feet! I truly enjoyed watching Ka'imi's fingers glide over the frets of his guitar so effortlessly. ..He's a very talented songwriter even though he sang songs from the Doobie Brothers, Prince, and the Pixies, too. I'll admit, it was a little confusing to find at first, but after asking around, we finally made our way there and I'm glad we did! FOOD Lobster Gyoza Four delicious pieces served with gyoza sauce. Each one had a nice sized piece of lobster inside, and the flavor was spot on. The gyoza had that perfect savory bite, and the sauce brought everything together beautifully. Open-Faced Baguette Three pieces topped with creamy burrata, prosciutto, and sun-dried tomato pesto. The combination of creamy, salty, and slightly sweet flavors made these a really enjoyable bite. DRINKS Mojito Hands down, one of the best mojitos I've had! It was crisp, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. The bright citrus and fresh mint made every sip incredibly refreshing without being overly sweet. Definitely a drink I could happily sip on all night! Espresso Martini I normally don't order espresso martinis because, honestly, I haven't had many that impressed me. But THIS one completely changed my mind. Hands down the best espresso martini I've had! Smooth, rich, and delicious with just the right balance of coffee flavor and sweetness. I'd absolutely order this again. DESSERT Kona Espresso Tiramisu Of course, we had to end the night with dessert! This tiramisu was absolutely delicious. It came out in a fun, unique ball shape rather than the traditional presentation, which made it a little more interesting. The coffee and espresso flavors were rich and delicious, and every bite was so good. My only complaint? I wished there was more of it! All in all, a really good way to finish the meal. LIVE MUSIC Live music starts at 8:30 p.m., and who doesn't love a little live music with their cocktails and pupus? The evening featured a talented duo with a piano player and cello player, and they sounded fantastic together. The combination of piano and cello created such a beautiful, mellow atmosphere. It added just the right touch of elegance while still keeping the lounge feeling relaxed and comfortable. It really elevated the entire evening and made it feel like more than just going out for drinks and food. SERVICE Our waitress was extremely attentive and on point throughout the evening. She made sure we were taken care of without being overbearing, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Lewer's Lounge turned out to be such a great find! From the delicious food and seriously impressive cocktails to the attentive service and beautiful live music, everything came together for a really enjoyable night. And as far as date night goes, this place definitely gets my vote. Whether you're looking for a relaxed evening with someone special, cocktails with friends, or just a place to enjoy some great live music, Lewer's Lounge has the right vibe.
