Please note that this review is solely based off of my experience and NOT on the food because my family and I walked out before given the opportunity to order. When we first got to the restaurant, the bartender asked us how many and then directed us to choose our seat. The music was very loud by the bar, so we elected to find a seat as far away from the music as possible. My family and I sat down and looked over the menu. Five minutes passed and no one came by our table nor acknowledged us, other than the bartender at the beginning. After ten minutes passed, a server past us twice, but we still didn't get any acknowledgement nor any water. So we elected to leave and go to a different seafood place. My family and I are pretty understanding people, and it would have been different if someone came by and said something along the lines of, "sorry guys, we're short staffed and will get your order in a bit," or "I'll be right over to take your order," just some type of acknowledgment. Instead we observed a server walk by us twice, look at us and continue to be on their way. That left a sour taste in our mouth and made us feel like we didn't belong. Second, it appeared as though other people were also waiting to either order, get their check, or their food. But the servers were more focused on the patrons at the bar than those on the table. Overall, we were disappointed by the service and decided to go somewhere else for our family dinner. read more

We tried the Da Crawfish and Crabshack's (Kapolei) $9.99 weekday Lunch Specials that they offer from 11 am - 3 pm. Huge disappointment. First, the actual plates aren't close to the portions pictured in prior reviews. We ordered the Smoked Chicken which was more like "Skimpy" Chicken soaked in vinegar. The Pork Adobo was drenched with "sweet/sour sauce" which left a lasting aftertaste in your mouth. The Pork Ribs were actually the closest to previous pictured plates - tasted like "salt and vinegar" instead of "salt and pepper" - still skimpy (little meat covering huge bone inside)! Their "garlic noodles" had so much garlic that I'm sure that Vampires and Draculas will stay away from me for a week. The rice tasted like "day-old refrigerated" rice which was microwaved. I becomes solid if not eaten immediately. So shame. I can't imagine the other selections are any better so I'll just refrain from returning again. I would not eat this food even if you gave it to me for free. I believe you'll get a bigger bang for your buck by using the BOGO coupon at Loco Moco Kapolei located in the same mall. read more

Da Crawfish & Crabshack - Kapolei We came for a seafood boil... apparently we accidentally walked into Club Crawfish. The atmosphere was completely inappropriate for what I expected to be a casual seafood restaurant, especially if you're bringing kids. During our visit, some patrons were allowed to crank the music up so ridiculously loud that between the profanity, yelling, and overall behavior, we couldn't even enjoy our meal or have a normal conversation. I'm all for having fun, but there's a difference between a lively restaurant and feeling like somebody handed the DJ booth over to the table next to you. Then came the seafood boil. I was hoping for garlic, Cajun seasoning, spice--SOMETHING. Instead, the main flavor was... butter. Lots and lots of butter. The sauce settled at the bottom of the pot and somehow tasted oddly sweet. I kept digging around thinking maybe the seasoning was hiding underneath a crab leg. It was not. For a seafood boil, it was surprisingly tasteless. The one bright spot--and honestly the reason this review has anything positive in it--was Wayne, our waiter. He was wonderful! He was attentive, kind, and went out of his way to take care of us despite everything happening around him. He remained professional throughout the whole experience, and we really appreciated him. Bottom line: Wayne gets 5 stars. The experience and food? Not even close. I wanted crab legs, Cajun seasoning, and a fun dinner. Instead, I got butter soup with a complimentary nightclub experience. Is it a night club? Is it a family restaurant? I couldn't tell with the loud pounding sounds of their music blasting throughout the whole restaurant. I think they should remember that not all patrons are 21 years old. We sat down and no one came with waters until 10 minutes later. No one said anything. No "we'll be right there" nothing. Honestly, this spot is way better than places in town when it comes to portion size and price -- definitely more bang for your buck. Only downside? The service. It's a bit lacking, but I get it -- they're always packed and probably know the crowd will keep coming regardless. Still, for the food alone, I'd absolutely return... maybe do takeout next time to skip the wait. Pupu lobster and poke bowl are my go-to appetizers -- can't skip those. The crab tasted good, but this place is pretty pricey for the quality and quantity. The server was nice but really forgetful and when we asked about something missing from the boil (we only ordered 2 things total) she took it off the bill but didn't offer to bring it instead-we wouldn't have minded waiting since that was half our meal. We had never tried this place before but wanted to try the $10 lunch specials after seeing them online. We tried calling in the order but consistently got the busy signal for 20 mins, but it was christmas eve so they might have just been busy. After a while we got ahold of them and placed our order on the phone. When we got there to pick it up, it was kind of confusing where to go. There's no one at the front to greet you so we just wandered around and eventually realized you have to go to the bar to ask for your food. We got the smoked chicken and the salt and pepper pork ribs. The smoked chicken was good and had a slight smoky flavor, but was pretty much a standard bbq chicken. The salt and pepper pork ribs were really good and were super flavorful and crispy with a good amount of meat on the bones. The plates come with rice, mac salad (with spaghetti noodles), and some plain spaghetti noodles that were maybe just tossed in olive oil? We thought that was kind of strange, I think a fried noodle would have been better. The mac salad was pretty good though, it was fun and different with spaghetti noodles rather than macaroni. Overall I think it was a great value for $10 but I don't think we'd come back. Glad we got to try it though! read more

