Gina's Kapolei our go to restaurant for top notch Korean food. Generous portions cooked to order. Using fresh locally sourced ingredients. Their side dishes are wonderful. Especially the Pickled Onions. . We had the Chicken Katsu and Meat Jun today. Both were delicious . Nice size dining room for dine in customer. Take out and delivery available. Highly recommended

Meat was cut soooo thin. Less than 1/16" auwe

Ordered the meat Jun , wasn't that busy but still took 25 minutes. Finally got my food only to find out the beef in the meat Jun was cut so thinly. Thin like the meats they cut at hot pot places. Should be called egg Jun at this point. This place is also on the pricier side too.

This is a cool spot for Korean food, in huge quantities and a friendly atmosphere. Most of their plates consist of a protein option, some rice, and then your choice of four banchan. For meats, the kalbi is excellent. The bulgogi is odd, I would not get it. It comes in relatively thick slices and is chewy. My preferred banchan include their kimchi, mac salad (we are in Hawaii), and the leafy green vegetable. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of it, but it was fantastic, fresh and tasty. You have to try it! This place will fill you up, that's for sure. We came for a late lunch and arrived famished but left totally stuffed.

Grabbed a couple of plate lunches today from Gina's. Service is friendly and we got our food without much waiting despite the number of customers also grabbing lunch. Hubs got the Gina's Special (bulgogi, bbq chicken and Kalbi) and I got the meat Jun/bbq chicken combo. Plates were fully loaded; we both ate a lot and there was plenty left over for dinner and probably lunch tomorrow! All of the proteins and sides were flavorful and delicious. Though on the pricier side for a plate lunch, with how many servings you end up with, it's worth the cost! They're closed on Mondays, so come in and get yourself some yummy food on any of the other days of the week!

2 entrees 4 sides combo is the way to go!

Important update: previously I mentioned how their red-colored veggie sides like kimchi, pickled daikon etc. was something I would avoid.... Now I loooovveee their kimchi! I think they changed the recipe because the taste had much more umami and depth, and so was their pickled daikon! This time I tried their hot wings and I wasn't a fan of the taste and they weren't spicy at all. I think next time I would stick with the regular wings. Also previously, the water from their water fountain tasted a bit weird. This time I went, it's perfectly fine! The staff were friendly as usual. Always willing to help. I do think the bathroom could be a little better though. It's interesting how we live in town but totally prefer this Gina's over the one in Kapahulu! It's always our go to spot when we're on the west side.

Mini Family pack sides. It's supposed to be enough rice for
    Gina H.

Decided to pick up lunch for me and my Dad. I figured for couple extra dollars, I would get the mini Family pack. Then, he could have all the different choices of meat and have leftovers. My blind butt thought it said feeds 2-5 but it says 2-3. Anyways I'm glad I didn't go back in to ask where the rest of the rice was. Lol but it didn't look like 5 scoops of rice. I'll just give you a suggestion. I think this has enough protein for 3-5 people if a couple of them are children. Just gotta make extra rice at home and maybe buy more veggies. Main dish wise we had leftovers for both of us. This was definitely worth the money but it would be realistically it needs more rice and more than 1 meat Jun sauce. Meat Jun is very simple. It doesn't taste marinated, so you need the dipping sauce. Everything else is overly marinated but that's how they have always been and some people like it that way. Veggies was on point. It was super crunchy and fresh. Food storage is clean because we all know Korean places where the banchan taste like a stale plastic bin. Staff is friendly and it's clean. That's always a plus in my book.

