This was easily one of the most authentic luau experiences I've had. The setting right on the beach makes a huge difference because your feet are literally in the sand while watching the show. The sunset here is unreal. It has that soft, golden Hawaiian glow you always imagine but rarely actually see in real life. The performances feel heartfelt rather than overly commercial, and the whole evening flows in a really relaxed way. I first visited Germaine's back in 2022, and the experience was excellent - good food, good show, good view, good people. As others have said, the location is in an industrial part of town and looks shady, but it's legit and the beach view by moonlight is wonderful and didn't feel unsafe. Fast forward to July 2026. God forgive me, I want to love Germaine's still, but I just can't. The people and view from the beach is still great, and I appreciate that they call out their appreciation for our veterans, military, and first responders and recognize them during dinner. I also appreciate that they are allergy friendly for peanut, treenut sensitive folks, and have a billboard that lists all of the ingredients in the food as well as a simple chart showing which allergen the food is safe for. The labels on the food at the buffet also note if gluten free, dairy free, and peanut free. We didn't have the horrific bugs other people had, but there were several flies sighted, some landing on the food in the buffet and some trying to get at our food at the table. My wife complained of being bit on her legs by something, so she was fending of flies above the table and something attacking her below. The picnic benches are uncomfortable, probably more so for large folks who it would also be difficult for them to navigate. The sand is hit or miss with some folks with some hating it, others not mentioning it. I'll not mention or mark off for that. At the entry, they take two pictures of you - one with a hula girl, and one without, but you can't buy just one of the pictures, you have to pay for both at $30 (I didn't need the one with the hula girl), but it does come with a digital download option. The food was meh. The chicken was over-slathered in sauce, the beef was over cooked and rubbery. I didn't try the pork. The dessert is a cheap layer cake cut into small ~1 inch squares. I think in 2022, there were more food choices. Fountain soft drinks, water, tea, and coffee are complimentary. Alcohol, you get one ticket, and a drink usually comes in a small 6 oz cup. You generally have enough time to eat one plate and get one second visit to the buffet before they close it down - and boy when they close it down, they close the drink station and bar shortly after that. The show - well, the performers did fine, but I didn't 'feel' the show like I did before. It felt mundane. That's not a dispersion cast at the performers. I can't quite place it or describe how it felt different from 3.75 years ago. The crowd was less than enthusiastic as well on the night I went, so maybe that put a damper on things. Sadly, for the price and the experience we had, I don't think I will return to Germaine's for a third visit. I'm sorry. read more

We're staying in downtown Waikiki. I saw two luau that looked so BORING!!!so bootleg. Who has a Luau on a roof? I AM SO GLAD we chose Germaine . The BEACH The AMAZING staff. Food was ok. But the WHOLE experience was top tier. The lady at the ticket booth was SO kind and friendly. She had a big Hawaiian chain. I'm sorry I didn't get her name.. but everybody was just the best. I have been going since I was 18 to Germaine's Luau and I am now 54. I love the setting the waves in the background are beautiful. The drinks are delish! It's so much fun and the food OMG it was so good! Absolutely everyone is so kind and welcoming. The show is beautiful. The drive was about an hour from hotel but it goes fast and the bus driver is very entertaining. My son went on a guys trip and he told the group they had to go to Germaine's they had a blast! Honestly such a great experience! It was very organized, right by the water, and feels like a true authentic way to experience Hawaiian culture. It was a bit pricey in my opinion, however, it is an all you can eat experience and we got three drink tickets as well which was plenty. We had family luau night. It's in the middle of industrial area, but once you're there you forget where you are. Once you arrive you will pay $5 for parking if it wasn't included in your package. We got the cheapest package and the view was not bad but not the best. I recommend to get the second package for better view. After checking in you will get your wrist band according to what package you bought. Then you will take pictures which will cost $30 At the end of the show. No personal pictures allowed. Then you walk towards your table but can stop for a flower in your hair and activities before the show starts. If you didn't reserve a table then get there early to get a good table because it is first come first served. You will be directed when it's your turn to make line for the food. The food was pretty good. Dessert was ok. Drinks were ok that you get for one ticket, but if you want a better drink get the ones for 2 tickets. For the actual show they have many dance routines. I really enjoyed all the dances and they do have audience participation from men, women and children at some point in the show. Lastly take lots of pictures and wear shoes that can be in the sand as you will sit on the tables in the sand. Enjoy the dinner and a show. read more