We shared the shrimp platter. 20 shrimp in garlic butter sauce (market price). Displayed nicely on a platter, the butter garlic was nothing special. Also shared the sweet potato fries. It had a light crisp on the outside, and tender inside . Good taste. Two thumbs up. Our server was apologetic for the restaurant opening late. Posted time is 11 am. We got there at 11:30, they opened at a quarter to twelve. The had a staff meeting. Ambiance was open with painted murals throughout. They had a number of TV screens set to different channels. The food is good. Service by Lauren was phenomenal and knew 5 minutes into ordering she was worth 20% of whatever the bill would be! She was fast, polite, kind and professional. It was a Thursday evening so we had a choice of seats but a half hour later it was quite busy. They have plenty of TVs for sports playing on mute simultaneously with music playing. Tabled are plastic with metal chairs and rolled paper to easily clean up after each meal. Your crab shells and waste is easily tossed in the metal bucket. The sauce was too spicy for my wife and her friend that covered the crab so they asked if they could add more to minimize the spice which they fulfilled however it cost me an additional $4.50 for each sauce but the food was so good I tipped on the $9 we thought was for free. Next time we will ask ahead of time the cost for any changes or up-charges before we agree to anything. I love the raw onion with the marinaded steak and poi! It's delicious. Another visit here and I was not disappointed! I showed up on a crowded (rainy) Friday afternoon (545PM?). The staff was great, full hands and they still greeted me and brought me to a table. Ash here was amazing! Ash actually had about three plates and still walked me over to a table and greeted me as my server. With the amount of people and being there were only two servers for a full restaurant, I expected to be neglected since I was by myself, but Ash made it a point to constantly check on me. Ash also apologized profusely for making me wait (even though I didn't think I really waited). My gratitude is unwavering for that type of service! To acknowledge individuals as well as large parties is so important and something they do so well! The atmosphere is so welcoming and friendly as the staff greets you. I was really looking forward to trying Da Crawfish and Crab Shack, but unfortunately, the food was a huge letdown. I ordered snow crab clusters and shrimp in garlic butter (spicy). The spice level was good, but there was no real flavor--just heat. It desperately needed proper seasoning. I asked for Old Bay, and they brought me some sweet brown seasoning that was definitely not Old Bay. Turns out, they make their own seasoning, and honestly, it's not good. Then came the biggest disappointment: they don't have real butter--only margarine. I asked for butter to dip my crab legs, and they brought a bowl of margarine... and charged me $4.50 for it. I also ordered lemon and got half a lemon for $1.50. The corn and potatoes were clearly just boiled in plain water and then splashed with raw garlic and margarine. Everything was bland and unappetizing. On top of that, it was extremely hot inside--not a single window, door, AC, or fan to provide relief. It made the whole experience even worse. The only positives were that the crab legs were cooked properly, the interior was nice, and the staff was friendly and quick. But good service doesn't make up for bad food, bad seasoning, and an uncomfortable dining environment. If they switched to real butter and actual crab seasoning, this place could be great.
