This was my first luau and I enjoyed it immensely. It was small and intimate. The views were beautiful and the dancers were amazing!! I would definitely recommend this.

Amazing night. Loved the small group of only 40 people and how well they keep everyone engaged. They constantly were pulling people on stage and keeping the energy high. The director was so fun and really made the show!! And to top it off the location and the sunset were amazing!!!

We were interested in experiencing the local culture while taking in a sunset but didn't want to be in a big crowd. This venue was perfect. A small group made for fast friends around the tables and we were invited to participate in many parts of the experience making it even more enjoyable. The talent of the singers and dancers was matched by their passion - and it was outstanding. They really poured themselves into their show making our experience all the more authentic and enjoyable. The food was great and there was plenty of it. Just a great time!

These folks are so great at what they do. I'll be honest I was really just waiting for the fire dancers...for me that was the highlight, but all the performers are great and did a great job of keeping the crowd engaged by participating. Only complaint is that a lady guest was standing up and taking videos and blocking everyone else's view behind her. Other than the inconsiderate guest, the show, venue and performers were fantastic. Also, couldn't have asked for more perfect weather!

Performers: The performers did a wonderful job dancing and putting on different acts. They were entertaining. During one act, a man climbed a tree with his bare feet. All the dancers did great. Food: The food was a buffet style serving line with servers. The food was decent. It was nothing to rave about, but it also wasn't the worst. It pretty much did its job. Overall: Again, I don't know if my expectations were too high, but I honestly wanted to leave, but I paid so much so I wanted to stay to see if the experience would get better. I don't have any other luaus to compare this to, so it could have been great and just not for me. I did feel like it took a long time to get the show started. There was a little entertaining before the show started, but I felt like there was a lot of wasted time.

It turned out to be one of the best live entertainment shows I've been to in years. It was hilarious, engaging, and most importantly, there was murder, and lots of it. If you purchase a Groupon, you will need to choose which show date you'd like to attend and pay an additional admission fee of $12.48 to cover tax and waitstaff gratuity. You will also be asked to choose your entrée for the 4-course dinner included in your purchase price. The choices are sous vide chicken breast, fresh island fish, and penne pasta. The show is held at the Alana Waikiki Business Center of the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Alana - Waikiki Beach. The free WIFI sign-in and password will be made available to you when you check-in. At check-in, you will be given a ticket according to your entrée choice as well as a name tag to write down an alias. My alias for the evening was Agatha Poirot. There is a cash bar available as well as free iced tea and coffee. An ATM and restrooms are conveniently located outside of the room where the performance is held. The actors and hosts are very entertaining and did a great job in making the evening a lot of fun. I won't give the story away, but I will say that this particular storyline will have multiple murders, and the actors make it tough to figure out who the real killer is. I thought the two detectives were the best performers of the evening and were laugh out loud funny. They need to be given their own show, perhaps a parody of Hawaii Five-0! The top sleuth who not only figures out the murderer, but writes down the best explanation as to why the murderer killed his or her victims, will win a murder mystery entertainment prize package. I was told that the mysteries will change, so there will be opportunities for audiences to attend future shows with new mysteries to solve. The Dinner Detective is one of the best entertainment options in Waikiki and a fun way to spend an evening for tourists and locals.

The staff and actors were great The hostesses were quite attentive and friendly and kept popping to different tables to check up on everyone. The hotel banquet staff was not quite up to par, maybe because they felt that they should be more "in the background" with everything going on. The mystery was well done, some twists and turns and not as easy as you think it might be to solve the case. It was easy to figure out who was acting in the audience vs. who the audience participants were so you could narrow down the suspects quite quickly. Since both my husband and a friend was "suspect", it even made my choices slimmer. For those who like to mingle, it's a fun way of interacting and meeting people but if you are on the introverted side, this may not be for you. Quite a few customers were in the "acting community". The food was so-so for me although my group enjoyed it. Both the chicken and fish were prepared well and was covered with a sauce that was tasty. Salad and dessert were good. Beverage choices were limited but expected with limited bar service, soft drinks and coffee. This is a fun outing for a group. If you really get into solving the mystery and talk to everyone in the room, you probably would be able to get more into the case. Expect some characters..... and I don't mean Mickey. Some people can really get into this sort of thing!

Rain was forecast throughout the day, and since the company's website clearly states that the event operates rain or shine, I expected them to be prepared for the weather. Unfortunately, they were not. When we arrived, the tables and chairs were soaking wet. While ponchos were provided, there were no canopies set up to protect guests from the rain, and many people were left standing outside the venue trying to find shelter. The event felt poorly organized, and I was not the only guest expressing concerns. More than half of the attendees appeared frustrated by the lack of preparation and accommodations. We spoke with both customer service and the on-site supervisor during the event. Afterward, I contacted customer service to request a refund. Their response stated that they were unaware of the rainy forecast and that they eventually dried the tables and put up canopies. However, these actions took place approximately an hour after the show was scheduled to begin, which is far too late. Overall, this was a disappointing experience. Given the weather forecast and the company's rain-or-shine policy, guests should have been provided with a properly prepared venue from the start. Based on my experience, I would not book with this company again.