This is located right next to the beach, great for taking sunset selfies. The tickets purchased included 2 drinks and dinner buffet style and the entertainment dancers. Considering the size of the venue the lines went fairly quickly for the buffet. There is a gift shop on site and I thought the prices were very reasonable. Purchased my tickets through an excursion provided by a cruise line. Was a bit pricey. Set that aside it's a guarantee back to ship on time as this ran late till end of port time. read more

Great Luau! The location may give you pause when driving in, however it is another world inside the gate. Great beachfront views of the sunset and perfect for a family photo. We were treated very well the entire evening. Germaine's has a plan and it works! No pushing and shoving at the buffet, plenty of opportunities for seconds and the seating is comfortable. There really isn't a bad seat in the house. On top of that, a great show that's as kitschy as you might expect...or fear! The food was much better than the old Paradise Cove luau. Kalua Pork has good flavor and the mac salad is as good, if not better, than found elsewhere on the island. The drinks were weak, as expected. However, they have a nice self serve bar for soft drinks, coffee and tea. The service throughout our visit was thoughtful and organized. If you want a solid luau experience, I recommend giving Germaine's your business. read more

We attended Luau last Sunday (6/7/26), it's Day 5, his legs still swollen and his bites are blistering. This establishment should at least warn people ahead or do something to fumigate the area. I must say that the food and the entertainment were wonderful. My family and I enjoyed the dancers and the ambiance of being on the beach. Being on the beach and seeing the sunset was awesome. What was disappointing was the fact that it is not handicap accessible when I was told on the phone that it was. I brought both of my elderly parents with me, both of whom are confined to wheelchairs, and since the luau is on the beach it was extremely difficult to wheel them to our seating area and the restroom. That was very disappointing. Trying to get my parents to and from the seating area to the rr was like moving through quicksand. They only had one tiny mat to roll my parents on, but it was not wide enough to fit the wheels of their wheelchairs. My suggestion would be to cover the seating area with a concrete slab then lightly dust it with the sand. That would be much easier for your handicapped guests. We paid good money for the experience. I wish I had a more positive review, but I was very disappointed with the set-up for my handicapped parents. read more

