Always have a good time here, good shows. Midget wrestling, concerts, comedy, etc. Bar staff usually good too. Parking - eh. Usually hit mall but now you can park under Republik too for a fee. Tonight, boyyyyyy - bartender betch pissed me off!!! Nasty ass attitude. Won't open her betch mouth but want to use her hands and throw em up at my son to get my attention. Trick. Enjoyed celebrating the original rude boy the late Bob Marley on his 81st birthday last Friday Feb 6th. Good spacious venue / great bar station locations and they also have a small lounge-restaurant bar called Safehouse in the back it's pretty tasty too- pizza wings burgers bar type food- seating areas couches to accommodate groups and smaller booths for like couples This tribute to Bob only had positive vibes even after all these years his legacy continues to bring people together. Great mellow crowd Pretty carefree atmosphere -if you know what i mean ;) wink wink- or should i say puff puff ! lol- fun bartenders awesome security- great Jawaiian reggae cover bands - just all around chill! Everyone on the same page - Harmony at its finest would be the word to describe that night -Happy birthday Bob! Roots/rock/reggae! paid parking at the Ala Moana mall structure or if you're lucky or should i say brave enough street parking is free. **just a lil advice pay and park on the 3rd floor -your car will be safe and you'll have peace of mind. also - all ages at all venues i believe -Ohana friendly wristbands for 21 and up! depending on the venue -tickets/entry fee cost may be different. read more

This venue is definitely a staple in the local EDM scene--and while it's not without its flaws, it still manages to be one of the go-to spots for fans of electronic music on Oʻahu. First off, this is one of the easier venues to get to location-wise. It's centrally located and easy to find, which is always a plus. That said, parking can be a bit of a nightmare. The lot is limited, and it fills up fast--especially on nights when a bigger name is in town. If you're planning to go during peak hours or for a major event, I highly recommend taking an Uber or Lyft. It'll save you the stress and let you fully enjoy the night without worrying about your car. As for the venue itself--it's pretty small. That intimate vibe can be great when the crowd is right, but it also means things get very packed, very fast. Expect to be shoulder to shoulder with strangers, and don't be surprised if you get bumped, nudged, or full-on body-checked more than once. If you're not into tight spaces or big crowds, this might not be your scene. Despite that, this venue does something no one else on the island really does--it consistently brings in EDM and DJ talent from the mainland. If you're into the genre, this is probably where your favorite artists will end up playing when they come to Hawaiʻi. That alone makes it worth checking out, especially if you're craving that high-energy, bass-heavy club atmosphere you'd normally have to fly to Vegas or LA to find. Be warned: it's loud. Like really loud. If you're planning to be near the front or close to the speakers, I 100% recommend bringing a pair of Loop earplugs or using your AirPods with noise control. You'll still get the full experience without wrecking your hearing for the next three days. Overall, while the space is tight and the parking situation could use some improvement, it's still one of the better spots on the island for EDM fans. Come prepared, and you'll have a great time. read more

Good room for sound. Was a little heavy on security but it's the time we live in. Plenty of friendly bartenders so no real wait there. There was a "pit" where a security guy was posted up in the middle of it all, which I thought was strange- but as show progressed it was obvious they were there to help people who fell or were in need to be taken aside even if they didn't know it yet. I'd go again read more

