Weighty plates, a couple of noodle and soups at reasonable prices with most items $14.50 - $15.50. Important: Vinegar is a part of all soy marinades (traditional alternative marinade of South Korea). This seasons the BBQ chicken, bulgogi, and the shoyu potatoes. it is very different from the usual "four choicee" local Korean spots for its lack of sweetness. It is not for everyone. The spicy pork is very well made. Spicy for sure. Great chili taste sweetened by carrots and onions mixed in the thick stir fry. Oily but delish. Very flavorful and meaty, meat jun. Wahiawa never fails me for food options, went for the first time to grab a bulgogi/spicy pork combo and 12 pc fried mandoo. You ever go to your Korean friend's house as a kid and their mom feeds you, well that's how I felt eating this food. The only thing better than the food here is the 2 sweet women who take your order and prepare your food. I usually get the spicy pork - extra spicy. They always try to warn me it's already hot, but going the extra is so worth it. Just make sure you bring tissue for your nose later. Other than a table or two they placed on the sidewalk, this is really a take out place. I've had the same meal with the shrimp and octopus, and both were great. They have generous portions and an inexpensive menu. These moms also blew me away with their sides. I think they make the best kimchee anywhere - not overly fermented or spicy but just enough to make you keep wanting more. Their japchae is nicely flavored and cooked perfectly. Their mandoo kooksoo soup will stave off any cold or flu. It is delicious and nutritious to the last drop and so completely filling and satisfying. My crappy day at work literally faded from my mind and was instantly replaced with the warm calm of this ladies humbleness. She took my order, answered all the questions I had and I finished our conversation by asking if she worked on Sunday (it was only Friday, I haven't even tried this place yet) and I was already considering my second return because of how disarming the lady was to the stresses I had been carrying with me. Her response? She paused for a second and said yes I will be here, but after church. Then she placed her hand on something that was on her wall and she said I have to give my blessings for the blessings I received. I told myself, I'm coming back here again. For family dinner one night, some of us were ono for Korean food. Firing up the trusty Yelp app, there were several recommendations. We ended up going with 2 Mom's Kitchen in Wahiawa. Yelp reviews said that 2MK was takeout and street parking only, which is true. But it didn't really make an impact for us for Sunday dinner. Reviews also mentioned that they were made to order, so it's best to call before heading over. Made the phone order and made my way there. As mentioned this was late Sunday afternoon, so there was no problem finding street parking along N. Cane Street. 2MK is in the same building as Sawada Fishing Store on the corner. We made our made way to the window to pay for our order. 2 mix plates, one with kalbi, and a side order of mandoo totaled under a little under $40. Bringing back the food to Mom's house, the plates were heavy and smelled great! The banchan sides were on the small end, but there were a lot of rice and meat! It was a weekday and since we were in Wahiawa I took my wife to 2 Moms to split a mixed plate. We ordered the bulgogi and spicy pork mixed plate to go. We took it back home in Aiea to eat. The sides were cucumber and cabbage Kim Chee, chap chae and sweetened potatoes. The chap chae was very simple but the noodles were perfectly done and the flavor was good. The potatoes weren't over sweetened and had a nice texture. The Kim Chee was delicious and it was still cold after the ride home. The bulgogi was tasty, but the spicy pork was really delicious. The meat jun was so soft that a toothless adult or toddler could easily eat without problems if cut smaller. The taste was just right too. The kalbi, cut into about 4 small pieces was the complete opposite: tough, overly marinated and perhaps overcooked? - like sweetened San Fran Jackson market jerky many moons ago. The lady taking my order was so sweet and the whole place just looked super authentic. The food is made to order so it is super fresh and hot. Best Bi Bim Kook Soo I have ever tasted. That's one of my most favorite Korean dishes and I have tried this dish from many Korean restaurants but this one was by far the best I've ever had. It was so good, I immediately went back the next day. The sauce, the veggies, and noodles were delicious. Wasn't too spicy but still had a good kick. The noodles and veggies were so good I didn't even need the bulgogi. I enjoyed the bulgogi but even without it it would've been great. Also tried their bi bim bap and meat jun which was also great! The older lady there struggles with English but was so sweet and whipped everything up. Really tastes like home cooking to me which to me is the best. Food is great every time I go, food has a very consistent taste the only thing that is usually different are the sides on the plate lunches but I'm sure you can choose specific sides if you do not specify they will add random sides. Service recently has been exceptional! I've been going since they've opened and I've met a few different ladies so I'm not sure which ones are "2 moms" there was lady that used to be very rude but I never see her anymore, but the older lady who answers the phone and cashes you out now is SUPER sweet. She does have an accent so that may make it difficult for some, but I've dealt with many thick asian accents so all you really need is patience and understanding when it comes to communicating. Ambiance is good, it's literally a "hole in the wall" (refer to first picture) but it's super cute ! Not a lot of parking right in front of the restaurant but there is some street parking and there are parking lots down the ways, you just have to park a bit further away. Because I had my hands full with the kids, I didn't make rice... So we ended up calling in our first Take-Out at 2 Moms Kitchen. From the time we called they quoted 20 mins. The Restaurant is a small and cute corner kitchen that is Take-Out ONLY with street parking. Here's what we ordered: The BBQ Chicken & Meat Jun Plate is good from what the boys are telling me. BBQ Chicken is tasty. And my son gave 2 thumbs up for the Meat Jun! It's soft and tender. The sides for this plate is: Shoyu Potato, Jap Chae, and Kimchee. Surprisingly, the Spicy Squid Plate has a nice slight kick and great flavor! I'm a hot head spicy lover and it's rare I find meals with that jab. Maybe next time I'll see if they can do extra spicy? The ratio for squid & vegetables is well balanced. As for the sides: Mac Salad is good for a Korean Restaurant, Jap Chae is quite tasty and the Kimchee tasted as if it wasn't fermented enough. Unlike, other Korean Restaurants where you get to choose your sides, they select it for you. And the overall pricing is basically standard.
