After hearing about May Cafe on social media I decided to stop by one afternoon. I wanted to try one of their iced lattes but was disappointed that they could only be make with whole milk, but the matcha drinks could be substituted for oat or their house (half whole, half oat). I thought this was a little strange but ordered an ube iced matcha. It was okay, not overly sweet and balanced flavors.
Awesome Vietnamese coffeeshop and cafe! The ube Vietnamese coffee and ube bun were both perfect. I didn't love the pandan coconut cake (didn't taste like pandan at all) but would try other slices next time. Will also try the savory food - it all looked great.
I love their black sesame foamy ice coffee and special banh Mi. These are my favorites.
The food was decent and I loved the ube drink. They have modern decors inside and the vibes were good. The -2 stars goes to cleanliness like others have mentioned. They might be short staffed and the tables just weren't wiped. You take your dishes to the dish disposal/collection area yourself like at other order at the counter cafes except their dish collection area is filthy. Men's bathroom was unavailable so all were waiting in line for women's that day when I went. Someone knocked heavily on the door a few times and tried to force the doorknob open when I wasn't even inside for a minute yet. Overall experience was discounted for sure. Hope management improves on this in the future.
Okay, so I've now been here about 3 or 4 times and I have to say that this went from okay to not okay for me. The first time I ordered a hot matcha latte, I was told that it is made with oat milk. Today, I ordered the same thing and the person at the register told me it's half oat milk, half whole milk, and that I have to ask for the matcha latte to be made with all oat milk. WHAT?! Also, I dined in, but my matcha was given to me in a to go cup. When I asked them to re-make it with all oat milk in a mug not a to go cup, I'm pretty sure all they did was pour what was in the to go cup into the mug. It was the worst matcha I've had and caused an incredibly unpleasant digestive issues because I am lactose intolerant. My last comment is that it's never really clean in here-- I always have to wipe down the table I sit at even when they first open . And there's a sign near the toilet of the ladies room that says not to flush toilet paper in the toilet and only place it in the trash can. There was also no soap in the bathroom. I think that's disgusting. It seems like no one that works there really cares and that takes away so much from coming here. I've decided not to come back anymore.
I was a little skeptical because of the mixed reviews but the peach lemongrass tea is about to my spring and summer staple. It's rich in color but it's really light and refreshing. Taste lazy fresh peaches and it has slices of them in the drink. The lemongrass is faint but overall just a lovely drink. I also the taro and mango macaroons. They are bite size perfect for a quick pick me up. The mango was my favorite, it even has a little mango jelly/syrup in the middle! Friendly faces and quick service! This is a great place near Triangle Mall to get some work done.
All the drinks are pretty good, but our favorite is the strawberry matcha. The banh mi dac biet could use some meat that isn't dried out, but I am not sure what technique they use to cook one of the pork fillings since I've tried it 3x and it's always dried out. The banh mi pickled veggies do not have the tangy kick to it like traditionally. I have already tried their strawberry creme croissant in the past which was amazing, but did not see it the last few times. Their sticky rice with all the toppings was good too. The drinks come out pretty fast but the food comes out a bit slower. The staff are pretty friendly and decor is so esthetically appealing.
I've had this on my list of places to check out for months now and finally made it happen! First off, the interior made me feel like I'd been transported to another city! This shopping center hasn't changed much in 30yrs, but upon entering I instantly felt like I was visiting a cute cafe in Washington D.C. The cashier was super helpful with giving recommendations on the coffee flavors and helping me narrow down today's choice. I opted for the Ube Vietnamese coffee which was delicious! The ube wasn't overpowering and balanced with the coffee quite naturally. I also couldn't resist the pastry offerings which range from savory to sweet. I can never pass up a savory treat and selected the spinach + feta as well as the parmesan + scallion (which was advertised as a new menu addition). For the sweet treats, I opted for the strawberry beignet, Black Forest cookie and the classic pain au chocolat. All were very good and not overly saccharine. My favorite was the Black Forest cookie. Cannot wait to return and try out the rest of their menu offerings. Highly recommended.