Great Energy & Electric Vibes: It was a beautiful night, when Beau & I, were dropped off here.. We were invitees to this rock venue..Now, this is not exactly our genre of music, but we went with the flow, for the night. On The Upside: *Delectable Finger Food, & Lots Of It..Bar Food, Made Bite Sized.. *Live Rock Band , Which Kept The Crowd Alive !!! Soul Stirring renditions of Classic Songs, performed.. *Fairly Nice Staff & Security On The Downside: Not Enough Seating.. The Seating To Be Found, Were Merely Chairs Stacked Against The Walls.. PILAU MANAGER! I went to da Mariah concert, and den me and my wahine was front row since about 7:30. When Mariah started performing bout like 10ish it was packed I was dripping sweat, security was amazing handing out waters to us seeing we needed um, it got to a point where I felt so dizzy I needed to leave n go get something cold like ice. I usually eat ice cause I'm anemic, it helps whenever I get overheated or I have migraines. Anywho my wahine was holding my hand guiding the way to the bar to get "JUST ICE" no drinks no natinnn, just ice. She got to da bar before me and asked if she could get ice, da lady looks at her wrist tells her no, looks her up n down, den snobs her. I see dat so I wen say "it's for me could I please get just ice". She looks at me says no, and walks away, i try asking her why, she ignores me and types away at the screen. I get upset cause im like I just seen so many other people with cups of ice! One of da wahines i was next to actually came back to the front with just ice! So I ask the bartender next to her, he tell me no. So at this point im furious. I go to da local Braddah shoutout to him, I ordered a drink bc it seems like they didn't want to give me ice. I sit at the bar just picking the ice from a cranvodka, Another bartender sees me and says "do you want ice" I said yes. BOOM! He wen give me a cup of ice. How hard was that! She's supposedly da manager and I'm so furious bc that's how you treat customers? So pilau!!! No wonder why u get so many negative reviews. read more

Went to The Republik because they were apparently having an After Party after the Kaskade show at the Waikiki Shell. As a visitor, I didn't know much else going on after the show and thought this was much more of an official after party than it was... they didn't even spell Kaskade's name right on their flyer LOL. The line took forever to get in and security seemed to be picking and choosing who got in and who didn't... once inside the music was horrible lol. I don't really know much about Hawaii's edm scene (mostly just heard it's pretty inexistant) but boy that was a mess. The djs were playing all sorts of random mixes in all sorts of weird genres that did not go together. The crowd seemed super immature and all over the place. Being from SF, we are lucky to have such a deep electronic music scene that every sub genre has its own specific place in SF. If you want techno, house, dubstep, riddim, whatever it is... there's a place and crowd for that specific sub-sub-sub-sub genre so you're really there with the vibes you want and the crowd you love. You could tell immediately that Honolulu does not have that and therefore this was just the place to go to listen to any edm that comes up. Big yikes.... so so so many amazing things about honolulu..... but great electronic music scene is not one of them! read more

I've been coming to The Republik for eight years now, and have never had a bad time. From dubstep, to reggae, to indie-rock, every show has been a blast. The security is no-nonsense, yet still remains courteous, and the bartenders are always super speedy and efficient, regardless of how busy it gets. The drinks are nice and strong, too, which will please those who like to watch a show intoxicated. I love the set up here, too, where there's a lounge area located away from the stage that makes it easy to rest or relax if you get overheated or whatnot. Honestly, I'm surprised by the divisiveness, but reading a lot of reviews, it seems that most of the negative reviews are from salty patrons who got too big for their britches and were doing things they shouldn't have been doing... Like I've said, been coming here for nearly a decade and always had a good time. read more

Came through as a last minute plan for Emo Night Loved the ambiance when I first arrived... everything in black and dripping in chandeliers. The whole night reminded me of my high school playlist. Good times all around. Bartenders were dope AF, don't forget to tip generously because they work super hard. The one thing that leaves a lot to be desired are the bathrooms. The women's restrooms were disgusting. Truly awful. Sticky and wet patches and smelly. Please get someone in to clean it regularly THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT... not just at the beginning and ending. Your patrons deserve better. And while you're at it, better cooling/ventilation wouldn't hurt either... the area ld the dance floor leading to the women's restrooms smelled badly of BO. I shudder to imagine what the men's restrooms smelled like. read more