Service is fantastic, the food is okay. You are really coming for the great show and the food and drink is just a part of the experience. It is also on a private beach so you get amazing views and pictures of the sunset before the show begins! We did the standard package that includes the meal and one drink, which I think is the way to go unless you are a big drinkers. The pork was the highlight of the meal, besides that everything else was okay. I ended up feeding a lot of my food to the cats that are on the property. My 5 kids and I decided the luau would be our last night in Hawaii, our big hoorah! We sat by the water, and were among the last to go get food. As I sat down to eat the sun was setting, I was able to , quite literally try 1 bite of each food I chose when the sun was fully set and the bugs swarmed!! They were all over us, in our clothes, in our food, and in our drinks. Even though I had a receipt showing I paid extra for drinks, they were not replaced. We were flat out told no, we would not receive new drinks. We were also not able to replace our food because staff had cleaned up by the time we found, on our own, a new place to sit without bugs. We missed more than half the show. Money completely wasted. No torches were set at anytime to try to attract them away. No apologies were made. Nothing! Our last night in Hawaii was ruined. A note here that it feels like you're about to get punked because you're driving into an industrial area! LOL! BUT the gorgeous view of the ocean and the sunset help offset that! Entry into the event was easy once staff was in place, as we were a bit early. Service to get a drink was quick. There's also a self-service area for sodas, water, etc. What we saw of the show* was okay. The food was good. The swarm of termites, while expected by the MC, who exclaimed "here come the termites!", caught the rest of us off guard! It was overwhelming and DISGUSTING! If visiting Hawaii, absolutely do a luau. The performers were great. Beautiful location on the water but the website should advertise more it's an hour away from the main posted office location. Been to my handful of luau's over the years and from all that I have been too this one was the least stressful lol, totally relaxed feel, vibe was fun, not rushed, easy to follow and well prepped out The intro was pretty short and sweet The pig uncovering was tastefully done, playfulnesses with the two presenters was definitely an ice breaker for us and the crowd The performances of each island and different types of dancing was fun to watch The way they laid out the lines to go get food was organized. The first row tables got their food delivered to them, their seconds they would need to go to the regular buffet line, the second row obviously was set to go in stages per table following the third followed the same as the second, if you felt for seconds there was pretty much allot if it leftover minus the sweets of course those go quick The Poi tasted fresh, the pork was super tender and slightly decently seasoned, the fried fish was good, the chicken was tender and seasoned well everything else was decent Drinks were colorful and strong. I have been to several luaus but it has been years since I have been to Germaine's....until a few weeks ago. I forgot how beautiful it was there! So beautiful they filmed Lilo & Stitch at this location. They have different spots for fun photos, an all you can drink soda station, self serve all you can eat buffet, gift shop, Hawaiian activities & let's not forget the bar with really different yummy adult drinks. The Hawaiian dancers are absolutely gorgeous and the show was just beautiful. Oh let me know forget, do not forget your photos from George! I've read mixed reviews on this place so I decided to check it out with my family while visiting . The staff were all so nice once we arrived. I felt like I walked into the Disney movie Lilo and stitch as there was a small scene that was actually filmed there. Food was good and I liked that they were organized with going table to table allowing guests to make a plate without being staggered over each other. The only downside were the drinks , needed just a tad bit more alcohol. I felt like we just ordered juice at the bar. They should of cancelled their entire show for the day with rain and wind blowing everyone's table covers. They equipped all guest with Ponchos to stay dry but everyone is getting swallowed and holding their ponchos down for dear life in this 3rd Kona Storm they were having. I understand they don't want to lose the thousands of dollars from cancelling one luau event, but it was horrible for all the guests. No one could even enjoy it with rain pouring down on our food because they have no cover, and still with the wind blowing our plates and umbrellas backwards, they still wanted to keep the show going....like c'mon make your guest enjoy themselves after dropping all this money, even a partial refund should of been due, but no the show must go on rain or shine, happy or unhappy guests! At least build a cover or shelter to protect your guests, and they don't offer full refunds unless they decide to cancel on you which doesn't seem like they do very often. I'm never returning and highly discouraging this Germaine's luau until I get some type of compensation or reimbursement for my precious yet limited vacation time. No Thank You! Go somewhere else that treats their paying customers with dignity and respect, I've eaten better at campgrounds than here. Went to Germaine's luau for dinner and a show the venue is in the middle of the industrial complex which made us nervous but once inside those fears were put to rest and an evening of food and entertainment was on the menu. The luau started with the unveiling of the pig from the Buried pit which was quite the show in itself. Next was the meal which consisted of pork beef fish and chicken all of which were quite good for a Buffet style the sides were OK nothing to write home about. food quality is horrible and tasteless. table cloths are plastic, faded and dirty. picnic tables are on dirty sand, hard to walk on. plastic fork and knife with 1 napkin and a cardboard plate that fits nothing. They charge for parking and not sure why it's in an industrial park. you get 2 drink tickets but they do not tell you it takes 2drink tickets for 1 alcoholic drink. This place is horrible - the stage needs an overhaul - it's falling apart. the overall place has zero ambiance. I have been to Luau's in the states such as Mai Kai in Ft. Lauderdale with a terrific show beautiful interior and exterior and delicious food for much less and spotlessly clean. This place is a farce and needs to close down. This was my first time at this place. As I was driving, I was confused by the location as it sits in the industrial part of town. The customer service there was great one older man in particular, was so accommodating that he escorted us to the best open seating available. The buffet style dinner was well organized! The kalua pig was cooked underground which gave its incredible flavor. Even though the food lacked salt and pepper, it was authentic Hawaiian, in my opinion. Germaine's Luau is a one of kind experience located directly off the beach - this is the most authentic luau experience on the island of Oahu. The welcome, púa ceremony, flower and tattoo activities, food buffet, and entertainment is above and beyond what I expected. It is a nice intimate and interactive experience - you can feel the Spirit of Aloha throughout the Luau. One fun fact: The live action Lilo and Stitch had been partially filmed here as well. The service from beginning to end was amazing and the staff was located throughout to help with any questions. There is a small gift shop with limited items to buy and directly across is the restrooms. This is an outdoor experience so plan accordingly!! I always try and research each place before I visit. To those who drive there is parking, but I'm not sure if it's free, or included in your ticket. As traveled with a group a friends with private transportation. read more

Save your money . I don't recommend , we were late to the event due to their transportation which ultimately caused us to get there last so the seats that were left was way in the back. With us being way in the back we also received our food last so all of the food was picked over & ran through . The food was also not the best at all . Please do your research before going . We also had no type of lighting due to where we were sitting so we had to pretty much eat our food in the dark & use our phone flash light to see. read more