Overall: May Bakery & Cafe was fantastic, would come back! Food: The drinks at May Bakery & Cafe were fantastic. Wide variety of drinks and interesting combos. The drinks were all on the sweeter side, but that's how I like my coffee. Incredibly fresh strawberry matcha latte, very refreshing. Service: Quick service, order at the front and get a pager once your drink is ready. Ambiance: The inside was really nice, lots of seating indoors and a chill ambiance that makes it great for a chat or to do work in.
I visited again on a Sunday morning and it was much busier than usual. I got the Mango matcha latte this time which wasn't as good as the strawberry in my opinion. I also had the spinach and feta croissant (toasted) which was REALLY tasty so no complaints there. The service here is amazing and it's such a beautiful place to just chill.
May Bakery is a very cute cafe near Triangle Mall. It is spacious with plenty of seating and lots of desserts, food, and drinks. Our drinks came out quickly. We got two matchas, a Vietnamese coffee with ube, a matcha tiramisu, matcha shortcake, and mango coconut cake. We enjoyed all the desserts, with each of us having a different favorite cake. We weren't super crazy about the matcha drinks. Not sure if it was too watery or not flavorful, but we wouldn't get it again. The star of the show however was the Vietnamese coffee. After trying it we were all left wishing we got the same thing. Although we didn't order food there is plenty on the menu to try and I would come back to explore the different options!
After 5 days in Raleigh, I wish I could pack up Mây and bring it back home with me! After being the first "foodie" stop on my list for holiday travel, and finally sampling multiple items from the bakery -- but namely the Vietnamese Coffee -- I'm hooked. The space is located in a plaza with multiple shops and restaurants, right on the corner, it's visible from the street. Step inside and it's a bright and airy atmosphere, welcoming you to savor everything they have to offer in a modern space with comfortable seating in various forms. I came for the coffee but was swayed into dessert! As someone who drinks my espresso shots straight and my coffee black, I know that Vietnamese coffee is too sweet and rich for me; however, when at Mây... I opted for the Tiramisu Coffee at 75% sweet which was divine: smooth, rich flavor, with great caffeine boost, however I should have gone with 50%. Daughter opted for the Mango Matcha Latte which was divine, especially after mixing with her straw, to get the full punch of layered flavor. We also enjoyed the Spinach and Feta Tart, Matcha Tiramisu. Before flying out, we made sure to stop by again and our family of four was oh so happy enjoying our various drinks for the road: Ube Matcha Latte, Tiramisu Coffee, Tiramisu Matcha Latte, and Lavender Latte. Being our first time here, the staff members were incredibly kind and patient with walking me through the menu and making recommendations to help me make the best choice. Everyone was helpful and kind! Again, this beautiful space beckons you to stay. If this space was closer to home, I could picture myself stopping in for to-go orders -- but also sticking around for hours on end for remote work, quiet reading, and meeting up with friends. Delicious, fast, and fresh food. The customer service was really great and helpful and answered all of the questions we had about the menu. The music was such a vibe and the restaurant was a chill atmosphere. If you have tried them yet you should run! This is a hide Gem in Raleigh. Definitely a 10/10 for me in the books. This unique Vietnamese café came highly recommended by the locals, and I get why. I'll admit, I gave a little side‑eye at a place serving coffee and pastries alongside pho and rice bowls as it's not a typical marriage. But I like unexpected relationships, so it was absolutely worth a try. I'm also not an iced coffee person, but May has completely spoiled my expectations of what iced coffee should be. I had both the tiramisu and Earl Grey, and wow I was sipping so fast I didn't even realize I polished them with pure pleasure. We also ordered the pho, which was a hefty portion and incredibly flavorful. As for the pastries, none of them disappointed. My kids loved the muffins and refused to share anything less than a tiny sample of their red velvet and chocolate cheese muffins. My husband devoured the almond chocolate croissant and described it as "dangerously good." I can't say enough good things about May and will make it a point to return whenever I'm in town. read more