I definitely encourage everyone to read the reviews. We arrived around 9:45 for a 10:00 PM show. The security told us to stand along the ramp because they were cleaning from the first show. You could tell some of the security staff took their job really seriously (and not in a good way). I read the previous reviews so I complied with all of their rules. I did not want to get kicked out nor did I want to get denied entry. I did not want to waste money since we pre-bought our tickets. Around 10:15 they told us to stand at the front door. This was an 18+ event, EDM DJ sets. You can take in a regular bag. I had my ID out and ready to go. I had a small bag. It was briefly looked through at the door. Another person scanned our tickets, and just like that, we were IN. The place is BIG. The air conditioner was working great. We snagged a table in the back area, where the back bar is. A few tables had "reserved" on them although no one sat at them all night except the security guards. No review of the food. The bartender said that the kitchen is only open for earlier shows. Looks like they had pizza, burgers, and something else on the menu. All of the bartenders we interacted with were super nice. Nice pour, not too much, not too little. We were overly cautious with our drink consumption because previous reviewers said they got roofied here. And, there was a guy who threw up all over the guy's bathroom. So we had to keep our thinking caps on. I dropped a few things out of my little teenie tiny purse- went back the next day and was able to recover my ID. My little portable charger didn't make it home, but I'll take the ID over anything. It is in Ala Moana's parking lot. And, there is another "club" downstairs from this one. I think it is called the District. Overall, it was a good time. They pushed us all out around 1:30 ish AM. I was good with that. With the security, you could tell some of them were just jerks. But, we just followed the rules- stayed out of their way- and enjoyed ourselves. read more

I was caught with an outside drink (a High Noon). Fair enough, but security handled it very poorly. I was immediately escorted out and had my band cut. Then I was questioned and shamed publicly. I understand confiscating the drink or a stern conversation, but to evict me for this was an extreme reaction. It ruined the night for me and my group. On other visits I have seen contraband (tapes, lighters etc) be confiscated. Security is inconsistent at best and overzealous at worst. We will not be returning. read more

Overall experience was good. Atmosphere inside was nice but a little cramped, and there was AC in there as well so it felt nice and cool. Security was friendly and had no problems whatsoever with them. Parking is a little difficult to find, but you can park on the street on Kapiolani Boulevard after 6:30pm as towing times are from 6am to 6:30pm (excluding sundays) Or you can park at Ala Moana but it must be at 3rd floor and up as floors below WILL get towed. It's an alright venue, but security is needlessly cruel. There's a difference between ensuring the safety of guests and shouting at / making fun of them while they're just waiting in line for a show. Normally, I don't write reviews unless it was really bad. Let's just say, for whatever reason, don't jump over the rail even if it looks like the artist is gesturing you to do so. Don't jump on someone's shoulders either or security could kick you out. I've never been quite a fan of the republik for the inconsistent priced drinks to the security guards not always being the kindest. Last night I attended Sullivan King. My friends and I are diehard fans. I've seen people give lei to artists before and thought this would be a memory to do so. Never knew how they do it though. Well things got crazy last night and I thought I was being gestured to hop over the rail and give it to him. Some artists are okay with that and encourage breaking the rules lol. I'm not a person to attack someone on stage. I was just confused. The security also looked like they were gesturing me over the rail. Maybe a way to kick me out? Anyways, they told me to get out. My friends and I talked about it and they thought the security and artist were gesturing me over the rail too so it wasn't just me. I got lucky and was given a warning. I apologized a lot. Like I said, I was excited and confused all at the same time. They let me back in to continue the show. Maybe because I just cooperated with their escort out and apologized. I did leave with a pretty nasty cut on my leg. No one checked up on me to see if I got injured. There's a side on the railing that was pretty jagged and I caught my leg on it going over. I get security is just doing their job for the safety of the artist and everyone in the venue. It's only the republik's security that everyone seems to find issues with. I saw them manhandling some guy out the door sure what the issue was but it was aggressive. Some of the security guards laughed about the whole thing at the end of the night. One female security guard said if she had gotten me, she would've full on thrown me out. Not Whatever you do, just don't do what I did. read more

There are so many BAD things to say about this place. As a club enthusiast and a security worker, the staff here are disrespectful to attendees on nearly every level. The furniture looks like it came from Goodwill & the food is terrible. All the bartenders are rude & very aggressive. No water fountain & if you ask to refill a $5 water bottle you will get intense attitude. I watched the 10 security guards "escort" 2 helpless intoxicated kids out in a way that could easily be considered assault. This was for a minor incident that could have been dealt with by a stern warning. Watched the security high five each other afterwards while making fun of the kids. This is not how well trained security should act. This area needs a well run edm venue because this is certainly not it. read more

