The fish meal was tasty. The chicken and fish looked alike due to scoop rice, protein on top, sauce all over.

I love plays, movies, dinner shows. A Murder Mystery dinner has been on my bucketlist for a long time and we finally went to celebrate my birthday at the Doubletree Alana's mystery dinner. I have been in marketing for 30+ years so the first thing I did was look for clues when I arrived at the theater. I hate to say it but I wouldn't recommend this show. The acting was bad it was so predictable. It could have been a little better if they served dinner earlier. The schedule showed approximately 7 pm but we didn't eat till a little after 8 pm. There wasn't a lot of people so it was puzzling. Groupon or not, save your money. The food we did eat was delicious. We would have been able to concentrate on the dinner show better if we weren't starving. That's my 2 cents.

The show was AMAZING and we have seen 25 + luau shows over the past 30 years! Check in fast and efficient! Loved loved loved the interactive activities before dinner! Tip - do the bamboo headband activity first not the flower wrist band as it takes a long time to make the head band and it's great in photos! Don't forget to get a temporary tattoo! Bar service is fast! Most people didn't tip but I did and no acknowledgement so probably won't tip in the future! Celebrity seating is worth it! Host was uber funny and extremely talented! So was every performer and band member!!! Loved the tree climber he was hilarious! Order uber 5 minutes before the fire dance ends and stand in the back and watch! It will save you a lot of money! The only positive marks I would give this review is for the performers/performances. They were fantastic and I truly appreciate what they brought to the event. We purchased the Splash Premium package and had decent seating. The location is very strange for a luau. It's in a shopping center at a port which is weird for a luau. There are lots of empty storefronts, fencing blocking views of undesirable areas, and construction happening on the Aloha Tower. The pricing is steep considering all of this up front. The food was not great. It was cold and it felt like a rushed cafeteria line. The chicken was extremely tough. Drinks were also not explained well beforehand. Your drink tickets cover a very small sized drink and if you want a larger drink you have to pay additional. Dessert was also a joke. A small piece of cake. The show overall was pretty good as I said earlier. However, everything felt rushed. The whole experience was right at 2 hours. We arrived at 4:45 and got in at 5:15 and the show was over at 7:30. Overall, spend your money elsewhere. This is not cheap and really not worth what we paid for it.

It was very easy to find in the international marketplace and being in the mall was not a distraction like one may be hesitant to think. The setup was perfect in which you can hear and watch the entertainers with no distractions and they kept us very engaged. I came to the luau with friends and family and experienced the luau in the first row, middle table. This was a prime spot to experience the performances and worth it. Entertainment: In the beginning, they held interactive stations that allowed the guests to learn and participate in different cultural activities, like dancing. Everything was timed perfectly and participation was optional so no one is forced to do anything! Food + Drinks: We then proceeded to eat dinner which we lined up and they served you. They had tons of vegetarian options and their kalua pork + stir fry noodles were my favorite. They had a wide menu of signature cocktails which were all amazing. They served pineapple appetizers to munch on while watching the entertainers. Service: Workers were very attentive and interactive. They were great at reading the crowd and moving the crowd, cracking jokes, inviting participants to the stage, and inviting guests for seconds during dinner. Overall I would recommend this luau to my friends, family, and visitors who want to participate in Hawaiian culture. It's a great activity for all ages and can also see this as a great activity to do for those on business trips with their team or with family and friends!

I later learned that she was a contestant on The Voice. In addition, my 2024 luau was my first visit to Hawaii ever and I was pumped to attend a luau and learn the traditions. Our 2026 host was a gentleman who had more of a flat stage presence. Flash forward to 2026, many components of the luau remained the same. The luau starts at 5 pm and there are various activities on the lawn such as lei bracelet making, some music, a man who climbs up a coconut tree, and a complimentary drink either rum punch or guava juice. There is the typical push for professional photos when your party enters the space with an opportunity to purchase closer to dinner time at $25 each. The show takes a touch to get going and has a strong focus on getting the crowd engaged. There are many songs dedicated towards anniversaries and celebrations which is nice. In addition, there is a big focus on military and those who have served this country being at a military hotel. The event is clean, staff is friendly, yet I do wish there was more performing as opposed to crowd shout outs. The show takes you through Polynesian history, New Zealand and more demonstrated via dancing, fire throwing and hula. There is an MC who hosts, live musicians and interactive crowd sessions. I've never been a big fan of the food but appreciate it all because it's a learning lesson about traditional food. The appetizers are pineapple, pickled onions, poi and salsa with fish that will get split at your table with pre-set plates. Servers will come around to serve the main dish. The main plate contains chicken, pulled pork, steak, fish, sweet potatoes and zucchini. Dessert has always been guava cake which pairs nicely with coffee. My favorite take-a-way from the show is learning how the men have always done the hunting, cooking and cleaning as the women are considered sacred since women can give the gift of life. This is such an honorable lesson that makes me smile. Thank you to the staff as I know it takes a village to put on a show like this especially 3 x's a week. Mahalo!!

They offered free transportation during a deal in January, when I booked, which was super helpful and only solidified the decision to go to Chief's. The charter bus was easy to find and left right on time. We picked up others (now our family/ohana per Cousin Brian, who was our host from the bus) from local hotels and made our way to the luau. Upon arriving, they immediately handed out ponchos, which were definitely needed. Mostly light rain on and off throughout the evening, but that didn't spoil our time there. They took extra care to dry our seats ahead of initially sitting down at our table and when we returned from the buffet. We were also greeted with a fresh flower lei (booked the Royal Experience). At our seats was a lei po'o waiting for all. They immediately offered us a complimentary drink and a gentleman had fresh coconut ready to try. Just ahead of dinner, the men brought out the roasted pig. A blessing was asked in the native language, and then it was dinner time. All staff were kind and helpful. All of the food was really good, especially the kalua pork, which had a great smoky flavor. I'd dare to say it was better than any pork butts I've ever smoked at home. The men played music and sang while we ate, which we enjoyed. On to the show.... Multiple groups of dancers performed for us, showcasing different cultures, like Samoan and Polynesian. Looked and felt very authentic to me. All performers were awesome and engaged the audience. Chief was great and led the entire evening. The fire dancers were also very cool to watch. All in all, give Chief's Luau a try. You won't be disappointed!