Sisters Gina Song and Yong Hae Han opened Gina's Barbecue in the Market City Shopping Center in Kaimuki in 1991, with the restaurant becoming very popular over the years serving Korean comfort food. Yong Hae's son, Sang Han, aka Han, wanted to open a similar restaurant on the west side of Oahu in Kapolei to introduce the delicious flavors of his mom's Market City restaurant. Mom Gina Song decided to help her son open his restaurant and sold her restaurant in Market City. Thus, Gina's Kapolei opened at the Kapolei Village Center in June 2022. I should mention that since I live on the east side, Gina's Barbecue in Market City was my go-to for Korean food, as well as for many University of HI students that lived nearby the campus, as the food was always delicious and flavorful. But when it was sold, it kept its same restaurant name, but the quality of the food drastically changed with the new owner. What happened, Gina's Barbecue? Sadly, I no longer have a favorite Korean comfort food place. All this time, I was thinking that the flavorful tastes of Korean food that I enjoyed so much is now in Kapolei. Gina's Kapolei offers the following Korean comfort foods: * Plate lunches. Kalbi, bulgogi, chicken, pork, hamburger steak, shrimp, meat jun, fish, mandu, oyster, unagi. Mini plates come with 2 scoops rice & choice of 2 banchan, and regular plates come with 3 scoops rice and choice of 4 banchan. You can also make your own combos. Family packs are also available. * Soup & Noodles: ginseng chicken, kimchee, seaweed, mandu, mandu kook su. * Others: bibimbap, kimchee fried rice, kimchee bibim kook su. They also provide catering for birthday celebrations, wedding receptions, picnics, and other gatherings. I had just happened to be on the west side and thought that this would be an opportune time to visit Gina's Kapolei. I ordered the kalbi and meat jun combo for takeout, knowing that combos were meant for sharing. I chose 5 banchan of shoyu potato, taegu, kimchee, and chop chae 2x with no rice. With the long drive home, the sweet aroma of the plate lunch got stronger as I got closer to home, as it brought back memories of the delicious food that I had missed at Gina's. After I arrived home and ripping the combo plant lunch open, I devoured the kalbi, meat jun, and banchan. The kalbi was excellent, marinated perfectly, tender, juicy, and charred right with a smoky flavor. The meat jun was tender, soft, fluffy, with a slight crisp of the egg batter on the outside. The shoyu potato was nicely marinated; the taegu, which is a rarity in Korean takeouts these days, was sweet and spicy; the kimchee had the right amount of heat; and the chop chae was fresh, the right texture, and flavorful. A nice touch was placing a foil to separate the banchan from the meats. The takeout container was very heavy, as portions were so generous and made for several meals. And still at reasonable prices. Everything was very delish and on point! Customer service is excellent! Sang and his family are hands-on, working hard in the kitchen and at the front counter to ensure that you are a satisfied customer. They are efficient, well trained, knowledgeable, and personable. After my order was ready, staff was nice enough to ask me if I wanted my kalbi cut. Sang was aware of our situation with the Gina's at Market City, and thanked us for coming all the way from HI Kai to patronize them. The restaurant is bright, clean, and spacious. There are 7 booths situated around the perimeter of the restaurant. When we were there about 2p Sunday, it was busy, with all booths taken. Ordering was simple. There are large screen monitors with the menu posted from the ceiling or use the printed menus at the order counter that is located as soon as you enter the front entrance. Staff will assist you if you're undecided on what to order. Once you order and pay, step around the corner to order your banchan, then wait for your order, as staff is cooking it to order and will call you when it is done. Hours of operation are: Tues to Sat 10a to 8p, Sun 10a to 6p, Mon closed. Located in the Kapolei Village Center that is anchored by Foodland and near Paco's Tacos, there is free parking in the private lot that is shared with other businesses; however, spaces may be hard to find during peak dining hours due to other restaurants located nearby. It's times like this that I wished that I lived in Kapolei, but for now, I will have to settle for special times when visiting Kapolei! So glad that the Kapolei community has welcomed Sang Han's family for delicious Korean comfort cuisine! Wishing Sang Han and his family many more years of success in this venture. Support local!

If you like MAAAAAAAAAAASIVE amount of Korean fast food, then Gina's in Kapolei may fit da bill for ya! I have a lot of fond memories of going to the original Gina's, at da Market City Shopping Center, as it was my goto spot during my college dayz. Gina's still serves up massive amount of delicious Korean food, plus Gina's is one of the rare places that offers Taegu as one of their ban chan options, and last of all, the prices for their plates are still pretty reasonable as well. I think what motivated me to check out Gina's in Kapolei is because I saw my Yelp buddy - Iris T. check into Gina's recently, so after looking at da food pics, I was sold! Ya know, the Kapolei community has grown massively over the last 30 years, and I didn't even realized that Gina's in Kapolei was located at a small strip mall kind of a block behind the American Savings Bank (Kapolei Br.). I've never been to this strip mall before, but I notice quite a bit of restaurant eateries, as well as the Foodland Supermarket as one of the anchors of the mall. Upon walking into Gina's in Kapolei, the biggest noticeable difference is the size of the restaurant. Same set up, the wall menu is posted on the wall, you walk up to the ordering counter & place your food order, then make payment shortly afterwards. When they call your name, you pick your ban chan for your plate & when your plate is ready, they will call your name again to pick up your plate. The nice thing about the Kapolei restaurant is that there are quite a bit to tables/booth seating within the restaurant, should you choose to dine inside. The day I came here with my homie - Gary T., we ordered the following items - BBQ Chicken plate, it comes with (3) scoops rice & (4). ban chan Bimbim Bap I was the one that got the BBQ Chicken plate (it's my standard from my college dayz). So happy they still offer taegu here, so I got myself the the taegu, cabbage, kim chee, & corn for my ban chan. I didn't want rice, so they gave me an extra order of corn. My friend's Bimbim Bap was so colorful (see pic). He enjoyed it, plus I gave him some of my BBQ Chicken, as it was just too much food for me. Very happy I got to check out the Kapolei location, as I saw some faces I knew from the original Market City Shopping Center location. Jonesing for Korean fast food? Ya can't go wrong with Gina's!