We wenr for the emo night, which they said started at 9:00.. they opened the doors at 9:15... then played random 90s music until around 10:30 when they finally started playing some "emo/punk" music. While waiting for the event to actually start, we sat in a public seating area and had a beer. While sitting there, a security person came up to us, shined a light at our drinks on the table, stared at us , not saying anything, and then after several seconds, said "can you get your feet off my table ".... I had one single shoe maybe barely resting on the table in front if me...I moved my feet. Then a while later after the place started to get crowded. There was a group of people looking for a place to sit, two of them were handicapped...we offered them seats near us, which meant I had to sit on my husband's lap... security came around and said I couldn't sit in his lap, I had to sit on the seat next to him. Meanwhile there are plenty of people grinding on the dance floor and and their bathrooms were disgusting (even though they had an attendant practically begging for tips) . I had some fun once they actually played some music pertaining to the event, but the overall experience was a no for me and I never want to go in there again. read more

Venue was fine, but they serve the worst pizza Ive ever had in my life. It was so bad. One male bartender was SUPER rude while trying to order the pizza. He threw my cash down at the bar, demanding i face my cash bills in the same direction for him "because it's bar etiquette". I told him i had never heard that before...and he acted as if it were a well known fact and demanded that i straighten them. He would not accept the money without me doing that. It was $19 in fives and ones split between my friend and i... He was awful. I ended up taking the money back and walked away. I had just ordered a drink from another bartender without facing my bills, and she was perfectly fine with however i gave her the money. Super weird behavior. The show i went to was fun though. The service from their staff just sucks. read more

Cool venue, pretty spacious and you can see the performer well from anywhere. Bars were pretty quick for how busy it was. Drinks a little pricey but nothing crazy. Did not like the bathroom attendant thing going on - wasn't expecting it for such a casual club. Bouncers were a little wild, kicking people out for getting on shoulders - there wasn't a sign or anything saying that wasn't allowed. Not that I don't think it's annoying, I do, but seems a little harsh! Sound and lighting was good though. I forgot my earplugs but was fine, no ringing after. read more

If i could give zero stars I would. Went here for the Keshi concert 12/16/2022. Security thought my ID was fake and did not give me a wristband. Show was slated to start at 8:00, Keshi didn't come out till 9:30 and not even 30 minutes in, someone threw something at his eye and he had to walk offstage because he was bleeding. Stepped outside to take a breather and trued to go back inside but the rule was if you don't have your wristband, you are DENIED re-entry that's their policy so to say. My group walked back to where everyone was standing outside and saw a couple walk up to the same security that denied my re-entry without a wristband. Then the security guard proceeded to take out the wristbands and put a wristband on the guy and his girlfriend and let them go back inside. I have no idea why that couple was allowed to go in and I wasn't. Security is absolute shit and were paid to stand around or sit on their asses. When taking the (i assume) VIP ticketholders to the front security pushed through people without even saying an "excuse me." One security guard even swore at the people standing by me and said, "f***ing move!" And they give special exceptions to certain people apparently. Had the security stood by the stage, maybe Keshi wouldn't have gotten hit in the eye. I didn't even see the said perpetrator get escorted out. I will NEVER go back to this venue. Went to the Teddy Swims concert. Teddy Swims has a gorgeous voice, but it is much better on YouTube. The Republik didn't do Teddy's voice justice. Next time Teddy Swims comes to the islands, I hope they chose a better venue. As gorgeous as his voice was, I couldn't enjoy it much because the music was so LOUD! I could feel the bass pounding in my chest! At one point, my ears were ringing. This was a sold out show. It was crowded! I wish we had reserved seats like others did. Otherwise, you must stand in a crowded room. Difficult to wear face mask in the crowd. The bar staff was busy! Expect a long wait for service. The security staff were good, trying to clear the walkways. The outside security staff were nice. There was an incident requiring an ambulance and fire department. Not sure what happened, but security took control of the crowd outside. The crowd inside enjoyed the music. No fights or rowdiness. The huge screens were nice to watch the concert from the bar side. Parked at Ala Moana for $15! Credit card only. Short walk over to The Republik. As you climb up the stairs, you will be met with the foul stench of urine and dirty steps Building maintenance was subpar. I appreciate having venues for concerts. I hope The Republik's owners consider getting a better sound system. Would I go again? Highly doubt it. read more