I later learned that she was a contestant on The Voice. In addition, my 2024 luau was my first visit to Hawaii ever and I was pumped to attend a luau and learn the traditions. Our 2026 host was a gentleman who had more of a flat stage presence. Flash forward to 2026, many components of the luau remained the same. The luau starts at 5 pm and there are various activities on the lawn such as lei bracelet making, some music, a man who climbs up a coconut tree, and a complimentary drink either rum punch or guava juice. There is the typical push for professional photos when your party enters the space with an opportunity to purchase closer to dinner time at $25 each. The show takes a touch to get going and has a strong focus on getting the crowd engaged. There are many songs dedicated towards anniversaries and celebrations which is nice. In addition, there is a big focus on military and those who have served this country being at a military hotel. The event is clean, staff is friendly, yet I do wish there was more performing as opposed to crowd shout outs. The show takes you through Polynesian history, New Zealand and more demonstrated via dancing, fire throwing and hula. There is an MC who hosts, live musicians and interactive crowd sessions. I've never been a big fan of the food but appreciate it all because it's a learning lesson about traditional food. The appetizers are pineapple, pickled onions, poi and salsa with fish that will get split at your table with pre-set plates. Servers will come around to serve the main dish. The main plate contains chicken, pulled pork, steak, fish, sweet potatoes and zucchini. Dessert has always been guava cake which pairs nicely with coffee. My favorite take-a-way from the show is learning how the men have always done the hunting, cooking and cleaning as the women are considered sacred since women can give the gift of life. This is such an honorable lesson that makes me smile. Thank you to the staff as I know it takes a village to put on a show like this especially 3 x's a week. Mahalo!!

I was skeptical at first, because I know they have contracts with certain companies/vendors, BUT I was wrong to be skeptical. It was such an amazing time and worth every penny! I highly recommend using their transportation and taking the bus up with others. We were on bus #2 with Steph as our guide and Manny as our driver, they both were amazing. Steph helped kill the time in traffic by sharing historical facts, teaching us a bit of the language, and just generally being super sweet and entertaining while telling us what activities were available, and what to expect. Great experience. 10/10. Once we arrived, they called us off the bus by your package level and gave us wrist bands. We were in section 1, closest to the stage, so we had a welcome Mai tai, given a beautiful flower lei, and three drink tickets (these could also be used on shaved ice). They had activities all over the event; a tattoo station, a banana leaf headband station (I'm so sorry for not remembering the name of these), a Kava tasting station, a fire baton twirling station, a flower lei bracelet making station, a photo station, a spot where you could watch them pull up the kalua pig from the ground, and a bunch of great vendors selling hand made items. The food was buffet style, and honestly, I was super surprised how many options they had. Everything was DELICIOUS! Even my picky kids ate! They had chicken, kalua pork, baked Mac n cheese, noodles, white rice, wild rice pilaf, just too many great options to list. 10/10! The show was the BEST part. It wasn't just a hula show. It was a whole history lesson about the different Polynesian cultures and the wars they fought, so entertaining. I was worried my kids would get bored with a show, but they were blown away! The fire dancers were definitely a highlight for the kids, and they performed throughout the show, not just at the end. This was a phenomenal show! Hands down, the best I've seen! We missed the photo station, so we had to take our own family photo, so I recommend you do that sooner rather than later. They removed the photographers and props sooner than the other activities closed. But it didn't matter much, the background was great and our photos came out fine. Just a tip. The tattoo line was the longest, and if you stood in that, it's likely you missed other activities. It's just face paint, so it wasn't a need to see for us.

The charter bus was easy to find and left right on time. We picked up others (now our family/ohana per Cousin Brian, who was our host from the bus) from local hotels and made our way to the luau. Upon arriving, they immediately handed out ponchos, which were definitely needed. Mostly light rain on and off throughout the evening, but that didn't spoil our time there. They took extra care to dry our seats ahead of initially sitting down at our table and when we returned from the buffet. We were also greeted with a fresh flower lei (booked the Royal Experience). At our seats was a lei po'o waiting for all. They immediately offered us a complimentary drink and a gentleman had fresh coconut ready to try. Just ahead of dinner, the men brought out the roasted pig. A blessing was asked in the native language, and then it was dinner time. All staff were kind and helpful. All of the food was really good, especially the kalua pork, which had a great smoky flavor. I'd dare to say it was better than any pork butts I've ever smoked at home. The men played music and sang while we ate, which we enjoyed. On to the show.... Multiple groups of dancers performed for us, showcasing different cultures, like Samoan and Polynesian.