Super friendly staff and what Rod U. said is true! Massive, humongous portions of food and ban chan! I decided to pick up dinner after work from Gina's Kapolei which is located in the old Teddy's Burger location. A little off the beaten path, but well worth finding. Not on my regular route home, but after reading Rod U.'s, Gail U.'s & Ruby S.' reviews, I decided to check this place out. Bought two plates to try which was easily enough for 4-5 people! These plates were packed to the brim and hefty. After studying the menu better while waiting, there are options to customize your plate to your liking. I was surprised that each plate included a three pieces of Mundoo each! Bonus for the win! The plates come with three scoops of rice that you can omit to get an extra serving of van chan. I didn't really need the rice much less three scoops , but opted to get it to absorb the oil from the meat jun. It was difficult to choose which ban chan to choose, but everyone item was plentiful for everyone to try. Very generous portions , even the Taegu! I was very impressed with the piece of cucumber Kim chee I tried because the cucumbers were crunchy and yet flavorful! Will be back to try the Mundoo kook soo that Gail U. enjoyed. Lots of parking tonight, but can get packed as the lot is shared with many other restaurants and Foodland. I especially loved that the spicy pork was wrapped separately in foil! Support this local small business because unlike other restaurants, Gina's Kapolei does not skimp on flavor even with their massive portions which is somewhat rare these days! Did I mentioned the friendly staff? Gina's Kapolei deserves a Yummos from this Yelper! If you dine in, they provide Corelle sharing plates & cups for water! Closed on Mondays! P.S. the friendly owner said they make most of their ban chan daily. Call ahead to reserve things like the potatoes. I am assuming he is the owner because his face is on their poster lol!

The home of the massive, weighty, Korean four choice plates is back! But first, we listen and we don't judge. Overhearing a customer order before me; "I'm staying away from carbs so no rice" then when it comes to choosing sides, "Five choices? Can I get mac salad three times, corn, and shoyu potatoes". All the sides, correct. Slightly fermented kimchee, not overly salty bean sprouts and choy sum, sesame forward, slightly sweet japchae, you get the idea. Well marinated BBQ chicken. Well seasoned meat jun that doesn't need the provided sauce. Well marinated spicy pork with the right amount of fat that integrates well with the chili oil. Not mind blowing but old school and above average for this kind of place. Rubber band to close the box massive. Three boneless jumbo chicken thighs in a regular plate. A combo of meat jun and spicy pork where the quantity of either would equal a regular plate anywhere else. As for the sides, each of the four choices exceeds the H-Mart small banchan container and that included the taegu. The entire plate topped 35oz on a kitchen scale. Regular plates average $17. Combo plates $23. Friendly local service. While not "I'll drive 20 miles" worthy, a viable top pick if in the Kapolei area.

From what I heard about Gina's Kapolei is that they are known for the huuuge plate lunch portions. Comparing Gina's to other Korean restaurant takeout competitors, this place is worth it! Similar prices as their competitors but more food and qualify for your money. Phone ordered for a combo plate with meat jun and Korean garlic chicken, my 4 side choices were 2x mac salad, bean sprouts and japchae. Walked in to pick up my order and it was very busy! Several people waiting in line at the register and lots of people dining in. Portions are huge and food was delicious! I was sooo full, had enough to share it and enough to eat it for leftovers. This is my new favorite spot for Korean bbq takeout.

First time here. Remembered the name from other posts on Yelp. A tall gentleman with green eyes took our order and brought it to the table once ready. He also brought us water in tiny kid sized plastic cups. The food is served in take out containers which makes it nice if you have left overs which we did. Their mandu kook soo is how I remembered it from small kid time at Arirang. My mom was ahead of her time and also introduced us to Thai food at Khum Miriam's decades ago. The broth was tasty and the mandu in it is generous in number and large. It tastes so freshly made, soft and even has some bits of long rice in it. I tasted hub's meat jun and was also good. He said they are generous putting the banchan you select into your compartment container. I wish they had a branch in our neighborhood. We came after 2:30 pm and several other groups of customers arrived after us. There are 7 tables that I counted in there. There is one gender neutral restroom. Three people were waiting as it was occupied. I liked their take home menu. Their flip side has catering options for 10+ The amount included depending on your budget choice looked really good for assorted bentos. Easy option to feed a crowd.