To be completely honest, I was a bit disappointed with this experience. We got stuck in traffic and because of that we ended up being a half hour late but that wasn't what disappointed me. Thankfully, we had arrived before most of the actual show and dinner had started but I really felt rushed through the entire event. We missed waiting in line to check in and receive our lais, drink tickets and seating assignments but we got all of that with no line by being late. We found our table, got our drinks and then sat down with a few minutes before food was served. Once the food was served, we were all whisked off to the buffet line to grab our food before the show started and once it did, it flew by at such a fast pace that I feel that we may have missed some of it. They told us when dinner was served that in Hawaii at Luau, you don't eat until you're full, you eat until it hurts but that wasn't possible. We got our first plates and were told that food would be available until some certain dance in the performance but that was only about 20 minutes. My wife and I almost had to run back to get seconds and after we had gone through the line for the second time, the food was packed up and gone. The show was great don't get me wrong, but the performances were machine gunned at us at such a fast pace that it was hard to enjoy. They cram a lot of entertainment into a couple of hours that fly by so fast that when it's over, your left with your head spinning. They have their production down to a precise science and from a tourism standpoint, I can see how that is efficient and profitable for them as a company. For me as the consumer however, I felt like the whole thing was a novelty and that the price I paid was not worth the value of what I received. There are a lot of Luaus to choose from when you visit Hawaii, but I don't know if they all feel this rushed and we chose Germaine's not only because my kids had been but also because the comedian Fluffy, (Gabriel Iglesias) spoke so highly of it in one of his stand ups. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was looking for a relaxed and fun filled evening with great food and entertainment. The food was good, and the entertainment was great, but I felt like I was ushered in and out of the place too quickly. In one way and right out the other in a sense. If you're going to visit Hawaii, I definitely recommend experiencing a luau. I can't say for sure that Germaine's is the best. This is absolutely the BEST Lūau on the island of Oahu! We've been to a couple different ones and this is the most enjoyable and authentic with everything you'd imagine when you think of a luau! The location is amazing where you put your feet in the literal sand while you enjoy the stunning views of the ocean. The show is fun and lively and the whole experience feels like a family has invited you to their family backyard bbq Lūau! The menu has everything you can want with a buffet style that where you can go back for 2nds and 3rds and you will! Recently tried this place. It is located next to the beach but in an industrial area. We received instructions about checking in early for some activities. We got there about 30 minutes earlier but were not able to get in until after the designated time. We were greeted and seated afterwards. Everything was going ok when they started the show. Unfortunately, it started to rain after they asked people to queue up for food. The staff handed out some ponchos to the guests but still pushed through with the show. Our food got drenched with rain water. I wished they would've paused the food service until the rain stopped. The show was great though, too bad we couldn't really enjoy it. read more

My husband and I enjoyed every moment of the experience! At first we thought we were lost because you have to drive through an industrial area that looks deserted, and then suddenly you find this hidden away. The beach view was so pretty (but blocked off). You can get a flower in your hair and a "tattoo" drawn on your arm. The drinks are good. Plenty of food that was pretty salty but good. The performances were amazing! I saw in other reviews how they were bothered by seeing cats, but it wasn't a concern at all in my opinion. The cats do roam around, but they don't bother you. Staff is so friendly and the sunset on the beach is epic! Every table has a good view of the stage and show is top notch. Pork and chicken are solid everything else looked pretty cafeteria style. Brightside they have poi. I'm one of the few mainlanders that actually likes it. Downside mosquitoes so wear repellent!!! It's also in an industrial park so our Lyft driver almost didn't pick us up at the end of the show. They also have cats that wander around. Came to Germaine's Luau for my and my son's birthday. On recommendation of comedian Gabriel Iglesias. We got there a little early (30 minutes), and was able to enjoy some time at the beach park next-door. The staff was amazing. From the ladies, working the parking, the ladies working the ticket booth, the gentleman directing us for pictures and drinks. Overall, every person we met, there was spectacularly wonderful. Especially since it was Thanksgiving day. The person who gave us our little tattoos, was also an excellent dancer. The young ladies, who made the flowers for our hair, also amazing dancers. Watching them pull the pig from the pit was awesome, the food was delicious, the pork was tender, the vanilla buttercream cake was absolutely perfect. Just sweet enough.