Super rude!!!!!!!! Tried to grab things from my hands and flashed lights in me and my friends face. Wouldn't recommend

The Republik is the most consistently awful venues in O'ahu and they don't seem to care about improving, since I've reached out to them multiple times about reoccurring issues with them and nothing has changed at all. Security is awful and only cares about how many people they can kick out. Also, every time I've gone there, security mows down half the crowd while manhandling someone out of the venue. I get it, some people are rowdy, but the last time I went and they did that, they body slammed my female friend and knocked her to the floor and hit me while dragging someone out. Everyone's tired of security acting like they gangstahs and shining their flashlights in our faces as they shove themselves through the crowd. I wish the EDM community here would advocate for themselves and speak up about how shitty the Republik treats its patrons. We deserve way better especially since tickets are $60+. Some of my top artists have come to the Republik recently but I just don't fck with this venue anymore. I can't remember the last time I went to the Republik and didn't leave angry or disappointed. $10 service fee per ticket to pay online. Cash only at box office. No one answering the phone during business hours. Just a scam and shit of a location. Wish artists would quit booking here. Edit: So I changed my rating from 1 star to 4. No doubt this location should work on their daytime business practices but when I got to the event the woman who sold me my tickets remembered me from my multiple visits and personally walked me and my group to the front entrance. Super unfortunate the Republik seems to get most of the shows worth going to on Oahu because this place is terrible. My most recent shows being Still Woozy and Strfkr the following day. I've been going here for 10 years and it's the same thing every time. To say security is aggressive is an understatement. From the time you walk up the stairs until they're pushing you out of the venue and back down the stairs. You start by getting felt up in line from head to toe because apparently their little fairy wands aren't enough to find what they are looking for. You better not leave a quarter in your pocket or you'll get yelled out for not following orders from the Gestapo. They oversell the venue so you're packed in there like sardines and security will manhandle their way through the crowd shoving their way through to get to the next victim. Usually it's just some teenager vaping. Yet they don't mind shoving you and your girlfriend to get to the villainous vaper. Oh and they have the brightest flashlights made by the sun god Ra himself that will leave you blind for a minute after so enjoy that while trying to watch a show. There's food available but I'm not about to give them another dollar I don't have too. It's sad because this place could be a lot of fun. They have big names coming in but every time I see it's here I have to really think how bad do I really want to see this artist. But they don't care. Where else are you going to go? Unfortunately this is where the talent is. Security needs to chill. We are here to enjoy our evening. The vast majority of attendees aren't violent criminals so please don't treat us like you're herding us into prison. read more

Came here for the Granger Smith concert with my friend and her 13-year-old son. Surprisingly, minors are allowed as long as they are accompanied by an adult. The venue is located off Kapiolani Blvd, accessed by a ramp or, if you're on foot as we were, two steep flights of stairs. The dark interior was chilled by A/C and a huge ceiling fan that must've spanned 6 feet for each blade. This makes for comfortable temperatures even with the standing room only crowd. Acoustics were kinda muffled because we were surrounded by tall people and a few giants easily over 6'4" which also made viewing the stage hard when you have to keep hopping up and down like a penguin. While the performer was amazing on stage, the venue did have a few hiccups mainly in the amount of beer that never made it to the mouths of the customers and instead sloshed all over the concrete floor. May be okay if you like smelling like eau de Budweiser. Which brings me to another hiccup, concrete floors can only be stood on for, I dunno, five minutes? Try it for 3.5 hours! Even the teenager was begging to leave before the last song was sung! Tickets were $30 plus processing fee. For the price, a good value to see one of country music's distinctive performers! read more