Tucked away in the corner of unassuming strip mall, Gina's is small takeout spot is serving up some of the best Korean BBQ plate lunches. You walk in, place your order at the counter, pick your sides, and wait as the magic happens in the kitchen. The menu is large and varied and with the ability to customize your plate lunches, there are so many possibilities! I got the BBQ chicken and meat jun combo and my other half got the Korean fried chicken. Let me tell you, we gasped when we picked up our order. The plate lunches were *heavy* -- and I mean that in the best way possible. Generous portions piled high, enough for at least two meals. Paired with classic sides like kimchi, mac salad, and corn, we had ourselves a little feast! Best of all, it was delicious. The meat jun came with a tasty dipping sauce and the bbq chicken was also very flavorful. What truly set Gina's apart though isn't just the food -- it's the service. The gentleman at the counter was exceptionally kind and personable, especially towards my son. He offered him a candy when we walked in and also asked if we needed extra plates or utensils for him after we had settled in and was enjoying our meal. He was the type of person who makes you feel like a regular even on your first visit. That kind of warmth and hospitality is becoming more and more rare these days and makes you want to support local businesses like this even more. There's seating inside if you want to stay and enjoy your meal hot and fresh, but whether you dine in or take out, you'll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit. If you love hearty portions and top-notch service that doesn't break the bank, Gina's is a must-try!

The booking was very straightforward, they don't charge a space rental fee as long as your party spends at least $1000 on food and drinks altogether. It doesn't have to be on one check, as long as it all adds up. We were able to decorate the area a bit for the party. Of course if you plan on partying here be wary of making too much of a mess or damaging things. Kiki then helped me preorder all the food for the party, and she also assisted with the surprise. Ashley was our server for the night and she did amazing! I was bothering her and Kiki and asking them questions all night and they were so nice and patient the entire time. Everyone was so kind and accommodating, it was as if they were family friends :) the speed of service was great too. I know we put the bartenders to WERK but the drinks still came out in such a timely manner. Finally, the food and drinks were BOMB. I've only been here a couple times before this, so I got to try a lot of items i haven't before at the party. Everyone was raving about the food! So many people who haven't been to DB grill before said they found their new spot. And if you like to drink, they have something for everyone. My grandma kept asking for more soju cocktails . The only thing I would warn about is that the AC is poppin upstairs, so bring a jacket. I would give 10 stars if I could. We love the DB grill crew!!!

The portions were good, the prices were decent, and it's the type of menu that works well for sharing with a group. Service was okay. The staff wasn't overly friendly, but they were efficient. Parking was good, and the overall vibe was chill, though it did get a bit noisy. The biggest issue was the condition of the restaurant. The place felt pretty run down. The floors were very dirty, the seats were torn and patched with electrical tape, and the windows were so dirty that we actually thought the restaurant had shut down one day when we were walking by. The bathrooms were also pretty gross, even for a casual bar/restaurant. I wanted to like it more because the food itself was good, but the cleanliness and upkeep really took away from the experience. They definitely need to do a better job maintaining the place. I'd probably only return if I heard they had cleaned up and refreshed the entire restaurant.

The food is always why I come again and again. The main things to highlight would be... Umami Scallion Rice, Shio Negi Tofu, Garlic Shio Cabbage. Yaki-Shabu beef, toro beef, umakara Ribeyes are definitely a must too! Scallion rice is definitely underrated, imagine scallions mixed with rice and a light semi-sweet and savory sauced flavored rice! I could eat like two and be good, but you wouldn't want to stop thefe. The negi means green onions so that with tofu... what can go wrong? I do like all the marinated meats and such! I do really enjoy the Umakara as it's rich deep flavor really brings an umami punch as well! I definitely want to come back already. Overall, a great place to come after work and enjoy some great service from Rayce. Everyone else there is super nice. The bartender, ciara or ciera? Drinks were really good too! Aside from the soda machine being down, I have noticed sometimes the menus aren't the cleanest. But, as a whole, I would definitely not let that stop me from coming!

The spicy garlic furikake chicken is crispy, saucy, n' brings the heat. Give a good amount of pieces. The braised shortribs are so juicy, tender, n' flavorful...a must order. To add even more flavor, the chili peppah watah makes everything next level with a slight kick n' tang. The egg Mac salad is a nice balance to the whole meal. Really though... casual vibe. Good broth choices and a lot of meat and non meat options. They have everything from premium meats to fish ball, lobster ball, tofu (curd, fried, soft) to tofu skins (one of my fave). Shrimp, shellfish, shu mai, gyoza, etc. greens! Yeah spinach, bok Choy, mushrooms... button, shiitake, oyster, emoji, I'm telling you - so many options. And I love the sauce bar. They got may favorites - goma (sesame), chili, garlic, cilantro and green onion. Cannot go wrong w some fresh grated ginger and shoyu too. $40 per person isn't bad. We didn't get the Taiwan snow (shave ice with mochi) but they had some tapioca (taro, strawberry and plain)...I tried. It's ok. I left feeling happy and got the fried sesame balls filled w bean paste.
