I later learned that she was a contestant on The Voice. In addition, my 2024 luau was my first visit to Hawaii ever and I was pumped to attend a luau and learn the traditions. Our 2026 host was a gentleman who had more of a flat stage presence. Flash forward to 2026, many components of the luau remained the same. The luau starts at 5 pm and there are various activities on the lawn such as lei bracelet making, some music, a man who climbs up a coconut tree, and a complimentary drink either rum punch or guava juice. There is the typical push for professional photos when your party enters the space with an opportunity to purchase closer to dinner time at $25 each. The show takes a touch to get going and has a strong focus on getting the crowd engaged. There are many songs dedicated towards anniversaries and celebrations which is nice. In addition, there is a big focus on military and those who have served this country being at a military hotel. The event is clean, staff is friendly, yet I do wish there was more performing as opposed to crowd shout outs. The show takes you through Polynesian history, New Zealand and more demonstrated via dancing, fire throwing and hula. There is an MC who hosts, live musicians and interactive crowd sessions. I've never been a big fan of the food but appreciate it all because it's a learning lesson about traditional food. The appetizers are pineapple, pickled onions, poi and salsa with fish that will get split at your table with pre-set plates. Servers will come around to serve the main dish. The main plate contains chicken, pulled pork, steak, fish, sweet potatoes and zucchini. Dessert has always been guava cake which pairs nicely with coffee. My favorite take-a-way from the show is learning how the men have always done the hunting, cooking and cleaning as the women are considered sacred since women can give the gift of life. This is such an honorable lesson that makes me smile. Thank you to the staff as I know it takes a village to put on a show like this especially 3 x's a week. Mahalo!!

I have to be frank, the food was actually pretty good. I enjoyed every course and im kind of picky. I wasn't full, but I wasn't hungry by the end. Staff is super friendly and very attentive. The service is nothing short of phenomenal. They ask if you have food allergies or are celebrating anything. BE CAREFUL about this -- my wife and I went for our anniversary. As a gesture, they congratulated us and brought out a special cupcake for our occasion. Turns out, they charge you for it. Even when we didnt ask for it. This is the reason for the 3 star review. We went for dinner. Its was over $160 a person. They also tack on a 20% service fee, regardless of your party size. For 2 of us, the meal, two drinks, ans the cupcake that we didnt ask for but were charged for landed us around $460. Overall, if you have the money, its worth the experience. Would I go again, absolutely -- but not for the price. Also, I wont go when celebrating anything. Its a bit underhanded to tack on a additional charge for something we never asked for.

Rain was forecast throughout the day, and since the company's website clearly states that the event operates rain or shine, I expected them to be prepared for the weather. Unfortunately, they were not. When we arrived, the tables and chairs were soaking wet. While ponchos were provided, there were no canopies set up to protect guests from the rain, and many people were left standing outside the venue trying to find shelter. The event felt poorly organized, and I was not the only guest expressing concerns. More than half of the attendees appeared frustrated by the lack of preparation and accommodations. We spoke with both customer service and the on-site supervisor during the event. Afterward, I contacted customer service to request a refund. Their response stated that they were unaware of the rainy forecast and that they eventually dried the tables and put up canopies. However, these actions took place approximately an hour after the show was scheduled to begin, which is far too late. Overall, this was a disappointing experience. Given the weather forecast and the company's rain-or-shine policy, guests should have been provided with a properly prepared venue from the start. Based on my experience, I would not book with this company again.

When we came 6 years ago, the food was served buffet style, but now it is all table service. I didn't mind at all since it was still plenty of food (couldn't finish it all). Some highlights were the poke, kalbi, garlic shrimp, and assorted desserts. There is poi included as a part of the snacks for the table along with chips and smoked fish dip. Tickets for the luau also include 3 drink tickets per person. Entertainment consisted of live music and hula performances during dinner, followed by the main show afterwards. Everything narrated by the host who was very knowledgeable. The show tells the history of Hawaii through song and dance-- while definitely an abridged version, it was a nice, educational overview for tourists. The highlight was definitely the fire dancer! Service throughout the night was excellent. We appreciated the staff being open to our request for a song, which the band included in their song list during the dinner. We're glad we chose the Aha'aina Luau again and it has now become a tradition to bring our guests here!

You can drive, take a taxi, bus or Uber, or the Prince Kuhio staff can arrange pickup and drop off for you at an additional cost. There is plenty of paid parking at the harbor. Service 5: Super nice and friendly staff, all the way from the reception team to the photographer, the servers, the bartender, the chef and the captain. Ambiance 5: The enthusiasm of the staff rubs off on the guests. It is a happy gathering with breathtaking views. We took the Friday night dinner-cruise which lasted longer (and was more costly) so that we could enjoy the Hilton Hawaiian Village fireworks. The ship 3: The Prince Kuhio was first commissioned in 1984 as a passenger ferry. In 2020, she became part of the Prince Kuhio Tours family and was converted for use in scenic dining cruises. It can accommodate up to 138 passengers with plenty of outdoor and indoor space for dining, cocktails, and sightseeing. The upper, open deck where we sat, has 2 person and 4 person tables with all bench seats facing forward. The set up is optimized for sightseeing which is great. Viewing-wise, every seat is a good seat. Accommodation-wise, the setup is simple and not really fine-dining; hard seats with no cushioning, no tablecloths or cloth napkins, no metal silverware and no glassware. There is a bar facing the dining tables which at the time of our visit in August 2025 only served soft drinks and non-alcoholic mixers. For some undisclosed reason no alcohol was being sold on board but guests were encouraged to bring their own, which we did! Not sure if this is a long-term situation or temporary. The alcohol situation is not clearly stated on their website so if you plan to be drinking you might want to inquire ahead of time whether you should bring your own. The lower deck is enclosed and views are limited compared to the upper deck. The admission price for the lower deck is a little less ($115 vs. $132 at the time of our visit). The restrooms are aft on the lower deck. Again pretty basic. Boarding and seating 3: We got there plenty of time ahead of the scheduled boarding but there was already a long line outside. There was very little supervision. The line was disorganized and people were cutting in and jumping the line. We were greeted cheerfully at the entrance, checked in, and photographed for a separately-sold souvenir photo. Although we had paid for upper deck seating as a family of four, by the time we got there all tables were taken. Again there was no supervision by the staff and it was kind of a "free for all". We had to personally negotiate with the other guests (who had spread out over multiple tables) to secure a 4-seat table. This was a little chaotic and unexpected. Food 4: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner have different menus. We had taken the Sunset Dinner Cruise. Dinner included a garden salad, an entrée and a dessert (cheesecake). For the entrée, you are limited to Fish (Catch of the Day) or Beef Short Ribs. We all had the fish and it was delicious and nicely plated. Given the amount of people that they feed in as short as a time, I do not know how they do it but it came out really well. We met the chef who was going around and meeting the guests after the dinner was served, and he told us that everything is done fresh and on premises in real time. Hats off to the chef and the staff! Drinks 3: As mentioned earlier, they only served soft drinks and mixers at the time of our visit in August 2025. No alcohol was sold on board but patrons were encouraged to bring their own. Suggest you check ahead of time with Prince Kuhio Tours whether this is still the situation. The Last Word 4: The breathtaking views, the friendly crew and the delicious (albeit limited in options) food offerings elevate this experience to a solid 4. I wish they could do better with the boarding process and the seating arrangements. Overall a great experience!