This cafe was so cute and I absolutely loved the aesthetic! We sat at the table with the tree in it. Yes it was a real tree. We went during their Soft opening. Not all menu items were available. I got an Ube coffee because I love and have to try anything ube. I wanted to eat noodles. They had got rid of there vermicelli menu items. So I ordered the Grilled pork and broken rice. It was good. It was average, not gonna lie I have had better. But I would go again for the drinks and atmosphere, I'd like to try their pho. read more
This is a great place the only negative is its location because it's not near me. This place is really out of the way but I do think it's worth the trip sometimes. I really enjoy the earl gray matcha. My husband loves the banh mi and he super picky with it (since he part vietnamese). You went twice in one day because we wanted more food and drinks and we were in the area and no we wouldnt be back for a while. I do wish the matcha was a bit stronger cuz I do love a strong matcha but the other flavor is this makeup for that. The atmosphere is really cute and I really enjoyed hanging with my friends for a few hours. I highly recommend this place. The staff is really nice and helpful. It does get busy so sometimes there could be a wait but sometimes it can be fast so it just depends how busy it is. read more

One of my new favorite places in Raleigh. Mây Bakery & Café is the perfect spot for a hang out with delicious Asian food and great coffee. I came for the first time and ordered a capuccino and a pepperoni and cheese croissant. They were both delicious. This place is cebtrally located with plenty of free parking in its own parking lot. The staff is friendly and professional, common areas are clean and comfortable and the place is very Instagrammable if you are into posting in social media. Overall, 100% recommended. read more
This place is great! Nice and cozy, beautifully decorated. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming. I had the tiramisu matcha latte and the grilled beef rice plate. It was amazing. I've been wanting to try Mây for months. Today was a good day, 12:30pm on a Tuesday. Not busy at all. There was a handful of diners, some to-go/takeaway. I order to-go from their online system. Pick up time was 12:34 pm, but it wasn't ready until about 12:50. Slightly disappointed, especially for people who are on their lunch breaks. That's wasted time. Mây did an amazing job with cultural representation a collection of books, colorful tiles and mural. Spacious layout and good seating options. They offer free water (self serve) and condiments in 2 corners of the cafe. The bathroom is nicely designed as well however, the toilet paper and paper towels weren't refilled. There's a sign posted to NOT flush used toilet paper. No trashbag in the trashbin. The restroom did have a stench because soiled toilet paper in the bin. The food, we ordered a medium strawberry match latta. It was delicious, good proportions of the strawberry purée, milk, and matcha. The banh mi was ok, I always order Dac Biet- they put char sui too, which overpowered the traditional Vietnamese deli meats. I would request to remove that next time. The pickled daikon and carrots needed more flavor, not tangy and sweet. There was no cilantro, so big disappointment for me. Some bites were sour, could be the mayo pate? The ratio of vegetables could've been better, i felt it was skimpy. The baguette was crunchy and soft in the middle, it was a good vessel. The kids meal, my daughter ate it, it was a typical marinated pork, nothing to complain about, they even served it with a fried egg. I would try their pastry's next time and come back for their drinks. The space is gorgeous! I never get used to how cute it is. Their matcha is superb! One of the best matcha spots in Raleigh for sure! Lots of seating. Interested in trying some of their food! I'll report back when I do! read more

Bright, welcoming Vietnamese cafe in North Raleigh. I despise driving on Capital Blvd, but May Bakery & Cafe is worth it. The display case is full of mouthwatering pastries and the menu offers a variety of Vietnamese coffee and ceremonial grade matcha options. They also serve food (I have only tried the fresh summer rolls). Once you order you can take a seat and they bring it to your table. We enjoyed each of the items, the summer rolls, chocolate hazelnut pastry, ube bun, and the black sesame matcha latte. I cannot wait to return and order the exact same things. read more
Didn't know what to expect coming in today, came for a mid afternoon coffee and realized this place is also a pho place. We didn't get the pho but we did try the spring rolls which were okay, I think I wish the sauce was more peanut-y if that makes sense. But the service was friendly and quick. The only complaint I may have is that I seemed like no one was cleaning off the tables. It took a little bit to find a clean table to sit down at. read more
My my May! What can I say about May(translated to clouds in vietnamese) .... I must say for being the first week of being open, it is running smoothly and staff are great ! As soon as you pull up to May you do not know what to expect ... especially be located on CAP BLVD... but dont be scared.. as soon as you open the door you are transported to an elevated modern clean vibe with a whole living tree in the center of the space with a sky light over it to give it natural light ! The space is beautiful and layed out perfectly.. Interior is actually imported from Vietnam and designed to match the vibe and menu .. The menu is simple but offers the perfect sample of an elevated taste of Vietnamese cousin. The coffee is a must to go here and so are the milk teas... yes the owners have sourced and perfected one of the best coffee beans and teas in the world to produce you an amazing drink ! Oh and if you come here on a date and forget a bouquet of flowers... dont worry they have you covered ! There are fresh bouquets of flavors available for your special date! The desserts are all home made and damn it can say the star is the flan ! The Tamarind Wings are also a hit and same with the savory chicken and sticky rice dish ! Ohhh and the crab fried squares... dont sleep on it ! It's an amazing dish and something you will not find anywhere locally in the Triangle! I did not try the pho yet but have heard ... that they chef was taught by a Vietnamese celebrity chef back in Vietnam... So definitely will be back to check it out and get more of the black sesame coffee .. which is rich and velvety and damn so good ! Truly would recommend giving May Bakery And Cafe a shot ! Bonus points for it being open late as well ! read more
Fantastic place, a good amount of parking in a pretty great foodie area. The place itself is bright and cheery and has a simple and classy-fun vibe. The menu items seemed slightly higher than other similar cuisine-places BUT the food was worth it. We started with a banh mi as a shared appetizer, then had the Kalbi beef vermicelli plate and the meat pho. We ordered an ube cheesecake as a takeaway and it was divine. Thanks and we hope to stop again when we come through the area. read more

Just came into town yesterday from Cali and wasn't sure what to get. Evelyn suggested her favorite steak and cheese banh mi. It was amazing, so much that I thought of it today. Evelyn's customer service and smile was a plus . Also Good job May team for the vibes, decor is on point. read more
Cute little place with plenty of space to study if u need a nice cafe. Menu is okay. Plenty of coffee and macha options. Food wise I would not recommend. I had the pho. It was 24$ total with plenty of broth and very little everything else! Oh My... the desserts selections: some were looking tasty and others were looking sad. Service was quick. read more
Amazing Vietnamese coffees and matcha with unique flavors: black sesame, ube, CHEESE coffee , tiramisu and many more. The coffees are delightful and not too sweet. The only food I've tried was the tamarind wings and fries. I didn't like the cook on either (hence the 4 stars). The wings were soft, not crispy. The fries were soggy not crispy. I could barely taste the tamarind sauce so they were a no for me but others seem to like them. I shared my concern with a worker on my next visit and he said he'd share it with the kitchen . Service is always great and it can get crowded on the weekends. The space is clean and there's plenty of seating. Don't forget to take your picture under the Pho King Good Coffee sign. Iykyk . I will definitely be returning to try other menu items. read more

I'm not one to post bad reviews often. I've been here multiple times and have had a good experience in the past. All the drinks are made with A LOT of ice. Ordered a large strawberry matcha with light ice and this is what we got. Not to mention it took about 10 mins just make this one drink. We ordered light ice because the last time we ordered with regular ice, we literally weren't able to stir the drink with how much ice was in the drink and with the flimsy straw. I don't think i'll be coming back for drinks anymore. this $7 for a large... this was such a RIP OFF!!! Save your money and go somewhere else for drinks. read more
